Spark, Speed and Magic
Date of Scene: 26 November 2021
Location: Robinson Park - Miagani Island
Synopsis: Phoebe was doing magic in the park, but when Wiccan (Billy Kaplan), Impulse (Bart Allen), Alfred Pennyworth and Madigan Belle stop in, it becomes an impromptu pizza picnic, with proper placement thanks to Alfred. Another End of the World may be coming up, but at least this time there's people prepared.
Cast of Characters: Phoebe Beacon, Bart Allen, Billy Kaplan, Alfred Pennyworth, Madigan Belle

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
The Forum of the 12 Ceasars was a good meeting place. Open air, Urbarail station, and one of the places that Gotham keeps clean. Pheobe Beacon had spent the night in Gotham, running on a patrol that had lasted most of the night.

So there, in the Forum, was a young woman in a gray coat with a tough, leather backpack on. she had her hands cupped around something, which was emitting light. Today the forum was almost entirely empty -- better things to do than to sit in the spitting snow, in the cold, and wait for someone to come up and rob you.

She doesn't seem too concerned. Her hair was carefully braided, showing the undercut and some fading scarring on her dark skin.

All around the forum, at right this moment, was the warm feeling of her magic as she worked.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will have told Billy, he has someone who he should meat sometime, so if he is in Gotham to give him a call, and maybe he could introduce him. This evening Bart is sitting up on a bench watching Phoebe a bit, he had been interested in learning of her magic. Maybe he is trying to make sure she is ok too maybe.

Billy Kaplan has posed:
Today a young magic-user is traveling in uniform. I mean, it's not like it much matters. Billy doesn't wear a mask so anybody who knows him will, you know, know it's him. His friend, Bart -- Isn't that dooooOOOOOOooooope? He's actually friends with /IMPULSE/! -- told him meet here in the park. He doesn't do it often because his incantations are still subject to getting out of his control, but he flies in and comes to a gentle landing about twelve or fifteen feet from the bench where Bart is sitting.
"Sup, Impulse," the spellcaster says as he touches down.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
It's a rare moment for Alfred to -not- be working, but when he's not he tries to find some moment of serenity. Or something approaching serenity. Seated at a small open air table, the Wayne's butler has one legged crossed over another while holding the 'Gotham Medical Digest' in one hand, and an e-pen in the other, poised over a tablet sitting on a stand. His brow is creased in what might come close to frustration as he sets the pen down and refills a plastic tea cup from a thermos, shaking his head. "Bloody technology... my hand doesn't shake that much..." he mutters to himself, glancing at a diagram in the journal of some new battlefield surgery technique.

Taking a sip of his tea, he reclaims the pen and focuses on the tablet once more where some surgery simulator displays a disembodied hand wielding a scalpel over a limbless torso much maligned by the inherent flaws of the program as Alfred would no doubt protest.

Madigan Belle has posed:
Not wearing a uniform of any kind, nor a tough leather backpack, is the easily spottable red head Madigan. She's at the Forum of the 12 Caesars with her phone out. She's got a bright pink sequined backpack on that features about a half-dozen of the more famous Disney Princesses. Belle takes a prominent spot on the back portion, and under her free arm is a pretty hefty, old looking book. She's otherwise in her standard leg braces, making her sway one leg, let them lock, then sway the next, to get her mobile through the park. It took forever to get here, someone needs to invent jet packs.

"Okay okay okay, what do you all have in common? Are there actually 12 of you... there should be something that connects. Hmmmmm." Quirking her mouth back and forth, she's talking aloud and moving from statue to statue, albeit slowly. As she stands there, she takes a few pictures of the Caligula statue, and then turns around to have herself in the picture. A little tongue sticking out and she says, "Bam" right as she snaps the picture.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
As Madigan makes her way in with the brightly colored backpack, Phoebe closes her hands over what she was working on, and the temperature drops a degree or two, the feeling of her magic fading before she pulls up her left sleave, and puts her right hand over the leather strap on her left wrist. Her eyes narrow momentarily, but she breathes out in a soft huff as she looks to register what all is going on around her, coming back down from her frame of mind.

More people in the park than when she went under.

She stretches her fingers, and then brings them to her mouth to blow on them a moment to warm them up.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over to Wiccan, and nods to him in greeting "Hey Wiccan, glad you could make it over for a visit." He looks over to Phoebe, and waits to see what she is doing "I thought you might want to met another magic type." He says to Wiccan, as he looks around the area. When he spots Madi, his brow raises but he keeps his cool.

Billy Kaplan has posed:
Wiccan isn't wearing anything other than his costume, but the cold doesn't seem to be bothering him. Anyone who ventures near the young magic-user would detect a faint aura of warmth from him. Reality bending is, you know, pretty effing cool. He grips his staff as he moves closer to where Impulse is sitting. His gaze moves from person to person, noting the position and disposition of each. Situational awareness. Some various bystanders and pedestrians. A girl who is clearly doing some magic. Noted. A man muttering to himself over a tablet and drinking tea. Madigan -- oh boy, shit's about to get real.
"Cool cool, always good to meet a friend of Impulse," Wiccan responds. He glances once more to Madigan and then back to Impulse. "She seems to show up a lot when you're around," he teases.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Another accident of the e-pen raises a huff from Alfred as he tosses the plastic tube down on the table and closes out of the simulator he had been working on. Glancing over the article in the medical journal one more time, he folds it closed and sets it down with a shake of his head to opt instead to enjoy his tea. "Plenty of opportunities to practice, i'm sure..." he mutters to himself as he lifts his gaze to survey the park. If nothing else, he was vaguely attentive to his surroundings and as the flying stranger touches down near a familiar face he pushes himself up from his seat.

Folding the journal up to stuff into an inner coat pocket, and tucking the thermos and tablet under an arm, he collects his tea and glides in a dignified fashion over to greet Bart in the midst of Billy's reply with an incline of his head. "Young - Mister Impulse," he begins, flashing a warm smile at the speedster before offering a slight bow to Billy. "And sir. Alfred Pennyworth, at your service," he began, before stiffening his back and glancing around the park with a mixture of amusement and suspicion. "Should I be worried? I only have another hour on the meter, and i'd hate to have to deal with parking tickets..."

