Bette's Birthday Bash!
Date of Scene: 05 April 2020
Location: The Strait Lace Steakhouse - Hellfire Club
Synopsis: Bette's birthday bash! Carrie, Stephanie, Gwen and Zatanna all gather to celebrate over dinner at the Hellfire club.
Cast of Characters: Carrie Kelley, Zatanna Zatara, Gwen Stacy, Stephanie Brown, Bette Kane

Carrie Kelley has posed:
If there was any reason to go to the Hellfire Club, a 21st birthday was definitely it. While Carrie herself wasn't that age yet, along with Stephanie, it did mean going to one of the eatery locations in the club and not the outright 'party spots' meant for over indulgence in drinking. The reputation of the steakhouse was just as grand as the rest of it though. An invitation had been sent out to try and gather as many as possible offering to cover costs for those who couldn't afford courtesy of being a Wayne adoptee that had rarely if ever used her 'allowance'.

Carrie's dressed in a semi-casual cocktail dress. Nothing with sequins or beads or anything too fancy; just a nice classic red bodycon dress and heels with her hair swept up in a french braid. She's already seated at the table with menu in hand perusing it while waiting for everyone to get settled in.

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
If it's one thing that Zatanna wants to do, it's spoil Gwen a little. Since her 'synching' with this universe, the sorceress hasn't had a chance to take the young woman on a night out -- and Carrie's invitation is a great reason to go out. Not just to enjoy dinner with her and others, but to give Gwen the chance to meet others that may be members of the Birds of Prey soon.

Dressed in a snappy little bandage dress that runs vertical down her chest, lace panelling keeps things modest. It ruffles down to just below her knees along with a strappy pair of heels that click along the floor, she carries a small sequined handbag, the oldest of the group at the moment. "Carrie, nice to see you again!" she greets with a smile, and air kisses for the redhead. "Have you met Gwen yet?"

Gwen Stacy has posed:
A night out was just the kind of thing Gwen needed.

When she wasn't costumed up she was holed at Shadowcrest trying to get her life back in order. Putting some kind of methodology to her world turned upsidedown, so when Zee had said they were going to have dinner with some friends, it was as good as gold to the 18 year old universe refugee.

She's wearing a high necked white sleeveless see-through top over a black bra and knit white skirt on white heels, hair pulled over to the right side from the shaved left side of her scalp. She walks easily, grinning as she's introduced and reaching out to offer Carrie her hand once Zatanna has done so, "Nice to meet you. Gwen Stacy."

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie Brown had to have explained to her what exactly the Hellfire club was. Her expectation at hearing the name was it some rave-style dance club with some sort of demonic motif. She arrives with Carrie, having taken the HyperLoop up from Gotham. Steph is wearing a black pair of pants with dark heels, and a black top that leaves her shoulders bare and has a neckline which is low but covered with a black semi-transparent material.

"Wow, Carrie. I mean, wow," Stephanie says, doing one of those 360-degree turning walks as they enter and she gets a look at the place. "I think it might take my college savings to pay for a decent steak in here," she whispers to the redhead. Stephanie seems to be in a very good mood today. "So who all are coming besides Bette?" she asks, when Zatanna and Gwen approach and at least partially answer the question.

Stephanie just smiles while the greetings are given, and then she'll give a little raised hand and throw in. "Stephanie. Nice to meet you," she offers to both Zatanna and Gwen.

Bette Kane has posed:
People are supposed to be ontime for their birthday parties, or dinners. It is possible that Bette got here when Carrie did, but she isn't sitting at the table when the others start to arrive.

After a little while the blonde comes back towards the table, moving a little quickly towards where Carrie is sitting, dressed in a simple red dress with a flared hem that hits about mid-calf and a pair of flats instead of heels, "You've got to see the bathrooms..."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley chuckles a little at Stephanie's own reaction though she had to admit it was quite the place to look over. "I've been here once before. I'm a Legacy member until I'm 21, but I don't really often have occasion to come here. I thought it might be nice for a change though. Every once in awhile it's nice to be fancy."

