Cast of Characters: Peter Parker, Singularity

Peter Parker has posed:
The park is normally a quiet place, but the events of the last week have turned it into a refugee way-station for people to find shelter. Official shelters beyond Manhattan Island are filled to bursting, and parks have become secondary rest stops on the way out of the city. Many people are settling under the protective canopy of the Queens Giant, but tents with space heaters built-in (who knew that was a thing?) dotted the grass under the trees.

Spider-Man was on the roof of the Environmental Center, watching over the people who have sought refuge here. A couple of miles from home. A world away.

He looked out at the sky above Manhattan, wondering what was going to happen...

Singularity has posed:
Singularity had been doing lots of exploring lately. Trying to find somewhere to be of assistance. But having gotten the impression that it was best to not bother any of her existing friends that she had encountered here. They had their own troubles. Or they did not know her.
So on this day, she had teleported in and was helping to bring in supplies. It was a simple thing for her to do, it made her feel useful.
It was helping people! Not all things needed to be grand. She was helping them be safe. There would be a blue -ping- as the star girl would arrive with some crates, depositing them and then rapidly realizing she had put them down in the wrong place.
Then another blue pling as she would teleport them to the right one. Offering a cheerful, "Hello!" to anyone around her. However a blue blinking girl might startle at least a few.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man looked down and saw...

Hey, she's familiar. She had popped up once before. But there had been another time, farther back in the past.
Back then, he had gotten her name. Singularity, the helpful, playful, girl-shaped UNIVERSE. Macrocosm-turned-humanoid-microcosm.

She seemed to be helping out, but she was...having trouble with directions, and people's nerves were frayed as it is.

Time to send in the Clown.
Spider-Man swung over to where he thought Singularity might show up in the general area and waited...

Singularity has posed:
Getting the sensation that she was frustrating people who had enough going on as it was with stress, Singularity would apologize to them, and then rapidly teleport away. Having learned that trying to talk in such situations where people were upset did not make them feel better..
She would teleport up high to some trees around the advneture course, where she could have a good view of the area and look out to the distance, appreciating the view. Her star-lit body would flicker, turning various shades of lighter blue as her eyes would fade a bit and turn to a prismatic tone.

Peter Parker has posed:
She went...okay, there she is. She hasn't moved yet, so maybe she's going to be still for a little bit.
Spidey opted to walk over instead of websling. He didn't know what might happen if he startled her, but he didn't want to risk getting..heck, she might throw a galaxy at him or something.

When he got close, he waves, shivering just slightly. It WAS January in New England, after all.

"Hey...Singularity, is that you?" Yeah, stupid, but what COULD he say?

Singularity has posed:
Singularity would go to glance over at Peter, "Hello Spider-Man!" She woudl be immediately cheerful. Then seeing that he was cold by the shivers in his body.. There would be a quick flicker of her as she would teleport away, then teleport back to him with a large blanket to offer over.

"Are you all right? And yes, I am Singularity!" She would be happy to see him again, at least by the rapid shifting of the stars appearing on her body and them spinning faster and faster.

Peter Parker has posed:
Boom, blanket. He was thankful, but was hoping Singularity didn't take it from...no. She wouldn't have done that. In many ways, she was a bonafide innocent, and she would no more take a blanket from a person using it to ward off the cold than she would...well, evaporate the oceans.
"I'll be fine. I wanted to come by, see how people are doing." He looked around. The sky was clear but it was a few degrees below freezing. "I live not too far from here. How are you doing?"

Singularity has posed:
Singularity would offer the blanket over for Spider-Man to take and wrap around him if he accepted it. "Ah. It is a very lovely park. Do you come here often?" Cheerful questions given to him. "I hope that those here ar safe and hopefully can apprecaite it if it brings them calmness until they can be put somewhere more permanent and comfortable." She would look down at them with sadness. "They do not deserve this. I.. Do not get why the Angels attack here. For no reason. And they want to destroy everything."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man wrapped the blanket around himself. After a moment, he sat down on the hard ground, extending a section of the blanket for Singularity to join him.

He is silent for a few seconds, then says, "I don't know either. Sing." He takes a deep breath. "I don't think I've ever mentioned this...but I have certain beliefs about this. You see, my family has been going to the same church two blocks from home, and I have been going there since my parents...well, since my parents gave me to my aunt and uncle when I was four."

