Winter Check Ins
Date of Scene: 23 January 2022
Location: Jan's Hotel Suite
Synopsis: Veira surprises Jan with dinner and dog essentials! An official date is made. Momma dog gets a name!
Cast of Characters: Veira Lazarescu, Jan de Wit

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
A text had been sent to Jan early in the evening on Sunday: What is your favorite take out and do you mind a visitor?

It was from Veira, naturally. The woman had been off the clock for about five minutes when she sent the text to the man. If she got a response she'd have picked up the food that she'd texted about and taken the time to make herself look halfway presentable before showing up at his hotel that he was currently staying in.

The elevator ride makes her a bit fidgety, but she steps off with a smile as she'd adjusted her bag over her shoulder and whistled a merry little tune as she had made her way down to his room. Her hands are currently holding a bag of food in one hand and a bag of dog toys and essentials in the other.

Her hand raps on the door once she gets to it, "Housekeeping!"

Jan de Wit has posed:
He had responded with Chinese for take out, and that he'd absolutely love a visitor. The room was a very posh suite - plenty of room and comfort for anyone who would care to enjoy it. The momma had checked every inch, to make certain it was safe for her and her pup. She was satisfied, and had a pile of warm blankets nested up for them to lay in. Things were going well!

Dressed in comfortable clothing, Jan answered the door with a grin. "Housekeeping? Is that so?" He chuckles, having recognized the voice at least. "Come in Veira, can I help with anything?" He asks. As she's heard, momma and pup are up - tails wagging in greeting. "Looks like you have friends already."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira's all smiles when the door is opened and reveals Jan on the other side. Something seems to settle her and she tries not to give one of those dopey grins to the man. "I mean, I'm pretty good with making beds, so...yeah?" she offers as she looks to him. She steps in when he allows her and there's a moment taken to hand the bag of chinese talk out over to him, "Just with this, please and thank you." she tells him.

Then there are dogs to greet! "Oh my goodness look at you two!" she giggles. "Have they been doing alright? No shoes or walls being chewed through?" she asks him as she looks around the suite. There is a low whistle, "You guys got a lot of space to roam." she grins to that.

"Are you doing alright?" she asks him as she settles her gaze back to follow his movements.

Jan de Wit has posed:
A grin and a shake of his head. "I don't feel I have an appropriate comment for that, Veira." Jan chuckles, as he takes the take out. The food is then moved over to the table, centered in the middle to avoid any curious snoots. He turns to watch her with the dogs, grinning. The puppy is bouncing about at her feet, the momma is sitting politely and grinning up at her.

"No chewed upon footwear, no. They've been excellent roommates." A smile as he moves over, reaching down to pet mom on the head. "No undue barking - very good friends." He assures.

Standing back up, he grins. "Just as fine as can be. No bruises or gunshots, so..." A chuckle. "How about you? How is your pup doing?"

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira kneels down as the puppy bounces about her feet and she ruffles it with her free hand, "I brought them some essentials, some toys and treats...I might have went a little over board, but I also bought one of those canvas totes to keep it all in so it won't be cluttered all over your suite." she smiles to him.

"They do make adorable roomies. I'm really wondering where the mother came from with her markings." she admits. "I'm glad it's been good so far." she adds.

"I was worried that there might have been injuries." she admits. "I apologize that I'm just now getting out to check in as well." she states as she rises to look at him.

"I'm alright. I checked the pup into the vet and they are getting checked out and pampered a bit. I'll pick them up tomorrow when they open. Atilla is way too excited to meet them." she chuckles.

Jan de Wit has posed:
A shake of his head, the man smiling warmly to her. "I have a feeling they are going to live a very spoiled and pampered life going forward." A chuckle as he notes all the toys. "And they have been very good about keeping things tidy. I got them a few rawhide chews and balls to tide them over, until we get back to Manhattan." He explains.

"I'm not much of a dog pedigree person - I am curious though too. Which veteranarian did you take them to? I should get these two checked too - perhaps see if there is some sort of prosthetic we can get for mom." A nod. "Very glad to hear you are doing all right - thankfully you missed the gunfire."

A wr grin. "You're welcome to check me out, but no - no injuries. I suspect the gentleman we caught has a broken finger and a concussion, though." A slight shrug. "He got off easy, though." His hand touches her arm. "No need to apologize. We have lives, we have responsibilities and things that need to be handled. I can't be expecting you every moment - no matter how nice that would be." Jan chuckles.

