Cast of Characters: Lydia Dietrich, Raven Darkholme

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia tidies up her place after speaking with Isis. The offerings are put away or disposed of and the little alter she created on the coffee table has been stowed back in the trunk. She returns to the Asteroid and heads to her and Raven's quarters, pulling out her phone she types a message to her lover, "Need to talk to you, but it can wait. Finish your day and I'll be waiting in our room. ;)"

With that done she pulls open her laptop, and starts working on her book. It's been a while since she's done anything with it, so it'll be good to return to it, if only for a little while.

Raven Darkholme has posed:
With so many tasks on the asteroid that need handling, Mystique has delegated out most of the smaller things and is only handling major issues. Today was a light day though, finally things seem to be calming down, people settling in. There was still the small group attempting to raise money via stealing from others, but they had managed to track down the 'ring leader'... twelve year old street kid. Punishment? Washing dishes.

Returning to her room about an hour after the text, she slips inside. "Been a while since I saw that," she comments as she looks to Lydia with a smile.

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia gets up from her chair and walks over to Raven to give her a loving kiss on the lips. "Tonight is a night dedicated to spending time with you," she says. "A goddess told me so, and who am I to deny her?" She grins and leads Raven to one of the plush chairs and gently pushes her into it so she can crawl up into her lap. "With the seal pretty much completed I can afford a little time off. Besides, sealing the portal to Gaea isn't the end of it, and I need to tell you what's going to happen next," she says turning serious.

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Forceful Lydia, Mystique loved it when she got like that, all she could do was let her love push her around and end up sitting with Lydia in her lap. She could have easily stopped her, but it was far more fun not to.

"There was a lot in all that, so let me see if I got it all. You were told to spend the evening with me by a goddess," she begins, wrapping her arms around Lydia. "The seal is mostly completed and you got serious... what happens next?"

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia wraps her arms around Mystique and plants another kiss on the lips. "I'm going to have to go into the Egyptian underworld. Their land of the dead. There's something... broken with our universe that can only be fixed there," she says. "That's why all of this is happening. Michael wants to just destroy the universe and start over, but a deal has been made to give us a chance to fix it."

"There's going to be six of us," she says. "My job is going to be opening the pathway to the underworld, and since out of all of us, I'm the only one who's died and come back, I'm going to be the one leading them back." She leans her head on Raven's shoulder and snuggles up into her. "When I made that promise that I'd find a way back from the afterlife to always be with you, I didn't know it was going to be quite so literal."

"Regardless," she says. "You have a very important part in this. You are my anchor. You will be my guiding light. You will be the one my heart sings to to lead us out of the underworld." She shakes her head. "You don't have to do much. Just... keep me in your heart while I'm gone. It'll help if I bring something of yours... something personal that you're attached to. Something that's belonged to you for a while."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
No, that is not what Mystique was expecting. She blinks once, locking emotions back into her chest and nods.

"You're always in my heart Lydia," she says softly. "It won't be any different, save I'll be worried sick." She pulls Lydia close and kisses her deep but lovingly, letting her hands caress her back.

When she breaks the kiss she looks back to Lydia's face. "I don't have many things left, possessions have always been transitional. There are a couple of things I have had for a long, long time. Not what most would call sentimental, but they are to me. I'll give you one to take."

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia returns the kiss just as lovingly. "I know you'll worry for me," she says. "I'd worry too if our positions were reversed, I wouldn't expect anything less." She snuggles deep into Raven's embrace. "I had to talk to Isis... the Egyptian goddess to find this all out. That's what I was doing earlier. She told me tonight to spend time with you and that's exactly what I plan on doing."

She lets out a little contented sound. "I swear, when this business is done, you and I are going to spend a week in Paris just.... having fun."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Mystique puts a smile on, but the concern is still in her face as well. There was a time that she would have tried to conceal it, but from Lydia that was an impossibility, so instead she let's it show just a little. Her hand continues to caresses her lover's back lightly, just to touch her, nothing more to it.

"I wish I could go with you, Lydia," she admits plainly. "I wish that our paths hadn't diverged so much from one another. I try not worry, I try very hard not to send people out to spy on what you're doing. It's been difficult, but you have to go do what you need to do, no matter how much I hate it."

Stretching up she brushes a kiss over Lydia's lips. "Why Paris?" She then asks, then says something fluid French.

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
"I wish you could go with me, too," Lydia says. "And I wish that our paths hadn't diverged this much either. When I got involved with the Justice League Dark I thought it'd be something I'd do in my off time. Just help out here and there when I can. I certainly didn't expect..." she flails a hand, "this."

"I realize how little time I've been spending with you," she says sadly, "and it pains me. It's hard to balance this life when the fate of the universe rests on your shoulders." She's silent for a moment. "Why did it have to be me?" she asks, sounding small. "Six months ago I was just some English teacher who fell in love with a very beautiful mutant terrorist who was doing her best to reform. She leans up to kiss Raven on the jawline. "How did I go from that to this?"