Madigan Belle has posed:
"It -is- cold. " Madigan says to no one in particular, but she starts working her way on to the next statue regardless. She reaches up and pulls down her beanie a bit more, to make sure it gets over her ears. "What I wouldn't give for 3 hot chocolates." She offers the world around her, until she spots some of the folks in the park. Super heroes? A quirk of her mouth to the side and she squints a bit, then starts slowly making her way in that direction.

She starts to make her way over in that direction, and is keen on trying to look not-suspicious. What with her eyes wide open, staring, watching, and her head tilting a bit to the side as if she can get a 'better' look at these folks while staying unseen despite not having any cover at all. Yep, she's conspicious. "Hello?" She waves a little bit, and questions as she looks over, "Um, is there like a convention or something going on? I mean, like, for heroes, and people on benches... and old guys. Maybe? I'm not sure... this is one weird convention in the middle of the park. Although, there was this time I showed up at a convention..." She starts chuckling and shaking her head a little bit, "I was dressed up like a cat girl, and it turned out to be a weird BDSM convention. I mean, like, it took me a few hours to figure that out, and then... yep, I high-tailed out of there." A pause, then a quick snort laugh, as she nearly doubles over, "Sorry, pun not intended. Do any of you have hot chocolate? It's kind of cold."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe purses her lips at the chatty Madi, and she feels the chill as well, hiking her hooded jacket's collar up a little bit before she hops up from the steps beneath Julius, and starts to make her way to follow -- mostly for a welfare check. But coming up to the bench where Impulse, Alfred, and now two new people are, she hangs back a little bit.

Wiccan would probably be able to sense her Light.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will start to say something but then the others have joined him, and he is off and back in a blink of an eye with hot chocolates for all. He looks over to Alfred. and says "Thank you Mr. Pennyworth, I don't know of anything specific going on, but after that charity event you and your boss held a couple years back, I still need to get the recipe for those little sausage things you had served." He tries to cover his knowing Alfred. He then says "Mr Pennyworth, this is Wiccan, he is a new Teen Titan, and I was telling him about the glory and magic of Gotham, and thought I would show him around a bit. Might not come out this way often, but it is good for a newer hero to know the layout of some of the major cities on the hyperloop."

Billy Kaplan has posed:
Make no mistake: Billy may be young but he is a Demiurge and is made from magical fibers woven on the universal loom of reality. He senses the hell out of Phoebe's Light. Leaning on his staff a bit, both hands gripping the top, his cheek against his hands, he gives Phoebe a kind smile and an expression that seems to say ~I see you and I mean you no harm.~ But then there is an intoxicating smell of hot chocolate. He reaches out gently and takes one. "Thanks, Impulse!" he says. His gaze shifts to Alfred. "It's nice to meet you, Mr. Pennyworth." He looks casually to Impulse then to Alfred then to Impulse then to Alfred. So these two know each other and hang out, he thinks to himself. Not much escapes him. That gets filed away. He takes a sip of the wonderful, chocolaty beverage. Then he mutters something under his breath that's probably difficult to make out. ~IWantToIncreaseTheSizeOfTheWarmthField IWantToIncreaseTheSizeOfTheWarmthField~ The personal warmth field he has been generating extends out about 20 feet in every direction now, making that area as warm as a nice spring day.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Frowning in a puzzled fashion at the 'old guys' comment, Alfred glances between the two costumed heroes, before allowing his gaze to settle on Bart. "Is he much older than he looks? I'm not quite sure who she's referring to..." he quipped, before turning a polite smile to the second stranger. Looking her up and down in a curious fashion, "Afraid not, young miss bu-" he begins, only for Bart to supplant his offer of the thermos. Taking the hot chocolate out of a level of decorum, he lifts the cup in thanks before taking a sip.

"Ah, well - I was just on my way home, but I suppose it pays to know who might be saving your bacon one of these days, hm? It's a pleasure, Mister Wiccan - i'm sure you'll do great credit to the name," he finished with a nod. "God knows we could use a few more do-gooders about," he observed, only the slightest wrinkle of his brow betraying his notice of the sudden warmth about them as he turned back to Madi. "Here on some history project, miss? If things don't get hairy, i'd be happy to tell you of some of these, ah... illustrious figures," he offered, gesturing in the direction of the statues while pointedly -not- 'noticing' Phoebe out of some kind of proffesionalism.

Madigan Belle has posed:
There's a blur, and then there's hot chocolate. Madi ooohs and sips the super hot liquid, and then smiles a big smile, "Wow. Okay, I really could go for a pizza." She crosses her fingers, and squints her eyes, and waits a moment, then slowly starts to open one of her eyes before slumping her shoulders, "Darn. Thought you were like, a genie." Then her attention changes to this so-called Wiccan, "Heyyyyy, like the religion? Whoa, maybe you could totally help me. I'm investigating this religious artifact for someone, and just wanted to see like, maybe you'd know something about it cause like. One nature based pagan religion, probably there's some bleeding over into another, right?"

She sort of wiggles her arm that has that big heavy book under it, and currently also her crutch. With the hot chocolate in hand that's about all she has going for her, and then her brow kind of furrows a little. Her eyes look right over at Billy as he mutters, then she says, "I want this hot chocolate to taste like cotton candy, I want this hot chocolate to taste like cotton candy." Looking down, she sips her hot chocolate and then grumbles a little, frowning, holding it out in Wiccan's direction. With a little shake of her hand, indicating she wants something done with it. And the only sound of request is a childish mmnnnh.

