It's a Zoo Out Here
Date of Scene: 05 January 2022
Location: Coventry - Miagani Island
Synopsis: Batwoman, Red Robin, Austin Reese, and newcomer Night Dragon find themselves near the zoo when the local sewer rats start behaving very, very strangely. In the end, a couple of punks in a suped up van end up in custody and there's a bat ton of data to analyze later.
Cast of Characters: Boonsri Chietsonkrit, Kate Kane, Tim Drake, Austin Reese

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
The Gotham Zoo, located in Coventry

11:30 PM

It's well after hours, and a nice layer of snow has settled over most. The lights give fair illumination over the sidewalks, and a few even offer glimpses of the cages for those foolhardy enough to scale the walls keeping out the riffraff. It's a quiet January night.

Save for a strange chittering in the dark...

Shadows flit along the gutters of the sidewalks. Shapes emerge from the storm drains, gliding along towards and through the base of the gates...

One lone pedestrian is oblivious to this at the moment. A short figure in a trench and fedora. All black beneath, strolling along and minding their own. This figure has been relatively common recent nights, though not much of a talker...

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate has spent quite a bit in strange places, lately, following a small investigation of her own. This includes touching base with a right bastard of a werewolf who is known to haunt the Gotham Zoo. She moves silently through the shadows, a scowl on her face beneath her cowl -- mostly due to the puzzle occupying her thoughts than a bad mood.

She crouches on a rooftop, not so far away from entrance to the Zoo, watching the stranger walking down the street. That's definitely not the wolf she's hunting tonight. Which means he's actually in the Zoo itself. Which means she's going to have to do little more recon. This isn't a surprise. It's just a small disappointment.

Tim Drake has posed:
Tonight feels like a night to be out on patrol. The sudden influx of people--refugees--into Gotham has the city's population swelled by a considerable number, and even if the situation is much more dire than, say, a big convention or event, it's likely to have the same sort of impact: more crime.

Desperation breeds discontent, and what's more desperate than another apocalypse-level event literally looming above them? There are a lot of places Tim would rather be right now if the world's about to end, but as they say... duty calls.

His boots impact the roof near where Batwoman crouches, barely more than a whisper of sound to announce Red Robin's arrival. For the time being he doesn't approach; Tim just hangs back, assessing the streets of Coventry below for movement. If he's spotted the figure Kate is monitoring, he doesn't comment on it. Instead, he says, "Perfect weather for a good brood, don't you think?"

Well. Once a Robin, always a Robin.

Austin Reese has posed:
With the ongoing evacuations, Austin has been volunteering to help out wherever he can. There was nobody there for him after the No Man's Land tsunami, so he wanted to make sure that he would be there for the folks getting displaced by what was going on in New York. Even if he couldn't fight it off, he'd at least help.

But he needs a break, and maybe visiting one of his favorite spots is a good way to let off some steam. Gotham Zoo is packed during the day, but at night you can see a lot of the animals that tend to be nocturnal, which Austin has always found more ineresting. So he was moving around near one of the exhibits..And ducking the security guards when he needed to.

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
The after hours pedestrian catches wind of something inside the zoo going on. A ruckus of sorts that soon escalates to a fullscale din!

Monkeys scream as a panther cries, a gorilla roars and beats his cage! Something bad is going down...

The stranger takes a running start and seems to go straight up the wall in squirrellike fashion, mounting the top in no time before leaping over and quickly spotting the problem...

There is a swarm...of rats.

The infestation is racing along the sidewalk towards the interior of the zoo, but some have detoured to attack some of the caged wildlife.

Meanwhile, a van pulls up across from the main entrance where it loiters. Presumably for the heat from the engine running while it lingers.

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate glances back over her shoulder a the sound of boots soft on the snow-dusted roof. A brief snirk pulls her lips wryly. "I'm sure it's genetic," she says dryly. Kane. Wayne. Not so different. "But yes, actually. Brooding works best in silence. Snow makes things quiet."

Her eyes rise toward the zoo at the sound of the ruckus. She watches the be-trenched, and hatted pedestrian clear the zoo fence and then notes the van pulling up. "Odds on the van being involved in the animal uprising?" Her tone is still dry. Experienced. Vans like that don't loiter anywhere significant without purpose.

It's the screaming animals, though, that suggests where the action lays. "I'm sure we'll get a chance to tangle with it later." Which means into the Zoo it is. She takes a running start and snaps her cape sharply open as she leaps. It stiffens into its glider configuration and she soars silently over the fence and maneuvers herself into the shadow of one of the concession buildings.

