Booster Gold is a superhero who makes sure his name is all over social media--he's known as a polarizing, but somehow charismatic, figure who seems to embody the celebrity status of being a hero as much as the do-gooder efforts of one.

Timeline

Timeline:
2442: Michael Jon Carter and his twin sister Michelle are born to Jon and Ellen Carter in Gotham City.
2446: Jon abandons his family to rack up massive gambling debts.
2458: Michael takes up football, hoping that he can clear the family's debts and bring his father home. This goal becomes all-encompassing after Ellen is diagnosed with a condition that required prohibitively expensive treatment.
2462: Jon Carter seeks out Michael, now a rising star at Gotham University known by the nickname 'Booster,' in the hopes of fixing games and making ridiculous amounts of money--profit for the father, paid treatment for Ellen.
2462: The scheme is exposed and Michael is expelled from school. The only job he is able to get is as a night watchmen at the Metropolis Science Museum.
2463: Having spent much of his time studying the historical displays on superheroics from the 20th and 21st centuries, Michael uses a security robot to help him steal a number of artifacts and activate a time-traveling device. The destination? The 21st century, where he can make tons of cash as a superhero.

Personality

Coward:
Despite the fact that he's bought into his own hype, Booster's sense of self-preservation frequently tips toward cowardice, causing him to make 'safe' decisions, to avoid confrontations that he's not confident about winning, and to otherwise put himself in the line of fire if he can't benefit from it (and if others aren't around to save him if needed).

Family Man:
While Booster Gold is an intensely selfish and self-obsessed individual, he does love his family just as intensely, and he's kept his identity a secret for the sole purpose of protecting them in the future. (There's an element of self-preservation here, too, but it's--perhaps surprisingly--not the driving force for this approach.)

Obtuse:
Booster doesn't have the strongest sense of clarity, wisdom, or interest in complicated or nuanced matters, especially when they're not focused on his interests or values. As a result, Booster's ability to read a situation is heavily contingent on others helping/ensuring/forcing him to understand and recognize what's going on.

Self-Important:
Booster Gold is a hero obsessed with his image and, accordingly, has bought into his own hype about what he's capable of, what value he has to the world, and why he's superior to others trying to make things better for everyone.

Skills

Combat:
While much of his training comes from football practice and college-level phys ed-class martial arts, Booster Gold has spent the last several years trying to develop his fighting abilities so as to hold his own in combat and to look good on camera/video doing so. He has a sprinkling of numerous arts, from krav maga to kung fu to capoeira to lucha. He's not necessarily an expert in any one of them, but he's not terrible, either--and against many criminals, that's enough.

Repartee:
Booster Gold's got the gift of gab, and he's frequently able to annoy and upset his enemies to a dizzying, if not incapacitating, degree simply by talking. Unfortunately, there is typically a lot of collateral damage here, as Booster annoys nearby friends and bystanders alike as well.

Self-Promotion:
Booster Gold's greatest ability is his adamantium-strength resolve to make himself a well-known celebrity. In almost any situation, Booster is able to figure out a way to better his situation--whether it's by stealing the spotlight from someone else, suggesting a way to make a corporate endorsement, or otherwise get his name on everyone's lips.

Superhero Trivia:
Thanks to a year spent as a night watchman in the 25th c. Metropolis Science Museum, and five years as a hero among his colleagues, Booster possesses a lot of (publicly available) knowledge regarding the abilities, habits, and enemies of numerous 21st century superheroes.

Resources

Legion Flight Ring:
One of Booster's most valuable possessions is his stolen Legion of Super-Heroes flight ring. The ring permits its wearer to fly at speeds of up to 100mph. Extended use of the ring has allowed Booster to learn to mentally command the ring even when not wearing it, provided it's in close proximity to his person.

Power Suit:
Booster Gold's costume contains advanced micro-circuitry that provides him with a few key abilities:
* Strength: Booster can lift up to twenty tons thanks to the suit's mesh reinforcements.
* Protection: The suit generates a force field around Booster's body that can be extended slightly (such as to protect someone he's carrying), rendering him invulnerable to most conventional weaponry. The field has the capability to protect Booster from a punch from someone on the level of Superman or the Hulk, although the circuitry would likely fry from the strain (and render itself inoperable until repaired).
* Energy Gauntlets: The suit can generate and fire bolts of kinetic energy powerful enough to burst through two feet of concrete.

Skeets:
Booster's omnipresent sidekick/companion is a 25th century robot named Skeets, a small flying entity that helps manage Booster's business interests, schedule, and public relations disasters. Skeets also serves as the major repository of information from the future--although his information is typically inaccurate, if not outright wrong, thanks to Booster's future not necessarily being the future of this universe's present.

Visor:
Booster wears a visor that provides him with a robust range of information on a heads-up display and integrated earpiece, from mundane information (current weather conditions) to GPS data to radio frequencies to electromagnetic spectrum scans and Internet search results. They can also magnify and enhance distant visual information.

Weaknesses

Business Acumen:
Booster is not a fantastic businessment, despite his skills at self-promotion. Time and time again, Booster's made decisions about how to build his empire only to see those decisions leave him in financial ruins.

Ego:
Booster Gold's self-importance is, unsurprisingly, a significant obstacle to his goals of becoming a well-known and well-loved hero. His ego makes it difficult for Booster to admit when he's wrong, to step aside from the limelight, or to praise others. Each of these tends to lead him to failure of varying kinds--and Booster often knows, deep down inside, that these failures are his fault, even if he'd never admit it to anyone else.

Identity:
Booster Gold keeps his identity a secret to protect his family in the future, even if 'now' may not lead to 'then'. He worries that enemies who might discover his real identity could eradicate his bloodline centuries before he--and the people he loves--are ever born.

Stuck In Present:
The time machine that Booster used to reach the present malfunctioned beyond repair upon arrival, making it impossible for him to use it again. Further, Booster's arrival in the present changed history itself; the future he arrived from is not necessarily the future that will lead from this current present. A side-effect of this is that a good deal of the information Booster has access to about the future (via his robot Skeets) is no longer accurate, whether trivially or significantly.
