The Atlantic Starport is a joint effort by leaders of the nations of Themyscira, Wakanda, and Poseidonis, creating a surface-based spaceport welcoming facility. Its intent is to serve as an access point for those interested in traveling to space, but it is also meant to act as a first point of contact for the arrival of others from space, along with providing a line of defense against otherworldly threats.

Design and Layout:

The Starport is constructed in international waters approximately 250 miles from the Northeastern coast of the USA, in international waters. It features a "four leaf clover" design that follows points on a compass - north, south, east, and west.

The central area showcases gardens, fountains, and artwork from the three nations responsible for the Starport. Walkways lead to each section. The south "leaf" is a docking station with landing platforms for ships big and small. To the west are public rotunda buildings, containing restaurants, shopping, museum displays, and even a theater. To the east are government offices and research facilities for civilian space travel.

The north side features the Hall of Heroes, providing facilities and gathering space for various teams and groups that have aligned themselves with the Starport but who do not yet have large permanent facilities established. Each section features full accomodations that include meeting rooms, kitchens, lab areas, living quarters, and more. It is common to see various members of the Avengers, Titans, X-Men, the Justice League, SHIELD, and more visiting and making their rounds.

OOC Notes:

As of the opening of the Starport, it is not widely known either how extensive nor how technologically advanced Atlantis is, nor that Wakanda is similarly technologically advanced. This may change over time, but it should be assumed that the combination of Themyscira, Atlantis and Wakanda opening a Starport comes as a big surprise to most of the world. Given the non-aligned status of the three countries, the Starport is considered neutral territory, though the partnership has raised speculation as to whether these three poorly-understood nations are forming an alliance of their own.

Much of what is immediately apparent in the Starport is Themysciran. Most of the buildings are of Themysciran design, and there is a visible presence of Amazon soldiers guarding the place. This comes as little surprise after the Amazon army made an appearance during the Warzoon invasion. It is widely assumed that there are magical defenses provided by the Amazons and Asgard. Wakandan Dora Milaje soldiers guard the Starport alongside the Amazons, providing a small but fearsome land force that can be called in to deal with problems too big for the general security forces to handle. Themysciran sailing vessels patrol the waters around the base. General security and day-to-day operations are handled by privately contracted civilians trained specifically for their roles, working in monthlong rotations to allow for ample rest back on the mainland following their shifts on the Starport.

There is also a large hidden component to the Starport. Power is provided by an underwater Atlantean power station, which is well-hidden and heavily secured by Atlantean forces. The undersea area is patrolled by Atlantean gunships, which keep well out of sight of outsiders. There are hidden Atlantean Plasmit cannon emplacements, a Wakandan force-field generator, and potent magical protections provided jointly by the sorcerers of Atlantis, Asgard, and Themyscira. OOC NOTE! At this point, the extent of Atlantean and Wakandan power is not widely known, and is kept very secret. These facilities at the Star Port are not going to be revealed lightly, and are intended as a last-ditch surprise in the case of an existential threat to Earth. For general play, assume that the defenses of the Starport consist of a single powerful Atlantean Plasmit energy canon and a large battery of Wakandan missile launchers. The almost impenetrable Wakandan shields and the more extensive supply of Atlantean defenses should only come into play with staff agreement and ideally with the direct involvement of relevant characters.

RP Opportunities:

Civilians can access the Starport via sea or air travel. The dockyard receives regular shipments of material via light cargo craft. Tours trips are offered regularly so people not on official business can visit the starport.

Teleportation to and within the starport is mystically and scientifically directed to a dedicated (and secure) arrival zone. These wards and energy fields are complex and difficult to casually bypass. The Zeta Beam technology discovered by Hank Pym and Nadia Pym-van Dyne (and developed further by GIRL) is being integrated into the transportation hub. This technology is still in its infancy, and existing transport hubs exist only to locations in Poseidonis, Themyscira, and Wakanda. (Note: These are not yet installed, IC. This will be updated as RP progresses.)

The Starport is open to general RP, but players should be aware of certain things before running scenes here. Social scenes are of course welcome and encouraged. However, please keep in mind when running scenes at the spaceport that this is a high-security environment. While it's acceptable to view the general Starport security as standard forces of law and order, anything that will provoke a major response from the hidden security measures or force a change in policy or posture at the Starport will need consultation ahead of time. Remember that these are things that impact ongoing plot for the characters behind the initiative, and we ask you to be mindful of player consent. Be respectful, and don't break other people's toys without their permission.

Please contact Diana Prince, Donna Troy, Hippolyta, T'Challa, Arthur Curry, Namor, and/or Nadia with any questions or ideas you might have. The more, the better for the best ability to communicate.
