Hot chicks on a roof.
Date of Scene: 31 March 2020
Location: Garment District
Synopsis: Fire meet Ninja!
Cast of Characters: Chizue Nakamura, Beatriz da Costa

Chizue Nakamura has posed:
It's a mixed use commercial buildings, Theres jewlers, an Art dealer, two different banks and a biomed research office, which means this unassouning building is something of a robbery hotspot. It's certainly someplace to keep an eye on during a nightly patrol, right? Well you'll never guess who's up on the roof top, with a neat dull grey tarp stretched between a pair of rooftop AC units.

If you guessed Owari you'd be right, because running a full scale network intrusion takes dramatically more juice than she has on hand to run both her computers and her cloak. Not that she hasn't taken care to give herself some insurance of course, she's tied the roof access door shut with a novel bit of rope work and already set up a rapeling anchor for a speedy get away.

See normally on TV hacking a bank takes like a minute, but in the real world it's more than two weeks of work and several trips too and from before she's ready to make her full scale network attack. It's dangerous of course, because that laptop takes up nearly her entire attention span.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
Of course this being what it is, it gets double the patrol time of most neighbourhoods. And being so close to Bea's own actual design house, make that triple. The tarp was visible before, so she kept an eye on it, wondering why it was there and who put it there. Finally she dropped by to investigate, a roiling mass of flame in female form landing on the edge of the building and walking toward it.
Probably some rooftop weed garden. To which the only thing she'd say is "stop being so damned obvious!" if that was the case. With a side of "hook me up with some?"
What? Brazil. Heaven for decent ganja and it's not as if it's going to hurt her lungs now, is it?
"Hey listen, man, if you've got a grow here, you've gotta be smarter about hiding it. I'm surprised DEA hasn't already come down on you."

Chizue Nakamura has posed:
"Douse the light and get down before anyone sees you!" Those shadows are pretty deep, save for the dull off white of that mask as it passes from shadow into ambient. A polygonal animal face, tonight it's a Shiba Inu because why the hell not? Head cocking off to one side as it scans the rooftop for a moment before freezing.

Then that mask recoils back, a black gloved hand emerging to beckon Beatriz into the shadow of that tarp. "And keep it down, theres Triads directly beneath us. Last thing I need right now is Chinese tough guys poking their head up here when I'm trying to crack a network."How many known heroes are there in NYC running around with polygonal masks? Probably none incidentally.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"It's kind of hard to douse, well, me," Bea says cheerfully as she approaches. "I'm the light here. It's not something I carry. Now if you had hidden your grow properly we wouldn't be having this conversation. Just relocate it and disguise it better this time. The best ones just duplicate the rooftop access hut with patterned cloth that looks the same."
As she sees the weird mask she cocks her head. "This some kind of anti-AI mask?"

Chizue Nakamura has posed:
"Yes, also it folds which is convient if I wanna change it aro-...Ok look get between the AC units at least so we're not lighting up the whole roof yeah? Cracking open an encrypted network gets a whole lot harder when they know I'm trying to do it yeah, and it's not like a mob bank is going to let that slide without this getting rowdy and wild."Owari retreats back into the little impromptu shelter, before letting out a sigh.

Theres no pot growing in there incidentally, but she has cut a rather wide hole in the roof. From there theres a tangle of wires she's pulled up and spliced herself into, all of it running to either that tiny little laptop decorated with cutesy bunnies dressed like ninjas and whatever rig she's got strapped to her back beneath that short cloak of hers. Ninja hacker indeed.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
Bea stares at what's really there in place of the grow she was expecting. "OK, I'm pretty sure this is not legal and that it's not a grow," she says, paging Captain Obvious for an appearance. There's no real change in her demeanour, but something in the way the flame roils inside her indicates that she's now much more wary and awake. And likely suspicious.
"Why don't you explain what it is you think you're doing before Mr. Police gets called and gives you a little chat with Mr. Prosecutor and Mr. Judge before Mr. Cell contains you?"

Chizue Nakamura has posed:
"Look this Yakuza bank has a hard coded trigger, when I try to withdraw more then fifty grand it's going to burn it's going to immediately back itself up onto the main servers. Then it'll fry all the drives, and let everyone know somebody tried to rip the bank off. Meanwhile the trojan I already burried in the database will get dumped onto their main machine, and ring home. Then I'll have full access to their entire illicit network, and can use their contact system to start ripping phone numbers and tracking down the gangsters."Owari just lifts a hand.

