Synopsis: Hex escapes... sort of
Cast of Characters: Valerie Killmore, Emma Frost, Paige Guthrie, Norman Osborn, Jon Kent

Valerie Killmore has posed:
New York City, it hasn't been seeing many good days with everything going on in Manhattan. Less people are likely to be around than normal, some trying to exit more permanently and others just on the verge of cracking up. So, NY needs a reminder that everything bad happening to them isn't all invasions and feathers. They need a memory of the good ol' days when criminals just blow things up. In normal, easy, straight forward ways.

That day is not today.

There are people on the Manhattan bridge, connecting the southeastern part of Manhattan with Brooklyn. What they don't realize is what is actually happening with the glittering shimmer of objects descending on their fair city's bridge. As they get closer, a series of little butterflies flutter about landing on cars, landing on parts of the bridge, doing whatever they can to spread out as far and wide across the bridge as possible.

They look, near perfect for butterflies. Each one crafted with care and detail, each being slightly different from the last, almost emulating nature. Almost. For those close enough to see them, there's little gears and hydraulics, so small as to be missed by the casual observer, and then... from high above the bridge, on top of one of those bridge towers is, a lot of blue? A crazy amount of laughter, that's nearly impossible to hear over the vehicle and city noise. This woman has 2 grenade looking devices strapped over her chest, an uzi on her back that is doctored up with tons of graffiti and symbols all over it. Her waist has a belt that has some circular device with similarly scratched runes and she's got what looks to be a cannister of some kind that is open, and it is clear from the way the butterflies taper up to that cannister they come from this woman. Not that many people are looking 'up' that high.

And then, that's when it happens. A spark of energy starts at the tapered end, ripping down through the butterflies, each spark causing the butterflies to seize up, tremble and then... explode. With them this spread out they are like a low yield Fuel Air Explosion, windows in cars shatter, doors compress in, fires erupt as they catch anything flammable on fire. Cars crash into one another, air bags go off, there's chaos EVERYWHERE on the bridge though nothing so concentrated as to cause the bridge to collapse or craters to even form. Lots of property damage, lots of injuries, but upon any immediate inspection there's no deaths.

At the top of the tower, the blue haired woman waits, pacing back and forth on the top of the tower. She's staying, not running, not trying to get away, and just looking tap tap tapping, and spinning about at the top to her own internal music. It helps that her phone is blasting some death punk heavy metal beats right about now.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost is over in a limo, crossing the bridge from one point in the city to another on some kind of business. Emma is sitting back in her seat in the rear of the limo, talking over on a phone, wearing business clothes. She appears to be quite relaxed. "Now, James, just listen to me. I know it's a money loss but we need to expand our purchases. Yes, if you have to buy them ou t and pay for thier golden parachutes.. It's a rounding issue for us on the stock price. We need to get those extra trucks to assist with.." She's about to add something else to her commentary right as the explosions hit. SHe's swearing over, shutting off her phone, "Lovely. George?" She would rapidly sepak to her driver..

"Get out of here and call the authorities. I don't care about the limo, ti's a writeoff." Emma's going to immediately start expanding her telepathy, going to sweep through as many people as she can at a time. Giving them careful orders. <<Stay calm, get out of her eas best you can. Stay in control and go through evacuation procedures.>> The authorities will be here within minutes. Emma is simply going to try and give people the -nudge- to evacuate in a controlled manner.

Paige Guthrie has posed:
Paige Guthrie is looking for what to do with her life after high school, and that involves trips to the city looking at possibly learning how to act or model. So, she's in the neighborhood, just across the bridge from Manhattan.

Hearing an explosion, she sighs, and tears out of her brand new dress, turning her body into walking metal. She then starts jogging toward the bridge to get a better look.

Norman Osborn has posed:
Somewhere on the bridge, there is a quiet cackle. Eyes watching the butterflies descend, the chaos that is about to be unleashed. A chitter of excitement. Hands rubbing together with glee. The Goblin paces back and forth inside of the truck, with a clear view of the surroundings. Just waiting to see how much fun everyone is going to have.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
As Emma's mental suggestion goes through the crowds of people nearest her, it seems to work. You could almost pinpoint the telepath at work from above, if you'd a mind to do so, as people beyond her reach are speeding into one another, crashing cars, trying to get out, screaming and trying to help nearby friends or family members. Oh, it's a mess. Whereas the people closer to her are orderly driving, if their vehicle still works, or getting out and finding those service sides of the bridge to walk along. Calm, easy going almost, some of them hurt and holding arms, or limping, helping one another to move along. Meanwhile, on the furthest ends of the bridge, things stop, cars park, people get out and try and leave, or back up. It's the 3 best forms of chaos, Traffic, Turmoil and Screamers!

