Mac is a highly intelligent government field operative. He is a trained engineer and was an EOD specialist in the Navy. He is skilled at applied physics and chemistry and in adapting to crises and dangerous situations resulting in a positive outcome. He works for the Phoenix Foundation which is publicly known as a government think tank. He solves problems and generally makes the world a better place.

*1990 Born to James Angusson and Helen Angusson nee Hayes.
*1995 Mom dies
*2000 Dad leaves, Mac goes to live with his Henry Angusson Grandfather
*2007 Graduates High School, attends Rutger College of Engineering.
*2011 Graduates Rutgers with a BS in Chemical Engineering, joins Navy
*2012 Graduates EOD training, serves with distinction in Middle East, Europe and Pacific Rim
*2017 Mac defuses a bomb meant to kills Cecil Stedman, director of DXS. Cecil is impressed and offers Mac a job on the spot. Mac leaves Navy is recruited by DXS
*2021 Mac identifies a mole in upper echelons of DXS. The mole is ousted but in the process organizational security is compromised and all sorts of under-handed dealings by the top brass are revealed, rogue ops, assassinations, kidnappings of foreign heads of states, even off book monitoring of Capes, their friends and families. Mac is one of a handful or agents cleared of any involvement. He is transferred to Phoenix Foundation relocates to East Coast.

Adaptive:
Mac's adaptability is not some parlor trick it is inherent to who is. It is a survival mechanism. HIs Mother died, his Father left and he was raised by his grandfather who loved him very much but the upheaval had already done the damage. Mac is ready for anything because he expects things not to go according plan. He has been there when Murphy was having a bad day and he is never going to be caught unawares again. This is why he is prepared for anything.

Focused:
Mac has a laser focus. This can cause him to get lost in the details when doing things he enjoys but it enables him to concentrate and work out solutions in even in the most dire circumstances. Mac will hold to his precepts that there is a solution and that he can find it. He is able to concentrate while the bomb is counting down, the bullets are flying and his partners are losing the heads. He is the calm cool center of the storm ready to call the play and accomplish the objective. This level of imperturbability can come across as a little creepy.

Honest:
While lying is part of the job, Mac does not like it when he has to lie to his friends, especially close friends, When a close friend discovered Mac's real job after a deadly encounter with the Assassin, their relationship became strained, but when Stedman threatened to lock up that friend because he was a security risk, Mac threatened Stedman with quitting rather than have his best friend put away for life.

Introvert:
Mac is an introvert, normally keeping his feelings to himself and compartmentalizing to stay focused on the mission at hand. This enables him to work well under pressure and in Jack's own words, Mac's ability to adapt is not some gimmick he does, it's his survival mechanism, having lived through a lot of heartbreak in his life. He thinks logically and strategically when on missions, making him the brains of the operation.

Pacifist:
Mac is a pacifist by nature and prefers to take down his opponents non-lethally if possible. To that end, he does not use guns in the field, preferring to rely on his mind and environment to get him out of a sticky situation. He is not above killing to defend his team-mates, innocents or himself as a last resort as evidenced by his taking out a mercenary on a train by blasting him out of a door with a torpedo while the train was going at break-neck speed or taking out the goons with guns chasing he and Jack on a boat in the pilot episode, but it is nonetheless a rare occurrence.

Macgyverism:
Mac's adaptability is a survival mechanism. He has been through great heartbreak and trauma and seeks to use whatever is in his environment to his benefit. He has accumulated knowledge to aid him in this endeavor and has saved his own and his friends lives countless times. Mac knows how to solve problems how to phrase them so that they are solvable and to not only see all the possible permutations but focus on the ones specifically useful to his current predicament. These solutions may bend the rules of probability and stretch the laws of science but they are possible within these strictures.

Applied Physics & Chem:
This is Mac's art form, he is master of understanding the use and misuse of everyday items and how to combine them to get incredibly useful results. His knowledge of Applied Physics & chemistry is encyclopedic and the depth of his insight is astounding.

Cryptology:
Mac is an expert code breaker and is adept at creating codes. He understands the science and mathematics of cryptology and is well read on its history.

Driving:
Mac is a skilled driver having spent time as a race car driver. He is trained in defensive and advanced tactical driving. He has a CDL and can operate heavy machinery, large truck, construction equipment

Electronics:
Mac is skilled at understanding and repairing electronic devices. He is also extremely adept at ripping them apart and improvising spectacularly with the results.

