Highway to N.O.W.H.E.R.E.
Date of Scene: 06 December 2021
Location: The Highway between New York and Bludhaven
Synopsis: Nadia meets Fuji in a lonely highway. And decides to visit N.O.W.H.E.R.E. because SCIENCE! Of course it is a trap. She know it is a trap. They know she knows it is a trap. But does she knows they know she knows it is a trap? Probably, as they roofied her Chai, the villains!
Cast of Characters: Nadia Pym-van Dyne, Conner Kent

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia is a busy girl, some might even argue the busiest of girls. Between being a Titan, the leader of her own super science think tank, an Avenger sidekick, and even sometimes SHIELD consultant, nevermind Pym and van Dyne family things, she has a lot going on and a lot of places she needs to be, often multiple within the same day. Never a fan of the Hyper Loup, she used to prefer to just fly everywhere she needed to go, staying small enough to evade FAA and DEO radars. This was a largely safe and effective means of getting around. However that changed recently when both of her parents decided to give her cars for her 17th birthday after she finally obtained a legal US driver's license. Since then, well her wings can't match the top speeds of either car she received and Nadia has always had a penchant for speed, that the Red Room trained her in drift racing and other insane getaway techniques certainly doesn't help matters. Which has lead to her, despite the inherent risks, driving places instead of flying more often than not.

So it is on this winter evening that she is cruising down one of her favorite stretches of road, the interstate highway that runs between New Jersey and Metropolis pushing the engines of her Tesla Model S to hard enough that it is good Janet convinced her to build radar sensors to detect police cars into both vehicles. She of course added the convertible option that Tesla doesn't normally even do, but what good is being a super genius engineer if you can't even turn your car into a convertible. With the top down and the chill wind in her hair, she seems unbothered as she rocks out to some heavy metal tunes one of the newest Titans introduced her to.

Conner Kent has posed:
Too fast on the highway, check. Modified a Tesla, check. Using radar to avoid the police, check. Wow, Nadia sure shows her Red Room training... wait, she is doing what most teenagers would do if they could get away with it.

So everything is pretty normal in this fine evening. The highway is surprisingly clear of traffic, no police radar in the sensors and Nadia is Russian enough she is not getting her nose frozen yet. Also, there is a guy in a giant armor suit just ahead, waving at her friendly-like. She could probably avoid him, maybe, depending on how fast Fuji is in that huge Hulkbuster-like armor.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
It was such a nice evening, such a nice drive, such great music, and NOWHERE had to go and ruin it. Fuji is the last individual Nadia wanted to see on a lonely stretch of highway while driving a car full of computers. It'd be a simple matter for Nadia to hack a Tesla and seize control, she had no doubt it would /trivial/ for Fuji after he was able to breach the GIRL computer networks during their previous encounter.

The car is not how she is getting away if she is going to get out of this. Applying her foot to the break Nadia begins to slow the vehicle eventually bringing it to a stop a short distance from Fuji. As she does so, she reaches into her jacket and hits alert buttons on both her Titans and Avengers comms.

Once the car is safely stopped she waves at Fuji giving him an awkward smile, he was the semi-reasonable one after all, "Strange place for a walk, have you decided to defect?" Wishful thinking perhaps, her name does mean 'Hope' after all. At the same time she's already planning to shrink and zip away on tiny wings at the first scene of danger.

Conner Kent has posed:
"Hi," greets the armored giant. He seems to be a little confused by Nadia's question, but then he shakes his head. "No, I would have tried the Titan's Tower for that. But actually I am here because we are just half-way between... well, you know."

Yes, it is pretty much the worst place to get ambushed. Fuji seems to know a bit about black ops. Also, the road being this empty? EXTREMELY suspicious. In retrospective.

"Actually, I wanted to ask you to come with me quietly. No fighting or anything," does asking ever work? Maybe Fuji is also very into wishful thinking. "Dr. Harvest was pretty angry about the stuff you did with Robin and Superboy. But he never stays angry for long, so I am sure we can fix this."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Of course not, they never seem to decide to just defect and change sides. Why can't life be more like that magical girl animation from Japan that Terry showed her where the villains can all be won over with the power of friendship?

"Really Cait's baked goods alone are worth heading to Titans Tower." Nadia calls back as she kills the engine and actually leans over and opens car door getting out. As she does, she flicks a small Pym Disc at the comms broadcasting to the Titans and the Avengers left on the seat of the car, shrinking them out of sight.

In her mind, Nadia is turning the situation over and over again trying to figure out the play. Fuji is clearly not the one they should be sending after her. He couldn't catch her last time and there seems to be no reason this time should go any differently. There must be something she isn't seeing and yet if these people really do come from the future, they already likely know what her first instinct in this situation would normally be and are waiting for it. In the end there is only one conclusion that she arrives at. "Okay, I surrender. Take me to your leader. That's what people say right?" She says raising her hands as if to show she's unarmed. One conclusion: Cooperate and infiltrate NOWHERE to bring them down from within. Sure, some plans will need to be canceled, but she's tired of being ambushed and attacked.