Up above the blue haired woman is bringing her hand up to over her eyes, looking around. Scanning the area. She squints off toward the metal jogging person, or is that a car? It's too far away, so she waits.

Up in front of Paige she can hear some people asking, "What is that?" And there's some clattering going on, as she approaches she can see some bright pink yarn trailed across the ground, going toward where some cars are stopped. At one end is a device that looks like a steampunk version of those clattering teeth, chewing on the yarn, pulling itself towards the grouped vehicles in question. It too has graffiti'd on it a crazy bright smile, some crazy scratched in eyes, and weird iconongraphy.

Emma Frost has posed:
And Emma is moving to expand her mind. To calm those if she can over in a panic and start to press them to calmly leave. To those in vehicles she's attemptin gto try and get them to slow down and stop the panic. Her mind is pressing if it can outwards and woutwards, tryign to suppress all the chaos and panic. It's a bit more mental pressure than she might normally wish to engage in.. But this is a mass casualty event.

So Emma has no particular restrictions in place as she's trying to expand her consciousness to cover dozens, if not hundreds of people and trying to calm them over with the telepathic command to calm down, to evacuate themselves, and to fall back away from thedangerous areas in a controlled fashion, going to try and get them to maneuver as effectively as possible.

Jon Kent has posed:
Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...some kid.
Yeah, Jon isn't as impressive of a sight as the Big Blue Boy Scout. He's got the cape, and the hoodie he's wearing bears the iconic 'S' over the chest, but he's also in ripped jeans and seems a bit lost up in the air.
He scans the panic and disorder. From up so high, the blue-haired source of the mayhem is easily identifiable. Yet seemingly more concerned with saving lives than catching the baddie, he sucks in a massive amount of air into his lungs and swoops over the bridge, unleashing the chilling blast over the flames.

Paige Guthrie has posed:
Paige Guthrie isn't entirely sure what that IS. But uh, clattering teeth making their way to cars, that might have people in them, seems like a pretty bad thing. So the metal girl uses her Hulkulean toughess and just runs right at the teeth. Interposing herself between object and target. "Don't bite off more than you can chew!" she says as she grabs the yarn, and starts trying to tear it.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
The calming effect is spreading out from that limo, working its way amongst the people. Folks who were screaming and crying start to ease up, their mind gets more clear. Panic is a strange thing, people don't lose their skills or lose their ability to act, they just get so caught up in the struggle they go no where. Like trying to eat with chopsticks too quickly, you get so little from the effort put in!

So, with Emma's calming effect, orderly things are starting to take place. People who can help better, are, there's real work being done now that people are calming down. That does get noticed, calm people need a kick in the ass.

Without much care or worry, the woman who was on the tower just steps off, her hair rises above her as she falls and it catches the air, twisting in the wind generated by the fall. She stands out pretty well as she heads toward the bridge, and then ... hits the ground, and wincing a moment, looking around, and as she stands up she starts to pull up her uzi, pointing it into the air to fire off some rounds. "Why are you all just STANDING around, are you fucking idiots?!" She screams firing some more rounds to punctuate her point, "Run, right now... or I'll start mowing you down!" Leveling her uzi in the direction of people, "Come on, run, scream, wave your hands back and forth, lose a shoe as you do it, I don't fuckin' care, just run damnit!"

Fires, were still burning, until the boy wonder came swooping in and started to spread his icy blast to put out fires. People aren't scared, and now the fires are going out? This delays Hex as she stomps her foot down on the ground, grips her hands into fists, and seems to tremble with anger. "YYyyyrrrrrrrraaaaargggggghhhhhh!" It comes out in a growl-scream.

For Paige, the yarn, well, it is somewhat sticky as she grabs it, but, it tears. Like... yarn. Is this just yarn? Meanwhile, the small device continues to clatter forward, moving along the yarn. Headed now in the direction of Paige. Oh no, it, climbs up the yarn, and then, then, it gets to the end. And stops clattering, those teeth locking down.

A moment, just a moment long enough to wonder whether or not this thing was a dud. And then, BOOOOM it's an incredible force exploding out from the little device that would've sent those cars flying off the bridge with ease. Thankfully Paige is the one getting exploded instead of those poor nearby people.

Paige Guthrie has posed:
Paige Guthrie fortunately is tough. But dang. Still. An explosion right in her face. She is, indeed, sent flying like a hunk of metal, and lands in the water. So with an inward sigh, she starts marching back. Walking along the river bed until her head pokes back out of the water. Like a Terminator, she steadily walks, then starts climbing back up the side of the river to get back into Brooklyn.