"I'm a card carrying member of the Tokyo Justice Association, and of course it's illegal. "She does lift a gloved hand under that cloak to root around, before producing that large oval gold coin bearing kanji on side and a bunch of numbers on the other. "Would you rather I busted in there and started breaking fingers until somebody told me what I wanted to know?"

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Honestly, yes. That sounds like a great deal more fun," Bea says, looking over the gold coin curiously. "May I?" she asks, picking up the coin without bothering to wait for permission, flipping it over and examining it. "Was a time I could have that checked in a second," she says, "but the League hasn't been a useful resource in a long while. I'll take you at your word for now. Just be aware that my code name is pretty descriptive: Fire. You probably don't want it burning you if you've ticked me off."
She smiles and hands back the coin.
"So you're hacking into a criminal bank to gather information, then? Wish I would have known. I'd have come dressed for infiltration."

Chizue Nakamura has posed:
"Well and ripping off fifty grand of dirty money, you got a charity you like in particular?"She accepts that gold coin back gently, tucking it away as she gets back to her typing furiously. "I know your name, had a friend who thought you were the coolest. Had posters and everything, they'd be losing their mind if they were here right now."She glances up a touch, before reaching over to offer a rice ball from her also ninja-bunny themed bento.

"I am the Ninja called Owari, I am told my name is also descriptive."Theres a pause there as she scans her screen for a moment longer, before hitting another key and.."The Yakuza in town are playing money launderer for a bunch of outlaw Ninja clans, which is why I'm here and back home in Tokyo. Well that and I speak English."

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"I'm kind of hard to keep secret," Bea laughs. "Something about being a woman-shaped ball of flame makes me stand out a bit. I have quite the following on the Internet. Go to podcasts and all that where they point the cameras at me closely because they think I'm naked. It's kinda fun in a pathetic sort of way."
She shrugs easily. "If you have anything wooden, I can quickly burn my signature through it for your friend. I'll expect to see it on eBay in a few weeks after that."
She pauses and muses before continuing slowly, tapping her chin. "Educational or medical charities are my kind of thing. If there's a burn victim fund, I'm down for that."

Chizue Nakamura has posed:
"Nothing wooden, though it'd be awkward anyway. My then partner hooked up with the fan girl's Ex, and she lost her mind. We had a bit of a fight, my first time fighting a real A-lister for keeps."She was in jail for awhile after that, but now she's some sort of something for the Yakuza. Last time I ever fought in a maid's costume, which broke a lot of hearts incidentally."Theres a flurry of key strokes before nodding. "Aye-yah, alright found a burn center."

She rolls that tiny laptop around to give Bea a look, and well theres actually a -ton- of tabs spread across the screen. Most of it still in Kanji, incidentally. "Hit the enter Key, and the script will do the rest. All the better you make the donation yeah?"

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
Bea is multilingual ... but none of them dealing with Chinese-based writing systems. She gives the tabs a once-over, but ... well ... just admits she has no idea. And no fingerprints so it doesn't matter. She hits enter, making sure she doesn't accidentally burn the plastic or the case.
"I really hope you're not playing me," she says. "I'd be so disappointed." She eyes Chizue briefly, then the hole in the roof, then the computer. "How about as a sign of goodwill you share the addresses with me. I've got my own work to do and if these people are laundering in my neighbourhood in the garment district, I want a piece of the action."

Chizue Nakamura has posed:
"This is Ninja work, your time is better spent on the heavy hitters."The screen immediately begins entering characters, and numbers are moving and code is running and theres sixteen bit Bunnies hopping around and one of them is in a tophat and then.."New York City Burn Fund, first one I googled. Give them a ring in the morning, just dont tell them where the cash came from yeah?"

She spins that computer around, unhooks her leads and snags another laptop which she plugs in. This done she tucks her own rig into the small of her back, and lets that cloak slowly power up. "Time to run, Fire. Catch you around yeah?"And already she's fading into the background, all but the edges growing increasingly vague.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Well, wasn't that interesting?" Bea wonders aloud as she watches Chizue fade away. And, while she isn't active any longer, she still has friends in Brazilian intelligence. Time to ask about that coin...
"Well, best go before the thugs come up here and find me. I wouldn't want them wasting ammunition on me after all."
She walks over to the edge of the roof and looks down, checking out her neighbourhood for a while before flying off, leaving the Yakuza to their own devices for now.
