Cast of Characters: Roland Livingston, Clint Barton

Roland Livingston has posed:
It's a quiet night in Brooklyn. This late, or this early depending on one's perspective, things seem to be calm. Of course, that's not the whole truth of the matter. There is something about that preys on people. A couple of bodies were found partially consumed and some calls for assistance went out.

One of those calls went out to Roland, a guy who happens to consult for the NYPD on matters of the occult and arcane. When his phone rang and he received word that he was needed he quickly packed a few things, got in his SUV and went out to take a look at the crime scene. After examining things for a few minutes he seems to have reached a conclusion as to what the murderer is. A demonic tiger.

Livingston fills the police in on what he knows. They're at least as strong and fast as normal tigers, with the ability to blend into the shadows and to perceive their surroundings supernaturally well. They can even climb sheer surfaces using their impossibly sharp claws. Generally they're summoned to work as assassins, though after their mission is complete they become free agents and start going after anyone or anything they choose. Once they've had a taste for human flesh it's all they want to consume.

As the cops make some more calls Roland gets ready to hunt the demon himself. He dons night vision goggles, a plate carrier with a custom made tactical tomahawk attached to the front, a war belt with a pistol on it and a quiver before grabbing a compound bow. Once dressed for battle he begins the dangerous task of tracking the demon, using old fashioned know how combined with a thermal scanner. Soon he finds himself on one of the rooftops, staring down at some of the beast's paw prints.

Clint Barton has posed:
There is no such thing as a quiet night in New York.

Something always goes bump in the night. Someone is always getting mugged, shot, beaten, battered, bruised....there's always something going on in this city, which means that one Clint Barton is never out of a job. Despite his dedication to SHIELD, Hawkeye was still an Avenger and still had a responsibility to the common people. He wasn't one of the people on the team that only helped out when the going got so tough that people couldn't handle it anymore.

No, he's got arrows for everybody.

So one could say he was on patrol tonight....that is, until one of his SHIELDmates gave him a tip that there was some weird shit going on in Brooklyn, and he should give it a looksie. Something about a demonic tiger? Well, Clint's faced off against worse. He sticks to the rooftops, placing he couldn't quite be caught unawares, and he grabs some unique arrows to take with him, making a quick stop at a nearby church to dip it in some salts and holy water.

The shit that works.

Right?

But...well, Clint starts moving along the rooftop, then he notices someone stalking the predator. he draws an arrow swiftly, already at full draw within seconds, and his eye is on Roland Livingston. "Hey there pal, a little late to be stalking the rooftops, isn't it?"

Roland Livingston has posed:
When he hears a bowstring drawn Roland looks towards the sound only to spot another archer staring down his sights at him. He stops moving completely. "It's never too late to hunt monsters," says the Englishman, his accent sounding as upper class as it gets. "I imagine you're after the tiger, as well?"

"I'm a consultant for the police on supernatural matters," says the young adventurer. "My name is Roland Livingston. I hunt things that prey on humans."

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint keeps his sights on Roland, his arrow - from the Englishman's standpoint - would be a headshot if he didn't move after the arrow was released. Knowing Clint's ability...it would be difficult for him to miss unless Roland could dodge fast. But Hawkeye takes a deep, slow breath as Roland suggests that it's never too late to hunt monsters. "Well, you're right about that. Question is, are you one of them?" Clint asks, his eyes never moving...never wavering.

Though the mention of the tiger is enough for Clint to maybe slow his role.

He moves his bow to a resting position, maybe giving Roland the space to move freely then without getting shot at. "Good, then we're looking for the same thing. Something about a demonic tiger? What do you make of it, Mr. Livingston?" Clint realizes he forgot his manners.

"Just call me Hawkeye."

Roland Livingston has posed:
"Pleased to make your acquaintance," Roland says as nods his head deeply. "The tiger is, based on what I know about them, looking for a place to hide during the day. It should be full now, so I hope it will be more sluggish than usual. I wouldn't count on it, though."

He looks at the paw prints once more, "It's headed that way. Passed by quite recently, too, so we're close." He points towards an apartment building. "It's damn near impossible to sneak up on one of these things. Generally my family tends to shoot them from as far away as possible, but if it's inside a building with people in it I doubt we'll have that luxury."

Clint Barton has posed:
"Time will tell if the pleasure's mine or not. Never did trust the magic types." Clint looks at Roland, giving him a little bit of a shrug. "No offense." It was a strange thing to him. Magic could accomplish nearly anything so long as you have the tools and the knowledge....and from Clint's perspective, magic was something that could very well be an infinite force to draw from, even if the human body might not be able to withstand it.

It was wild to him.

Clint looks at the paw prints. "Anything can be hit from afar, or even up close. You just gotta know the right angle. I'll let you track the thing, I've never been too hot with animals. Then again, demon tigers is a new one."

Roland Livingston has posed:
"I'm a scholar of the arcane, not a practitioner," Roland explains with a shrug. "I use my knowledge to keep dangerous things away from people who will be harmed by them or who use them to do harm, in addition to addressing supernatural creatures that threaten human lives."

He goes back to the paw prints, following them to the edge of the rooftop and looking down to see where it leads. After a few seconds of consideration he says, "Should be on the third floor, through the second window. It's the only one that's open that will fit a large animal." The young man takes a look around through his night vision goggles before looking back into the apartment in question, "Have you got silver arrowheads or holy water? These things are resistant to everything else, if I recall correctly."