Emma Frost has posed:
It's takin moments for Emma to continue to try and press the crowd outwards and she's going to focus and continue to let her consciuosness expand. Moving to try and get the crowd to walk out calmly. Then as she would move to continue to as the.. Attacker is seemingly going to threaten them again, she would go to locate the arriving heroes and move to quickly try and send them a location and target. Without making it quite clear who she is (otehr than to Paige, at least). <<There is an attacker threatening civilians.>> Giving Valerie's placement along the bridge and where the hostages were. Her own location is kept fuzzy for a reason.

Emma does make sure to maintain her position as a telepath very subtly after all. So to Paige she gives the location of the attacker, as well as her own as she would kept ducked behind an upended car for cover. Her main focus is for now helping to keep the civilians calm and those (at least not within firing line of Valerie) moving away in a hopefully orderly fashion.

Jon Kent has posed:
The fires in Jon's path are smothered by the immense pressure of the compressed air in his lungs. He's like a walking (flying) fire extinguisher. He's almost done when he gets a telepathic memo. "Uh oh," He twists in the air and heads over in that direction.
He's a Super person, so it's only a couple of moments before he lands on the bridge where Valerie's harassing civilians. "I promise you, things will only get worse for you if you hurt another person," A beat. Jon picks up a sound beyond the realm of human hearing, and looks in that direction. "There are more explosives. Dangit." He's gone in a blur. Presumably to take care of the chattering teeth bombs.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
People are managing to stay calm, and try and get away from even the gun toting blue haired woman screaming. At least the fires being put out has distracted her for the time being, and the relative calm of the civilians keeps them from drawing a lot of attention back to themselves. It's only a delay however.

That's when the music shifts, yes, the music from her phone being blasted out. A quick guitar rift, pause, then another, pause. Then it hooks up with some drum beats, and then a guitar solo starts playing at loud volume with a nice poignant heavy beat. 'You can't fight the temptation, when you get the vibration' as No Good by Kaleo starts on her phone. And her head starts to rise and fall in beat with the bass, her fingers are fiddling to the sound of the guitar playing over head. One shoulder rises, in a stretch, then down it goes, as her other rises and drops, she stares at the hoodie wearing kid, "Get worse?" A quick single beat hah, "You don't know worse..." Then he's gone, "Shit, I had a fucking monologue prepared! Men, gone so quick." She shouts after him and then starts moving toward the nearest cluster of cars, picking up speed as she starts to run.

If not stopped, she's definitely going to just crash into a group of cars, causing them to spin and likely roll or tumble in the direction of civilians. At least she's not shooting them...?

Emma Frost has posed:
And Emma rapidly realizes that if the attacker isn't stopped, then there will be more immediate casualties. She has at least some time to switch things up.. The civilians will hopefully give at least a few seconds before they panic again. And Emma Frost is going to focus over upon Valerie. She doesn't have the time to do much or do anything particularly invasive..

But some form of disruption of the body is quite possible. So Emma just goes to take and try some quick muscle control. A spasm for the woman charging forwards if she could. That has one leg go out just a little too far over in stride, knocking her off balance while hopefully her momentum would take her forwards, other leg at a bad angle.. HOpefully if the sudden twist would have Valeire tripping and Emma's intent is to have her slam herself -down- hard over onto the concrete to hopefully land hard on her chin!

Paige Guthrie has posed:
Paige Guthrie is dripping wet, but fortunately that just makes her extra shiny. Getting the message from Emma, she starts jogging. Clank, clank, Clank. Fortunately people have the sense to make way for her, as she gets to the bridge. "Excuse me, Excuse me," she says to any straggling escapees as she makes a beeline right for the target given her by Emma. Looking, trying to figure out what's going on, and what needs doing.

Though, the music and the woman with guns are a big of a cluse as she gets closer. And so where where Valerie runs? Paige starts to run, lowering her head and charging. But can she make it on time?

Jon Kent has posed:
Jon moves between various locations around the bridge. For him, it's a slow-motion race against time as he desperately searches for the last of the explosives. One's found underneath a vacant car that he has to flip over. Another on the other end of the bridge. And lastly, a little girl got her hands on one. Jon snatches it away.
In real-time, this occurs in a few minutes. Once they've all been gathered, the young hero launches himself in the air, holding them close to his chest. He can't disarm them in time, wouldn't even know how if he had longer, and so the next best thing is to contain the explosion. Right?

