The Akan gods and goddesses are ruled by Onyame, goddess of the moon. Onyame is able to combine with the god of the sun, Onyankopon to form what is known as the Absolute. The Absolute is an extremely powerful entity even by the standard of the New Gods, but rarely leaves its home demesne.

Most mortal petitioners only deal with the minor gods, or "abosom". Unlike other deities, the abosom life span is totally dependent on the people that worshipping them, call for aid, or use them as intermediaries to Onyame or the Absolute. They cease to exist once someone who calls for their aid believes they failed them, but they also can be created by someone needing them. There are abasom who have lived and died thousands of times.

There is one abasom who never has been apart of this constant cycle of death and rebirth. Anansi of Ananse-- The Spider God, The Trickster-- a wise prophet spun his own destiny to give himself freedom. He has ascended into the Akan as a godling in his own right.

Thousands of years ago a vampire named Adze used the magic of the Darkholde tried to cure his vampirism by tapping into the energy that comes from the constant rebirth and death of abasom. The result was mixed. Adze can temporarily stay off his hunger for blood with palm oil and coconut water; however, when he does feed, he must feed on the blood of the innocent, especially children. Adze has gain the ability to transform into any object and to possess people. Once possess the people can his powers which has led to a small cult of wizards that willing get possessed by Adze to gain his power.
