Happy Bird Day To You
Date of Scene: 30 November 2021
Location: Roof - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: This was not the way Kian thought his First Flight anniversary would go, with rather more than just a trimensional chat with friends and family.
Cast of Characters: Kian, Bart Allen, Kaida Connolly, Terry O'Neil, Gar Logan

Kian has posed:
Up on the roof, safely encased in a warming sphere of infrared light to stave off the late November chill, there's Kían.
Not just Kían, at least not virtually.  Trimensional holographic birdfolk are there as well—his parents Kái and Erýn, his sister and brother Shíri and Keth, his friends Raká and Kiár and Áre and Kála.  Others flick in and out as the spirit moves them.
Kían is celebrating the anniversary of his First Flight.  Consider it the moral equivalent of a birthday party… a bird-day party, perhaps?
In any case, sprawled on a deck chair, warmed by the aforementioned sphere of infrared warmth, is Kían.  He's chatting with the trimensional birdfolk, in his own language.
    Good luck with that.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen comes running up the side of the building as he noticed something was going on up there.  He skids to a stop once on top of the building blinking and looking around at all the holographic birds.  And says, "Um… am I interrupting things?" he asks Kian moving over towards him since he is the real bird there.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"Doo doo doo da doo doo da doo doo doo."  A tiny voice speaks as Kaida comes walking out on to the roof.  She moves across a somewhat snowy portion of the roof rather easily, the snow easily able to support her tiny weight as she scampers across the roof and blinks at all the peoples here.  She looks up at them as she passes and waves as she moves till she finally reaches the chair where Kian is and leaps up on to a chair next to his.  She idly rubs tiny hands together and puts them out toward Kian.
"Hi!" she states to him and to the other people here, looking from one to the other and then grinning at Bart.  She may be interrupting.  She might not be but she doesn't care.  It's kinda her thing to just show up to places and things.
    "What's up?"

Terry O'Neil has posed:
And coming out of the elevator is none other than the Cheshire Cat.
"Oh, hey guys!" he waves at Kaida and Bart, "You joining us?  It's Kian's special day."
Behind him, there is an enchanted line of crates walking behind him—small crates of selected chocolates, destined for a very special purpose.  Realizing who he is talking to, he grins and points.  "Chocolate's off-limits.  Special diplomatic shipment."

Kian has posed:
"It iss a special day!" Kían says, leading into the inevitable explanation.  "This iss the anniversary of my Firs' Flight, when I became an adult.  In fac' it iss my tenth anniversary… nnh.  You woul' call it the eighth, I think.  But it iss the tenth, by the way we count."
He flits over and favors Terry with a hug and a kiss, glancing back at Bart.  "You are not interruptin' anythin', unless you want to stop me celebratin' my Firs' Flight!"
To Kaida, he turns a bright smile.  "It iss the celebration of the firs' time I flew on my own.  We celebrate it the same way Eart' people celebrate their birt' day."
He nabs a chocolate from Terry's train of crates.  "It iss my day, it iss not off limits to me!"
There are a chorus of kiés to Terry from Kían's friends and family, who have gotten to meet the chaos cat that one time before.  Kían's sister adds something further, that Kían translates as, "Shíri wan's to know if you are keepin' me entertained, Terry.  I would say yes, but I will let you answer for yourse'f."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will hmm and nod.  He will zoom off and is actually gone maybe a full minute.  Is he coming back?

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"What?!"  Kaida raises her hands up and waves them in the air.  "That's like, SUPER IMPORTANT!" she declares and then she looks around as Bart runs off and then huffs, "No fair, I'm not that fast!"  She then considers and taps her foot for a moment before she turns and points at Terry and waggles a finger.
"You should have told me!"  She then races off and is at the edge of the elevator shaft and points back.
"I shall return!"  And with that she falls backwards down the hole.

Terry O'Neil has posed:
"…I've been a little preoccupied with Metropolis turni— and they're off."  The Cheshire cat shakes his head, and returns Kian's kiss before grinning over at the bird-man's sister and giving her the best Groucho Marx eyebrow-waggle he can muster as a non-verbal reply.  He hopes the gesture carries through and that he hasn't accidentally insulted the family with a grievous insult.
He probably should have checked with Kian first.

Kian has posed:
Shíri giggles and waves at Terry.  She seems to be not discomfited by the cat.
"That was Bart an' Kaida, but they haf disappeared for the time bein'," Kían tries to explain.  "Eart' people come an' go quickly, an' not always wit' a good explanation."  He remains with an arm and a wing draped around Terry's shoulders."
Kían of course has the decency to translate: actually, it comes out of the trimensional unit, although it's not a hard guess that Kían himself is providing the translation for it to speak aloud.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen shows back up with a huge basket full of stuff, and says, "Happy flight day."  In his basket he has chocolates from around the world, a book on manned flight on Earth, as well as a model of the Wright Brothers plane.  He has got some self care items in there like vitamins and some lotions that should be good for Kian's feathers, at least if they are like Earth bird feathers.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
Not long after Bart returns, a bag flops up on to the edge of the elevator shaft and then Kaida comes up after it.  She grabs the bag and hefts it before rushing over to where Kian is, smiling as she watches Bart shower him in gifts and she offers the bag to him.
"Happy first flight or whatever the proper term is!"  She points at the bag with a smile.  "That's for you!"  And if Kian looks inside, he'll find that it is has a candy cane, a bag of candy corn, several fun size candies, a hood ornament (a flying eagle), and a key chain compass.