Valerie Killmore has posed:
Step, step, stepstepstep, Hex starts to build up a pretty quick pace in short order, though she isn't some kind of Flash, she moves in a straight line pretty damn fast. And she's blurring as she rushes a collection of vehicles. That blur, suddenly becomes clear as she face plants, has enough momentum to involuntarily roll, tumbles, blue hair flying around in circles, twisting around the woman as she bounces down the street and comes to a sudden end as she crashes into Paige... the much heavier metal woman with likely far more force. Sending Hex back away from the cars, rebounding off of her and coming to rest in front of the metal woman, on the ground, groaning, and hopefully not about to be trampled.

The people around are waking up a little, like out of a daze of calmness, and start to ... notice, what's happening. It's a super fight! And people start to run, and others start pulling out phones, why? Cause, people drive after tornados for a few extra likes on Facebook.

For Jon, collecting the explosives, that were clattering at various targets along the bridge is a life saving service. Those people don't even know it, but he saved a bunch of people, but for him - it might be one of the few times he's felt pain. Not one bomb, 3, and they are infused with magic. One of them shoots out a blast of electrical sparks, erupting in a disorienting array of shocking lightning sparking through the air. And almost luckily, one of the bombs explodes out with heavy crystal like clay enwrapping him up and giving protection from the last explosion, but all three might send him off a bit from his original course, covered in thick instantly hardening clay after being electrocuted.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would go to send a messag eto Paige <<Good work, try an dkeep her immobilized as best you can. If you have the circumstances, try and disarm her>> They had to deal with the threat quickly before things escalated. And Paige is hopefully in a better position to do it; even if she can't keep Hex down hopefully the metal girl can just try and yank any weapons Hex has on her off of her to throw them away if at all!

Emma can only keep peirpheral attention over to Jon; through whatever she can pick up through the eyes of civilians. Once more there's hard pressure from Emma for them to walk away and hopefully towards approching emergency responders before more things detonate. Emma's only in a position where she can focus on a few things at once, particularly given she prefers to keep her abilities covert. So now she's going to jog up and over with the retreating civilians, milling about iwth them like another lost lamb.

Jon Kent has posed:
Jon used to love magic as a kid. Magicians were cool and mysterious, and before he developed his super senses, they'd always manage to amaze him. Then, he found out that the stuff is real and that it hurts. Really bad. For someone who rarely experiences pain, it's debilitating. The magic lightning burns his skin, and Jon's pained cries are muffled by the hardened clay enveloping him, and he crashes onto the bridge, cracking the crystal-like encasing.

Paige Guthrie has posed:
Paige Guthrie flinches She can't help it. Shes' metal but not used to it. The collision leaves her momentarily dazed. But having knocked dwon her target, she puts her hans on her hips. Head spinning a moment. "stop right there!" And then makes a LEAP! after Valerie.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
Sirens can be heard at opposite ends of the bridge. People are getting to safety, getting off the bridge, being taken to the side. None of the emergency responders dare step onto the bridge other than to help nearby and injured folks. Once again the mass exodus starts from the powerful telepath's influence pushing, and coordinating the response. Without her, this panic and hysteria would be resulting in massive amounts of injury causing chaos. Instead, the whole thing has a feel more like your neighbor left their oven on, the fire alarm goes off, and everyone goes outside to the 'safe zone' to wait for the fire department.

More locally, the song shifts to something faster, punctuating the events going on, as a female voice starts to sing 'I need some windows in my head to light the dark, but it's all boarded up with bones and other parts' Jail Time by Chloe Adams kicks in. Hex is planting her hand on the ground to try and push herself up after cracking her own face against the ground. The leap carries Paige close enough to easily pin the blue haired woman down, should she desire. The skinny punk Hex can only do so much against a fully metal person in her current disoriented state.

Poor Jon, though. Lit up, burned, encased, and then held to crash into the bridge. As he hits the ground there's a thud, roll, bounce and skid to a stop even as pieces of the clay encasement break free leaving him only mostly encased by the end.

Things are starting to look up for the heroes and not so great for the woman who clearly has a deep seeded hate for bridges. "NO, I am not caught. What? You... nnnhghh, oh, yeah? You're dumb!" She's shouting... at... who? Not Paige currently. Not even as she's trying to force herself back to her feet.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would go to tap along to her cheek while going to call out <<Paige, what is your status?>> Emma's mostly focused on monitoring the crowd and not paying specific attention to the other mutant, trusting that she has the situation well in hand. <<Do you see anything else that might be at hreat?>> Emma is trying to keep her attention around the civilians, and doesn't have much to spare over for anything else than that might be a threat. Emma's just a little faster in her jog so she's not falling behind the milling crowds going to the safe zones. Jon in the distance is given a -very- passing sypathetic look that might just be from another awed and surprised civilian thanks to her body language. So then she's simply jogging along and going towards the exit route and the authorities.