Tim Drake has posed:
"Probably. The only Robin that's ever managed to pull it off is the short one." Tim walks along the edge of the rooftop, the weight of his focus brought to bear on the zoo once Batwoman's own attention has shifted. Even still, he adds, "I've been told I do a mean 'I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed' though."

He clicks his tongue rather than directly reply, as they're both clearly in agreement: that van is sus. So he studies it for the space of another heartbeat before Kate is off at a run, and then Red Robin is unhooking the grapple gun from its spot on his belt, just over his hip.

When he breaches the zoo's perimeter it's further afield, all the better to flank whoever (or whatever) Batwoman encounters. He comes in at a low angle aided by the line he's attached to, just barely clearing the fence before he alights on the rooftop of a food stall.

It probably sells funnel cakes. Who knows. Anyway. "<<Either the zoo has a major infestation or...>>" Behind the lenses of his mask, Red Robin's eyes track the swarm of rats that pass by on the ground below.

Austin Reese has posed:
Already inside the zoo proper, Austin can hear the animals starting to freak out. Austin tries to turn his attention to where the sounds first originated from. That's when he spots the first of the rats. Why rats are coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden, he wasn't sure. He jumped up onto the railing in order to avoid getting his legs bitten.

"Fuck." How is he going to get out of this one, he wonders. He has to balance on the edge of the railing, one side being certain death in a pit of tigers and the other side is near certain death in a pile of rats. Neither option is very preferable at the moment.

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
From beneath the trench comes a rope with an egg shaped weight that likely weighs a few pounds. Twirling it ably, the trenched and hatted stranger sprints at a dead heat to one of the cages where excitement abounds!

Why rats would dare take on an actual tasmanian devil...

No matter, that weight spears forth with sinister accuracy, slamming a pair of dog sized rats across the cage and evening the odds for the poor beast! The thing wastes no time defending its territory...

Yanking that weight back with a practiced hand, the rope is twirled as they step back from a hissing group of rodent terrors...and hiss right back from behind a black halfmask of snarling teeth!

The main body of rats are like an exodus from the sewers marching on a research building within the zoo, a whole pack of them scratching and chewing at the front entrance while the subsequent numbers file round seeking other means...

Kate Kane has posed:
Rats? Really? "Aw, hell." On the bright side? It's not a repeat of the Great Penguin Mob Riot of '19. That included way more rotten fish than she ever wanted to see.

"Right. Who do we know controls rats like the frickin' pied piper?" She can think of a couple of candidates, herself. She considers their options, using a grapler to swing herself up above the swarm that splits off her way. "We need rodent crowd control. Robin, do you think we can uses the PA system here to rig a sonic deterrent? See if we can herd them someplace safer. The new ampitheatre basin, maybe?"

Even as she says it, she's starting to load up phosphor rounds that may be more of a deterent than most of her other gadgets. Though maybe she can spread out a taser net that will help.

Tim Drake has posed:
Red Robin remains on his perch a moment longer, assessing. "<<That there's more than one Gotham-based answer to that really makes me question why I didn't go to school in California,>>" he answers as he takes a running leap from the food stall's roof, up onto the wall of the elephant enclosure. The whole myth about elephants being afraid of vermin isn't actually a complete myth, as it so happens. It's just that elephants are easily startled, especially by things that move fast... like rats do. Though the enclosure is big enough that Tim hopes the poor pachyderms will be left alone.

"<<I'll see what I can do.>>" He's on the move across the complex, little more than a shadow against the night sky. It isn't until he's gotten a bit of distance (vertical, that is) that he gets a decent sense of where the rats are trying to go. "<<Looks like they're trying to get into one of these buildings... hold on.>>" A momentary perch on a statue of some long-extinct creature gives Red Robin the chance to pull up a map of the zoo. "<<The research building?>>"

    That bodes well.

Austin Reese has posed:
It's definitely a surprise to Austin when Red Robin drops down not far from him, still balancing on the railing between rats and tigers. The snow on the railing isn't making it easy. He decides to push off, leaping over the rats and landing on a trashcan, "I need something to.." He grabs a sign nearby and breaks off a piece to use as a makeshift weapon.

"Hey!" He calls out to Red Robin, as he looks at where the rats seem to be headed, "I've lived around enough rats to know that's not normal behavior, so what do you need me to do?"