When Zatanna approaches with Gweyn, the ginger gives a quick shake of her head. Placing one hand on the tabletop she half-stands to reach over and offer her free hand to greet the girl. "Haven't had the chance yet. Nice to meet you, and thanks for coming."

Another litte chuckle is offered as she sits back down. "I've got you covered, Steph. Bruce isn't going to begrudge us a nice meal out on the town." Then, finally Bette shows up earning a broader smile at the mention of the bathrooms. "Yeah? I haven't been in them here. I'll have to take a peek later."

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"Ah, I figured I'd cover and write it off as a business expense later." Zatanna teases as she waits for the greetings to go around, the sorceress smiles to Stephanie. "Nice to meet you, Stephanie. I'm Zatanna, this is my beau, Gwen Stacy." she offers in wait of greetings as Bette approaches the table. "This is the birthday girl?" she asks in amusement as she waits to take her seat as the others settle and sits down next to Gwen.

"My father was a close friend of Bruce." Zatanna offers in way of explanation to how Zatanna knows the Waynes already. "Though normally I spent more time visiting with Dick when I was younger." She rolls her eyes at that before she laughs. "But it gave me a chance to learn about the rest of the family as well."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Hey." Hand up greeing Carrie again, then Stephanie with an easy grin, and finally Bette. "Is the food good here?" She knows not what she asks. She couldn't possibly know that each cow is individually selected and raised from birth by hand fed non-GMO meal with an adoptive family so that every single cut of meat tastes like a loving christmas bathed in buttermilk born of thine cows own teet.

The poor girl.

"I'd have been happy with a McRib. Do you think Mister Wayne could McMake them bring back the Mcrib McPermanently?" Curiousity is important when surrounded by lowkey American Royalty. "I hope they do a sing along happy birthday sitch..." Turning in a small circle, "But from the look of the joint, they twerk the whole time in thongs.."

Sliding down into a seat beside Zee, hand across herself gripping the Sorceresses upper arm.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie has spent most of the last year on the outside looking in when it comes to the the Wayne progenitor that Carrie mentions. She probably still doesn't at all take it for granted given how recent changes are. But she doesn't comment on it, or let it show if she still has any doubts there. Just gives Zatanna and Gwen warm smiles of greeting as they are introduced. "Nice to meet you both," she offers in a friendly tone.

And the same is given to Bette as she arrives. "Hey there, it's the birthday girl," Stephanie says. She's got an envelope that she's put a ribbon around to make it more festive which she gives a little wave to get Bette's attention to it before passing it over. "Happy birthday," she says with a grin before moving to take a seat. "This is really something though. Like stepping into a movie or something," she comments, making it pretty obvious she's not used to such lavish decor.

Bette Kane has posed:
"Oh...wow...more people!" Bette might have missed that this wasn't just going to be her, and there are actually PEOPLE there. More then expected. When Steph waves the envelope at her she beams a smile at her, moving to give Steph a hug, "You shouldn't have!"

The other two get a quick smile as well, and she thrusts her hand out to them, "Hi. Bette Kane. Super nice to meet you guys...I'm hoping they bring a cupcake with a sparkler when they sing happy birthday."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley spreads her hands open in a casual shrug in response to Zatanna. "If you'd like to, by all means. I can't write things off as business expenses unfortunately. Never really got into the business side of the family. I mean, I could, but offices bore me to death."

Gwen gets a lopsided grin in response along with a shake of her head. "Sorry, no. Bruce might like to party but fast food isn't one of his usual vices. Heck he eats hamburgers with a fork and knife. We always tease him about it. Also..." She glances around at the well-dressed staff. "I don't think this is that sort of restaurant."

She settles back in her seat with a relaxed sigh as to lift up the menu again staring at the written selection of options. "No cupcake, but definitely cake. Oh, and they do make mocktails here if you want Steph. I checked. I might try one myself."

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"The places for that are upstairs." Zatanna offers easily and gives Gwen a sly smile. "We can go up there later." A promise, perhaps before she looks around. "It's my treat, for the birthday girl." the young sorceress decides as she gives Gwen's hand an affectionate squeeze as she settles in to look at the menu. "I believe they have the most amazing salads here." she offers.