"Atilla is a dog dragon?" He grins. "I wasn't sure how he'd react."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
"Excellent, keep up the good work you two." Veira tells the mother and pup duo that has now turned back to look at Jan for things. They were good dogs. She gives a smile at his words, "I expected nothing less of pampered coming from you, Jan." she tells him with an adoring look. He was a good person.

"I took them to one in Queens, a little family owned place that I've taken a lot of animals to. I can give you their contact information if you'd like?" she offers. "Just exhausted mainly. I put in for vacation after this situation in Manhattan settles." she admits to that.

"If they'd shot you they'd have worse than a broken finger and a concussion." she states with a bit of a grump. But she gives a look to his hand touching her arm and back to his eyes, "I know, but I enjoy being able to check in on you. And now you have adorable babies to tend to." she grins. "Atilla is a 'It has fur and adorable' dragon." she tells him in an amused tone.

"Do you mind if I hug you? I know that's a weird question." she asks after a heartbeat of quietness on her side.

Jan de Wit has posed:
The dancer smiles, nodding in affirmation about the dogs he's sheltering in the suite. "They are. I am just glad we were able to follow her and find out what she needed." He says, giving another scritch to momma's head. "Dogs are a blessing - they deserve to be pampered. They offer love and companionship without reserve."

Jan nods as she mentions the place in Queens. "Yes, please. It'd probably be good to get them all checked out at the same doctor. Maybe they can build a file for the family." A chuckle. As she mentions exhaustion, he nods. "If you ever need a place to relax, unwind - please let me know. You are welcome here, and free to use the amenities of course." He motions to the bathroom - garden bath and decadent shower. "Soak for as long as you need to recharge."

He concedes on the gunshot comment. "He wasn't fast enough to have shot me. But I do appreciate your concern. And I do appreciate the checkins, if it means I get to see you." A hearty laugh at the Atilla comment. "Well, he can come over too and see the whole family."

There's a blink and a smile. "You are more than welcome to hug me, Veira. I'd like that."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira seems delighted that things with the dogs are going well. "I'll leave the information and card before I head back to work." she nods to that. "I'm guessing that the mothers lost paw is an older injury, but we can hope that it doesn't have anything else odd coming up." she admits.

There's a look to the offer of using the amenities when he points them out and she smiles to him, "I think I might take you up on a soak at some point." she grins at that. "And I'll have to tell Atilla he's welcome. That will make him a happy dragon." she chuckles.

She quiets when he blinks, but Veira gives a look to him when he tells her that it's alright to hug him. She unshoulders the backpack and settles it off to the side before she crosses the distance to him and proceeds to slip her arms around his shoulders to start the hug. "I know you've got your extra senses, but the gunshot scared me." she admits in a soft breath.

Jan de Wit has posed:
A nod at the mention of the paw. "Hopefully we can get something fitted for her, so her hips and posture is corrected and she doesn't suffer any other issues from the missing paw." Jan explains. "I am sure it can be a betterment of her life going forward."

"I can even make myself scarce, to allow you privacy for soaking." He beams. "It really is a pleasant bath - though I am partial to the one I have at home."

His own arms go around to the small of her back, returning the embrace. "I appreciate that, I do. He was aiming towards your EMT friend - though it was a very misplaced shot. Thankfully he wasn't shot either." The man explains, relaxed in her arms. "I... thank you for being worried over me."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a soft sigh when he returns the hug, resting her chin on his shoulder comfortably as she takes the time to just enjoy the contact. "I hope it's alright if I worry and fuss over you." she tells him with a soft chuckle. After the embrace she lets her arms slowly withdraw, her hands sliding down his arms with a smile. "I'd never ask you to excuse yourself from a place that you're allowing me to use." she muses.

"I was going to say something else, but that would lead into teasing and we should probably eat dinner before it gets cold." she winks at him. "And see how these two do with table manners." she grins at the dogs.

"Thankfully there are a lot of companies that also make prosthetics for dogs as well as humans." she smiles to him. "So finding the right fit for her should be fairly easy." she comments.

Jan de Wit has posed:
The contact, the touch, is clearly something Jan is fond of. His hands keep rested at her hips - politely. "I am sure that if it is a problem, I will surely say something to you. I find it nice to have someone concerned over my well-being, that isn't an agent looking to make his profit." A wink to her. "And very well, I'll simply keep clear to give you privacy." A chuckle.

