Azazel is several thousand years old, ranking as one of the earliest mutants. He is also perhaps the most powerful teleporter known. Banished to the Brimstone Dimension over 2000 years ago, he has recently managed to free himself after being deposed as the leader of the Neyaphem.

Timeline

Alexander the Great:
390 BC - 359 BC: Disguising his appearance, Azazel works his way close to the royalty of Macedon. Out in the world, Neyaphem and Cheyaraphem occasionally come to blows when they happen across each other.

359 BC - 336 BC: In his role as Pausanias of Orestis, he becomes one of King Philip's personal bodyguards. While Philip does conquer most of Classical Greece, his dreams of conquest are not sufficient for Azazel, who knows how much more of the world there is. Finding a kindred spirit in Philip's son Alexander, Azazel assassinates Philip to bring the young man to the throne. He sheds his persona as Pausanias, using magic to disguise a human as Paisanis and then teleports away, leaving the confused human to be killed as the assassin.

336 BC - 323 BC: Having known Alexander from birth, it is an easy matter for Azazel, once again in human guise, to become one of Alexander's closest friends, urging the young king to expand his empire to cover the known world. Alexander, already so inclined, does so. Azazel secretly uses the Neyaphem to overcome defenses that could have stopped Alexander's army. In this time, Azazel comes to admit that not all humans are useless, as he comes to like Alexander. Azazel is actually out in the world when Alexander dies.

323 BC - 320 BC: Azazel takes the place of Perdiccas, Alexander's cavalry commander. While history relates that he was killed by his officers after a failure to invade Egypt, in fact, the Cheyaraphem launched a full out campaign against Azazel's Neyaphem, ending with the banishment of the Neyaphem to the Brimstone Dimension.

Timeline:
1500 BC: Azazel is born in Mesopotamia. No information remains as to exactly when.

1400 BC - 1000 BC: Azazel starts gathering demonic looking mutants to take over the known world and raise himself to rule it. He has little but disdain for humans or even mutants whose mutations are not visible.

1000 BC - 500 BC: Azazel and his Neyaphem begin a campaign of terror in an attempt to conquer Mesopotamia. Despite their efforts, there simply are not enough of them to conquer and rule a large area. They have a few run-ins with mutants of an angelic aspect known as the Cheyaraphem, discovering that the blood of these mutants actually burns members of the Neyaphem.

500 BC - 390 BC: Using his ability to teleport, Azazel tours the known world, coming to realize that the key to conquering it is an army far more numerous then he has. Reluctantly, he comes to realize that the very humans he sees as a 'spineless disease of a race' are the key to conquering it.

390 BC - 359 BC: Disguising his appearance, Azazel works his way close to the royalty of Macedon. Out in the world, Neyaphem and Cheyaraphem occasionally come to blows when they happen across each other.

359 BC - 323 BC Azazel works his way into the counsels of Macedon and becomes friends with Alexander the Great.

323 BC - 320 BC Azazel tries to carve out a kingdom after Alexander's death, but the Cheyaraphem wage a war against the Neyaphem and banish them to the Brimstone Dimension.

320 BC - 1992: Azazel seeks methods for the Neyaphem to escape the Brimstone Dimension. His teleportation power lets him cross the barrier into the real world for up to a month or so. He often poses as one of the demonic powers such as Satan or Mephisto to make bargains with humans, using his magical ability to grant their wishes, thus channeling their souls into the Brimstone Dimension.

1992: Azazel meets Baron Christian Wagner and is introduced to Raven Darkholme, the Baron's wife. For the first time, he discovers that he has the capacity for love.

1993: She becomes pregnant with his child, but he discovers that the Cheyaraphem are close to finding him and leaves her so that she is not killed in the battle.

1994: Raven has a son, Kurt, losing control of her powers during the birth. She is forced to kill the Baron and flee from a mob of villagers, abandoning the baby in a well. Unknown to her, Azazel was keeping an eye on her and rescued the baby, entrusting him to Margali Szardos before being forced back to the Brimstone Dimension.

1994 - 2020: Azazel makes an occasional foray to Earth, where he hears of Warren Worthington III, whom he is convinced is one of the Chayaraphem. He fathers several more children, seeking a way to return to Earth full time. So far, all efforts have failed to allow him to return there permanently.

2020-2021: The Neyaphem finally lose faith in their leader, having believed for over 2000 years that he would find a way to release them. They rebel, attempting to kill Azazel and install Ophis as their new leader.

2021: Using his powers to escape the Neyaphem, Azazel teleports to Earth. Finding several impressionable occultists, he uses his mental abilities to convince them to summon him without any limits, which allows him to remain on Earth permanently.