The last bit of words go to Alfred, since Phoebe hasn't quite said anything just yet, "History project? That's way too easy Mister. You are just sort of laying out the ribbing for me on a red carpet. And, uh, yeah. A devil of a friend of mine, he's looking to prevent the destruction of the world with artifacts. I think he's a bit cooky, but there's some kind of riddle that has led me to many of these same figures that are statues here and I was thinking if I could only figure out what was different from the text to these, that I'd be able to help. You know, cause I'm a nerd like that. I think it's all conspiracy theories, you know, but still, fun to look at." She beams a big grin, still lightly holding out her hot chocolate in Wiccan's direction with a few small shakes.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe gives a small smile to Wiccan, and she raises her hand in a little wave, a bit behind everyone before she goes to join the circle. "Mr. Pennyworth, Impulse, New Peoples of Assorted Vintages." she greets everyone, her hood down as she looks around to everyone, and she takes a breath, and side-eyes to Madigan. "If you wanted it to taste like cotton candy, then it'd never be hot chocolate again." she comments with a smile, and tapping her pockets, and then swinging her backpack around she takes a thermos out of that as well, and she takes a deep breath, and looks down.

"So, preventing an ed of the world via artifacts and a puzzle having to do with these twelve?" she questions, looking to Madigan with her eyebrows rising up in curiosity.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over annd says "Not a genie, if I was going to go get pizza, I would have to go get a table." A table is zoomed in "Chairs." Next a folding chair for everyone. "Plates and napkins." Yup they are the next to appear. "And then Pizzas, and you know how many I would need?" He comes back with 5 pizzas on the table "Well how did that get there, hey at least you can show people your book now." He offers. Yea Impulse is showing off a bit. He looks to Madi "and your name miss?" He tries to cover as if he does not know her. One of his trips away getting the pizza's he does say over the Outsiders' com. "that's Madi."

Billy Kaplan has posed:
Well, Wiccan does love a nice display. He also happens to love pizza. So this is basically perfect. "Impulse..." He nods his head a bit. "Class!" The teen magic-user slides out a chair and sits. The Madigan Wall Of Verbal Text just rolled in. He has already learned the hard way that trying to swing at every one of her pitches is a mistake. "I'm not so good at books," he explains to the very active girl. "Mine is a more..." He wrinkles his nose a bit, thinking. "...kinesthetic learning style." He flashes a warm, friendly grin like he do. Through all of this, though, his gaze often returns to Phoebe. There is definitely nothing predatory there. Indeed, such motivations aren't even possible coming from Wiccan. It's more like the way an artist might look at another artist's work. There is both kindness and curiosity in his observation.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Rolling his eyes at the display, Alfred can't help but grin as an impromptu meal is served. He offers another slight bow to Phoebe with a vague "Ah, Miss Beacon, a pleasure, as always - are you involved in this end of the world business?" before defaulting to being helpful and moving to pull out chairs to seat Madi and then offering one to Phoebe. "-Five- pizzas, Mister Impulse? Are you privvy to this end of the world plot and trying to tell me I won't get to eat anytime soon?" he asked, craning his neck to try and glean some title off of the book. "Trivia related to the caesars, hmmm... what does your text say? Does it confuse the Ides of March with the 13th or 14th? Or Caligula's lyre with a violin - they didn't exist at the time, despite what pop culture would tell us," he offered in an off handed fashion.

Padding about the table and correcting minutiae here and there so they were 'just so' Alfred refrained from joining the young heroes directly for the moment, instead opting to wait for people to sort through what he considered an excess of pizza. "I suppose if the world -is- going to come to an end, this might be one of the safer places for me to be while it happens, and here I was just trying to catch up on my E-M-S techniques."

Madigan Belle has posed:
With her mouth gaping, as things just 'appear'. Madigan is a bit taken aback, or at least just excited to have a table with pizza on it. "That is -amazing-. Are you Amazing Wonder Boy, then?" She sticks out her tongue, just the tip, as she bites down on the end of it before working to settle the book on the table. Then working to get herself in a seat. It isn't as easy for her, as she lifts her arm a bit, to allow her crutch to slide down to her elbow, then she's gripping the back of the chair, and she finally plops down once she's worked her way to the front of it. "Whew. Well, okay!"

To Phoebe, "Yeah, there's a brooch, a pin, whatever you wanna call it. Of a leaf. It shows up in a few places." She runs her finger down the side of the book till she gets to where she wants, and opens the book to the exact right page. "Here. See?" And there's a picture of that is a recreated painting of Caligula, and in the background for those with good eye sight, and leaning in, they might see a servant with a leaf brooch serving some 'guests'. "There are pictures like this for all of them. A servant building the Colosseum while Titus oversees, behind the depiction of Julius's assassination, a member in the crowd, same brooch, et cetera et cetera. Except in one instance." As she's saying these things, she's flipping to different pages in the book, forwards and backwards, right to a page that shows what she's briefly mentioning, then skipping to another one. Clearly it's enough time for someone to dive in and look at a tiny detail, right?

"Domitian, in his signature garb, here." She flips it open again to the right page, "Right here. Where normally he'd have his.... whatever thingie that holds on his cloak..." She points in the direction of that statue, "That symbol-ly thing that's a circle. And instead... BAM. Leaf brooch."

A quick wave to everyone though, as she leaves the book open on the page she was last at, "The only other place I've been able to find mention of a brooch like this? Some rumors about Arthur and his roundtable... oh, right, pizza!" She is reminded by Alfred, and the fact that she said Roundtable, clearly, so now she's reaching out to grab one of the pizzas and opening it up, grabbing a slice, and starting to chew on it. She is eating big bites, "Worshdl endsh, noht... sooohns, wannash eht mohr." She smiles and nods her head, as she speaks while chewing. All her words come out, rather quickly, but not in super speed more like hyper speed. Swallowing, she adds, "Oh, sorry, I'm Madigan, Madi. Nice to meet you all. Are you a super hero? Just not one I'd recognize cause it's from the way back machine?" This to Alfred, and then to Phoebe, she smiles with teeth, "And, you? Got a cool name, like Park Girl or something?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Pheobe looks delighted as suddenly they're having a pizza picnic in the park, with Alfred setting things just-right as Impulse brings tables, chairs, pizzas, plates -- and se sets her thermos -- also full of strong tea -- and she shifts her weight a moment, allowing Alfred to pull out the chair for her (as it's proper, in spite of the fact she's a very forward-thinking young lady), and she looks a bit at the book, trying to figure out what the book is and if she can procure a copy.