When the waiter comes over to take their drink order, she glances over the menu. "2017 Inniskillin Riesling, please. You can leave the bottle." Taking out her membership card for the Hellfire Club, she presents it to the waiter. "Everything on my account, please."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Yeah, but it definitely /socializes/ with that kind of resteraunt." Gwen says to Carrie, very conspiratory in her tone setting with a shifty eyed glance around as if she's talking about those kinds of people.. But the ruse drops and she sits back in her seat with her shoulder right up against Zee's. Squeezing the womans hand in response. "Burgers with a fork and knife... seriously?"

"Huh... well a diet coke for me, please... and a lemon water..." She's not seen the price tag on the food, but she's basically freeloading at Zatanna's mansion anyways, so it's not like she's got grounds to get indignant about a hundred dollar slider, right? "So, happy birthday!" To Bette, all grins.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie Brown returns Bette's hug with a tight one. "It's not much, but figured it might make for a hopefully fun day sometime," she says. There's been a run of birthdays, first Dick and then Bruce and now Bette. And Stephanie struggles with what to get people who probably already have most things they might desire. And while she knows Bette, she doesn't know her well enough to manage an extremely insightful gift for today.

The menu is cracked open and examined as the others start to look. The prices on just the appetizers make the teen's eyes widen briefly, and she flips to the entrees to see just how bad they are. As the staff come by she says, "A coke would be fine, thank you." She flashes a smile over to Carrie and says, "I'll wait until I can have the real thing, I think."

Stephanie looks back at the menu, silently picking out a few options of different prices, but planning to wait and see what others get before deciding just which she'll order. If she saw the price of the bottle of wine she might fall out of her chair.

Bette Kane has posed:
"Why would you use a fork and knife on a burger?" Bette waves a hand, dismissing Gwen's worry about having to eat anything with utensils. It's possible that because she's grown up sort of around all this stuff she feels comfortable dismissing certain etiquette for things. Wait, didn't Carrie say Bruce was 'that guy'? Oh well. Clearly crazy behavior only runs in one part of the family.

"I'll have a Gotham Mule." Which is like a Moscow mule, but with dark rum instead of vodka. Then she reaches for the menu to pick it up, looking through it with a curious look before she sets it down, "So everyone is getting cake, right? And ice cream.." Because the birthday girl says so.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley spreads her hands lightly at the questions of Bruce's eating habits, though it does cause her to grin. There was a reason she brought it up after all: Got to tease the father figure. "He was raised by a British guy mostly," she points out with a chuckle. "Though really I think it's because he doesn't like getting his hands dirty." When everyone else starts to order she nods at Steph's decision, and then raises her eyes at Zatanna's. For all she knew that was a great variety. Wine wasn't her thing though--Given her age especially.

"I'd like to try the Citrus Fizz mocktail please, along with a glass of water. Half ice, no lemon please." Grinning over toward Bette she adds, "You'll have to tell me how that one is. I might try it when I'm old enough. I love the little hammered cups though, they're cute. And of course we are. What kind would you like? They've got the basics I'm sure but likely also some really odd combinations of cake."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
Gwen dips her head to Bette, "Right? That seems like a waste of a fork and knife /and/ a hamburger, but I definitely wasn't raised by a british guy. Just an irish cop." Said with a grin, flipping through the menu finally... eyes bulging practically out of her skull. "...These salads better provide some exceptional dinner conversation while they're being eaten..." There's a line people!

It's probably worth it, sure, but there's still a line!

"So..." Ordering a steak, since Zatanna is paying for it anyways, she slides the menu away and settles her hands in her lap. "I could definitely go for cake and ice cream. I'm fammished, I haven't eaten in like four hours."

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie holds up her hands in surrender towards Bette. "If you're going to force it on me? Twist my arm. Torture me until I relent? All of which I'm going to claim you did when I get to gymnastics practice tomorrow," the blonde girl tells Bette with a little grin.

