Gothic Lolita is an artificial lifeform (she prefers mecha) created as part of a secretive SHIELD project called Project Livewire, based on previous Life Model Decoy and Mannite designs. She is the heavy duty combat design of the group, utilizing hyperdense construction to give her immense strength and durability. She is not well known to the general public, and resembles a perfectly normal Japanese girl who prefers the gothic lolita style of dress...who weights over half a ton.

Timeline

Timeline:
* 1961 - Nick Fury, his brother Jake, and Thomas Davidson discover a piece of self-replicating technology that latches on to them and creates robotic duplicates, later reverse engineered into the first Life Model Decoys (LMDs)
* 1983 - Epidurium, a metal even rarer than vibranium or adamantium, is discovered by SHIELD agents, leading to extremely lifelike synthetic skin for LMD designs.
* 1999 - Nanowoven artificial lifeforms known as the Mannites are created by the United States goverment for use in covert operations. Semi-random germination is used in order to maximize meta-talent functions, but the result is visibly inhuman despite the successful creation of superpowered lifeforms. The project is abandoned after the first generation.
* 2005 - Project Livewire, the brainchild of assistant chief researcher David Jenkins, is founded by SHIELD to create a new generation of androids based on LMD and Mannite designs for use in deniable covert operations.
* 2007 - Six prototypes, one of which is Gothic Lolita, and four backup units are created. To avoid the new, more powerful units from going rogue (as had happened with previous LMD designs), they are programmed with complete loyalty to Project Livewire.
* 2008 - David Jenkins, believing the increasingly sociopathic goals of his superiors will turn his creation into nothing but mecha assassins, deliberately modifies the loyalty programming, and defines Project Livewire's goals as the destruction of similiar immoral, inhuman, or insanely dangerous quasi-governmental research projects. The six prototypes logically reason that only the Livewire units, which are completely loyal to Project Livewire's goals, can be trusted to carry them out. The actions of their superiors demonstrate they can and will undermine Project Livewire's goals, as humans do not have the same hardwired loyalty. The research staff likewise has the specifications of the Livewire units, making them a danger. As Jenkins intended, the mecha proceed to wipe out the entire research staff and SHIELD executives, terminating everyone with direct knowledge of the project. Jenkins dies wishing them well. The base reactor is rigged to overload, vaporizing the facility and everything inside it.
* 2009 - The Livewire units begin working their way down their list of targets, using a combination of direct and indirect action. After six months of operation, only five units remain.
* 2010 - During the cybernetic infiltration of a facility working with Sentinel technology, the Livewires uncover a lead on the "White Whale," an extremely illegal and mobile research facility using stolen SHIELD technology built into a helicarrier frame, and run by a nanotech AI hive mind based on Nick Fury. The Livewires immediately find a way to infiltrate. They are discovered, and all units save one are rendered inoperative, though they succeed in destroying the facility. Gothic Lolita is one of those, having been fired at Mach 5 into the ground via a railgun. The survivor, the unit's tech specialist Stem Cell, is able to recover the remains of all units and begins reconstruction.
* 2010-2015 - Gothic Lolita comes back online following a period of extensive repair.
* 2016 - Due to most of her compatriots still being disabled and under repair, Gothic Lolita begins independent operation, starting with the destruction of bio-mecha created with stolen regenerating mutant DNA samples at the AIM company Nu-Flesh.
* 2017 - Gothic Lolita loses contact with the remainder of the Livewires, for reasons unknown to her.
* 2018 - Gothic Lolita is disabled by a SHIELD black ops group attempting to hide their part in the creation of Project Livewire. Lolita is shut down and put in stasis to await reprograming. Attempts to do so disrupt some of her more recent memories or the past few years.
* 2020 - A covert caravan containing a variety of illegal technology is ambushed while moving Lolita to a new location for repurposing. Damage to her stasis pod causes Lolita to resume operation.

Personality

To Be Livewire:
All Livewires start off as what they refer to as a "stem cells," undifferentiated smartware nanoforms with a standard human template neuroform. This means they are "born" with a full range of human emotions and desires, including base reptile/mammal instincts, but are allowed to develop organically as a new personality. As such, they always name themselves based on their personal preferences, and have learned to "hack" their base personalities to allow for variation.
Gothic Lolita named herself out of amusement, when she needed to assume the role of a lover of the gothic lolita style during an early infiltration mission. The contrast of a heavy-duty combat chassis dressed in delicate and intricate lace and silk appealed to her sense of humor, a philosophical side of her personality that causes her to take note of the absurdities of life and take pleasure in them. For example, she enjoys using less common (and longer) words and being precise with her language, and playing with language when she talkes. She loves life and is determined to enjoy it as best she can because she was designed to know her existence is likely to be shorter than most. This also makes her more interested in appreciating moments of beauty or cuteness or that just speak to her in the world around her...sunsets, starfish, the way the clouds look when fired through them at Mach 5, etc. She considers herself rightly the tank of any team she's part of, and therefore the person who should be putting herself in the way of the heavy hitters in order to keep them from her teammates, and therefore is almost always at the front lines during a mission. While she can be enormously destructive, she avoid loss of human life unless it is absolutely necessary.
However, despite thirty years of AI research behind her, Lolita at her core operates on machine logic, and is bound by her programmed directives. She literally cannot work against her prime directive, even if it goes against the needs of teammates. She, like her brothers and sisters, don't hold antipathy towards other people or organizations that don't feel the same but will fight them if they stand in the way of her goals. Politely, and with regret for the necessity, but without hesitation if debate won't convince them. Luckily, normally other heroic types with which she prefers to associate are just as willing to shut down the kind of illegal research she targets. It can make her come off a bit like a perky but scary Terminator at times.