"I'm not involved with the end of the world business yet. Last time it was more in a support role. Which EMS skills were you brushing up on?" she explains any involvement and then looks to Alfred, and then she looks to Wiccan, almost in a distracted fashion -- like calls to like, after all -- and she draws her attention back to the book.

"Phoebe Beacon. I'm something of a paranormal investigator, problem solver--" she trails off, and her eyebrows knit a little bit before she attempts to just slide the book over while Madigan is chewing so she can take a better look for herself.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and says "And I am Impulse, you may have seen me on Beast Boys animal Alphabet but as Dr. Impulse, but I am still working on the degree." He admits. He looks over to Alfred, and says "Well, I figured five different ones and non speedy types might be able to have more than one piece." Then he turns over to Wiccan. "Na, he is the one with class," He motions towards Alfred. "I am just the guy who can get the stuff fast. Pizza is easy, I can hit a few places." He says and if someone pays attention each pizza is from a different place.

Billy Kaplan has posed:
Once everyone has their first round of pizza, Wiccan will grab a couple slices for himself. He leans his staff against the table next to him. He has the kind of personality that tends to get lost in a crowd. He watches and listens intently to the many conversations that are flying around nearly as fast as Impulse's pizza party set-up skills. A bite of food. A sip of cocoa. A polite smile. Kid doesn't really walk with a big footprint.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Snorting in subdued laughter, but laughter none-the-less, Alfred finally allows himself to take a seat between Phoebe and Bart. "Thank you, 'Doctor' Impulse, you're far too kind," he enthused, edging slightly closer to the forward-thinking young lady willing to indulge his own personal neuroses so as to get a better look at the book with her. Setting down his accompaniments he took another sip of the hot chocolate that had been provided while offering a nod to Domitian. "Mmm, they normally wore a brooch bearing the aquila didn't they? Fig leaves were only introduced when the church started trying to censor 'obscene' material from the Classical era," he offered in a level fashion. "Perhaps someone or some organization with a distaste for authority?"

Alfred's suggestions were largely token in nature, based on passing familiarity with the topic and an amateur mind for deduction thanks to his after hours work with the Bat Family. After some time, he finally indulged in one of the smaller slices of pizza in as careful a fashion as possible before taking a beat in the conversation to reply to Phoebe. "Just some recent innovations to splicing arterial damage on the battlefield - unfortunately, I can't get the hang of these damnable simulators people are toying around with today."

Madigan Belle has posed:
"Welcome aboard Phoebe Beacon. Oh, I don't really think it is the end of the world, but when someone cool asks you for a favor. You do what you gotta do to earn it. Ya know? Favors are worth like a million bucks, or more, depending on the person. I once gave my Uncle a favor in exchange for an ice cream, waffle cone, of course, and about 6 different scoops." Madi is speaking in between quick bites, and she rolls her eyes, "He made me paint this coffin for him. That's hard work. Totally the best coffin ever, though." She sips from her hot chocolate and then sets it back down, "Anywho, though, it's an interesting brooch. And you aren't bookish." She points at Wiccan, then to Phoebe, "You are a paranormal investigator, that might be useful if it's real." She finger guns in the direction of Alfred, "You are more than a salad expert. That's a super good point, I'm not a history buff, normally, more of a chemist and genetics genius. Though, I spent the last few days brushing up on like, a few thousand years of history."

Then quirks her mouth back and forth, extreme enough that her nose wiggles with it, "Hmmm. Rebellious organization, maybe that's why Domitian reigned so long, cause he offered up a one-time pledge in public to them? I dunno. Conjecture now." She looks down, to find the book gone and then looks over to Alfred and Phoebe more and grins, "I'll need that back, eventually, I took it from a library and... I don't have a card. So..." she grimaces, "I don't wanna go to library jail, or whatever they do. But, rumor is, it's pretty darn magical, in nature, and it's needed for this ritual to sort of melt down, and make it so no-go-end-of-world-yo."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe gives a slight smile to Alfred, and quietly asks: "Which simulator were you on? I know that some updates went out on mine recently, and my stylus was having issues synching up with my laptop. I'll have to bother Tim about it later and see if he can take a look at it." she states quietly to the older gentleman, and she purses her lips a moment. "You're right. They should be wearing the Aquilas, or something similar, or a circle to the robe with the broach pin, but having a leaf seems counter-intuitive unless it's the wreath of laurels. But this is single leaf. I don't think any of our Ceasars here have additional acoutriments -- have you tried making an inquiry at the Met? British Museum? Inquiry at a psychic to track it down?" she asks in a half-amused tone, but she turs turn to the book's cover to see from which library it's drawn from, and to see if she can track down her own copy of it.

"And honestly and truly, I'm a paranormal investigator. You said this was a devil of a friend -- your friend got a name?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will look between the group and says "I can search a good couple hundred couch cousins, but I doubt it is there." He offers a smile as he eats pizza, one already gone. "I have dealt with the who occult thing on occasion but I am much more punch someone in the face a couple thousand times.

Billy Kaplan has posed:
Billy Kaplan continues to quietly work on maybe 2-3 slices of pizza. He quietly listens to the conversation flying around the outdoor table, but having nothing of substance to addd.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Waving a hand about dismissively, Alfred offers a shrug at the notion of which simulator he was using. "I've gone through three, so far, thinking it the programming. I fear 'e-surgery' may just be outside my wheelhouse... i'll stick with the tried and true methods of practice," he offered in a demur, absently reaching for another slice of pizza as he finished his first. If nothing else, the engagement on a puzzle he can vaguely assist with piquing his interest and appetite. "Ah - hence the five pizzas, then?" he questioned of Bart as the corners of his lips turned up in an unmistakable smile as he stood, clearing the first pizza box to a trash can before returning.