Terry O'Neil has posed:
"Well, now I am feeling a bit outdone here.  I didn't get you anything!"  A pause as he leans back against Kian with a rogueish grin.  "Well, nothing you could wrap, anyways."  A pause.  "Actually—"
It's a good thing he does not decide to pursue that train of thought, and instead says, "That's very thoughtful of you, Bart and Kaida.  These fine folks are Kian's family, as you can see."  He gestures to their representation.

Gar Logan has posed:
From somewhere near the elevator, someone fades into view, somehow.  Green skin, meaning the identity ought to be obvious once he's noticed.  The question is mainly in how Gar did it.  Considering he grew from a small size, there's probably a clue as to what he was.  Hands in pockets, he's in a long-sleeved hoodie along with pants and shoes.  "Hey, guys.  How's it going?"

Kian has posed:
Kían beams at Bart and Kaida.  "Thank you!  That was not necessary, but thank you!"  Each gets a hug, carefully, with the birdman's mind held in check so as to not intrude on them.  He beeps Kaida's nose.  "'Happy Flight Day' would be most correct, but I know Earth people would not know that.  I am jus' happy that you woul' celebrate this with me."
He returns to Terry's side, draping arm and wing around his shoulders again.  "An' Terry iss right, these are my family an' frien's," Kian explains further.  The young man and woman who look not unlike him are introduced as his older sister Shíri and younger brother Keth, as well as his parents Kái and Erýn, and friends Raká, Kiár, Áre and Kála, and each bows in turn as they hear their names.
The birdman flits over to greet Gar with a hug, and Kían's mom adds (via the translation provided by Kían's receiver and Kían's own mind), "I want to thank all of you for bein' frien's of Kían.  He iss so happy with all of you."
And perhaps predictably, Kála adds for Gar particularly, "Kié, pretty green bird.  Are you keepin' in practice with Kían?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will look to each as he is introduced and nods his head a bit in greeting.  And says, "It is a pleasure to meet you and celebrate this day with Kian."  He does hug Kian back at the hug and says, "Are there any special activites with the day?"

Kaida Connolly has posed:
Hugging Kaida is kinda like hugging a small stuffed animal but Kaida does leap up to allow this.  As each member is introduced, she leaps up before the image to be at face level, give a tiny wave and return to the ground.  Grinning as she does so as she is very aware of how hard she can be to see from afar.  Also, she has no clue how whatever technology they are using works at all.  So, she assumes they see with their eyes.
"It's good to meet you all!" she declares and then spins around on the ground and walks over to Kian to look up at him briefly before she zips over to Gar and leaps up to say.  "It's Kian's Flying Day and we're celebrating by doing things and stuff."  It takes two leaps to deliver the message but Kaida is soon back over by Terry, moving up with a leap to his shoulder and pointing at him.
    "Don't be gross, Terry."

Terry O'Neil has posed:
"I am never gross, merely provocative, Kaida."
Terry is very good at feigning wounded pride, as most cats are.  He grins at Kala addressing Gar, and he says, "Watch out, pretty green bird is out, he's going to preen all day over that."  He also goes to greet Gar with a kiss, leaning in on the opposite shoulder where Kaida is sitting.
"Actually, I am not entirely sure what you do on a First Flight anniversary except flying.  But only Kian can do that."

Gar Logan has posed:
They may not have seen it, but Gar was there as a chameleon.  Now he's himself, and giving Kian and Terry proper greetings in return, along with waving toward Bart and squinting at the jumpy Kaida.  "Yeah, I know.  He told me he was gonna do this.  He watched over my First Flight, too."  There is a subtle touch to the coppery phoenix pendant he's got on, that is strikingly colored.
"Did I hear someone call me a 'pretty green bird?'  I recognize that voice.  Kié, Kala.  Yes, we are practicing, but you might have to be more specific about what kind."  Of course he already knows what kind.  He also waves to the others through the holoview set up.  "This is pretty neat tech.  First time using it here, Kian?"