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
The rats are an almost elemental presence with their sheer numbers. They don't engulf the building or cages and they are certainly finite...

But they are also /numerous/

The gorilla enclosure is having a similar issue to the previous devil, but the masked stranger has no desire to tangle with that. Rather the person is scaling a lamp post to get away from the rats surrounding, their ability at climbing not unlike that of the nearby chimpanzee exhibit! Speaking of, they're having a field day snatching up rodents and slinging them violently out the bars!

At the research lab, the rats find an entrance. Through the basement, where one has burrowed through the wall allowing followers to file in behind...

The van outside meanwhile continues to linger.

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate notices the stranger -- their strange weapon and nible movement. Trained, obviously. "<<Deploying tasers,>>" she tells Robin as she begins tossing disks with the usual bat logo (in red, thank you very much) along the perimeter. As the electricity crackles, the rats are turned back. But perhaps not enough of them. They can and will climb over each other without a second thought. "<<The research building?>>"

That narrows down the likelihood of who might be behind all this. "<<Do we know what research is being done in there?>>" Something that might be applicable. Usually, she expects to see the rats trying to break *out* of a research lab. Not back in. 'Secret of Nimh' notwithstanding.

She keeps part of her attention on the stranger, however. And part directed toward that van back near the exit. She checks a monitor in her cowl's HUD occasionally, waiting for movement, even as she drops more ratbuster tasers.

Tim Drake has posed:
Tim could call Bart. He works at the zoo and might know. Or... Tim could snoop. Look, he's staring at the research building and there's a vent right *there*. How can he possibly resist the urge?

An innocent (debatable, given that Austin's in the zoo after hours when he absolutely shouldn't be) civilian in danger does the trick, at least temporarily. "<<No idea, but I'm about to find out,>>" he reports to Batwoman just before he swings on a line over to Austin. As he drops to the ground, he deploys several of his own taser grenades in a circle around them. It gives him enough time to look Austin up and down and say, "You look kind of familiar," even though Red Robin definitely recognizes him. That's everything he has to say, apparently--giving no answer to Austin's question--because he fires off a grapple line that begins to lift him into the air once more.

Though this time around he tries to grab hold of Austin and drag him up with, to deposit him on a nearby rooftop before Tim goes diving into the vent. An echoey "Try not to get eaten!" is all he calls out before disappearing.

Austin Reese has posed:
Of course Austin looks familiar. Red Robin gave him the comm link on Halloween. Also it was kind of a birthday present, but Tim probably doesn't know that.

Soon Austin finds himself up into the air, landing on the roof with Red Robin, who quickly slips into a vent, "Don't get eaten, okay. That seems easy enough now that he's up on the roof.

He does take a few moments to look at the vent, and considers...He waits a few minutes, pacing back and forth a few times before he decides to follow into the vent.

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
The masked and trenched individual lingers atop the lamp post for some moments, watching the rodents mill about. They're causing quite a mess, dragging out and feasting on the trash from the day and going after anything that gets in reach.

At the lab, the things continue to file in. The hole will grow as they cram their way through and actively work to broaden it! There is deliberate effort at play there...

Atop the lamp post, the person notices the Bats at last! They wave over at Batwoman as they go by...

Kate Kane has posed:
Robin's in the building now. Perhaps he'll get a bead on what the rodents are after. Kate watches the stranger wave. She arches a brow behind the mask of her cowl and issues a subvocalized command to her rig to grab the stranger's image and start passing it through visual enhancement and see if she can get enough for a facial rec scan. If that fails... well, she'll pass the images along to Oracle.

On the bright side, the stranger doesn't seem to be the one controlling the rats. Does't mean Kate won't check up on them later. Just as soon as she can get a lead on them.

Which might be as simple as... "Keep an eye on that van at the entrance," she calls out to the stranger -- and perhaps to Austin, too. She doesn't expect the former to have coms, nor the latter, for that matter. "Could be the command center for this little party."

Which means maybe she should be checking it out, too...

Tim Drake has posed:
Vents are always a tight fit, and yet somehow Red Robin, who is an actual real fully grown adult man now, manages to make his way through and drop down to the floor inside. That Batman, who has several inches and a fair few pounds on him also manages the same... look. Don't question it. It's one of the special Bat things they're known for.

