Tinyplot: Fortune and Glory

Jovian relaxed in one of his safe houses back in New York. Now that the idiocy about treasure hunt was gone, the nonsense that caused people to hunt him and the last of the idiotic chain of events caused by his doppleganger had finally faded away and he could get back to 'normal' again, whatever that was. Just as he settled down to a self cooked eloborate hamburger, there was a knock at the door. Grabbing a gun, Jovian moved to the door to see three gentlemen in suits.

"Mr. Anderson?" The one with the briefcase asked.

Oh come ON. "What do you want?"

"May we have a moment of your time?"

Jovian almost threw them out. Almost.

He let them in and had them sit down. He offered them beer or water, two accepted. Finally, after playing the 'host' he asked,"What do you want?"

"You won, Mr. Anderson."

"I what?"

"You 'found' the treasure. It was a test, you see."

"Come again?"

"We...allowed, certain individuals to think that the Nazca Cartel was the legitimate heir to the fortune that we control the interests of. This was a fabrication for which we duely apologize. It was a test, one which any number of candidates could have taken down. Only three did. Of those three, you led the charge. The other two will be...compensated. Indeed, they have seen to it themselves. One has the spoils of the Cartel and the other is able to continue their fight in their...fascinating way with the funds stolen from them. Which leaves us with you Mr. Anderson."

"Is this the point where you tell me I won the Golden Ticket?"

"After a fashion...on paper, you are a very rich man Mr. Anderson, of course, its not that easy. You can't lock up billions of dollars for a hundred years and turn it over with the flick of a pen, but for good or ill, your life is going to change."

"And if I say no?"

"Then we go to the next worthy candidate. I believe you have seen him in action, and I think that you will find that you likely do not want these resources in his hands..."

"What about..."

"The rules are very strict Mr. Anderson. Bane came in second. You either accept, or he gets everything."

Jovian sighed and said, "What do I need to do?"