He motions to the table as she teases about teasing. "Let's eat - it does smell wonderful." A grin. "The food at the hotel here is fantastic, but it is abundant in Asian cuisine." He laments. A look to the pups, Jan chuckling. "They are good. And if they are good, I do feed them a bit of chicken or steak."

She's led to the table, a chair pulled out for her. "Yes, I've seen everything from prosthetics, to animatronic versions, to wheels. I think we should be able to find something quite fitting for our girl. Perhaps one of those bowing flexible ones, so she can sprint again?"

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a soft chuckle, "I'm definitely not a member of the CIA." she tells him as she turns her gaze back to his. "Please feel free to kick me out if I overstay my welcome." she tells him with a soft smile. "I had a joke for the bathtub comment, but I'll behave for now." she gives a grin.

"I'm glad they were open still. I was worried the shop would be closed up before I got there. So, score for us." she tells him cheerily. "We'll have to see if they like noodles if they are good." she states with a soft smile to the two dogs. She was already loving them.

She settles into the seat and gives a smile to him, "Thank you, Jan." she tells him. "I think one of the flexible ones would be good for her. I think they are built to be active." she nods to this. "We now have very important things to think about. Like what are you going to name them?" she asks as she starts to set out the food from the bag.

Jan de Wit has posed:
The pup runs a circle then finds one of the toys to savage. Mom lays down nearby, tail wagging as she watches. "Not CIA... that's comforting." Jan smirks. "Though it does leave a lot of other options there." He teases her back. "I look forward to hearing the joke, later." Jan settles into his seat, starting to unpack the food cartons for easy access.

"I'm sure they will manage - I planned on getting them some steak from room service in a bit." Posh living for the dogs! A plate is offered over to her so she can load up as needed. "Is this a favorite place of yours, this restaraunt?" Jan wonders, taking in a deep breath to enjoy the aroma of the dinner.

A look to the mother, Jan grinning as he spots the tail wagging. "I think she will be very happy to run again without issue." His eyes go back to Veira. "Names, I had not thought on. I was going to ask after what you'd named yours?"

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira watches the puppy run off to savage a toy. It made her smile brightly at it. Apparently happy to watch the little ones have fun. "I'm glad they're in out of the cold and have someone that will take good care of them. Or multiple people." she chuckles to that. "And steak? Getting spoiled already." she grins to that.

"Nothing wrong with a little spoiling." she nods to this. She takes the offered plate and settles it in front of her. A pair of chopsticks is handed over to him, "I wouldn't want you to use a fork." she teases gently. "But yes, this is a little family owned place not too far from my apartment and I stop in there religiously to get food. The owner thought I was depressed since I ordered so much food." she muses.

"There's so many places to take them and go hiking and running that she'll need it. Especially if you go across seas with us." she smiles to them. "I've not thought about a name yet, though I was thinking of maybe a flower or tree name?" she offers.

Jan de Wit has posed:
A smile. "They all found a home. We should work on getting them reunited for play dates and such." He chuckles, amused at the pup tossing, flipping and flopping with the toy. "I think a little spoiling is in order, considering they rough start they had." A wink.

Jan takes the chopsticks with a grin. "I can use forks, you know." He teases her, winking playfully. "I look forward to trying this then. A favorite food is good to know of, and better to taste. It's like finding out one's favorite music. It speaks of the person." He begins placing a bit of each on his plate, looking to sample all the flavors.

"I am wondering if she is as much a fan of that park as I am." He chuckles. "I think there could be some worth in a botanical name. Orchid, for the mother?"

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
"I think Monthly or by monthly play dates would be good, I think since most of the people that got dogs know each other it would be doable." Veira states with a smile. She's happy to have a puppy. She watches the puppy along with Jan for a moment, hey, she got two puppies really!

His comment about using a fork makes her grin, "Yes, but you'd not look nearly as exotic as you do with chopsticks." she tells him with a wink. "Honestly it's not a five star place, but they make great food. So hopefully you do enjoy it." she tells him with a softer smile. There's a bit of everything really, lo mein, fried rice, all the favorite things.

"Orchid is a lovely name. I like that." she tells him. "She might find the park a safe space and that might be why she had brought the pups there. They're old enough and weaned, but she seems to have been keeping everyone together." she admits.

Jan de Wit has posed:
"Agreed. Get them all back together regularly, both to keep them playful and keep the family together. Of course, you are welcome to bring over your pup any time." Jan decides. "I've run into that woman before. Never the EMT or the other young man." A slight chuckle. "They seemed good people, at least - all wanting to help."

