Beer and a Conversation... at 11am
Date of Scene: 03 January 2022
Location: A little bar in Brooklyn
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Sara Pezzini, Johnny Blaze

Sara Pezzini has posed:
After getting dressed in something more appropriate for leaving the house, Sara decides to just go to the bar right down the street. She'd been there a few times in the past and thus knew that at 11am, it would be open and mostly empty.

The bar tender was a muscular woman in a short sleeved polo shirt and a pair of black slacks. The name tag on the shirt reads, 'Zola' just below the logo for the bar. She looks pleasantly surprised to actually see customers when they enter.

Johnny Blaze has posed:
Johnny was already dressed.

He had decided he would walk with Sara and listen to her and speak with her, even as they went to the most hospitable place in the world: a bar. At 11am. Despite this, the place is open and its mostly empty, much to Johnny's surprise. "Quaint." Johnny tells Sara then as he starts to walk on in with her.

"So...want to talk about it?"

Sara Pezzini has posed:
On the bar are to large covered trays with a variety of different kinds of donuts, and the bat also had coffee, but still most people just swung through on their way some place at this hour. Once inside, she shakes off the hint of cold from the walk, then chooses a corner booth as the location to sit.

"Found this place three days after Cael and I moved in to that apartment," she comments, sliding into the booth. "What's really to talk about? Cael's complicated, damaged, and fighting to just hand in there."

Johnny Blaze has posed:
JOhnny nods ever so slightly to Pezzini.

"Fair enough." He slides into the booth with her as he looks at her, resting his hands on the table as he listens. "Well, Cael obviously doesn't like me there. And I'd rather not force her to cave if she genuinely doesn't like my presence." He frowns then. "Sorry that my presence caused trouble, but I appreciate you sticking up for me. I don't take that lightly." Johnny mentions then with a slight smile.

"But...I understand she's damaged. She seems to dislike my beliefs, which is understandable..given the host is coming to try and destroy us."

Sara Pezzini has posed:
When Zola comes by she actually orders coffee with a splash of Irish Whiskey, and one of the donuts, she wasn't specific on which one.

"It's not just you," she says once he has ordered and Zola moves away. "Sure, this thing is you... but if she says you can stay, then she means it. She didn't cave, she thought about it. I hit blind sided her was all, and her reaction to that was exactly what happened."

She sighs, running her fingers back through her hair to pull it off her face, then she removes her outer coat and lays it on the bench beside her. "It's not my place to go into how or why Cael's damaged, but I'll say that abuse started when she was a kid. She witnessed Alis' murder, and held her only friend as she died. Since then, seven years ago, I'm the first person she's called a friend... so yes, the damage is real and deep." She looks down at her hands, which causes her hair to fall in her face again.

"And uh... I'm too protective of her, for my own personal reasons," now she glances back up at him. "I lost my mother when I was a child, my father four years ago, was 'chosen' by Witchblade two years ago and since then, two partners have been killed and one is still in a coma. I don't have a good track record."

Johnny Blaze has posed:
"Hm."

That's all Johnny replies with at first. "Yeah, well...just wanting to make sure. I don't know Cael. Most of my interactions with her have been negative, both on my side and on hers. So I don't blame her for initially saying no, but happy she eventually decided yes." Johnny sighs a little bit. "Wanted to say thanks. Can't even remember the last time I had a home, and Ghost Rider is a full-time job." He frowns then.

Though he hears about Cael's abuse and what she's been through a little bit, and he frowns. "Yeah...more than enough pain to go around. I'm sorry she went through that. I can imagine." He tells Sara then, but that doesn't make it any better. "Perhaps we can all relate in that way. Pain binds us."

He frowns though at Sara's story. "I'm sorry. That must've been hard. If it makes you feel better, I don't die or hurt easy."

Sara Pezzini has posed:
Zola puts the coffee on the table, along with a small plate containing one glazed donut. She not attempting to listen in, in fact she seems to be timing her moments of coming to the table for in between when one of then is speaking.

"Witchblade wants to be a full time job," she comments once Zola is gone again. Taking the little containers of cream, she tears the tops off of two and pours the cream into her coffee.

"And at the same time, he doesn't... it's hard to explain. Every wielder goes through what I was told is called Periculum, a very specific test that if failed, means death. Every wielder is given a choice of what purpose they seek as the wielder. I've seen in the dreams the periculum of the other wielders, and mine? Well I choose attempting to clean up, to balance this world and he just /loved/ that."

Adding a couple packets of sugar to the coffee, she stirs it a few times. "Wade is a regenerating mutant, the kind that literally can regrow limbs and apparently he has, but he's also got his own shit and job to do. Cael's my SHIELD partner, and she's been working with me with the NYPD as well, but she's breakable... too much so, and it's going to be a constant risk."

Johnny Blaze has posed:
This Zola lady knows her business. She comes in right when she needs to so as to not interrupt the conversation.

Respectable quality.

Though Johnny's eyes lift from the doughnut to Sara as she talks about the Witchblade. "Yeah. Maintaining the balance is something I know well. Demons - or angels - shouldn't be here on the mortal plane. Each have rules. Both break them. Demons more than angels, but the same punishment applies." It sucked being the judge, jury, and executioner. Gave little room for mercy.