Jon Kent has posed:
The clay-encased body lays there. Jon's kind of spooked. That's not supposed to happen. He takes a few private moments to recover before punching through the hardened cage. The hoodie's seen better days. There's a huge burn mark where the symbol is supposed to be, and without it, he might as well be another civilian.
Someone helps him to his feet. "Are you alright?" A middle-aged man asks. "The police are here. We just have to get to other end of the bridge. Can you walk?"
He nods, still dazed as hell. "What about," He looks around. "Where is that girl?"
"Doesn't matter, son. Let's get you some help."

Paige Guthrie has posed:
Paige Guthrie thinks really hard and tries to reply to Emma. <<I see a crazy person who is probably THE threat here. I'm fighting with her.>> This she does as her leap, done while having suffered an explosion and a collision, leads her to.. miss? Almost. Try ing to wrap her arms around Valerie's ankles tightly as soon as she gets up at least. Holding her for the approaching police.

Norman Osborn has posed:
A deep resounding laughter echoes upon the scene, and there is another explosion. Much smaller in scale, but with more green. Thick green smoke and fire fill the area, the shrill cackling emanating from within.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
Being held by Paige isn't where Hex wanted to end up. She wanted to blow up as many people on the bridge as she could. Those clatter bombs on yarn having been setup close to places where people would likely congregate to get away from said Butterfly Air Explosion that started this whole thing off! And now? Now she's groaning and getting wrapped up by the metal woman.

That's when the smaller explosion happens, and Hex looks over, squinting, and then grabs one of the remaining clatter bombs strapped to her chest. She bites the yarn closest to the teeth and tugs. Holding it, and then says, "Bye bye Betsy." Curling forward around... the bomb?! Is she insane?!

Poor Paige. Another explosion goes off, very close to her, but this one is blocked a great deal by the blue haired villain taking most of the explosion. The force expels Hex away from Paige at exceptional speed, launching her away and off towards the smoke with the laughter, though more in the direction off the bridge, cause, well, it's a big explosion! She's... escaping, but looks like she's a bit burnt, far less than would be expected, but mostly limp from the force knocking her unconscious.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would go to call out <<Paige! Are you all right?>> Even as more explosios go off and there are further detonations up and over in the distance and that.. Unknown green smoke. <<If you have to just throw her over the side into the water if you can't handle her>> That would get her out of the way if there was too much risk of a fight. Emma not able to keep track of fully what was going on as far as the melee.

<<If you don't feel like youc an take her down without risk to yourself and she's fleeing, disengage.>> Emma's not giving orders; she's not in charge and not technically anything formally. She's just giving her particular thoughts on the matter to the other woman.

Norman Osborn has posed:
The loud cackle emanates from a green cloud as it descends upon the heroes near the bridge. A form emerges from the cloud - one who also has a profound love of chaos on bridges - The Green Goblin!

"Very daring, stealing my bit! Ah hahahahaha!" The Goblin hurls pumpkin bombs galore at Valerie and those near her. Imagine his surprise as she detonates a bomb and goes flying away.

"Not so fast, dearie!" Whirling around on his glider, the Goblin gives chase, firing a line out at the plummeting figure.

With a sudden yank he takes off on the glider, dragging the bound would-be villain off. Those gathered can hear him maniacally laughing about how he is going to punish the girl who dared attack one of his bridges.

Paige Guthrie has posed:
Paige Guthrie goes in the air. It'd be comical normally. Her shiny butt shooting up, blowing by Goblin in his glider, and then coming down to land in the park by the bridge. Every limb at an awkward angle. Groaning as she climbs up onto her hands and knees.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
The people are pretty much saved. All of them. No one really died in this massive bomb infested attack. Luckily the lightest, most frightening explosion seemed to be more of a distraction to cause chaos than anything else. With Emma's unexpected calming, Jon's daring-putting-his-own-life-on-the-line bomb intervention and Paige saving people, getting soaked and crashing into the bluehaired woman... much of her would be plan seems to have fizzled after the first scary entrance.

And, instead of being put into a van, she was captured. Just, ironically, by another bomb loving psychopath. At least, for now, the Manhattan Bridge is saved and with hours and hours left of cleanup as well as the injured headed to care... it seems like more of a normal everyday villain escapade.