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Mystique tightens her arms around Lydia, pulling her in close and kissing her neck lightly before whispering, "Because you /are/ that good Lydia. You were meant for this, even before you knew it. I could see it, why do you think I was drawn to you? You have an inner strength that matches your beauty, and even when you stumble and fall, you pick yourself up and keep going."

Leaning back she looks into Lydia's eyes, then reaches up to brush her fingers through her hair. "You've always doubted yourself, doubted what you're capable of, doubted what you were meant to do... I have never once doubted you."

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia stretches her neck out to facilitate the kissing. She nods along as Raven speaks. She knows what she's saying is true, somewhere deep inside, despite that little niggling voice that tells her otherwise. She doesn't argue. She just accepts it. How could she argue? An archangel and a goddess has told her as much as well.

She looks back at her lover with her strange golden eyes. You don't drink a Seraph dry without it changing you in some manner. "Just like I've never doubted your intent to reform. I saw the capacity of doing better... /being/ better within you. The strive to become a better person despite all that you had suffered." She reaches up to caress Raven's cheek in the palm of her hand. "It takes strength to do that, and courage."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Such a lovely neck, it has to be kissed again, then nibbled a little. Mystique is more then willing to oblige in that, just a few little nibbles before she sits back again. It was easy to turn the night into a trip to the bedroom, but not yet.

"There's something you should know, though I'm sure you already know it," she says softly. "When I first committed to the idea of changing, of trying to be better... I wasn't entirely sincere. It wasn't until I was actually /in/ the Justice League moon base that it hit me. When I saw Superman, Captain Marvel... the Shi'ar attacking their base, attacking /them/... it all just slapped me in the face."

She tilts her head a little, "All of my life I've wanted mutants to be at the top, the ones making the call, the rulers of this world. I thought that was the natural order, that humans were beneath us, that their cruelty was completely out of fear of losing the war to us. As I watched Superman, an alien for fucks sake, fighting for humans, for the earth as a whole... something inside me... snapped. Or maybe it unsnapped, I don't know. I just know in that moment, I knew I had to change."

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Closes her eyes and enjoys the neck nibbling. There's something about that part of the area that's become more of an erogenous zone for her since she'd been turned. Who'd have thunk it. She lets out a little whimper of displeasure when it stopped.

She purses her lips at Raven's confession. "I knew that you still wanted mutants to lead, that we're the next step in evolution for the human race, and to some extent I agree. I don't think that we're /destined/ to lead, but I think that we /can/. We can be better than humanity and show them how it's done, and I think that on some level, you knew that."

She chuckles, "From what I hear, Superman tends to bring out the best in people, I'm glad that he helped bring out the best in you."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
A slight smirk plays at Mystique's lips. "He treated me like shit," she states bluntly. "Before the Shi'ar arrived, he and the others still assumed I was just doing some sort of scheme. It wasn't anything he said, no... he can go to hell for the comments he made. It was merely the fact that he was trying to do right by Earth."

Reaching up again she moves a curl out of Lydia's face. "There are still times that I have to resort to manipulation to get things done, to get mutant haters out of places of power, and sometimes even still I have to arrange for those people to be removed permanently, but it's not the immediate go-to every time now."

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia scowls. "That's disappointing," she says. "I would have thought better of him." She lets out a long sigh. "I hate that not everybody sees what I see in you that they're not even willing to give you a chance. Everybody deserves a chance at redemption."

"I know that you have to sometimes do unpleasant things," she says. "In an ideal world we wouldn't have to resort to that, but, we don't live in an ideal world, and you do what you have to do."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
It wasn't possible to love Lydia any more than Mystique did at that moment. She had been truly worried to tell Lydia that, it was something she'd been thinking about for a long time. The moment it all became real in her own head.

"Lydia," she finally says quietly. "Some people can't and shouldn't forgive me for the things I've done. I'm a master manipulator. I know how to make people believe anything I really want them to believe. I've done it before, so of course they're going to stay leery of me. It may take more than a life time for some of them to see the truth."

She places another soft kiss on Lydia's neck, perhaps one little nibble. "So long as you believe me, that's all I really give a fuck about."

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia sighs in pleasure, and reaches up to caress Raven's head as her neck is nibbled on. "I swear. If this is some kind of evil master plot to get a pretty mutant woman to marry you, then I'll chase you to the ends of the earth to exact my revenge." She turns her head to interrupt the nibbling to give Raven a deep kiss. "And then I'd marry you anyway."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Mystique wiggles her brows as she licks her lips, watching Lydia's eyes. "Damn, you figured it out. It's all been an elaborate act to get you into my bed, repeatedly, then after exactly a year, put a ring on your finger and marry you." Her hand creeps slowly up Lydia's side, the destination obvious.

"I'm pure evil," she then whispers, leaning forward to bite along Lydia's neck to under her chin, then moves to kiss her with passion and love mingled together in one.
