Daemonite

Daemonites are an alien race from a distant part of the galaxy. Their natural state is that of hulking, large reptilian forms with predatory features.

All Daemonites are inherently able to convert their forms to energy and take physical possession of any biological creature with a similar nervous system. This is due to their homeworld's unique proximity to a dimensional rift that bleeds into the Astral Plane. Beyond the protection of their home Daemonites take on a translucent appearance and become somewhat incorporeal.

They have long been opposed by the Kheran race, who have technology and abilities that allow them to detect Daemonite infiltrators and expel them harmlessly from the host.

A Daemonite battleship was shot down by a Kheran colony convoy near Earth approximately 1500 BCE. Daemonite forces including their leader, Lord Helstrom, crashed into the planet. The Daemonite ship was destroyed. The Daemonites survived by hopping host to host for millennia, and the endless detente between Kheran and Daemonite continued against the background of humanity clawing their way back from the brink of extinction after Ragnarok.
