Adolph Hitler was the leader of the Nazi Party and a member of the shadow cabal known as the Harbingers.

In 1924, Hitler was an aspiring political figure with a gift for passionate speeches. But his rabidly nationalist ideology appealed to Vandal Savage, the immortal shadow master. He saw in Hitler a marriage of charisma and intent that mirrored his own ambitions. Long-term plans set into motion decades prior would see fruition with Hitler's firebrand passions.

Vandal Savage encouraged Hitler from the shadows for years, covertly and overtly. Financial support for the Nazi party surged and many political figures turned to lend momentum to that organization. Savage's close ally Nathaniel Essex adopted a disguise as Dr. Joseph Mengele, and other Savage pawns and patsies infiltrated and boosted the Nazi party from within.

A critical moment came for Hitler as he was appointed Chancellor of Germany in 1933. The Harbingers introduced him into their ranks shortly thereafter. Savage convinced Hitler that their ancient ambition for a better, stronger humanity aligned with his goals, and promised to make Hitler into something more than human, as were the rest of the Harbingers.

The Lance of Longinus, a powerful and ancient relic, was delivered to Hitler. This kept him alive when he was exposed to the Terrigen Mists, a process with a high mortality rate. Clutching the spear, Hitler survived and became a 'superior' human-- a metahuman. His already prodigious charisma was augmented by the mists, as was his vitality and strength. In the space of a few years, the Weimar Republic became Nazi Germany. In 1939, he ordered the invasion of Poland.

The Terrigen Mists were not without consequences. Hitler's body began to rot from the inside, but the Lance would not let him die. He became increasingly more combative, suspicious, and deranged.

Fractures drove wedges in the Harbinger ranks. Hiraoka Kotaro convinced Hirohito to order the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, which spurred America into formally joining World War II. Dumb luck prevented the Pacific fleet from being crippled at anchor. The alliance with Lord Helspont broke down when the Nazis were unable to deliver promised soldiers to the Daemonites for host bodies. This was largely due to the intervention of the fierce clan of warriors known as the Sisters of the Coda.

When the Daemonites were forced out of their hosts, Hitler deployed the Terrigen Mists on the corpses of the dead Nazis. Legions of shambling, undead soldiers arose. Many broke loose, pillaging the lands of Europe for years. Others were incorporated into armies of cannibalistic zombies and revenants.

As the war marched on, Hitler's armies and allies abandoned him. His cunning chief of science, Johann Schmidt, broke his science division HYDRA away from the Nazi party to capture the lost Cosmic Cube. Morgana Le Fay stole Hitler's undead legions to invade Themyscira.

Hitler and Essex gathered their remaining forces and escaped Earth, retreating to the Nazi's hidden base on the moon. Essex tried to preserve Hitler at all costs, until the withered and rotting man was transferred into a crude cybernetic shell to sustain him as long as possible. In 1948, Hitler met his end when the Defenders attacked the moon base head on, and Diana of Themyscira took the Lance from his corpse.