By the time Austin makes his way in, Tim has already apparently swept the place. Efficiency! It really only took those few minutes that Austin hestitated because Tim happened upon the very obvious answer first, so the rest of his search was less in-depth.

For the sake of avoiding a very awkward meeting in the middle of a vent shaft somewhere, Red Robin waits until Austin has squeezed himself through the opening and landed on solid ground to hold up a small thumb drive.

Yes, it's encoded. Yes, it has a Bat symbol on it. "You need to get this to Batwoman," he tells Austin, voice dropped, very serious. He holds it out, then withdraws back into the shadows after. "I have to go check on the cheetahs."

And with that, Red Robin is gone. Oh, of course he made a copy of the data. Austin doesn't need to know that. Another thing the Bats are known for? Secrets and deception.

Really, though, he's going to check on the cheetahs. He feels responsible for them, after saving several when they were cubs. And on the way, over the comms he reports, "<<They're sequencing the DNA of the Madripoorian Spider Monkey. The species went extinct after it was over-hunted for its hypothalmic fluid, which is one of the key ingredients for Zootoxic Acid Psychogalvanide, street name Zap.>>"

Austin Reese has posed:
Austin has to fight with the vent for a few minutes because he's never really had to navigate them like this. By the time he arrives it seems Red Robin has already gotten the hard part taken care of and gotten the intel. He takes the thumb drive and nods, "You got it." Batman, she must be nearby then. He had barely heard her mention the van as he headed inside. So once he makes his way back out of the vent he goes looking for the van, and more importantly for Batwoman, to get her that info

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
The masked and trenched figure atop the lamp post heeds Batwoman's instruction with a two fingered wave. Crouching there for a moment, the figure whirls the weighted end of their weapon of choice before launching it at another lamp post just up the sidewalk towards the entrance where it winds round like an improvised grapnel!

Testing the bite, they wrap the rope round a wrist then swing forth, feet first to narrowly avoid the rats on parade before coming to light on a park bench some way up the sidewalk!

Scampering for life and limb, a tree is scaled but not before beating one of the rodents off of their trench!

Austin will have plenty of motivation not to stick around, as the filthy invaders can be heard inside the facility. Chittering and scraping along...

They also carry a distinct odor that's much more noticeable indoors...the filth of the sewers...

The van isn't going anywhere, which may or may not be odd. What could be odd however, are rodents filing out through a fresh hole with various odds and ends from the facility...

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate watches Tim disappear. She also notices the fact the rodents are definite keptos. "Oh, yippee," she mutters. "They're *trained* rats." Colour her surprised. (Not.)

She runs along the edge of the building she's swung up upon. Her zipline spins out and she slides over the mass of furry bodies, dropping taser charges as she goes. They scatter, throughout the mass and then discharge. Whole swathes of the swarm turn into twitching carpets their fellows are forced to climb across to continue their progress.

Kate's boots touch ground beyond the rats. She runs swiftly, cape snapping out behind her. She springs from a bench to a light post, to the top of the fence that surrounds the Zoo. Touching a pressure point on her gauntlet, her HUD scans the van. She raises an air gun and fires a tracker onto its roof before flipping down to approach the vehicle directly.

Another electro-batarang weaves through her fingers, prepared in case she needs to short out the vehicle's engine... just in case the driver decides to flee.

Austin Reese has posed:
Carefully making his way across the rooftops, Austin manages to get himself back towards the front. That's where the van is, so that's where Batwoman will be.

He's still not great at the stealth thing, but he manages to find himself on the edge of a roof, trying to get her attention. He holds up the thumb drive that Red Robin gave him in order to see if she'll spot it. Then maybe he can toss it to her.

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
The Gotham City Zoo is seldom this lively around midnight, certainly not when it's this cold. It's not so cold as to freeze buckets of bleach toted by random crimson capped viking wannabes searching for unknown actors to accost, but it's pretty chilly! There's layers of snow over all unattended surfaces which is hardly unusual for this time of year.

What is very unusual even for Gotham, especially Coventry, is that the Zoo has been invaded by rats. An elemental swarm of filthy sewer vermin have descended upon the place, and while some have indeed diverted to try their luck at attacking the wild animals contained therein, the bulk of the horde have laid siege to a research building located therein.

Among the unlucky few that this disaster has grabbed the attention of is one relative newcomer to this city clad in a trench and fedora, a pint sized figure whose features are obscured behind an asian style half mask of snarling teeth grinning through black lips. This personage is wielding a long rope terminating at one end with an egg shaped weight that they sling with lethal precision, such as presently downward at rats trying to climb up the tree they currently lurk in!

