Cast of Characters: Eddie Brock, Gwen Stacy

Eddie Brock has posed:
While Gwen and Eddie were about town, they saw a flyer advertising a band that Gwen liked, playing that night at a club in Harlem. It wasn't too hard to talk Eddie into going. Knowing that it would make Gwen happy was all that it took.

Eddie slips into a pair of decent slacks and a nice shirt. Nice as far as his remaining wardrobe goes anyway. Most of it is sweatshirts, t-shirts and jeans. But he looks nice tonight as he walks Gwen up to the door of the place. There's a line which they have to wait in for awhile. Eddie pulls his jacket off and puts it around Gwen's shoulders, until finally they make it to the front of the line and the bouncer lets them inside.

The place is hopping inside. A good crowd there to hear the band. People are drinking and carousing, with some on the dance floor while they wait for the main act to start.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
It's no secret that Gwen likes music. It's in her genes! (Besides the spider ones) And while she may or may not have attempted earmicide by way of playing those blasted drums of hers back home it doesn't mean she can't appreciate some good music when it comes by.

Like an indie jazz band called the Pink Flamingos. Which of course Gwen had convinced Eddie to go to.

The delay in line doesn't take long, Gwen offering the bouncer an eyebrow raise as if in challenge if he'd stop them from going in. But soon enough they are wandering in. She is dressed a bit better than usual too, a nice black dress that clings to her curves, high heels, hair being held up in a bun with some wisps coming down the sides. All very neat.

"Seems like we are right on time." she announces, a grin offered up to Eddie.

Eddie Brock has posed:
Eddie slides an arm about Gwen's lithe waist as he glances around and sees he's not the only one that is appreciative of the girl's black dress. "Yep, haven't missed any of it," he says. "And by the way, you look fantastic. If you're going to wear that when we go out, we need to go out more often," he tells her in his deep warble of a voice.

The band moves to the stage, though not quite ready to play yet. Getting their instruments sorted. Eddie glances around the place. "Want me to get us some drinks or do you want to hit the dance floor soon as they start playing?" he asks her. His hand rests on her hip, giving a small rub as he leaned close so she'd be able to hear him over the music they are playing to warm up the crowd for the band.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
Gwen's expression gains some color at Eddie's compliments, her grin only deepening and those blue eyes as if twinkling, "Mmm, keep those going and who knows, maybe you will get lucky tonight." she teases in that manner of hers, sliding her hip to give him a bit of a bump, enjoying the closeness against the man.

"And we can get some drinks first. Just get me a martini." her eyes then roaming over the rest of the club, "Ufff, full house tonight. Going to be hard to find a nice spot. But then again we were lucky that they allowed us in. Lots of clubs like these only cater to VIPs and so.." a sigh.

"I hope you didn't go around spending more money and bribing those bouncers on the sly to let us in.." a suspicious look given up at Eddie.

Eddie Brock has posed:
Eddie's eyes soak in the sight of the blue-eyed coed. Her smile can make him forget where he is and what he's doing. Throw in that playful flirting and the man counts his lucky stars that somehow, she finds something interesting about him, enough to be with him.

"Drinks it is," he says. "Nope, no money this time. Just plenty of charm and panache. Charm and panache, I say!" he says, holding up a finger to stop Gwen from disagreeing with him, if she was going to.

He leans down to brush a kiss to her cheek. "Two martinis coming up," he says, moving off towards the bar.

On stage, the Pink Flamingos finish checking the tune of their instruments. They don't make any announcements, just start playing. The jazz is upbeat, perfect for dancing to. As many people begin dancing on the dance floor, a deep, smooth-sounding voice comes from behind Gwen. "They have such a soulful sound for a jazz band. Have you heard them before?" a man says, talking to Gwen. If she turns, she'll find a tall, thin black man. Well-dressed in expensive clothes, hair and beard perfectly groomed. He's handsome, and his smooth look suggests he knows he's handsome.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Charm and panache?" Somehow Gwen doubts that one. Not that it stops her from laughing that cintillating laughter of hers, she following along but at that finger being raised she makes a 'closing zip' over her lips, then throws away the 'key'.

Arriving at the bar means she rests her elbows atop the counter, her head canting just so towards Eddie when he delivers that kiss on her cheek, comfortable and cozy with the large man. "And .., thanks for bringing me tonight. It's good to go out a bit with all that's going on.." like her father having been shot and being in recovery. But all prognostics say he will make it. Even if the recovery may take a while.

The question made behind her has Gwen glance over. Was it asked to her? And then she looks again. Seems like it as the man is staring straight at her. "Right I did." she replies, "They are real popular where I am from." a beat, "Well, on my circle of friends." she states with a polite smile at the man. Wouldn't really be a good convo saying that the band in question is REAL famous the world she comes from.

Eddie Brock has posed:
Eddie Brock is talking to the bartender, getting their drinks, so misses the conversation that the man has struck up with Gwen.