"Remind me to cook for five if you ever end up coming to dinner at the manor, Mister Impulse - but, ah... a museum may be a start. Or one of the many 'secret' societies and brotherhoods about the east coast here? Perhaps there was some kind of obscure Renaissance movement that the general historians may have missed?" He queried, glancing across the table to Billy for a moment as his gaze drifted to the staff, and then offering a shrug and turning back to Madi. "Is this all you have to go on, Miss Madi? Bizarre historical texts and the park here in Gotham?"

Madigan Belle has posed:
The book itself looks like some kind of original, or at least older. It's a book that was compiled together about misprints in history. Things that didn't meet the normal, and thus were probably fakes or otherwise artistic creative license was taken during the original's creation. Things that broke from the norm. The author? Washington Irving and the book, although type faced and printed, clearly, and has a title of The Sketch Book Volume 2 thru 4.

Madigan watches as Alfred is proper, and gets up, throws away the box and she furrows so much her eyebrows almost come together, but they don't. She quirks her mouth to just one side, and then she blinks a few times and comes back to the conversation, "You are so weird. You know that?" This straight to Alfred, to Phoebe though she beams, her eyes wide, "A psychic?! Daaaang, I've not at all thought to go to a psychic. Do you know someone? Can they read palms, I thought that was all parlor tricks, but if you are saying it's a legitimate source, then probably gonna have to go and check that out. Not sure I can really give -his- name, cause I didn't ask, and I like to keep people out of the lime light. Is that the lime light? Where do you figure that phrase comes from?" Ponders the fast speaking Madi as she devours her second slice of pizza. With a bit of a shrug, as she's chewing she remembers to swallow this time before talking, "You two really know your stuff. But, again, I'm not even sure if it's real. Like, it shows up too often not to be a thang, but I'm not sure it means anything, and magical artifacts are particularly the most important in this endeavor of underworldly saveth extravaganza." A pause, to look over at Bart, then Wiccan, "With a name like Wiccan I'd of figured you know a thing or two about magic. Is there a naming convention, syntax, coding card I can look at for super heroes? I'm just wondering, some of them are like right on the nose, Hulk, and others are waaaaaaaay out there."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Lime lights are old fashioned spotlights for theaters. They superheated calcium oxide -- called quicklime -- and when it heated up, it became very bright. They used them to shine lights on stages." she states as an explaination, and she flicks her eyes from poor Wiccan, to Alfred, to Madi, and then to Bart.

"... pretty sure we're all a little bit strange here. Except me. Completely normal, me." she states as she takes out her phone and snaps a picture of the spine of the book.

"I don't personally know any psychics I could recommend for location of an object; know a couple of telepaths, magicians and demon at this point -- don't think the latter's on speaking terms with me though."

Billy Kaplan has posed:
Billy seems content with three slices of pizza. If anyone were observing him they might detect that he seems a bit...bored? His attention drifts somewhere probably very far away. In fact, he almost doesn't hear Madi's question. "Hmmmm?" he says, getting pulled out of his...whatever it was. "Oh, um." The young spellcaster quirks one side of his mouth in a small half-grin. "I'm probably the worst person to ask about naming conventions. When I started all of this, I named myself Asgardian." He lets out a brief, small chuckle. "Some friends explained to me the error of my ways. First, I'm not from, nor have I ever even been to Asgard. Second, I'm gay so that name cooooooould be twisted by an evil super villain into a rude pun." He laughs, brown eyes glittering, as he contemplates this.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Nodding in a sage fashion, Alfred's eyes flash with something akin to amusement, "I - " he began to reply, before the veritable verbal wall of speech battered over him again and he simply conceded with a, "Am indeed, very weird, Miss Madi." Phoebe's explanation of 'lime light' broadened his smile some as he took note of the book's author and title before finishing his hot chocolate and reaching for his thermos to fill his half-forgotten tea cup. He offered the lid about as an extra serving receptacle politely, "It's a bit sweet, but a lovely tea out of Suffolk, if any of you would care to sample it."

"I've caught wind of a few... ah... alleged magicians and the like, that I could try to consult as well. Miss Beacon isn't too terribly difficult to get in touch with, and if I hear of any interest i'll be sure to let her know," he offered carefully, before clasping his hands atop the table and glancing at Billy. "Witty banter -is- a staple of both the crimefighter and ne'er-do-well. I suppose it was a safe change, to deprieve them of the moment. Though - I think I can come up with a few ripostes to such a blow should you ever decide to readopt the moniker."

Madigan Belle has posed:
"Whoa. Really?!" Madigan looks over at Phoebe, "That's why they are called lime lights? That's so crazy. Like, so many words and they keep sticking around and it doesn't mean anything with how we do things today." Madigan is really excited, "Are there any other historical tidbits like that, you know? Like, tidbit, where'd that come from? What about what about, what about, waffle? I like waffles. They are so good, by the way, I'm not sure you've ever had waffles until you go down to a waffle house and you order their stuffed waffles, all you can eat. I mean, I was so engaged, I didn't even notice the place being robbed. I thought it was the waitstaff coming to collect their tip, and I asked for more blueberries... and they brought them. Considerate robbers, at the very least."

From there, she turns her head to Billy, "I don't get it. Asgardians don't have a trademark on their planet. It was a mythological place first. Or, second, but still, we claimed it when we called it that, and you can be whatever you wanna be. Plus, I hear they are pretty nice, though drink a lot, I wonder if they also do drugs? Did you know that there's a high frequency of alcoholics who ALSO do other drugs. Often smaller kinds, coffee, cannabis, cigarettes, you know, the lame drugs. BUT, if you drink coffee you aren't necessarily at higher risk for other kinds of drug addictions. I mean, unless you go out of your way to do them... I guess."

