Profile
Annie is an intelligent and cheerful young woman whose whole life is still ahead of her. She has a bright future as a scientist with STAR Labs and is looking forward to her new life in New York. Bringing her ladiback California lifestyle with her, she's ready for a fun time in the Big Apple, with a whole city of new friends at her fingertips!
Timeline
Timeline:
* 2003: Born and raised in Monterey, CA to James and Lilian Mei. James is a pro surfer turned artist, while Lilian is former USAF and a mechanical engineer of no small renown.
* 2003 - 2015: Annie grows up under the care and brilliance of her parents. Her physical interests includ softball, surfing, skating, swimming, and freerunning. Intellectually, she's drawn to the environmental sciences with an eye towards safe, renewable energy sources and strong, safer, renewable materials.
* 2008 - 2015: Annie is enrolled in York School in Monterey, a private school that is better able to keep up with her genius. She is an excellent, if bored student. Even her AP courses don't hold the sort of challenge she needs. Graduating early with honors, she also has letters in both track and swim.
* 2015 - 2021: Annie enters Stanford University, studying both Materials Science and Applied Physics. On receipt of her second degree, she is offered an internship at S.T.A.R. Labs in New York City to join their renewable energy program.
* 2021 - 2022: Having moved to NYC, Annie begins her internship, proving herself to be an invaluable member of the team. She assists with an experimental program attempting to harness solar radiation for conversion into replacement for nuclear energy.
* 2022: During a recalibration of the testing chamber, Annie is trapped inside when a failsafe glitches and she's directly exposed to a massive dose of solar radiation. She miraculously survives, and soon discovers that she's gained powers from the experience.

Personality
Courageous:
She isn't fearless, but she refuses to let fear stop her from doing what she feels is right. There's little she isn't willing to face down if a friend is at risk.
Friendly:
Cheerful and gregarious, Annie will introduce herself to strangers at parties and make friends with ease. She possesses a natural warmth and friendliness that tends to draw people in.
Hopeful:
Annie is an optimist, full of hope, and willing to embrace the coming future. She can always find that silver lining, and will share it with everyone she meets.
Loyal:
Annie learned loyalty from her parents, the importance of never breaking one's word. She doesn't betray confidences or trust, even to her own detriment.

Powers
Solar Radiation:
Due to her exposure, she is capable of harnessing the power of the sun. At least, a little.
Solar Balls - She can generate small balls of solar radiation that she can use as a projectile weapon, creating small explosions where they land.
Short-Range Teleport - Annie can merge with teh Solar Balls, travelling at high velocity for short distances. The range is limited to how far she can throw, and the teleport ends if the ball makes contact with any surface.
Super Durability:
Annie's tissues are much, much denser and resistant to damage. She can withstand anything up to and including small explosions (hand grenades/IED's).
Super Speed:
Annie is capable of running up to 30 mph as a result of the accident, and her exposure. As with her strength, when exposed to direct sunlight, she can sustain a brief burst of great speed, but it will leave her winded and needing rest.
Super Strength:
Annie is capable of feats of strength beyond human ability. She can lift about 3 tons on average. Direct sunlight can enhance that strength, allowing her brief but taxing bursts of strength.
Skills
Athletic:
Annie is a California girl in more ways than one. She grew up on surfboards, skateboards, rollerblades. Her parents encouraged her athletic pursuits, putting her into swimming classes, gymnastics, horseback riding lessons, anything that caught her interest. She's maintained those interests throughout her life, keeping up with them even now.
Driving:
While certainly not a professional, Annie has been driving since she was young. Go-karts, ATV's, Segways, motorcycles.. anything with wheels and a motor was fair game. She has her driver's license, and is even taking piloting lessons.
Science!:
Annie's first and truest love is science. While she has largely focused on applied physics, chemistry, and materials science, she dabbles in a bit of everything. Her attention has been focused on finding a lasting, affordable, renewable source of energy.
Resources
Family:
Annie's parents are still in Monterey, but their support (both emotional and financial) is only a phone call away. She loves them deeply and tries hard not to involve them in her heroic efforts, but they are aware of her newfound abilities.
Scooter:
Annie's prized possession, a custom built scooter that looks to be straight out of Fallout 4 (pre-bomb drop). The casing is created from a lightweight polymer that allows for the style without adding weight, a powerful electric motor that allows for a street legal ride.
Trust Fund:
Her parents have done well for themselves in their respective fields, and taught their daughter the value of money. Annie has a trust fund with a modest stipend, and the caveat of needing parental signature for withdrawls beyond normal living expenses until she reaches 25.
Weaknesses
Family:
That Annie's parents know of her alter-ego and powers is as much a weakness as a strength. They can be used against her, if captured. She loves her parents, depends on their support and trust.
Sun Exposure:
Because her powers are based on solar radiation, she does need exposure to direct sunlight in order to charge up. This is also a requirement should she use too much power at one time, Annie will need direct and prolonged exposure to sunglight to regain that energy.
Vantablack:
The substance created for use on spaceships, solar panels, and telescopes is also something that is an anathema for Annie. If trapped in a room of vantablack, it will absorb the solar radiation she's infused with, leaving her helpless.