"Well then I'm glad that you were able to come to the club and see them. Your first time, I'm guessing? Because I think I'd have remembered you otherwise," the black man says. "Cornell Stokes," he tells Gwen by way of introduction. "And welcome to Harlem Paradise. I hope this won't be the last time that you grace us with your presence."

Eddie glances up idly, surprised as he sees someone talking to Gwen. But then bartender is coming back with the drinks and Eddie has to turn back to him, and pull out some money to pay the man for them.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"It is." Gwen replies to the man, offering him a bright smile, "Enjoying it so far. And keep bringing in my favorite bands and you can be sure to have me around." she letting out a soft chuckle to let the man know she was but joking. "I am Gwen Stacy. And thank you for the warm welcome." she retorts to Cornell.

She casts a brief look to see if the drinks are ready, but then Eddie is on the way! Darn it, why was he made so big?

"You sound like you are one of the regulars here, Mr. Stokes. Jazz in your blood?" she wonders, attention back up to the nice gentleman.

Eddie Brock has posed:
The eloquent man says, "Oh, far more than a regular. This is my club," he tells her. "And you'll have to let me know which bands would bring you out again, as I don't think I could pass up the opportunity to have you visit us again," he tells her.

Eddie gets the drinks, his back to the conversation. Though that doesn't mean he doesn't become aware of it.

   <<Venom>> "Someone's hitting on Gwen."

Eddie looks up, glancing around. "Hmm? Who?" he says seemingly to himself.

<<Venom>> "I don't know. But he's better looking than you. You should probably be worried."

Eddie's lips press in a flat line as he takes the drinks and turns back, moving the few feet through the crowd over to where he left Gwen. "Hey honey, back with the drinks," he says, though Eddie's eyes go to Cornell. "Who's your friend?" he asks as he offers Gwen her drink.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Your club?" That surprises Gwen, having her brows arch up even if she does look just a touch embarassed. It makes her straighten up just a bit, "Well, it's a great place." another smile. It's also a good thing that Eddie's voice is heard as it means Gwen's eyes go back to him, hand up to brush a loose strand behind a ear.

"Hey, Eddie." she taking the martini and then leaning up to place a kiss on the large man's cheek, "Thank you." a small sip to wet the tongue and then she goes to the introductions.

"This is Mr. Cornell Stokes. Turns out he's the owner of the club. We were just talking about the band that came here to play." she explains, then gestures towards Eddie, "This is my boyfriend, Edward Brock."

"We had been looking to come to your club for ages now. And meeting the owner, well, it's certainly great." is she oblivious about the flirting attempts? Most likely.

Eddie Brock has posed:
Cornell looks across at Eddie. Both men are of about the same height, though Eddie is quite a bit huskier. Eddie gives Gwen a quick smile at the kiss she gives him, and his arm goes around her. Yes, definitely making a point there. It brings just the hint of a smile from Cornell who then says, "Very nice to meet you, Edward. I understand this is one of Gwen's favorite bands. Good of you to bring her to see them. I hope you both enjoy the night here," he says.

Eddie nods back to the man. "Thank you, I'm sure we will," Eddie says. "It's a great club. Good music."

<<Venom>> "We should gut him and hang his entrails-"

"And a really classy place," Eddies says to interrupt the voice in his head. Cornell nods back to the couple and then gestures towards them while looking at the bartender. "Their drinks are on me tonight," he tells the bartender who nods towards him. "Mr. Brock. Miss Stacy," Cornell says with a little tip of his head as a goodbye, before drifting off into the crowd.

Eddie looks down at Gwen. "Told you that you look killer in that dress."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
Gwen may sometimes be a touch too innocent. But she starts to pick it up when the two men look at one another, and how Eddie makes a point of wrapping an arm about her. Yea, she's no fool. It also makes her quirk an eyebrow. Though at least she suppresses herself from rolling her eyes at the situation. Ufff, men!

Instead she smiles brilliantly up at Cottonmouth, "Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Stokes." She replies once she hears the offer about the drinks. "And have the rest of a good evening."

A moment is spent watching the man go before she looks up at Eddie, "Lets not use this free drinks thing as an excuse to get totally drunk, shall we?" a teasing grin up to him, "Just enough." a wink.

"Cornell seems like a nice man, very polite." she points out.

Eddie Brock has posed:
Eddie takes a sip of his martini as he watches the suave black man move away through the crowd. "Yes. Very polite," Eddie says with a wry undertone as if there's far more he'd add on to the evaluation of Cornell Stokes.

But he doesn't, turning his attention back to Gwen. "But getting you drunk is part of the whole getting lucky thing," Eddie protests before leaning down to brush his lips against Gwen's. "Come on, let's get out on the dance floor and enjoy your band," he tells her. He takes her hand and leads her out onto the dance floor, moving to dance behind her then, arms around Gwen so she can watch the band while dancing with him.