Singularity has posed:
Singularity would nod at Spider-Man, "I understand. They are evil. THey are attacking simply to destroy everything with no regards for those there. They seek to bring about the end for no reason. They are evil." She would say with the simplicity of a child, perhaps. But with surety.

"I understand. They.. Do not stand for what they are supposed to. They are protectors. Defenders. They inspire people. Not destroy and hurt them."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey nods. "Yeah. I studied angels as part of my upbringing. I was interested in the hierarchy." He looks out to Manhattan, then says, "From what I have read, I choose to believe that this will not, in fact, be the end. Certain things that are supposed to happen have not yet happened. I could talk for hours about the subject...but in the end, it's what I believe. Call it faith, or insight, or what have you. But right now, this is not what is supposed to happen. Which means there is a solution. We simply have to find it."

Singularity has posed:
Singularity would look over at Spider-Man and nod. "I do not know those things. I will help if I can. I do not want anyone to be hurt. I.. I hope that they are not like the things that attacked the SHIELD. They came in endless waves to destroy. Each time getting stronger and stronger. Those here care. They care about protecting.."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey nods. "There are many smart people out there. Very powerful people. I don't know what my role might be in this. Maybe it will simply be to help others, even in small ways, but that is still nobler than doing nothing. And if, against what you or I believe, something does happen to us...the soul lives on. The question is, will we be able to look back on these days and say, 'I did everything I could?'"

Singularity has posed:
Singularity would nod, "All we can do is protect people and ensure they are not hurt. Bring them food and things to survive, take them to safety. If there is danger take them away from it. Help ensure that they are healthy." She knows even the litlte things can help them. "We can do all that we can. And never stop doing it."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey nods and smiles. "That's the way to go." He looked over to the people still opening crates. "What say you and I work together to help over there?"

Singularity has posed:
Singularity would smile, "I would like to very much. Thank you Spider-Man. Can I be your friend?" Space blue girl asking to be his friend. Then moving to tentatively give him a hug if he would let her.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man's Spider-Sense doesn't tingle, and he looks to her as she embraces him.
He chuckles. "Only if you let me be your friend, Sing." He lightly rests his hands at her upper back. She'd seem almost fragile if she wasn't a walking, talking universe. "And friends never lie to each other. But if you can't tell me something, telling me you can't tell me isn't a lie. Telling me you can't tell me YET isn't a lie either. Neither is 'I want to tell you, but I promised someone else I wouldn't tell anyone.' And that goes for me, too."

Singularity has posed:
Singularity would nod, "I understand. I will not lie to you. I do not like to lie. I understand that others may feel like they have to do so. And I understand if you do not wish to tell me things. Many things are private, friend." She would give him a hug. "And it is an honor to be your friend." Body twinkling and chiming.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man chuckles. "You can call me Spidey. Or Webhead. There are other names, but I really don't think you should use those."
His hug tightens for a moment, then loosens as he steps back. "Okay. I think we should hand out stuff, but you should probably just walk them over, instead of just teleporting. People are nervous and scared, and startling them isn't good for them. It's more comfortable for them if they see you walking over, rather than just appearing."

Singularity has posed:
Singularity would nod, "Thank you for the advise, Spidey." She would accept what he had said, "If I make them uncomfortable again I will leave, but walk away so that I do not startle them if I do so." She would accept his thoughts in the matter and take it to mind.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey nods. "And if they see you walking towards them with something they need, they will be much more at ease. Sometimes, it is not getting there that is most helpful, but them seeing what they are about to receive is."

Singularity has posed:
Singularity would smile, "Thank you very much! I want to make sure I don't make them upset or afraid. Thank you so much for telling me how I can help them better." Another hug is given!

Peter Parker has posed:
He can't help it. Seeing her smile is guaranteed to help him realize things aren't as bad as they could be.

"C'mon, Sing. Let's go help some people." He slips out of the hug, then half-folds the blanket. "I think someone else can use this more. You and I will warm up with the work to do."

Singularity has posed:
Singularity would nod, "Yes they could. But it was not from the supplies and you were cold. Now someone can use it that you are warmed." She would go to offer her hand to him and then go to walk over towards the people that were taking supplies, friend in tow!
