Crystalia Amaquelin is the youngest daughter in the Amaquelin noble family of Attilan. Her high birth afforded her the privilege of wealth and comfort in the hidden civilization of Attilan. As a member of the Royal Court, she has long been known as a bubbly, free-spirited woman more interested in excitement and adventure than stuffy, serious matters. Few know her as a talented planetary scientist dedicated to protecting her people and their home.

Personality

Adventurous:
Crystalia isn't afraid of new experiences or new ideas. She embraces something that is outside her experience eagerly, seeking out the activities, places or people that are outside her background. She gets a thrill from exploring unknown quarters and going over that unfamiliar horizon.

Impulsive:
Crystal is a woman of action. She doesn't like sitting around, endlessly arguing about what to do. She leaps into action and figures out a plan as she goes. Spending hours trying to cover every possibility bores her to tears, and she is very much a person who wakes up early and seizes the day.

Insecure:
Under her bubbly surface, Crystalia holds deep insecurity about her value, abilities, and future. She grew up in the formidable shadow of her elder sister. Her parents doted so much in Medusa and sent her away so young that Crystalia really harbours doubts rooted in childhood. She holds tight to people who like her and gets down on herself secretly that somehow she isn't good enough. She takes rejection very hard.

Vivacious:
Crystalia brims with energy and bubbles with charm. She always puts her best foot forward, aiming to win hearts and minds through being so damned fun. She is an extrovert through and through, gathering much energy and happiness from being around others. She's the life of the party who always has time for her friends and loved ones. That kind of light attracts many people, partly because she is so friendly and upbeat.

Powers

Elemental Sense:
Crystalia is aware of all natural elements around her, even if she can't "see" them, like bedrock or subterranean water in pipes. She can detect and distinguish trace amounts of an element within a block of her in the city, and up to a mile under ideal circumstances in nature. The rarer or more refined the element (like kryptonite, uranium, or pure distilled water), the more clearly she can identify it from its surroundings. She can tell trace amounts of metal in parts per million in a river or detect the direction taken by a diluted deadly gas. This sense is always active and she cannot suppress it, but in its passive form, she feels the general direction, quantity, and identity of an element like people see colors or hear sounds. She has to actively concentrate to detect small or trace quantities, identify specific elements or tell them apart if they are similar (such as different gasses in a room). She can detect synthetic elements but may not be able to identify them or their characteristics without exposure.

Elementalism:
Crystalia can psionically control elements around her. Elements include inorganic, naturally occurring matter in a gaseous, liquid or solid state. She can affect wood but not a tree, or coral but not the living animals in it. Her range usually extends as far as she can see, typically around a block, though her range is much further under ideal circumstances.

Her power can change an existing element, such as dampening fire or enhancing its size, redirecting a breeze, increasing or decreasing temperature, or changing its attributes like the colour of a fire, smell of the air, or volume of a gas. She can shape an element, forcing it to assume a new size or volume that doesn't exceed its original mass or volume. She can work fire to look like a dinosaur or metal to stand in a pillar. Extensive sculpting of active elements is tiring, demanding her full attention. She cannot easily defend herself from attacks if sculpting complex liquids or gases. She uses air and water to form protective physical shields.

Crystal has the potential to manipulate two or more elements, but this rapidly tires her unless they are similar (like nitrogen and oxygen, or two liquids). She can create elements spontaneously by altering conditions, like creating ice by pulling heat out of water. She can invoke a handful of fire or a spring of water. These effects are not lasting unless she gives them a source. Her powers also include effects like producing blasts of wind, minor magnetism, producing air to breathe underwater, and improving weather in her immediate vicinity, about a mile radius.

Crystalia finds elemental manipulation taxing. Actively using her powers physically and mentally drains her. She needs to sleep and eat to replenish her energy. A solid hour of work requires four hours of rest, generally.

Flight:
By manipulating the air, Crystal can fly with excellent maneuverability even in trace atmospheres like the Moon. Her psionic ability manipulates air atoms to send her aloft and maintain her momentum. This control lets her levitate or glide. She can safely manage subsonic speeds, but the upper limit of her speed is unknown on Earth. She exceeded this on the Moon.

Inhuman:
Crystalia is a full-blooded Inhuman subjected to terrigenesis in childhood. She has the amplified abilities of her race. She has physical abilities exceeding those of a super soldier, like Captain America. She can run for hours or exert herself strenuously without experiencing fatigue. Her flexibility and agility exceeds the finest Olympian, allowing her to perform physical feats like running across narrow ledges or leap effortlessly between buildings. She is strong enough to throw a car or hold up two tons unsupported. Her reaction times are similarly enhanced to superhuman levels, though far from a speedster or Spider-person's skills.

Resistance:
Crystalia's mutation renders her very resistant to damage from naturally occurring or supernatural elemental phenomenon. Iceman's manifested ice, the Human Torch's fire form, or Aquawoman's water blasts will do much less harm to her body, since she can absorb or slough off the brunt of the attack. She is not immune, and concentrated attacks will hurt her in time if she didn't assert control over an element or shield herself. This defense doesn't extend to magic, force powers or other rare phenomena. However, she won't be automatically burned by a normal fire or killed by a random lightning strike. This power does not stop her from feeling pain or other side effects of exposure, like being trapped under a large rock.

Skills

Combat:
Crystal has been taught self defense by Karnak, and she knows how to augment her punches and kicks with fire, ice, and lightning. She has moderate combat skill in hand to hand, and she's an expert in defensive throws or feints. She really hates being hit.