Across the street is a suspicious van that this person has a good view of, and from within the zoo are filing a counter procession of the rodent horde, some of which are toting minor articles from the facility they just raided...

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate circles the van and pulls a telescoping truncheon from the small of her back. Without heistation, she smacks the weapon on the glass, shattering it. The driver, cig dangling from his lips, startles. The smoke from his indulgeance pours out the window. Kate sticks her arm in and pops the lock, pulling the door open and grabbing him roughly. He ends up on the ground, her boot on the back of his neck. "Hey, boys," she says, looking into the van. "Whatcha doin'?"

Needless to say, what happens next is a bit of a mad scramble as the pair in the back, operating their toys, realize one of Gotham's protectors has found them.

"Shitshitshit..." one swears. "Hurry! We gotta get outta here!" They scramble for the back doors of the van.

Austin Reese has posed:
The guys from the van are starting to run? Well Austin knows they can't let that happen.

He jumps down off the ring, grabbing the stick that he'd picked up earlier and throwing it at the back of the knees of one of the guys who was running away. He still holds onto the thumb drive in his other hand, as he starts to give chase as well.

He slips the thumb drive into his pocket for now, in order to keep it safe. He also pulls his hood up again since now there's actually people

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
Lunging forth from the tree, the Night Dragon palms that fedora protectively as they sail through the air with maybe not as much ease as a certain noteworthy other, but they do clear the swarm at the base of the tree! Landing with a practiced roll, they come up in a sprint for the wall, clearing it with the squirrel like agility demonstrated previously before slipping a silvery sliver of metal from within a sleeve that lances with a flick of the wrist at the backside of the other runner!

A bit nastier than a stick to the leg, but he'll live.

The back of the van is a terminal hooked to an acoustic system of some sort projected at one of the windows. More clever than obvious speakers atop the van, admittedly. The klepto rats are marching through the gates presently with their haul.

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate lets the two outside deal with the runners. She slides into the van, and into the seat where the terminal is hooked. It takes a moment or two for her to figure out what's going on. Oracle, she is not. But she's not stupid, either. She does, after all, have to maintain her own systems.

"Huhn." It's quite the setup they have here. She slides a data disk into a port to do a copy of the laptop. Once the copy is complete, she looks at the program... and shuts it down. The sonic encouragement of the rodents ceases, the quite night even quieter now that the subtle hum from the speakers and the engine dies.

She rises and exits the van through the back to see how the others are faring and just what's going on with the rats.

Austin Reese has posed:
Austin hops over once he's taken down the guy with the stick and drops down onto his back, putting a knee on the middle of his back, "Don't move!" He yells out, trying to pin the guy's other arm with his other knee, "Hey you got any cuffs?" He asks as he turns his head to look back at Batwoman

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
The man with the sharp blade in his buttocks is stumbling along with a wince, and the Night Dragon drops from the wall whirling that menacing steel weight. It's a girl's voice through that mask,"If you run, I can't guarantee I won't break your knee trying to stop you."

That gets him to stop, raising his hands in surrender as he protests,"Didja have to stab my ass?!"

The Night Dragon replies,"You have a right to a lawyer, so sue me."

He gapes, then moans as she walks up, yanking that sliver out to wipe on his shirt before slipping it into a sheath on a bracer within her sleeve.

The tech setup really is that simple. Clearly the owner didn't gamble on being caught so easily, or so it seems.

Unfortunately, now the rats are scattering wildly! Most are turning on each other, but some are fleeing randomly!

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate reaches into her belt and comes up with... zipties. Yep. Who needs batcuffs when zipties are so much easier (and cheaper) to use? She passes them over to Austin and even to Night Dragon -- should the woman decide she wants them. Then, the batgarbed heroine purses her red lips and turns back to the van. "Gonna do something about the vermin infestation. Pretty sure the rest of the animals are going to object, too. So... it's gonna get loud." Sorry. Not sorry.

She turns on the terminal again and adjusts the sonic frequency. What results is that sonic attack she was talking about earlier.

The animals in the zoo start up a ruckus, to be sure. Hoots and howls, grunts and growls abound. But the rats scatter, leaving behind their prizes... and, in some cases, their corpses. She puts a quiet call into Gotham Animal Control. They're gonna have fun here.

