Cast of Characters: Piotr Rasputin, Hyperion

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
For many days this region has served as a refugee camp that has grown into a small town. So many mutants from all over the world have recently arrived, but mostly from Mutant Town, New York City. Those particular mutants have been fleeing the angel invasion, doing their best to avoid the collateral damage. But also here, they can start a new life where they are welcome and not oppressed.

Toward the far end of town is a work area where large cargo containers are being used to store supplies. Within that cluster are other mutants who use their powers to organize, shift, stack, and overall keep things in an orderly and useful/functional fashion. One such mutant is a very large metal man known as Colossus. He carries one of the 53' metal shipping containers to place it gently alongside another, where their doors can be accessed side by side. A woman with feathers, holding an electronic pad/clipboard intones in a squeaky voice, "That is perfect, Colossus. Thank you. Now, if you don't mind, the next one needs to be alongside the green one."

The metal man, Colossus, turns and nods to the woman. His voice intones in a heavy Russian accent, "My pleasure, Avia." and he begins to walk toward another randomly placed shipping container some yards away.

Hyperion has posed:
It's been a bit of a day. The problem with transporting refugees is that the speeds Hyperion is capable of would kill most of those refugees. It's difficult to really -contain- a transport device. Sure, a bus, truck, plane, barge... can -carry- folks. But the friction and force of the atmosphere when one is going hypersonic speeds is... excessive.

So it is a good thing that Hyperion can go for days before needing to replenish his energy reserves. The delipidated oceangoing freighter that started to sink with a bunch of refugees on board, was fortunately able to stand up to a couple hundred miles per hour. Even so, the trip to Genosha took almost an entire day. Two hundred and thirty seven refugees were attempting to take their chances on board the good ship Oregon when it started to take on water.

And now, many hours later... the ship is floating through the air as Hyperion carries it into the harbor airspace. He managed to contact the Avengers on his comm device, and asked them to call ahead to Genosha so that the refugees would not be assumed to be hostiles... and as he approaches the water... he's already done his best to seal the hole in the hull with a patch and welding job. It should hold long enough to get everyone off. But he slowly settles the ship in to a wharf/dock facility before coming up out of the water. His black and gold outfit does stand out in the sun as he lands at the foot of the ramp being extended to the ship.

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
It's impossible to miss an approaching 'flying' ship in the daylight sun of the tropical island. Even if someone had their head under a rock, there were many who pointed upward toward the spectacle. One mutant was heard saying, "It's a bird!" Another called out, "No, it's a plane!" A third calls out, "No, it's the Helicarrier!" Then someone yelled "SHIELD IS INVADING!". But that was quickly silenced as another pointed out that they were to be expecting a ship filled with refugees.

Colossus is one of the ones in the open who quickly identifies the ship and he diverted his path toward the harbor after telling Avia that he would be a moment. Approaching the pier, Colossus wears his red and yellow X-Men costume. His silvery eyes observe the rise of Hyperion and he raises his right arm to call out in his accented voice, "Friend, Hyperion. Welcome!" Though, they have never met, Colossus knows who the hero is.

Hyperion has posed:
Soaking wet for the moment, Hyperion simply seeps heat energy from his skin to dry out his uniform.. mostly. That done, he turns to regard the metal man as the refugees begin filing down the ramp.

"I appreciate the hospitality." he offers in his typical American accent. Midwest if one needed to place it. But his lips break into a smile and he inclines his head. "I must admit that I have no idea how the physics of biology work so that you are solid animate steel. Interesting molecular alloy is... is there an organic element to it?" he asks. I mean sure, it's hard for him to -not- be curious, and then to take a quick gander at the atomic structure of the metal man.

His hand is held out as he approaches Piotr. "You have me at a disadvantage though. You know my name but I am woefully uninformed."

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
Surprised with the direction the conversation is taking, Colossus accepts the approach and offers his metal hand. He smiles and says, "I'm told that it's an organic osmium steel. Though, I too do not know how it works and how I live... but am happy to do so."

He is indeed solid organic steel, through and through. There are no physiological processes going on inside. Just animated metal. He adds, "I am called Colossus. Though, you are welcome to call me Piotr." His English is mostly perfect, though heavily accented and he will sometimes leave out articles or detailed descriptors. His grip is cool to the touch, as if touching room temperature metal. Strong, yet still tissue like in flexibility; not like grabbing a metal bar. He adds, "And thank you for bringing refugees."

Other mutant workers come rushing from behind Colossus toward the refugees, to ensure that they find their way to the camp/town that has been erected just for their processing and needs.

Hyperion has posed:
Inclining his head, Hyperion wonders aloud, "Huh. Truly a marvel of mutant power manifestation."

And then he looks to the others on the way to help the reugees. "Please forgive the question but...is it really best to have some sort of segregated nation?" in a more soft tone of voice.

"I mean, it would seem to me that the very idea of that sets -back- any integrated relations ideas. But.. I'm not from this universe. We did not have such things where I am from. Mostly because there were very few powered individuals in my home universe."

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
Colossus seems uplifted by the question, pleased even. Yet, his words are just as unsure as the questioner himself. Colossus answers, "Truly a great philosophical question. One that (I) cannot answer. Yet, it is certain others have asked and minds far more intelligent than my own have answered. I am here to help in transition of refugees from angelic invasion. Normally I serve with X-Men, protecting all of humanity from those that would oppress and spread harm."

He then glances to the passerbys, ensuring that they are well received by the mutant workers.

Hyperion has posed:
With a nod, Hyperion shrugs his shoulders, "I make no distinction for whom I am willing to aid and assist. Any who need it will receive help if I am involved. When these refugees told me they were trying to reach Genosha, I couldn't just drop them off in the Bahamas." Hyperion adds with a bit of a smile.

He turns and waves to the debarking refugees, smiling as he says a silent good-bye. Then he turns to regard Colossus and inclines his head, "Colossus huh?" he asks. "Good name. Is there anything that I can do to assist now that I am here?"

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
There is a deep chuckle from Colossus' chest as he smiles broadly. He then states, "Be careful what you offer, Hyperion. You will be put to work. If you are truly willing. Come. I will introduce you to Avia. She will have work for you."

He glances up the hillside and then points, "She is beautiful woman walking this way, purple feathers for hair." Avia carries her digital clipboard as she wears stylish, yet functional work clothing with several pockets.

Hyperion has posed:
And so begins Hyperion's few days of gruntwork. Something he actually does not mind doing. Whether it is lifting heavy items, bringing his atomic heat vision to bear on a problem, or whatever.

It is companionable work, and feels good when it helps other.