...yet, something that Sara says draws his attention. "Sounds like you and Witchblade have a good relationship." He hears about Wade, and JOhnny seems to frown. "So...and I don't mean to offend...Wade is more of a loose canon who comes and goes rather than a partner who sticks, like Cael?" Johnny questions, though he lifts his hands as if defensively.

"Not tryin' to start nothing, just trying to understand. He regenerates? Suppose that satisfies the fear of losin' him to death." Johnny suggests then. "Long as you two arn't tackling the same dangers, should be fine."

Sara Pezzini has posed:
Sara chuckles, taking a sip of the coffee. Picking up the butter knife that came with her silver ware collection, she cuts the donut in half then slides half over to him.

"Wade's not precisely police work material," she says quietly. "He's a great boyfriend, a partner in that way, but uh... his reality is sort of... well, to be honest, most would call him insane."

She chuckles again, remembering how Wade fanboyed over her when they first met and wondering how he would react to the Ghost Rider. Some how Johnny would introduce himself, and Wade would just /know/ who he was. "What did he call it... a cosmic reality check? I think that was it. He knows things," she finally states more clearly. "Things that he shouldn't know, has no way of knowing, and yet he knows. Sometimes they match up to truth perfectly, other times there are difference, some major, some minor. Example. When I met him, I was the Witchblade, with a mask and he knew my real name. He knew things about my life that were true, and some weren't."

She grins, "I know what you're thinking... creeper, he could have just learned this stuff by watching me or something, but there is no way he could have known that Sara Pezzini is the Witchblade wielder. None. Nor could he have known about Kenneth Iron, and a few other things. I don't fully get how he knows it, I just settled on the 'cosmic reality' and let it go cause at the core, he's a great guy."

Johnny Blaze has posed:
"Most?"

Johnny questions, though the more Sara talks, the more concerned Johnny seems to get. "That's...a little weird, Sara." Johnny crosses his arms over his chest. "Doesn't him being a bounty hunter - or whatever his occupation is, interfere with your job as a cop? I don't know how the two occupations intersect, but that's my first thought. Cosmic reality check?" Johnny tilts his head. What does that even mean? Though he catches himself a little bit and he sighs.

"Well...I'm not gonna judge your boyfriend. But you're right, he does sound kinda creepy. In a stalker-y kind of way. Does he just know this with you or is it just kinda with everyone he meets?" Johnny seems wary, but he doesn't seem to rest on the boyfriend topic for too long, anyway. "Kenneth Iron?"

Sara Pezzini has posed:
There is was. The usual reaction that people got when she talked about Wade. Her roommate was broken and mostly insane. Her boyfriend was horribly scarred over his entire body and considered insane. And now her newest friend turned into a flaming skeleton, and she didn't even bat an eye at it.

"He takes legal bounties through various companies, the FBI and police departments around the country. It's still a legal occupation so long as you have required the licenses, and he does."

She takes a bite of her half of the donut, then chases it with a drink of her coffee. "He does it with everyone he meets," she then says when she has swallowed. "He explained it to me in a way that /really/ makes him sound insane, but I swear... he's only partly insane, but in this world... you have to be. Basically, he said that this ability was like reading a comic that was written by someone or watching a movie, and the information is just there, hanging around in his head until something triggers it. I think there's some precognition involved, or post-cognition, but still... he's not insane."

The last question, now that... that was something she rarely talked about. "One of the richest men in the world and the reason Witchblade was in a position to choose me. Irons I mean." Her tone has a definite quality of disgust to it as she speaks about Iron, as if she is keeping anger just out reach regarding the man.

Johnny Blaze has posed:
"....a comic book?" Johnny looks at Sara for a moment, a frown touching his face. "Really, Pezzini?" there's so much in those two words. One, it most certainly does make Wade sound like an insane man. "Dunno about that. Know how many people in the world who cause more harm than good because they were genuinely insane?" Johnny's met a good many of them. But read people like a comic book?

That's a little crazy, even for Johnny.

But it tells him a lot about Sara too, atl east in what she's willing to either tolerate or appreciate. "Partly insane is still insane." Johnny tells Sara. "Anyway, lets focus on this Irons guy. He's the reason Witchblade was attached to you? Let me guess, rich guy who happened to have the cool-looking gauntlet?"

Sara Pezzini has posed:
His reaction makes Sara laugh, because he's not the first not will he be the last who thinks Wade is insane. She knew she couldn't explain it well, no matter what words she choose it would always come out making Wade seem insane... and then the conversation goes back to Irons.

"It's more than that," she says after a long pause to debate how to approach it. "Basically, Irons has coveted the Witchblade for a long, long, /long/ time. I can't tell you how long, I just know it's been longer than one life time. He tried to wear him once, and was deeply scarred for it." Physically and mentally. "So his hope was to control new wielder, which turned out to be me."

Closing her eyes a moment, she can feel herself in that moment again, when the Witchblade chose to save her life even as her partner was dying on the floor beside her. Irons had been blown away that it was she whom Witchblade choose, and had immediately moved in on her in an attempt to gain control of her and this The Witchblade... but her mind remained locked in that singular moment. Nearly dead, Witchblade choose her and saved her life.

"Let's just say Irons wasn't man enough to control me," she states as she opens her eyes again. "Let alone Witchblade. His are the one persons memories that Witchblade never shows me, but I know the eminent joy that Witchblade felt when he punished Irons for trying."