A pause by Madi to sip at her Hot Chocolate and take a few bites of pizza. As the tea is offered, Madi reaches out with both hands to try and nab it, to sample. Then she's right back to eating and drinking, nodding her head, "I'm still confused. How could Asgardian be at all problematic? Is there a high frequency of homophobia on Asgard and I'm just not aware of it?" She's looking left, looking right, her eyes darting back and forth trying to look at Alfred AND Billy at the same time. "Someone explain! Plus, it's really dumb that anyone would make fun of anyone else because of their sexuality. What are we... in the 1890s." Snort, shake of her head, and followed up by finishing her hot chocolate.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe just sort of pauses... and looks at Madigan at the proverbial wall of text, a cascade of speech flooding from the girl as her head tilts slowly to the right, and she narrows her eyes a moment as jumps are made in conversation topics, and she opens her mouth.... then closes it, and just watches Madi for a moment, then looks to Bart with her '... what?' expression plain to see, and then back to Madi.

"... pretty sure Asgardians would be sensitive to someone labeling themselves as such, since they gave us the word is my understanding, but the only time I've met an Asgardian there wasn't really time to process curiosity qyestions." she states, "also the concern would be calling him Ass Guardian. Which should be a brand of booty-centric butt armor." she states, and then turns back to the book, and then flicks her left hand out. A two of hearts card appears in between her fingers, and when she flicks it with her right hand, the playing card disappears, and there's simply a number on it.

"My card, Miss Madi." she states, and hands it over to the very talkative young woman. And then she does the same thing and hands it over -- with an apologetic face -- to Wiccan.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and says "I got my name from one of the hereos in Gotham." He admits. He has continues to eat pizza, and seems to easily keep up with Madi. "All you can eat waffles, you will have to tell me where that is, so I can go there, but need to make sure not to go to often or they might ban me, it has happened." He admits. "Yea people can be jerks, I mean guy, girl, human, or alien, what and who you want to be with is between them and you. As long as both or even all parties are ok with it, then it aint hurting anyone." He looks over to Phoebe, and smiles a bit and says "Miss Beacon, is a very helpful person, and one of the people I go to when I don't know about something magical. Wiccan here maybe a new source for me as well. It pays to know people who know things.

Billy Kaplan has posed:
Billy honestly is trying not to laugh again, and he's doing an admirable job. A pretty darned good job. Right up to the moment when Phoebe says 'brand of booty-centric butt armor,' at which point one hand curled in a fist immediately goes to his mouth in a vain attempt to physically contain the laugh, which bursts out in machine gun staccato as his brown eyes glitter and his earlobes redden. He nodnodnods to Madigan, pointing to Phoebe, as he tries to say "Whatshesaid!" He reaches out to accept Phoebe's card. I mean, who wouldn't want a card from her? She just moved up like 300 spots on Billy's Favorite People List.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Spared of the explanation of 'Ass Guardian,' Alfred let's out a pointed sigh of relief as he cradles his cup of tea and watches the interplay between the young heroes while taking a moment to relax in his seat. Finding a moment to speak up amidst the tirade, he clears his throat slightly and offers an answer to a slightly less difficult question. "Alcoholism is indeed a rather difficult disease to deal with, and can lead to something of a cascade into even worse problems, but..." he trails off, brow furrowing slightly before quickly changing gears.

"Miss Beacon is -indeed- a valuable resource - I would treasure that card, were I the two of you. As for myself? Well, i'm not too terribly difficult to get in touch with, and as long as it's a reasonable hour i'm at least useful for a pot of tea, if nothing else. It seems every time I turn around someone is moving out of the manor and leaving Master Bruce and I all alone, so the company is welcome."

Madigan Belle has posed:
"Oh, ohh..." A pause, and Madigan says, "Ohhhhhhhhhhhh." And with each of those her eyes get wider and wider, and then she shrugs a little bit, "Not the worse joke I've heard." There's a moment where she is about to open her mouth, and maybe say the worse joke she's heard but Alfred remarks on the comment about Alcoholism, and there's a card for her to take and inspect. Inspect, she does, holding it with both hands, looking at it, turning it around, and then looks up from it. "Master... Bruce?" Ponders Madigan, as she sorts through memories, and then quirks her mouth to the side.

"Are you someone's servant? I thought those were all gone. I mean, I have plenty of people who serve me things, but no one's my servant. Unless that's legal again, I might buy a few, it is -tough- to do some things all on my own." Then she is reaching into her backpack, and pulling out her phone to check it, "Uh oh. Speaking of things being served to me, I just got a pic of a big parfait that is waiting for me at my apartment. My uncle is -the best-." And that's when she starts to get herself out of the chair. One hand on the table, one on the back of the chair with a bit of a twist of her upper body, then she's pushing up and luckily she doesn't weigh much so she can heft herself to her feet. Once there, she's grabbing her crutch, grabbing a pizza box and sliding it over. She starts to unpack sealable containers that she starts putting pizza into. She does a well-practiced routine of putting in a few pieces into one container, popping the lid on and putting it into her backpack.

"I'll text you. And, grandpa Alfred, you should get yourself a VR set for the surgeon simulator game. Makes it much more hands on, more like, you know, real surgery. Or, just keep practicing on people, that's what I'd do. Gotta get your hands messy sometimes, else you'll never learn the right way of doing something." She finishes packing up the pizza from one box and grins to Impulse and Wiccan, "Nice to meet you both, you Super Dudes, you. And thanks for the card, Lady Shining a light person you."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Lady Shining a Light. Phoebe's been called so, so much worse, but that new epithet makes her smile a bit as she reaches out to hold Madigan's chair for her, holding it in place firmly as the girl works herself up, takes additional pizza, and then makes her way out.

