Timeout in the Tower
Date of Scene: 25 January 2022
Location: Main Room - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: Titans meet and greet Roy, eat some leftovers and wonder when Kaida got so tall!
Cast of Characters: Gar Logan, Roy Harper, Kaida Connolly, Koriand'r, Irie West

Gar Logan has posed:
A typical day in the Tower, for some more than others. There is a nature documentary playing on the big TV screen, which is often the case when Gar's taken up a spot there. It's that or video games, though he's got a streaming setup back in his room as well. This is for the more communal gaming sessions.

The documentary has to do with different birds, and there is a green one currently perched on the coffee table, watching. It looks like the type of bird being shown right now, known as a Great Eared Nightjar. It's a very distinct-looking one, as far as they go, and Gar's version watches with rapt attention.

Roy Harper has posed:
Roy must have been working out. He comes in wearing gray sweat pants, running shoes, and a brown T-shirt with many pictures of small birds of the Paridae family. The caption above all of the birds is 'Nice Tits.' The shirt and sweat pants are soaked with sweat, as is his ginger hair.

He goes to a fridge and pulls out a 2-liter bottle of spring water. He twists off the cap and throws it across the room to the trash can. Swish. Nothing but net. He must be planning on drinking the entire thing. "Friend of yours?" he asks Gar playfully as he leans against a counter as he watches the screen and starts power guzzling the water.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
There's a rush of wind coming up from the shaft that people use to fly up (or run up as is the case) into the tower. The blur of motion is so big and fast that one might expect Bart, Wally, or maybe Irie to be the cause of it but insteadd, in the fridge pulling out leftovers in stacks on to the counter is Kaida who then proceeds to take down two leftover pizzas and one whole bowl of pasta before stopping for a moment to chug a cola.

Honestly, that is kinda a lot of food for the mouse girl but the part that might be more surprising is she's currently five foot tall. A rather strange height for a normally six inch tall mouse.

"Ahhhh!" She unleashes as she finishes the cola and then reaches over to grab a sweet and spicy boneless wing and pop it into her mouth before finally saying, "I needed that."

Koriand'r has posed:
Downtime! Kori was here, out of costume and wrapped in her casual clothing. Simple shorts and a t-shirt, Kori was barefoot and her 'almost literally flaming' locks hanging free behind her as she made her way into the kitchen and nudges her way past Roy and leaning -over- Kaida without a thought, giving the pair a little smile of greeting. Her own looted provision? Leftover chinese food...and a bottle of mustard is quick to follow, balanced neatly while she made her way to the couch.

"It is good to have this time of relaxation!" she proclaims loudly, clearly content to address any who would listen.

Gar Logan has posed:
The small bird looks over toward Roy and there's a sort of 'snrfl' of a chuckle at what's printed on his shirt. Rather than addressing that any further, a wing extends toward the screen and he practically chirps while hopping in place. "No, but dude! These guys are like dragon birds! Aren't they cool? I'm totally gonna have to remember this for some other stuff at some point."

As Kori turns up, Gar flits over to circle her, dipping and diving, remarking, "KoriKoriKori, hiiii! Whatcha got there?" Lest he start pecking at the containers, he lands atop a shoulder in time for his head to tilt openly.

"Whoa. Kaida got a growth spurt. When did that happen?" Someone hasn't been paying attention to recent developments. "Uhh, what's up, everyone?"

Roy Harper has posed:
With a playful wink to the bird-watching bird, Roy pushes off the counter he was leaning against. Most of the 2-liter bottle of spring water is gone in one giant swig. As he moves past Kori he gives her a warm smile. He hasn't met her before. "Hey, I'm Roy Harper," he says. "Arsenal. I'm a...freeloading around here and stuff. It's cheaper than joining a gym."

He finally comes to a stop near Kaida. "Okay, am I crazy or the last time I saw you were you like thiiiiiiis big?" As he says 'thiiiiiiiis' he squats down so his hand it like half a foot off the floor. "And at that size you ate an entire pizza." He blinks as his brain does the food arithmetic.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"Angels, lots of fighting, they're weird and can't agree on anything. One made me big. HUGE MISTAKE!" She waves her hands in the air and hten shrugs, "Now I'm way hungier, way stronger, way faster, and I have no idea how long it'll last." She looks over at Kori with a grin and waves, "Hi, Kori." She then blinks at Roy as he squats down and then casually pops a couple more boneless wings before nodding to him.

"I eat, a lot. I eat more now." She shrugs and nods her head, "Way more." Then she sucks in a breath and lets it out slowly before slumping a little, "I also now feel very weird and have no idea why I'm hearing things differently and seeing things differently but I figure I'll cross that bridge when I burn it."