"Exotic? That would be you, Veira. I simply look like an aging dancer." He teases her, grinning implishly. "Not all restaraunts should be judged on their stars. Comfort food is just as fantastic as something prepared by top chefs." A nod, getting a bit more fried rice as well.

"I like Orchid for her, I do. The little, I still need to see more of their personality." He grins. "And she is a good mother - protecting her young, and keeping them near. It says a lot that she trusted us all to take them in separate directions."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
"I'll see if Martin is up for that. He and his husband are wonderful guys." Veira states with a smile. "I've not met the other two, but I'm sure they are fine people if Orchid didn't try to eat them." she grins as she looks to the beautiful dog. "I might bring them over a few times, but don't want to get you in trouble with the hotel." she tells him honestly.

There's a blush when he calls her exotic, "There is nothing about you that is simply anything, Jan." she points out with a warm look to him. "I do agree when it comes to comfort food. A lot of places are delcious and rather homey." she smiles to that as she gets some more lo mein.

"She is a good mom. I think it was sort of fate intervening and we'll have to see if there is more to it or if our part was just being there for them." she comments to him. "Thank you for taking two of them on." she tells him.

Then she gives a bit of a curious look to him, "If a lady was interested in asking you on a date where would be a place you'd like to go?" she asks him.

Jan de Wit has posed:
A nod regarding Martin. "He seemed a good fellow, indeed. Is he a coworker?" He wonders, smiling. "I think I've seen the woman in passing, at the park." Jan mentions. "And I would not worry over upsetting the hotel - they are being compensated for my additional guests." He chuckles. "And since they are well-behaved, they seem amiable to having them. That said, I don't think there are any on this floor who would overhear any barking, given the size of the suite."

Jan gives a nod to her, his cheeks a bit flushed as well. "Thank you, Veira. I appreciate you thinking such about me." He chuckles. "I actually am a fan of American, southern comfort food. It just sits well with me, though it means I have a lot more calories to work of."

a tip of his head. "Indeed, she is an excellent mom." Orchid's tail wags, thumping happily on the floor. "It is my pleasure to have her and her pup here. They tend to keep my feet warm when I get into bed - both hop up and lay at the foot."

A sly smile. "Well, I do love fine dining. I could also enjoy going out to a club dancing, of course."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
"Martin is an EMT and has worked in NYC for a long time. I knew him when we had the alien attack and things. You seem to keep running into the same people in this town. So I guess he is a coworker." Veira chuckles at that. "That is nice of the hotel and of you." she points out with a smile.

"Southern comfort food tends to involve a lot of gravy and I am absolutely here for it." she giggles. "But yes, a lot of calories to work off for those who have to keep their figures trim." she grins. "The bed might get a touch crowded, but I'm guessing they are happier there than on the floor." she tells him.

She looks to him as he explains what he likes and she smiles to him, "I think I could find a nice club to go to." she taps her chin in thought as she says this.

"Would you like to go on a date with me?" she asks him.

Jan de Wit has posed:
As he eats, he listens - nodding when she explains Martin and their repeated meetings. "And I am sure it is an unfortunate thing that your job might require the aid of EMTs." Jan says, quietly. "I recall the alien situation." A shake of his head. "Always somethign with New York." He chuckles. A tip of his head as she mentions the niceness. "It is the least I can do."

"Thankfully, I know many ways to work off the excess, from my profession to other activities." A grin. "I always look for new excercises, so as to not fall into a routine and to keep my mind active."

A nod to her. "I would be happy to go on a date with you, Veira. I rather enjoy your company, and I think spending more time with you would be something I'd grow more and more fond of."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
"Yes, it's one of those friendships that you make over tradgedies." Veira tells him with a soft frown. "But they are good people. I think we're better for it." she smiles to that. "Definitely always something with the place, but it's home." she admits.

She takes a drink of her water as she listens to him speak on ways to work off the excess calories and there's an impishness that settles into her smile, but she doesn't say anything. Not yet at least. "Teaching hopeless women to dance will take a lot of exercise as well." she grins at that.

His comments on him growing fond of her makes her blush again, "I'll see about finding a nice place for dinner and dancing." she grins to that. "I'm guessing when you say club you mean something upbeat and things, not like an old timey dance hall...though I think I know of one of those." she admits.