Guess she's going to have to make a sizable donation to the local humane societies.

"So," she says returning to the others once the sonic show is over, "who do we have here?"

Austin Reese has posed:
Austin takes the offered zipties, and then zips up the goon's arms, "Stay put." He says, as he stands up from the guy, and looks over as Batwoman mentions using something loud. He puts his hands over his ears in order to keep his eardrums from getting burst.

Once it's over, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out the thumb drive, "Red Robin wanted me to make sure this got to you."

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
The Night Dragon cups her hands to her ears, briefly convulsing at the pitch assaulting her senses! Fortunately, so too does her perp thus giving her the opportunity to retrieve the zips to properly detain the man.

The small fry will be wincing at the ringing in her ears for a hot minute after this, but...

The swarm has indeed disippated.

Kate Kane has posed:
Yeah. There's a reason most of the Bats wear cowls. Ear and eye protection. Safety first, kids!

Kate looks at the drive Austin hands her. "Thanks," she says. She slides it into a pouch on her belt; she'll touch base with him about it later. "I don't think we've met." She looks between both Austin and the asian stranger as she says it.

Then, however, she's also glancing at the objects the rats have left behind. Her brows dip and she moves to examine a couple, trying to fathom just what use the various components would be. Scavengers and scrappers, maybe... but there are easier ways to do either of those tasks.

"Huhn."

Austin Reese has posed:
Austin has no idea what's on the drive, but it's important enough. With his mission from Red Robin done, he hms, "Ah yeah. Uh. Name's Austin." He says, "Been uh, helping out.." Mostly finding himself in situations that he's probably in over his head.

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
The short girl steps over to where Batwoman is inspecting the rodents' leavings, calling out as she approaches,"What?!"

Someone's ears are definitely blitzed...

She kneels down and inspects one of the objects, a flashdrive not so dissimilar from theirs. Another is a vial of some sort of fluid. And again some small piece of lab hardware. Not the most efficient theft, rather like assassinating a mayor by derailing the passenger car they're on that happens to have a dozen other upper crust types at the same time.

She then says in an Asiatic accent frought with the effort not to yell,"I call myself the Night Dragon. I live here now...in Coventry."

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate sets about gathering up some of the objects. "Well, Austin, Night Dragon... looks like what we've got here is a theft of ingredients that will probably be quite useful to Zap makers. And possibly others interested in the mutagenic effects of certain compounds on..." She snirks. "Rodents. Naturally."

Again, her mind catalogues who could have done this. She picks up the drives and the vials, finding small baggies for the latter. Yes, utility belts are awesome. You should consider getting one, if you don't have one.

She glance to Night Dragon. "So, this is your turf?"

Austin Reese has posed:
"Zap?" Austin asks. He'd heard about it but never encountered it first hand, "Man I miss the days of just dealing with meth labs.." He mutters a little bit to himself. He really should get a utility belt too since 'hoodie pockets' aren't that great for storing stuff.

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
The Night Dragon has two belts beneath that trench. Or should they be countaed as such? One is her all purpose and oh so retro...FANNY PACK!

The other is an army issue style utility belt but only appears to have a holster for a pair of batons of some sort and a hook on the opposite side where she neatly stores her rope once it's wound up.

Trench pockets are almost as good as hoodie pockets too, yo.

She shrugs at the name then, replying honestly,"I live in this town now, yes."

Kate Kane has posed:
"You had days of just dealing with meth labs?" Kate says to Austin. "Wow. You're lucky." Yeah. She never got that. She's dealt with terrorists and psychopaths since she was... hm... nine? Yeah.

That's how Bats are made.

She finishes picking up what evidence she can and rises. "We should talk," she tells Night Dragon. "But later. Right now... I need to get this stuff somewhere safe and we need to get the cops to pick up this trash."

The latter she can take care of easy enough. She has friends in the force. But the former... Well, yes. She knows where to take that, too. She looks between the pair. "We'll be in touch." Because the bats do that.

Even if she isn't actually part of Batman's brood. She still learned the tricks.

And as if to prove it, she disappears off into the night -- on a zipline. Because...

Batwoman.

Boonsri Chietsonkrit has posed:
The masked and trenched figure that is the Night Dragon gazes up after the woman swinging into the actual night, scritching the back of her neck where the collar rubs on occasion. She turns to Austin then, and as if mirroring Kate,"I'll be in touch."

Then away on the sidewalk doth she stray.