Koriand'r has posed:
Clearly unbothered by the flittering, tweeting and sheer energy of Gar that could probably match her own quite well, the Tamaran Princess-turned-heroine upends the mustard bottle over her meal, smiling brightly. "I believe it is 'Eel', noodles and...a type of spice I cannot pronounce without it sounding a lot an insult the Wardlords of Okaara used to use..."

A turn back to Roy, apparently completely unbothered by the fact there was a new face in the tower. If they weren't meant to be there, they wouldn't be...right?

"Greetings! I am Koriand'r of Tamaran and the Titans. Or you can simply call me 'Starfire' if you like. It is what I am called in the 'field'."

Back to Kaida, there was a blink mid-bite of her meal, a tilt of her head as if only in that moment had she noticed Kaida was...well, a lot bigger than she was meant to be.

Gar Logan has posed:
Continuing to use Kori as an impromptu perch, Gar explains quickly, "Roy's been around a bit, might be hanging out around here more often. He can do the neat pew-pew-pew-BOOM things with arrows, kind of like the Hawkeyes."

Yes, the little green dragon-bird just made a rather loud 'BOOM' sound effect, sorry Kori's hearing. He also sprung away from that shoulder with wings at full extension, zipping over toward Roy and Kaida to now circle the /giant/ five-foot mouse a few times.

To her, he explains solemnly, "You realize, of course, that if you eat any of my food this means war, right? Or we're gonna need an even bigger food budget." He's landed on the countertop, his wings attempting to mime a 'hands at hips' posture. It, along with his appearance, only makes him look sillier. "By the way, I didn't really understand any of what you just said. How did they make you big?" He mutters after a moment, trying to sound personally offended, "Better not last too long. I'm supposed to be the cute one."

Irie West has posed:
With a flash of yellow, a wild Irie appears! "HOMETIME!" she yells at the top of her lungs and drops her bookbags down somewhere randomly on the floor like a typical teenager. She rushes over to the fridge to get her after school snack and cries, "Who ate all the pizza?"

She looks around to see who the likely culprit would be. Roy. No. Average human. Kori? Only if it was a mustard pizza. Gar? Quite likely. Kaida? Most def.... waaaaitaminit. "Ohmygosh, Kadia! You're big!" She rushes over and with no regard for personal space gives the mouse a big hug! "I hugged you!" she declares with a grin, the pizza emergency forgotten for the moment.

Roy Harper has posed:
Roy Harper finishes the remainder of the spring water in the bottle and does a perfect-form basketball shot toward the recycle. Again, nothing but net. Aiming is kind of his jam. But, the bottle bounces off other empty plastic bottles in the bin and skitters across the kitchen floor. Sigh. Way to look bad in front of the new team.

He watches the flashy yellow streak come in. He's been around Bart both here and at the Roost, so he's no stranger to speedsters. "Hi," he says with a small wave to Irie. "Roy Harper," he explains. His body language seems to suggest that if he had a tail it would be tucked between his legs as he mopes over to where his missed bottle is. He picks it up and drops into the recycle bin.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A look over at Gar and Kaida stares at him a moment before clearing her throat. She raises a hand and waves it at him in a sort of 'these are not the droids you are looking' for fashion before nodding.

"There, that's it. That's all I know about how I got to be like this." She then shrugs, "Just imagine a white winged Kian doin' that and you have the entire story of how I got like this." She then blinks as Irie comes in and she hugs Irie back with a smile and Irie might have noticed that Kaida reacted rather quickly to the hug.

"Nice shot, Roy!" She grins and gives him a thumbs up, "Too bad it bounced out but hey, still good." She then turns and in a blur consumes the rest of the boneless wings before letting out a sigh, "I have been doing way too much fighting and also this is weird and it hsouldn't be cause I wasn't always small but I really am not used to this and bleh!"

Koriand'r has posed:
"I am told that weirdness can be beautiful!" Kori offers from her lounging position at the couch, a wave to Irie and her concerns of pizza even as she consumed her mustard-soaked chinese food leftovers with a fork. Of course, that had been one of the people at her 'other' job trying to explain something to do with her modelling before she'd moved back to the Tower, but it was a nice sentiment. "You do not need to worry Kaida, we are all happy to help you and glad to have you among us regardless of what size you are!"

Ever upbeat, the Tamaranian barely paused her mouthfuls between the reassurance.

Gar Logan has posed:
Making a return to his usual self, Gar is dressed in a set of casual clothing consisting of a tank top and basketball shorts. He's barefoot. "That still doesn't make any sense to me, but.." He reaches out to lightly poke at an arm of the five-foot mouse to verify it's all real, as if just seeing her in the middle of eating food and hugging Irie wasn't enough. "Definitely not an optical illusion. We'll figure something out if it doesn't just wear off. Maybe you can talk to Nadia or Vic. Hey, Irie," he finishes, brows scrunching together.