Conner Kent has posed:
"Really? Oh well, that is great," decides Fuji. "It is not a trick, is it?" He seems to be listening to something for a few seconds. "Great... come with me, please." To the invisible spaceship just appearing a few feet over the highway, because of course they have invisible spaceships. Very Star Trek.

"We just have to pick up some people in Gotham, shouldn't take more than five minutes," mentions Fuji, gesturing Nadia to follow him to the extensible ramp just being lowered for their convenience.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia shakes her head shutting the car door behind her, though the keys are actually left in the ignition of the now silent car. "Not a trick. I mean, if I don't you're just going to keep attacking me right? And that's really inconvenient, so I might as well just go with you. Though really, Cait's cooking is to die for, if you decide to defect Titans Tower is definitely the right place to do it.

When the spaceship appears Nadia's eyes do get big with excitement and one could just see the curiosity shining within them. She does love spaceships. "Ooooh, that is pretty cool!" She makes a mental note to herself to steal their spaceship cloaking technology for the GS Tereshkova. "This is just like that show Gar is on, Space Trek! Beam us up!" She seems almost disappointed when a ramp extends instead but she follows after Fuji up the ramp.

When he mentions Gotham, her outward expression doesn't change but inwardly she steels herself. Nadia was put through some terrible things in the Red Room, but right now it is that very training that might just get her and her friends out of this.

Conner Kent has posed:
"Well, I can't eat food anymore..." admits Fuji. He sounds a little sad, this time. On top of the ramp there is a woman with strawberry blond hair, cut in a choppy fashion. There is a red blindfold covering her eyes, and her dress is a weird mix of goth and strange. "Hello, Nadia, I am Omen," she says, looking at the younger woman as if she could see her perfectly. "I am sorry, but your fears are correct, many of the Outsiders have been captured. Fortunately no one died."

The ramp retracts, and the spaceship lights dim. Or rather, they become diffused. "It is not a cloaking device," explains Fuji. "We move out of phase with the world, it is more like... like your friend, Viv Vision does. Much harder to track than a mere holographic cloak."

"Fuji, please," interrupts Omen. "At least wait until we are in Colony Zero before telling Nadia the principles of our best technology." At which Fuji scratches the back of his armoured neck. "Oh right, I am sorry, Ms. Lilith. I mean, Omen."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
"Can't is such a strong word, I'm pretty sure I could figure something out." Nadia tells Fuji with a wink. Because 'can't' really isn't something Nadia generally entertains, it is all a matter of 'how' and how much SCIENCE! is required.

Her smile remains when she sees Omen, "Fear? I'd be more afraid for whoever you sent them than for the Outsiders themselves. They're really hard to kill. That's a professional opinion." It very much is too, the Red Room kept all kinds of dossiers on various Heroes to study their weaknesses and how to take them down and from everything Nadia has seen of them in the field, despite their youth they are a more effective team than most.

She definitely does make a note of Omen voicing things she did not actually say though and makes a point of eliminating unnecessary stray thoughts, focusing on things like advanced Quantum physics, the newest Dazzler album, and magical girl stories instead.

"Does this ship have a coffee machine? I'd kill for a latte or maybe some Chai." She asks, even while considering some potential applications for the technology Fuji is describing.

Conner Kent has posed:
Omen smiles when Nadia starts shielding her thoughts, "we have Chai, you will not like the coffee," and she said 'will' not 'would'. The bad coffee is one of Colony Zero worst features. Poor Tim.

It is also better if Nadia is in the kitchen when the Outsiders are brought on board, since they don't look very good and they are going straight to containment/life support tanks. "We will be in Colony Zero in forty minutes," mentions the blindfolded woman. "Oh, it is better if you give me your weapons and tracking devices. They will be found anyway, so they won't be of any use when you attempt to escape."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
"Weapons? I am clearly unarmed." And really it seems to be true, Nadia doesn't generally carry many things that would be termed as weapons on her person. It is one of the Red Room's most basic techniques, telling the technical truth, keeping things within that zone where truth and lie blur together into the same thing. The necklace with her tiny miniaturized spare suit that she wears around her neck certainly isn't a weapon, not in her mind and she can't very well give them the Pym Particles in her blood.

"Attempt to escape? Wouldn't that defeat the point of coming here? If I wanted to escape, I'd already be in the microverse." She smiles. "This tech is just too cool though, I love it. Now about that Chai?"

Conner Kent has posed:
Omen tilts her head and nods, maybe wisely deciding not to argue with the young woman. She brought Chai, which is much better, in her opinion, that Colony Zero's coffee.

So, Omen brought Chai to the spaceship just for Nadia, and tried to make it easier for her, too, because sometimes a seer can change the future with her words. It is the observer paradox, applicable to quantum physics and precognition, with pretty much the same drawbacks.

In this case, it didn't work out well.

Which is why Nadia will be sleeping in a few minutes. Courtesy of really good Chai, with a touch of sleep drugs.