She looks back at the menu and gapes. Stephanies leans over nearer to Carrie to say softly, "This one dish costs more than my motorcycle did." Of course it was close to junked and she had to do all sorts of repairs. Which probably meant, getting Tim Drake to do all sorts of repairs while she handed him tools. But still.

She settles on a chicken dish with goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes, and then a few other things that Stephanie makes a mental note to Google later. After placing her order, Stephanie tells Zatanna, "Thank you for the meal," and gives the woman friendly smile. "So, Bette, any other big plans for the birthday?"

Bette Kane has posed:
It's a steak house, which is what Bette gets. With garlic butter, purple fingerling potatoes and fried kale chips. Totally healthy. Not a salad in sight for her. Then she leans up to settle her elbows on the table, her chin settling on her hands, "Then we'll have ice cream and cake after this. Lots of both, and everyone can blame me for being sluggish and gross feeling tomorrow."

She seems okay with this, all told. As for what KIND? She has no idea, and Carrie gets a helpless shrug at that before she answers Steph's question, "No plans. Probably head home after this."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Time to order? Of course Carrie knew exactly what she wanted. The New York strip with herb butter and morel mushroom compote, fondant potatoes and a watercress mini-salad. A nice little combination of items that would equate to a decadent and delightful meal. She sits back plucking up her mocktail to take a little sip only to let out a sigh. "Not too surprised, I've seen your bike," she teases Steph back with a wink toward her friend. "But yeah. You do pay for quality here. Among just paying for the location," she has to admit with an upnod of her chin to indicate the restaraunt itself.

"Since the birthday girl isn't sure about what cake, I think we ought to try the mirror glaze cake they serve here. I've heard it's good... Plus even though I like cooking, I could *never* get that glaze thing right so I'm curious." Grinning at that she adds, "And they do make homemade vanilla icecream with Fiji vanilla beans."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"I was hoping for half naked twerking girls, if I'm being /perfectly/ honest..." Gwen says under her breath, but plenty loud enough for the table. Fidgeting with the bottom of her net-shirt, "Probably have to pay extra for table service like that though." Both shoulders jerk upwards, eyes dished out across the table in a little turn. "Oh man, I love vanilla bean icecream... with little mint chocolate shavings topped with caramel cream sauce..." If she weren't in mixed company, she'd probably start drooling.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie Brown didn't even know the place existed, let alone having heard about their desserts. She looks from Carrie to Gwen and then back at the menu. "Oh man. I'm going to have to run so many laps to burn this off," she says. Then adds, "So worth it."

Truth is she'll probably burn it up on patrol tonight, or training with Barbara. That in mind, Stephanie nods and says, "Those work for me. How about you, birthday girl?" the blond asks as she flashes a warm smile to Bette.

Stephanie puts her menu away after placing her order, and then picks up her Coke to take a sip. "I kind of love my bike. I know, other people just see rusty Yamaha. But me? I see... freedom," Stephanie says, the last word uttered with a far away, dreamy look before she turns back to the table to grin.

Bette Kane has posed:
"Glazed cake and fancy vanilla ice cream? Ok." Bette replies with a laugh, "That sounds pretty good to me, although I'm not sure I really understand what the difference between vanilla beans is."

Gwen's comment about half-naked twerking girls gets a baffled look from Bette, then she laughs. It's an uncertain laugh, one that shows she's not sure if Gwen is serious or not. "Yeah...not sure that comes with the bottle service."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley blinks a single time as she watches Gwen bemoan not having what she'd hoped for here. A little frown tugs at the corner of her lips, and she shifts uncomfortably in her chair giving a glance off to the side. At least the tables weren't too close together for potential eavesdroppers. "Ah... Think that joke's gone a bit far," she points out with a light clearing of her throat. Since when did she have to be the responsible adul--Oh, wait. Pretty much always. "The icecream is really good and I'm sure they can get you any topping you'd like," she assures with a softer smile as the topic turns toward slightly less risque areas.

