Too Pool to Cool
Date of Scene: 03 December 2021
Location: Olympic Pool: Triskelion
Synopsis: Lara and Bobbi swim then chat. Physical and mental health are important, apparently!
Cast of Characters: Lara Croft, Bobbi Morse

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara's activity regimen was, to put it mildly, odd. She didn't touch weight sets, but she did a lot of running. Parkour should have been right up her alley, but for some reason, she didn't partake of such things, instead running a set obstacle course repeatedly. It did everything parkour would for her, only it was calibrated to her specific abilities. She pushed herself just to the edge of what she could do, recalibrating the course when her abilities grew.
Currently, she is dressed in a very specific set of clothes she works out in. Bursting through the door of the swimming pool, the 'archaeologist' is in a dead run. She jumps up to one of the platforms for pool laps and launches her sweaty self into a dive. There's hardly a splash where she enters. She transitions quickly from dead run to fast swim. She spends a surprising amount of time underwater, getting a full lap done before returning to the surface. She's not going to beat anyone's time, but one suspects that isn't the point.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Given the manner of individual that SHIELD tends to attract, many have quirky work out regimines let alone personalities. Bobbi Morse is really no different. Though for her part, it now has more to do with the Infinity Serum that has permanently altered her body than just that she does not need to work out. That would be a lie; given the personal challenges she has experienced with adjusting her mind to the nearly lightning speed of her reflexes.

To that end, Bobbi has taken to working out to try and equalize the disparity between mind and body. She is currently making laps swimming the backstroke. It lets her look up at the ceiling, watching the supports and beams slip past. Only the sound of the water in her ears. She has found a nearly meditative groove, maintaining a comfortable pace.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara is not in a bathing suit, but her workout clothes. That, more than anything else, is what gets a few people to look at her oddly. However, after a few power laps in the lane next to Bobbi Morse, the fellow SHIELD agent slowly slows her pace, letting her heart rate decrease while taking the burden off her sweat glands to cool herself. Eventually, she's doing a lazy backstroke next to Bobbi, her body already having come down to a normal idling pace. Benefits of being in shape, one supposes.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi Morse was wearing a rather modest one piece suit specifically for swimming laps. It isn't like one comes to the SHIELD pool to show off and be seen. Those manner of swim suits are left for missions to Barbados or Cancun.

Here and now, Bobbi was deep in her own mind, focusing on feeling the communicaion within her body. With some additional laps, she becomes aware, first by the extra wake crossing between lanes, and then out of her peripheral vision, that she had picked up a swimming companion in the moment. Silently she welcomed this distraction as it posed a new challenge. Become aware of the world outside of her own head. It forced her to multitask and train her mind to utilize more energy to continue her pace and coordination while sensing the world around her again.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara continues to swim for a while, then stops at the end of one lap. While still in the pool, she begins doing some stretches as part of her workout cool-down. It's not a particularly grueling thing, and everyone's gone back to being pretty professional about her dressing oddly for pool-time.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi Morse finishes two more laps before gliding to a stop beside Lara at the end of the pool. Reaching an arm up to rest on the rim of the pool she looks over and offers a smile, "Agent Croft. Hello." A glance to the distorted vision of Lara's attire through the water, "Non-standard workout regimine today, hmm?"

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara looks over at Bobbi Morse and stops stretching, holding onto the pool's edge with a hand as she turns to face the other woman. "Hardly," she says in her vaguely Surrey, high-class, British accent. "We have agents with innate strength high enough the weight room has more powerful electromagnets and reinforcement than a junkyard crane. My workout has been approved." She idly kicks her legs below her as she continues with a smile, "How are you, Agent Morse?"

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi Morse shakes her head, "I wasn't judging" her voice quiet. She idly kicks her own legs to offset the weight through her arm holding the edge. "I'm doing well, thanks for asking." She isn't completely convinced of the truth in those words but she wasn't going to outright advertise it. At least intentionally. "Taking some time to enjoy my own thoughts." It seemed the simplest way to paraphrase her reasons for swimming laps solo.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara turns her back to the wall, heels of both hands planted firmly, and hoists herself up. Dripping with the chlorinated water, she asks, "Any thoughts worth sharing?"

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi Morse continued to tread water for a few more moments while she considered the answer to the question. A dip of her head and she responds, "Mostly reflecting on the year. It's been eventful. Largely, I am remembering the value of taking time for myself. Good mental health is as important as good physical health, mm?" She then lifts herself up out of the water to sit on the lip, letting the water drip off her body for a moment.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara nods. She looks around at all the other agents swimming, getting ready to swim, or being done swimming. There's a few stretching, a few dripping, and most in swimwear. She looks at Bobbi. "I find the former follows the latter in many cases." The drippy brunette considers the pool again for a moment. "If this isn't therapist territory, we could hit the showers and find somewhere to chat? Not exactly my field, of course."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi Morse laughs quietly. "Yeah. It's easy to get caught up in what we do, and forget that aspect till it's almost mandatory." She move to stand up. "I don't know about needing therapy but I wouldn't say no to a good cup of coffee and a danish. After these laps I've earned it" she declares with a determined nod.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara also stands. "I think they've got biscuits in the cafeteria, today," she offers starting toward the showers. "Not exactly a danish, but if we get there soon, they should still be nice and soft and fresh."
