Damage Control

The Federal Department of Damage Control is an Executive-branch agency of the United States Government. It was founded in 2017 after Loki's Invasion, as part of an omnibus spending bill aimed at restoring order to New York City. The FDDC's primary task is locating, safeguarding, and removing potentially hazardous materiel of alien or unknown origin. Once the area is deemed safe, FDCC follow-on agents will coordinate with public and private construction crews to restore civic buildings and major historical landmarks to their original order.

FDDC agents are deployed as part of disaster relief efforts in areas impacted by alien, metahuman, or mystical incursions or incidents. Once items are removed they are classified and stored securely until they can be properly analyzed. The DEO has jurisdictional access to all FDDC warehouses and can order the transfer of any materiel or property to DEO custody. Other agencies such as the Nuclear Regulatory Agency may step in to transfer and store nuclear or radioactive objects.

The FDDC works frequently with FEMA and private charities to help speed up disaster relief by removing unsafe or hazardous substances or items. The FDDC maintains a small detachment of armed personnel to safeguard transport and storage of secured items.