"That number is the best way to get in touch with me. Leave a message if you don't get a hold of me directly." she comments to Madigan, and she gives a look to Alfred in understanding about learning through practical means. Oh, does she have stories.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Madigan's attempt to rise spurs Alfred to action once more - rising up to try and hastily intercept the girl and help her to her feet, and then assisting with packaging up some of the pizza left overs with only the faintest of a bemused glance to Bart as he clarified. "I have had the privilege of being the Wayne family butler since 1986, Miss Madi - perfectly legal, unless there's some clause in my contract i've overlooked. Perhaps it bears looking over here in this modern age," he quipped, helping to settle the backpack on her shoulders as he glanced about the table. "I assume the two of you don't need a ride, given your means of locomotion?" he asked in Bart and Billy's direction, before glancing over at Phoebe, "I can drop the two of you young ladies off somewhere, if you'd like," he offered in his usual gentlemanly fashion as he gave Madi space to maneuver again and then set about tidying up.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and considers offering her assistance home, but stops himself it may be a bit much and he does know she take pride in doing things herself When Alfred offers the girls assistance he smiles a bit. He will then take the empty pizza boxes and throws them away to keep Alfred from having to do it. "Yea, I travel by foot most of the time, but am learning to drive a car."

Billy Kaplan has posed:
Billy Kaplan stands up and lends a hand with the pick-up. I mean, it's not like Impulse couldn't do it faster than Wiccan could blink but, you know, there is no 'I' in Teen Titans. "So...Master Bruce, eh?" Wiccan says with a small chuckle. "I /knew/ your name sounded familiar. You work for Bruce Wayne, don't you, Mr. Pennyworth? I've ready your name on news sites." Then he glances to Impulse, then back to Alfred. And he hangs out with Impulse. Hmmmm.

Madigan Belle has posed:
The red headed chatter box doesn't stop Alfred from helping her pack things up, and in fact stops doing it herself once he is starting. Though she shakes her head, "Nah, I'm okay. I'll get home on my own. My uncle's got a car that's probably roaming around here anyhow since I've been here a bit. Or I might take an uber, or make them drive really really really slow as I walk for a bit. I'm okay though. I own a gun, so no one's gettin' this girl."

She states, amongst people who probably aren't so worried about guns. Though she doesn't illustrate or anything like that, and it's clearly not on her person or in her backpack, since Alfred is putting things away in there. Maybe she just means she owns one. "Bruce Wayne? That rich guy, darn. I was going to try and buy you off of your own..." she stops herself, and corrects, "employer. He's probably WAY richer than me. So, no-go there. Whew, all done!"

Taking her backpack she swings it onto her back, grabs her crutch and then reaches out to grab her book, closing it up and tucking it under an arm. "See you all again, if you think of something about the leaf brooch, lemme know. I'd be super keen on knowing." Big bright smile, and off she goes... super slowly.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe looks to Impulse with a very meaningul Look, and then breathes out as she tilts her head back.

"I apologize, I wanted to do a better introduction but ah -- hard to go when you're not sure of who knows what." she gives a sheepish smile "And I just assume Alfred knows everything. Probably easier that way." she states quietly, and she holds out her hand. "Phoebe Beacon, formerly exorcist-in-training. You feel... really, really different."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over to Phoebe and after Madi has walked away and he is pretty sure she is out of ear shot he says "What? How was I supposed to know she was going to be here." He then looks over to Billy, and says "Thats the first time I have met her in costume." He nods towards the way Madi went to clarify who he means. "But yea Billy, I think you and Phoebe here may have some things to talk to about magics."

Billy Kaplan has posed:
Billy Kaplan wipes his hands on his cape after picking up pizza boxes. He takes Phoebe's hand in his. He's really warm from the heat field incantation he has been sustaining for the past hour. But too, it's more than a handshake. He is /feeling/ her energy, /looking/ at her. The most serene smile comes over his face as he release Phoebe's hand after holding it for a few too many beats. "You have a beautiful energy, Phoebe. I hope we'll be good friends. My name is Billy Kaplan, or Wiccan. Whatever." He snorts a bit. "Nobody calls me that. I mean, it's not like my identity is particularly secret."

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Watching Madi hobble off, Alfred's brow furrows for the second time in some concern as clasps his hands behind his back. He stands watching until the girl is out of sight before shaking his head and offering a roll of his eyes. "Were I but... five years younger or so, i'd likely be dressing up with everyone else. We fought wars so the lot of you wouldn't have to do things like this," he lamented in an uncharacteristically morose fashion. Brightening up slightly at Phoebe's compliment, he lets out a dry chuckle and waves a hand about. "I don't know nearly as much as I wished, but it does pay to keep a finger on the pulse of things in Master Bruce's employ."

Returning to his seat, he reclaimed the cup of tea and sat to listen, nodding only in acknowledgement of Billy's given name. "A pleasure, Mister Kaplan."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe gives a smile, her hand grasping against Billy's a moment before she shakes her head "Only borrowed, I'm afraid." she states quietly, and she raises her eyebrows at Alfred, and she gives a small smile, bringing her fingers up and clasping them, and holding them on the table a moment. She takes a deep breath, and lets it out slowly as she looks to Impulse. "I apologize. When she lead in with 'end of the world', kind of had to take a look at what she was looking for. M ore difficult without the name of her devilish friend -- I just... wanted to make sure it wasn't the same one I encountered." she looks down, then looks up, and around the table of gentlemen and states: "And thank you, Alfred, but I've still got money on my bus pass. Bit too cold to take the bike today. I need to put the winter liner in my helmet."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and says "There is also the Impulseshaw if you need it." He reminds Phoebe. The extra chair is taken back to where it was gotten from but he leaves the tabe and chairs the others were sitting in for now. "I might be able to get some more information but I will have to figure out how to ask."