Kian has posed:
Kian beams at Bart and Terry.  "You mean other than enjoyin' the day?  No, not really.  I haf already done the religious rites for the day, now it iss for sittin' back and havin' fun."
He shakes his head at Gar.  "No, not the firs' time, though it iss the firs' time I haf try to manage translation from Akiár'shak to Engliss an' back.  The min' port iss a very handy thing."
His brother and mom both nod; Kála grins at Gar without offering further questions.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods his head a bit and will have a seat for now, looking at the holographic people noticing the differences between each of them to plan on asking Kian about some of them at a later date.  "Well if there is anything you want let me know and I will go grab it."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"Well, then I choose to eat!"  Kaida grins and hops down to sit on the arm of Kian's chair and pull out from her pack a small sandwich.  She grins as she begins to dig in and considers.  "I really need to see about getting a bag of holding."  She nods her head sagely as she proceeds.

Terry O'Neil has posed:
"Well, Kaida, maybe we can get Nadia to invent something based on how my Rabbit Holes work.  It wouldn't be a bag of holding but it would be a bag to your own private holding room, which is close to that."
Terry remains standing, to stretch his legs, and then points to the crates.  "Oh, Kian, do they know about The Thing?" he asks, gesturing, "because I figured now would be a good time as any to spring the surprise, no?"

Gar Logan has posed:
Gar Logan takes a few steps closer to the holographic versions of the Akiar, realizing just how far-reaching this must be for them to be able to communicate like this and actually see each other.  Even without the wings and the Akiar features of his own, Gar looks much the same as they saw him back there.
"It seems like it's working pretty well.  And one of these days, I'll be back there to fly again," he promises.

Kian has posed:
    "Oh, definitely," Kian agrees.
"I hope so!" Kala put in.  "I wan' you to be my secret weapon sometime!"
Terry gets a blank look.  "There are so many thin's the thin' could be," he says with good natured exasperation, and appropriating another small chocolate for himself.  "Unless you mean these?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen's brow raises a bit but for now, he will watch and listen, not interrupting, enjoying the show of friendship and more between the three,

Terry O'Neil has posed:
    "Well… this surprise!"
It has been pre-planned before, of course.  Terry would simply not do this without Kian's agreement, considering things.  "Prepare for an onslaught of… the best thing you'll have had in your life!"
It takes several seconds, but the Rabbit Hole finally opens after Terry concentrates all of his Chaos magic into it.  An unfathomable distance is pierced in the blink of an eye, and opens to the other side—Kian's world, to greet his family with a walking line of crates loaded with absolute delights.  Chocolate.

Kian has posed:
Kian is ready, of course, to start shuttling chocolate across the lightyears.  "The box wit' the white labels iss for the imperials, make sure it gets sent to Ría q'San!"  Gar and Terry may well remember Ría as the viceroy of Kyshán, with whom they spoke while on Kían's world.  "If they want more, we can make a trade!  An'—"
What Kían meant to say further is lost in a startled squawk, and the only reason any translation comes through is because Kían is too surprised to break contact with the mindport.
As the chocolate moves through from Earth to Kyshán, Shíri acts on apparently a whim, grabbing their brother Keth by the wrist.  «Come on!»
And before they've slipped through the Rabbit Hole, Kála is close on their heels.  «Wait for me!»
"Wh—!"  Beyond that, Kían is speechless—and tackled by his siblings.  Unless Gar moves quickly, he's facing the same fate by Kála.
This part was not planned by Kían and Terry.

Gar Logan has posed:
No, Gar is not really expecting them to suddenly be rushed by the group of Akiar, now that the rabbit hole has been opened up.  It was just going to be a delivery of some good stuff—he even scrounged up some especially tasty chocolate biscuits from Australia, called Tim Tams—but winged people are making a quick approach.
"Oh no, we're being invaded!" he says, not sounding serious at all if the laugh is a sign.  "Oh, hello there!"  Kala may surprise him with the tackle, but he isn't exactly putting up much resistance as he looks up at her with a playful grin.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen blinks at this but will move rather quick, he takes the cushions off the couches and such here, and puts them around the guys so at least when they are tackled thay will have a soft landing.

Terry O'Neil has posed:
If Terry is surprised by this, he doesn't show it.  It might have something to do with the concentration needed to keep the portal open.  But once the siblings pass and the chocolate leaves, that Rabbit Hole collapses and a *puff* of chaos magic leaves Terry.  And then, he takes a seat.  Or, rather, decorously sits down on one of the cushions Bart provided.  Kian knows what this means: He is out of juice for at least a day, or so.
"Well… guess we better make room for our guests," the Cheshire says, a little woozy.  Okay, VERY woozy.

Kian has posed:
"Ki-AI!"  Kian finally finds his voice.  Even though he himself switches back to his own language, the translation comes through his mental link to the trimensional receiver: «What are you—you can't—Shíri!!»
«Pff, your tenár can send us back as soon as he recovers.  It's my responsibility as your big sister to make sure you're safe and sound.»
«And you had to drag Keth along too?»
She levels a perfect big sister look at him.  «I'm broadening his horizons.  It's been good for you, after all.»
    «You can't, you have to go b—»
    *puff*
Kian switches back to English.  "Oh, shit…."