"I count that as a make. Not your fault it was full," he tells Roy, seeking to nudge him in the side in passing. Where's he going? Why, the fridge of course, to claim something for himself before anyone else can get their hands or paws or whatever on it! Rummage, rummage, rummage. "Ah. Club sandwich. Looks okay, smells okay." It passes the tests, if barely, and he starts to chow down.

"Kori, weirdness around here is normal. If you're not weird in some way, you're not trying hard enough. Roy, what's something that's weird about you?" Not to put him on the spot or anything. "Oh, and you can change the channel if you want. I saw what I needed to."

Irie West has posed:
"Hi!" Irie says cheerily to Roy, whooshing over to him. "I'm Iris West, but everybody just calls me Irie. Welcome to the tower! So you do arrows and stuff like Hawkeye and Green Arrow? Neat! I'm a speedster, though you could probably have seen that already. Bart's my cousin! Do you know Bart? If you don't he's a speedster, too."

"Hey!" Irie shouts in protest as Kaida snarfs down the rest of the wings. "Save some for the rest of us speedsters!" She sighs dejectedly and goes back to the kitchen to make herself a snacky shake. At least they have a good supply of /those./

"Well," she says to Kori, "I am weird /and/ beautiful!" She swishes her copper hair about, "Everybody loves redheads."

Gar gets a cheerful wave, "Hi Gar!"

Roy Harper has posed:
Although he's too proud to show it, anyone on the other side of Roy would see him doing a poor job of hiding a slight smile when he gets words of encouragement from Kaida and Gar about the missed shot. He wouldn't admit it even under severe interrogation, but it's nice to hear some kind words sometimes. Then yellowfast appears in front of him instantly. He smiles a little more. "Hey, Irie. Yeah, I know Bart. I'm a member of the Outsiders, so I see him all the time at the Roost. He's a solid guy and one hell of a warrior. Great t'meet ya."

There's a lot of eating going on, and Roy just burned a couple thousand calories in one of those crazy, old school, Oliver Queen workouts in the gym so he needs some food. He gets out bread, peanut butter, grape jelly, and a knife. Opening the bread, he lays out four slices in a row, then four slices in a row below that. One row for peanut butter and one row for jelly.

"So wait," he says to Kaida. "Am I understanding you correctly? You were enlarged as part of some sort of weapon attack? You were assaulted and it made you big? Have you been checked medically?"

He begins the peanut butterization process of the top row putting, frankly, ridiculous amounts of peanut butter on each slice.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A grin at Kori and Kaida nods. She then looks over at Gar before shaking her head and letting out a sigh even as Roy seems to get it wrong, too. She looks over at Irie and then smiles at her before shaking her head and looking at the food.

"Not just a speedster, I can also throw a car." She looks over at Roy again before clearing her throat, "And I don't knwo if it was an attack. It was a wave of a hand and I was huge. Nothing more or less. I seem to be healthy, just way stronger, way tougher, and way faster." She then looks at the empty food boxes, "And way hungrier." She then looks ahead, "I know this can be a big deal but I'm tired.

"I'd really rather subject change because I've been fighting for the past two days straight and I'm really ready to just do anything else."

Gar Logan has posed:
"I don't know many of them," Gar tells Roy, regarding the Outsiders. "Then again, I haven't really asked anyone about them." A few have associations with the Titans, at least. "Aren't most of them based around Gotham? I don't spend much time over there. I have a feeling like the moment I go over there, Batman would be yelling at me even if I'm Team Bat like I said in my videos I did recently." He punctuates this by circling Roy as he works on his sandwiches, not as that bird, but this time as an actual bat.

Making his way toward Kaida again, he lands as his green teen self once more. "Hey, if you just don't want to think too much about it for now, that's cool. I won't push it. Just getting used to everything being a different size has to be crazy. I've never really thought about that part because I know I can go back to this any time. We got your back, though. And your tail."

Irie's talk of redheads leads to a cough into a hand. "Dunno anything about that!" he claims.

Irie West has posed:
Irie grins at Roy. "Neat! If you're in the Outsiders with him then you're cool in my book!" She nods to Gar. "Yeah. Whenever I'm in Gotham I'm always expecting Batman to show up to tell me how disappointed he is in me."

She nods at Kaida in sympathy. "I'm just happy I got to hug you," she says as if that was the most important thing in the world. "Wanna play some Mario Kart? I may be the fastest girl alive in the real world, but I'm also the fastest girl alive in racing games, too! Roy! Gar! Kori! You can join in!" That's five people playing a four player game. Somehow they'll make it all work out. Vic probably modded the game so the entire team could play at once anyway.

Roy Harper has posed:
Roy finishes up his sandwiches, piles them on a paper towel, cleans up his mess -- Roy's a bit of a neat freak -- and heads for the door. "I gotta grab my stuff from the gym and get a shower." He's already mostly done with one of the sandwiches by the time he walks out. Dude's hungry. He calls back, "Nice meeting everyone! Have a great night!"