Lightly fistbumping Steph's shoulder she mumbles, "I get it, doesn't mean I'm not gonna tease." Her attention shifts back to the birthday girl then with a broader grin. "So I haven't really had the chance to catch up much. How do you like being back in Gotham? Getting settled in okay? I still need to get you in touch with that friend I mentioned."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
Gwen grows a little quiet herself, rubbing her palms together with a slow glance around the table. She looks a great deal less confident without Zatanna there to bolster her courage, "right.. sorry.." Murmuring, blue eyes dropping down to look into her lap.

Bette Kane has posed:
"You're fine." Bette assures Gwen with a shake of her head, honestly looking like she really does feel that Gwen is perfectly okay. Jokes, seriousness and all.

Then she shakes her head at Carrie, "I haven't really moved back just yet. I've got until the end of May before I graduate, and I'm supposed to be staying on campus still. But..." Bette smiles, lifting her shoulders, evidently wordlessly indicating she's probably managed to get around some of it.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley blows a puff of breath out to get her bangs out of her eyes. It was a habitual gesture and not so much a necessary one. "Sorry, Gwen. I've got around four brothers so I usually have to be the one that minds my manners. This is a fun occasion. I should just relax." A rueful smile is given, a bit guilty at apparently having upset the other girl. At least food would arrive soon so she could avoid being a stick in the mud again.

"Oh, that's good! If you need help with anything just say. Especially if it's moving furniture or something requiring heavy lifting. I can volunteer the boys," she jokes.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"No, it's alright. You're right, I'm just not really good at... this.." Gwen motions around the table, at the friends all just socializing and having a lowkey dinner, "I tend to make up for any discomfort I feel by joking. So..." Both her bare shoulders rise in a small shrug, glancing around hoping to spy Zee returning with the barest hint of a frown.

Though she does smell for Bette, because birthday girls don't get frowns. "Thank you, it's okay. She's right." Nodding to Carrie, "I got carried away... with Carrie.. ugh, okay even worse." Awkward, slinking down in her chair.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
"I know, right!?" Stephanie says of Gwen's self-defense mechanism. She reaches over to offer Gwen an official Stephanie Fistdap of Commiseration.

Stephanie glances over at a waiter carrying a big tray with dishes on it. "Oh this might be us," she says excitedly. Only he drifts on past to the next table, setting up the tray onto a little collapsible table and serving it up. "Oh, that looks good. Maybe I should have got that instead," she says of a pasta dish.

The blond girl turns back to her table. "So what will you be doing after graduation, Bette? Will you be looking for something yourself, or doing some family business?"

Bette Kane has posed:
"I get it..." Bette replies with no small amount of empathy when it comes to making up for discomfort with jokes, "You couldn't possibly tell worst jokes then some of the guys at school. It's like you put guys in uniform, hand them a gun, and they all think they are Private Joker from that movie."

The potential arrival of food is watched with eagerness, but then she slouches back, "I was considering just going to Gotham University for graduate school. I don't want to actually go into the military, even though I could once I graduate. I also don't know that there's much family business I'd be any good at."

An amused smile is offered to Carrie, then she winks at her in an attempt to put her at ease. Or something.

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Somewhere in all of this, Zatanna went to powder her nose. As she was adjusting her makeup in the mirror, she noticed a small glimmer in the glass. Looking closer, the sorceress noticed a small fragment -- no a creature. It was holding up a help me sign. One magic spell later, and Zatanna found herself in a universe made of glass where there was an adventure, and somewhere in all of that, her dress got ruined, so when she came out back in the bathroom, she landed with a splash in the sink on the counter and looked up at the woman that was fixing her makeup and smiled nervously. "You might need a little lest rouge!" she offered quickly as she waved a hand over herself.

It's for that reason that when Zatanna comes out of the bathroom, finally, she's in a totally different dress, the mirror like substance wrapped around her as she returns to the women at the table. "Sorry for taking so long." she manages sheepishly as she moves to retake her seat.

https://tinyurl.com/r5kzuh9

"Have we ordered dinner yet? If so, I can catch up with dessert." she offers pleasantly as she moves to take Gwen's hand again -- yes she made sure to wash her hands first. She's not a monster after all.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley can only duck her head with a little grin at the talk of being awkward. "Oh, yeah. No I get the joke thing. I'm just used to far, far worse jokes..." And then Gwen comes up with one about getting carried away which earns a little snort of laughter. Pointing in Gwen's direction she blurts, "Like that. My oldest brother is *the* worst punster. I'm sure Zatanna would agree."