Engineering:
Mac is skilled in all aspects of engineering but applied mechanics and chemistry are his art form. He has a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Rutgers College of Engineering with a minor in Applied Physics. His knowledge of chemistry, physics and engineering are encyclopedic.

Fighting:
Mac is a highly trained military combatant who has honed his skills against Navy SEALs and Delta operators.

Genius:
Mac has a genius level intellect (Who doesn't?). He is well read and scientifically versed. He knows advanced math, and can follow advanced scientific treatises. He has made significant contributions to research & development at the Phoenix Foundation. He is not a world altering intellect like Henry McCoy or Tony Stark but he is a good guy to have on your side.

Military Training:
Mac has been trained in tactics and general military and naval knowledge. As a member of the Special Operations community he has a top secret clearance. He has been trained in advanced survival techniques, Sere, basic life saving, orienteering, Halo, LaLo, Scuba diving, Small unit operations, and the such

Mulitiple Languages:
Mac speaks Spanish, Mandarin, Italian, Farsi, French Russian and German. He is also fluent in ASL, morse code and semaphore.

Navy Eod:
Mac spent five years in the Navy Explosive ordinance disposal unit. He is trained in scuba and airborne operations. The Navy EOD is the best in the world, and Mac adaptive abilities have made him a legend among them. He is trained in handling dangerous biological and radioactive components in addition to traditional explosives.

Outdoor Sports:
Mac is a skilled athlete. He can surf, kite surf, free climb, trail run, alpine and cross country ski, kayak, canoe and more. He grew up outside raised by his grandfather to be a skilled outdoorsmen.

Spycraft:
Mac has been trained as a spy. He has been a courier for dangerous materials. He is familiar with general spy craft, identifying and losing tails, dead drops. He is more of a George Smiley style spy than a James Bond.

Tinkering:
Mac is a skilled inventor and refiner of ideas both his own and others. He has helped other researchers at Phoenix to realize their vision and even improved some ideas to make them even more useful. HIs name is on several patents and he is ket member of the R&D team as well as an expert Field Operative.

Wilderness:
Mac is an expert at wilderness survival having grown up in the woods and been raised by his grandfather, he is a skilled tracker and hunter though he eschews firearms. He can set traps, pitch a tent, hike and climb. He can survive in the woods with few supplies living off the land. In the military he received training in extreme environment survival. Make can survive in the artic and the jungle but he is most at home in the woods. He could probably survive on an alien planet but let's not test that okay?

Phoenix:
Mac is one of Phoenix's top agents. He has the ear of the director and can call on the agency when in need for exfiltration or if he needs back up. He also has the authority to call in local and federal law enforcement and his Phoenix credentials should hold some sway with federal authorities as well.

Pockets:
Mac always carries paper clips, chewing gun, batteries, half a roll of duct tape; there are many useful items in his pockets and he always seems to have just the right things, within reason.

Swiss Army Knife:
Mac has a very nice Swiss Army knife. It is a top of the line product and has all the features one could imagine a knife having, except the death ray. It has a pair of pliers, hex socket, several screwdrivers, bottle and can openers, flash light, tooth pick, pen, awl, wire stripper, saw, scissors, large and small blade and many more things, it has the right tool for most occasions.

Computers:
Okay, Mac isn't bad at computers. But he's no programmer much less a hacker. He knows how they work and how to take them part, fix them and use their parts to do all sort of amazing things. But he is not skilled in their use more than your average non computer engineer. This is only worth noting in regrad to his towering abilities in other areas of science and engineering.

Enemies:
Mac has made some dangerous enemies, one of the best assassins in the world. a brilliant Bomber, a few Drug kingpins and some warlords. Mac has a way of unraveling the plans of bad people with worse intentions.

Human:
Mac is human, and while he is healthy and has a surprisingly hard head he can be killed in all sorts of way. He is squishy with a tendency to put himself in the line of fire.

Realism:
Mac has tended to deal with mundane issues rather than magic, aliens or super science. He works on a lower power setting than many super heroes and villains. Dealing with such threats can be a bit above his pay grade, but he does what he can. And there are always more normal sorts of problems that need addressing.