Personality

Personality:
The Devil may wear Prada, but Azazel makes it look good. He's smooth, confident, and almost unflappable. There's another side to this picture though - he could not care less about most humans, and has been plotting for over 3000 years how to either exterminate them or enslave them. In his various adventures however, he has found that there are occasional members of the human race who are worth his time, such as his friendship with Alexander the Great.

And of course, he isn't a slavering murder machine. In fact, he's often quite charming, getting people to trust him and offering demonic bargains, fulfilled with his magic. Still, he's a fairly amoral creature, worried only about himself and those few he cares about.

Character Sheet

Powers

Durability:
Azazel is made of sterner stuff than humans, able to withstand blunt force trauma with mild discomfort and less actual injury than a human would suffer.

Energy Bolts:
Azazel can project both paralyzing and damaging bolts from his hands. The paralysis lasts 10 minutes at the most. The destructive bolts are roughly equivalent to a bullet in terms of damage, though it is energy and not physical.

Enhanced Agility:
Azazel's agility is far better than human, able to bend and contort his body in almost impossible ways. His reaction time can be counted in fractions of seconds.

Healing Factor:
Azazel can heal from wounds far quicker than a human would and is even able to regenerate lost body parts or organs. This ability will not get him back into a fight in minutes, but he will be active again in a day or two. This also prevents him from actually dying from wounds that would kill most beings.

Immortality:
Azazel has already lived over 3500 years and shows no sign of aging.

Metamorph:
Azazel can change his appearance enough to fit in among humans when he needs to, restricted to a human looking version of himself without a tail.

Micro-Suction Discs:
Azazel has a special adaptation on his hands and feet that allow him to cling to walls and ceilings and move along them.

Night Vision:
Azazel can see normally in the dark as long as there is some tiny amount of light, but cannot see in total darkness.

Prehensile Tail:
Azazel's tail can be treated as another limb, and is tipped with a pointed barb which can itself be used as a weapon. It is strong enough to support him hanging from it.

Teleportation:
Azazel is the most powerful teleporter known, able to teleport literally anywhere, even between dimensions (dimensional travel is TP only). He does not need to see or even be familiar with his target location. He can carry up to 7 people with him as long as they all link hands (Or other body parts, given his prehensile tail).

Will Bending:
Azazel can manipulate the minds of the weak willed (and his children), which he usually uses to set up small cults and the like. This also provides him a measure of protection against telepaths.

Skills

Acrobatics:
Azazel is amazingly good at acrobatics just like his son Kurt, a result of his flexible skeletal structure and several thousand years of practice.

Dark Magic:
Azazel is well trained in magic, having had thousands of years to study and practice. His style tends towards black magic, using it to empower those he makes pacts with. Those interested in his help, however, should remember that a deal with the Devil usually ends up very badly. He is actually able to collect the souls of those who accept his bargains, giving credence to the beliefs that he is some form of demon. For a time he even taught Margali Szardos after she inadvertently opened a portal to the Brimstone Dimension, which is why he knew he could leave his son Kurt with her. In general, he prefers to use his swords rather than magic in battle.

Languages:
Azazel speaks many languages, including a number of what are considered 'dead' languages.

Leadership:
Azazel is charming and charismatic. He is sure of himself and able to understand the strengths and weaknesses of those that serve under him as well as of his enemies. He has been the leader of the Neyaphem for several thousand years, and helped Alexander the Great conquer much of the known world.

Master Swordsman:
Azazel has studied with the swordmasters of many cultures and had taken their techniques and combined them with his abilities to become one of the best swordsmen in existence.

Resources

Safehouses:
Azazel has a number of boltholes on Earth, where he's stored the things he might need on his visits. Weapons, clothes, money, and magical components can be found here.

Swords:
Given that his preferred method of combat is melee, Azazel has a large sword collection. Almost every style of sword used in the past 3000 years can be found in one of his safehouses. His favorites that he usually carries with him are a pair of weapons made from some sort of obsidian from the Brimstone Dimension, which are as close as you can get to unbreakable. One is a short sword, the other a tonfa-like weapon, but with a blade in place of the club and coming to a sharp point on the shorter section forward of the handle.

Wealth:
Azazel has taken advantage of over 3000 years with access to Earth to lay in all sorts of wealth. Gems, artwork, treasures from many cultures and just flat out cash are all stashed away for his use when on Earth.

Weaknesses

Cheyarafem Blood:
For some reason, the Neyaphem are burned by Cheyaraphem blood, reacting to it like acid. Wounds inflicted by Cheyaraphem blood, or wounds that have the blood wash over them, do not heal at an accelerated pace, but rather at a normal human speed.

Neyaphem Coup:
Azazel has recently been overthrown as leader of the Neyaphem as he has been unable to free them from the Brimstone Dimension for over two thousand years. Should he encounter any of them, it is very likely that they have orders to kill him so that he does not return to take back his throne.