When the 'almost' food delivery comes she glances over watching curiously. "Ah, ours will be better. Because we'll get to eat it."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
One would think that dating Zatanna Zatara is full of moments like this. Sorceress heads to the bathroom in one dress, returns in a completely different dress, likely with a story to tell... but the same could be said too for someone dating Ghost Spider. Head off to take a twosies and suddenly you're fighting a guy in a rock costume calling himself ROCKSLIDER because he lacks the usual level of villainous creativity to churn out those fantastic monikers.

So when Gwen glances up at the reflective dress that looks like it might well be made out of a mirror, there's barely even a glint of surprise. Par for the course. They'll talk about it later. Right now there's a hand to hold, and courage to feed off of.

"Sounds like your older brother and I would get along swimmingly. If he's one of Wayne's boys, I probably already know him, honestly... Dick?" Flicking blue eyes around the table for confirmation.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie Brown looks over at the very beautiful Gwen Stacy for just a moment and then lets out a breath and looks back to Carrie. "Shoulda figured," she says. Dick knowing a beautiful girl. Pretty much fait accompli that would be the case.

Stephanie peers over at Zatanna's new dress. "Huh," she says to herself softly. Her inner monologue wants to add aloud, "See Batman, I DO notice subtle details," but thankfully she manages to stifle that one. A rare win for the inner voice filter.

"Ooo, there's another one," she says of a waiter with curly brown hair and a nice smile. He comes over with a tray, setting it on a little folding table and then begins serving up dishes to everyone.

Bette Kane has posed:
"Dick." Bette can confirm that, at least. Then she gives the returning newly changed Zatanna a curious look, also in the Steph category of noticing subtle details. But she doesn't ask.

It is impolite to ask, anyways. But also they are being served, finally, so she just smiles and waits until the waiter is gone, then wonders, "You think we can convince everyone to be there for a graduation party?"

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"Yes, Dick. He's entertaining." Zatanna is going to leave it at that except to add, "He's a lot like his foster father at times." With that, she's settled back in as she glances over her shoulder. "Are we checking out guys for Stephanie to ask out?" she asks curiously as she finally gets a chance to enjoy her wine and takes a satisfying first draw from it.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley lighty clears her throat when it's obvious everyone knows which brother she had been referencing. Though perhaps for reasons other than his punny sense of humor. Thankfully she's saved by the dinner tray, and glances over toward it with a smile. At last until Zatanna asks that question. A look of confusion flits her way before her head shakes lightly. "I think Stephanie's boyfriend might complain about that," she points out with a wry grin only to glance up at the waiter when he places her plate down. "Thank you." It's instinctive. She just does it.

She does wait until everyone has a plate in front of them before gesturing to Zatanna, "You were looking at a salad weren't you? I'm sure it wouldn't take them any time to put one together for you."

"Oh, and before I forget..." Her glance slides back to the waiter apologetically. "For dessert we'd like mirror glazed cake and some of the house vanilla icecream please. All around."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Soo...." Gwen listens to everyone round robin assuming Steph needs a date until Carrie sets the record straight... Blue eyes fix upon her, "We're looking for /you/ one?" Raised brow, mischievous grin firm in place as she shoulder bounces against Zatanna, "I got you a cranberry and almond salad with balsamic vinaigrette..." Glancing up sidelong at the newly clothed sorceress.

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"Aha." Zatanna offers, but when Gwen points out that she ordered for her, the sorceress grins. "Thank you, love." she offers to her warmly, an affectionate press of Gwen's hand as she considers the situation. Then she adds. "Before I met Gwen, I had an offer for dinner from Danny Rand, the CEO. While I turned him down, I'm sure I could put in a good word?" she offers to Carrie.

"Though we should be asking about Bette, should we not?" she asks curiously with a playful smile.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie gets a sheepish look. "Yeah, my success in the dating world could be the subject of a documentary. Not one of the good Netflix ones either. More like a Learning Channel one that comes in sandwiched between 'Failure Is An Option' and "The Monster Inside Me'," she quips.