Billy Kaplan has posed:
Billy takes in a deep breath and lets it out. "Well, I'm supposed to help my parents with some stuff and it's already getting late." He gives a bro-nod to Impulse. "Later, man." Then to Alfred, "Mr. Pennyworth, you are a dope dude and I hope we meet again, sir." Then to Phoebe, "I'll call you. I suspect we have a lot to talk about."
He steps away from the group a few steps and begins an incantation. ~IWantToBeAtMyParentsHouse IWantToBeAtMyParentsHouse IWantToBeAtMyParentsHouse~ And just like that, he vanishes dramatically! Into thin air!
The first thing one might notice is the sudden absence of the heat field. The second might be Wiccan's appearance about 25 feet away over the grass and about 5 feet off the ground. He lets out a surprised yell as he fall to a soft landing. His errant hair flops treacherously over his face. He blows it away with an embarrassed exhale. He stands. "I'm alright! I'm fine! Gotta... gotta work on that teleportation spell!" With red cheeks he repeats the incantation and vanishes, hopefully to his intended destination.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
"It seems that everywhere we look these days there's someone talking about how 'The end is nigh' or something to the effect," Alfred remarks dryly. He studies his plastic tea cup for a moment before refilling it with some warmer drink and then glances between Phoebe and Bart, "Do the two of you put much stock in it? Her story, that is. My knowledge on the topic, as you might expect, is rather limited in scope."

If the change in temperature bothered him, he did a remarkable job of hiding it, instead opening his thermos again to utilize the lid as a cup, offering it to Bart in an effort to stave off the cold. "Admittedly, I was doing some reading last night into some more esoteric 'supernatural' books in the library. You might call me a believer, at this point, after the bakery."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Nice kid." Phoebe states about Billy, in spite of the fact that she is probably just around his age.

She looks to Bart, and gives a little nod. "If she does mention any names that sound, say... Babylonian or Sumerian in origin, let me know." Phoebe states to Impulse, and then she gives a smalls mile to Alfred, and a little shrug.

"I know that some are very much blase over the End of the World. I told one friend a concern and he shrugged it off... we're not really close anymore. But it's a possibility, which is why I wanted to see what conspiracy theory she was following, but... divination, mind reading, not my realm of experience." she explains.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks to them, and says "Well, as someone from the future, I don't think we are to close to the end of it, but then again,, I have seen quite a few differences between my history and here." He admits. He nods to Phoebe and says "Will keep it in mine, maybe stir through some video games that have that kind of genre on our next date.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Nodding in agreement, Alfred takes a sip of his tea and returns to reclining in his seat, crossing one leg over the other. "Nice boy indeed - and i'll admit that Miss Madigan was an endearing young woman. Reminds me of someone," he acknowledged matter-of-factly as he glanced between the two. "I think, between your knowledge of such matters Miss Beacon, and your unique insight Mister Allen, i'll consider my employment safe in the days to come."

"Though you may be better served cracking a book as opposed to trawling through those video games. I'm given to understand even those based on historical affairs take rather... creative liberties. Assassins and Templars influencing the world stage for centuries, that sort of thing," he finished dryly, smirking.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"... I don't know what's worse, the fact that you just referenced Assassin's Creed, or the fact that I didn't get to do it." Phoebe actually frowns at Alfred, but it seems to be in good fun. She brings her fingers up, and then... blows into them. Those red leather fingerless gloves don't hold heat.

"At least there's not tons of interfearance right now that I can sense." she states quietly, and gives a soft 'hum'.

"Well. I completed what I was doing here by the time Miss Madi showed up, I should probably head back to New York and make sure none of the pipes have frozen in the Curio... and... my knowledge of such things is still small, Alfred. I'm just an outlier at this point.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over to her, and says "We have to worry about our pipes?" He asks Phoebe. "The ride to your place is there if you need it." He looks over to Alfred, and says "Well we first met playing Mortal Kombat at an arcade, but I thought playing a game in a setting close to it might get her talking about the guy and the book, to Bart instead of Impulse."

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Alfred stands up at the mention of Phoebe's departure, rolling his eyes at her comment. "It -does- get boring attending to a mostly empty manor, Miss Beacon. I try to read up on pop culture when I can so you kids," - he stopped, his smirk widening at the moniker, "Can't throw things over my head." He moved to help pull Phoebe's chair out, glancing across the park to where he had parked and then moving to collect his possessions.

"If your pipes -do- freeze, either of you are free to give me a call, and if you would like, Mr. Allen, I can even provide some victuals for your date with Miss Madigan - god knows most of the things I cook go uneaten. I'm sure you 'whipper snappers' work up quite the appetite with your joystick manipulation." It's quite possible Alfred just tried to slide a racy, if self-deprecating, jab under the radar, despite his deadpan expression. "I suppose I should take my leave as well. The food can't get cold if it isn't cooked..."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"The building's old. Originally didn't have plumbing. Pretty much everything is either-- I don't..." she trails off, and she tilts her head back.

"The spellwork for the rooms that don't actually fit in the building may be a little funky when it comes to the plumbing. Since the originator of the workings is no longer on our plane of existence, best I can figure anyway, making sure that it's upkept I /guess/ falls to me. Since, you know." She gives a wince and a shrug to Impulse as Alfred is kind enough to pull her chair out, and she curls her fingers a moment, sliding them into her pockets.

"Thank you for the offer, Alfred, but be careful. Eventually you're going to start bringing home lost ki-" she pauses and opens her mouth, then closes her mouth, and she gives a very undignified snort of laughter at Joystick Manipulation.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen 's brow raises a bit as he completely misses the whole Joystick joke. He looks over to Alfred "I appreciate it but I may find it hard to explain how both Bart and Impulse know you." He admits, but maybe you can show me how to cook something, I am pretty fast at picking stuff up, and if the recipe is in a cookbook, I can read it and have it down.

Alfred Pennyworth has posed:
Nodding deferentially, Alfred tucks his thermos and tablet under his arm, offering a slight bow. "Of course - it'd be a delight to teach someone to cook. I have a few easy recipes that will make you look positively brilliant in the eyes of a young lady - especially one as inquisitive as her," he replied with a smile. "At anyrate - the two of you get home safe. I look forward to our next meeting." With that, Alfred took his leave, allowing the two to make their own private farewells as he unlocked the Rolls from a distance.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Take care, Mr. Pennyworth." Phoebe calls back to Alfred, and then gives a smile to Bart, and a wave as she goes towards the Urbarail station, probably to catch the hyperloop. Gives her time to think.