Escapology:
Crystal is fairly good at escaping bonds, be it handcuffs or zip ties. Her fear of a coup led her to receive training from less savory guards who were willing to show her how to get herself free. She can deal with simple locks and basic digital systems, though she has neither the patience or inclination to learn more advanced techniques if she can just blow the door open.

Linguistics:
Crystalia is fluent in the Royal Attilan sign language used in the court, and in Kree.

Persuasion:
Crystal adopts a bubbly charm to get what she wants, and she is very good at reading a room to determine what levers to pull to her what she wants. Her real strength lies in building empathy to influence someone to do what she wants, but she can stage a doe-eyed appeal that's every bit as devastatingly effective. She isn't above hitting someone in the feels if she needs to.

Piloting:
Attilan has a lot of advanced technology and Crystal can operate flying vehicles, as long as they are smaller craft. She has no problem managing small planes or space faring ships. She does need time to learn the technology, but she's reckless and versed enough to adapt to small craft with ease. She doesn't have experience piloting anything that holds more than six people, though nothing stops her from learning.

Science:
Crystal has the equivalent of a doctorate in planetary science and xenochemistry, acquired in a technologically advanced culture that inhabits the Moon. She can hold her own in planetary science, geology, and exotic chemistry with the Earth's finest minds. Her innate understanding for the physical processes of the elements extends into her chosen field of studies. She has no trouble grasping atmospheric sciences, vulcanology or oceanography, even if the terms are a bit foreign. It's like telling a fish how to breathe water, she understands it deeper than science can explain sometimes.

Sculpting:
Due to her power set, Crystalia sculpts elements and shapes matter with her hands. She learned very young to express control through a physical analog, shaping clay or wood, and moving into much more exotic materials. She can create very delicate metal statuettes up to elaborate abstract sculptures from moving pieces, glass, and ice. She uses sculpting to relax.

Elemental Familiar:
Crystal was lonely for so long as a student that she contacted elemental beings as part of her studies. She eventually made friends with an earth elemental and built him a lasting body from the lunar regolith. She named him Haemus, and he takes the form of a dog about the size of a Labrador retriever. Haemus is purely made of rock, eats stones or dirt, and has an average intelligence. He can't speak without an elementalist's or psychic's assistance. He is considered her companion and loyal to her, but will protect himself at all costs. He is vulnerable to lightning attacks.

Family:
Crystalia has a powerful family at her back, most notably her older sister Medusa. Her parents are both active nutritionists for the nation, respected by their peers and willing to assist Crystal even if they're a bit distant.

Incomplete Records:
During the failed coup against the royal court, Crystalia's father secretly bribed an operator to modify her records on terrigenetic metamorphosis. This means no one in Attilan has a complete understanding of her abilities or how wide they extend -- in writing, anyway. Guards and professors know her talents, but the incomplete picture protects her against rebellious elements or the schemes of a madman.

Inhuman Royal:
Crystal has status as a lady of the Royal Family of Attilan. On Attilan, she enjoys all the privileges a royal cousin would, including a place to live in the palace, her expenses covered, and very little out of reach if she had reason. She can access the Inhuman database and library. Guards will defend her from threats. To other spacefaring races, she commands some measure of diplomatic protection or prestige. Messing with her means bigger fish might come along. This status is largely useless on Earth, where Inhuman presence has been hidden for centuries.

Weaknesses

Animals:
Due to Lockjaw's influence on the royal court, Crystalia finds harming animals very problematic. She just can't hurt dogs, even if they are attacking her. It would take a crisis to push her to that point.

Family:
Crystalia is devoted to her sister, Medusa, in the way only little sisters can be. Her love and loyalty are glaring weak points for her enemies.

Crystal has an unhealthy relationship with her parents in that she craves their approval. Her childhood "exile" to control her dangerous powers left her very lonely. She long felt if she was better, they would want her home. She strives to live up to their expectations, which pushes her to act extravagantly.

Inhuman:
Crystalia, like all Inhumans, has unique genetics distorted by Kree tampering millennia ago. This creates multiple weaknesses:

* Kree Enmity: The Kree hate their creations, and the feeling is mutual. They're likely to attack her on sight.

* Pollution Sensitivity: Crystal is heavily affected by prolonged exposure to pollution. If she's in a badly contaminated area longer than a day, she will start to fall ill, like she has a bad flu. After a month, she can be in real danger. In a normal city like New York, she needs to spend at least two days away in a rural area or the Moon to purge the pollutants from her body after a month's exposure.

Public Perception:
Attilan has long thought of Crystalia as flighty, bubbly, and generally more immature than her sober big sister. She fights against her public persona, as a spoiled royal who simply doesn't take life very seriously. She's no longer a party girl, but she invested so much time into building that carefree identity that it smothers her today. Part of the reason she's desperate to get to Earth.

Spoiled Upbringing:
Crystal was born part of the Royal Court. She may be the rebellious tomboy on the surface, but she never lived outside the privileged environment her rank afforded her. Her privilege shows in bad ways. She hates being hit, much less hurt, and loses her temper that anyone would dare. She's also naive about Attilan's dirty secrets (the alpha primitives) and similar ugliness on Earth. She never knew hunger, poverty, or lacking wealth or influence. She hasn't been tested by losing these things, but if she does, her reactions will be highly unpredictable.

Temper:
Crystal is hot-headed and impulsive, partly due to the strength of her powers and her royal role. She doesn't back down when someone gets in her face. Sober second thought isn't in her nature, like her sister has. Her temper can be very dangerous since it causes her control to slip, leading to her pyrokinesis running hot and uncontrolled. Other elements requiring finesse, like air or metal, simply don't do what she wants at all.