Though there is a hint of a smile showing afterwards as she admits, "Yeah, kind of... found someone. Hopefully. Really nice. Cute. Soccer player. Has abs that you could do laundry on," she says, giving a playful roll of her eyes and a grin at the last part.

Stephanie eyes the waiter as he retreats with the tray. "Though he is good looking," she says, giving Carrie an encouraging look.

Bette Kane has posed:
"And coffee." Bette chimes in when Carrie starts to put in for the dessert order, making sure that they are aware that this'll be one of those proper situations where coffee is also had after dinner.

Then she glances at Zatanna, blinking faintly, "Ask me about what?" She was not actually paying attention to the conversation about finding people dates. Then she glances around at the table, her brows lifting, "Who are we talking about?"

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley almost instantly turns red-faced when the topic of potential dates turns to her. Moreso when Zatanna makes her suggestion, and then Stephanie encourages her over the waiter. Ducking her head down to hide her face in a hand she mumbles, "Yes he's cute," quietly in response to Stehpanie before taking a long, deep breath. That was the problem with being a genuine redhead: Blushing was not something you could hide easily.

"At least you've *been* on a date before, Steph." Lightly clearing her throat she risks dropping her hand away to glance over at Bette with a weak smile. "Talking about boys, mostly, and finding dates. You're single too, right? You know what it's like."

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"Just never date mages, we're nothing but trouble." Zatanna offers playfully, a grin as she gets her salad and looks down at it. She tops off her glass, and smiles between Carrie and Bette. "But we can keep an eye out, definetly. Gwen might know a few guys as well." It's a subtle suggestion. She knows all them single spiders, right?

"Wait, Carrie, you haven't even had a date??" she asks, incrediolous. "You are a perfectly cute young woman. You shouldn't have any problem getting a date!"

Gwen Stacy has posed:
Gwen is mostly quiet when the subject of dating is brought forward. Widening and squinting her eyes systematically with a little glance around the table that is periodically broken up with a look back at anyone passing nearby to see if it's their food.

Or just a server to get a fork.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie makes a so-so gesture to Carrie. "Oh, you'd laugh if I told you of what our dates have been. Well the first few anyway. Let's see there was... having to cancel on me. Then, running into him by chance accompany Tinsley three days later. She's the queen bee-yatch of the gymnastics team. Yeah that one, I've told you stories. Though he realized what she was like and we ended up talking the rest of the night. Then there was lunch, up at the Imperium with that great view? And a guy across the skybridge pulled out a gun and nearly took a header but we talked him down," Stephanie says, exhaling to blow some blond hair back from her face and tucking it behind an ear.

"We did finally manage a normal date though," she says, with a small grin accompanying it. "So anyway, Carrie, if the Queen Dork of Gotham can finally manage a date, sexy girl like you should have no problem."

Bette Kane has posed:
"Oooh." Bette replies as she reaches for her drink, "Yeah, I'm single." She agrees before taking a sip from the drink, then she sets it down, turning her attention to picking up her utensils. A curious look is shot towards Steph when she describes her most recent dates, then she turns her attention down towards her food.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley plucks up her fork only to gesture, cutting it through the air with a 'fwip' at the turn of talk. "Nope nope nope. We are here for Bette's birthday, and not to talk about the fact that I have very intimidating older brothers. Plus I've been busy with school." And... other things that required a lot of her waking time for attention. That goes unsaid though as she dips her fork down to slice through one of her fondant potatoes.

"Well there we go. Bette could use a date too," she teases with a little grin, before glancing back to Steph to offer a shrug. "That sounds... Well. Memorable."

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
As she starts to dine, Zatanna feels a buzz from her phone. Glancing down at it curiously, the sorceress pulls her lips into a frown, showing the message to Gwen. "I'm sorry, there's something I need to take care of back at Shadowcrest." she offers as she starts to get to her feet. And she offers her hand to Gwen to help her to her feet, "Happy birthday, Bette, I hope we will meet again soon."