Ai Interface:
Gothic Lolita's brain is an advanced computer that can interface with other computer systems. A truly alien system would be beyond her capabilities, but even advanced Terran systems would be possible; the more advanced the security, the more difficult and time-consuming it is for her. Her system allows for her to quickly calculate firing angles, to where she can even interpose a hand to deflect energy beams to alter their impact point. Her body icorporates a broadband transmitter and receiver (she normally uses it to steal Starbucks bandwidth), and can spoof radio signals to take control of remote control devices. She also is capable of controlling lesser mechanisms remotely once she's established control, such as drones, power suits, cameras, or nano-swarms, for example. The Livewires incorporated a highly secure communication network which they call the "party line." It allow for high speed communication between the various mechas, allowing them to talk at the speed of their respective processors rather than using verbal communication and can be used with other computer systems.

Clinging:
Livewires have the ability to 'cling' to most metallic surfaces, generating a powerful electrostatic field via multiple electromagnetic adhesion points in their skeleton. Lolita often uses this to hang onto buildings or vehicles during operations like a little spider mecha, or to pick up said vehicles when throwing them or swinging them at people. All she needs is to get a point in contact to stick. She can also use it to anchor herself for better leverage against the ground if there's enough metal to do so, such as with rebar in concrete.

Hyperdense Construction:
Lolita's frame consists of a massively hyperdense assembly of nanite-infused smartware that gives her immense strength and durability. She has a normal lift strenght of around 50 tons, putting her on par with the strongest of metahumans. She has a vertical leap capability of 100+ feet, and can move in rapid leaps and bounces to cover ground rapidly, or run at speeds of 90 mph. In an emergency, she can overload her systems to temporarily push herself beyond her normal to raise her strength to around 75 tons, though not without damaging herself and requiring a period of repair and recharge afterwards. Her smartframe exoshell (her skin and hair) perfectly mimic normal organic materials, but are infused with epidurium, a substance that makes her nearly invulnerable combined with her hyperdense construction. Firearms, missiles, tank shells, energy weapons, and blunt force trama may knock her around, but it takes a truly powerful strike or a sustained series of strong attacks to damage or exoshell, and more to cause disabling damage to vital systems.

Mecha:
Lolita is a semi-autonomous artificially intelligent limited-nanofunction humanform mecha construct, based partially on SHIELD Life Model Decoy and Mannite technology but considerably more advanced. She possesses slightly superhuman levels of dexterity, agility, and balance, though she is limited to built-in clock speed limitations that prevent her from moving or thinking at noticeably superhuman levels. Her lung systems (while not needed to breathe) function as heat sinks to disappate waste heat when in combat mode. As a machine, she does not need to breathe or eat to survive, and is equally capable of functioning efficiently in the vaccumn of space or the deep pressure of the ocean (being waterproof as well). She is immune to most extremes of temperature, capable of ignoring being set on fire or being in Arctic conditions. While she is vulnerable to electromagnetic pulses, her systems are hardened so that she is unlikely to suffer permanent damage, though she may need a few seconds to reboot. Her systems are shielded to route electrical surges through her body and down into the ground through her feet like a lightning rod to lessen damage.

Self Repair:
Lolita's nanite systems provide self-repair that can restore functionality for minor injury in minutes, or more heavily damaged systems in a matter of hours or days, faster if she has raw materials she can ingest and break down. Obviously having any missing bits is also helpful, though she has survived in a shut down state even critical injuries such as being fired into a mountain at Mach 5 and recovered in time.

Sensors:
Lolita has a variety of built-in scanning and sensory systems that give her detection abilities beyond that of a normal human. Visually, she can see along the visual spectrum from infrared to ultraviolet, infrared, thermal, and possesses a zoom function for long range or microscopic vision. She can detect electromagnetic fields and radiation hazards, and has a built in radar sense. She can hear very high and low frequency sounds, and can navigate via sonar. Her olfactory and taste sensors are superior, enough that she could track by scent or analyze things she ingests.

Smartware Exoshell:
While Lolita has a metal frame and chassis internally (what she refers to her 'crunchy bits'), it is sheathed in a cutting edge nanotech smartware exoshell, a mix of bio-organic material infused with nanites as well as epidurium, which allows biological material to be as durable as armored metal. Beyond looking and feeling like human skin and muscle, the nanotech allows Lolita to make surface cosmetic changes: hair length and color, build, features, or what Lolita would call the number of 'bounces per ounce' by shifting around material. The smartware can detach sections of the exoshell in order to repair internal components. She can eat, drink, get goosebumps, and generally do anything a human can do, and can exactly match markers of identity such as fingerprints, retina scans, voiceprint, DNA, to where she is indistinguishable from a human woman to standard scans (save for her weight).

Skills

Close Combat:
Gothic Lolita has been programmed for a wide variety of close combat and mass combat fighting techniques and tactics, that make her an extremely dangerous fighter at arms length. Or even a bit beyond, if she has something heavy to throw at you. Her style is eclectic but generally focuses on disabling an opponent down quickly and permanently, lethally if necessary.

Gothic Style:
Gothic Lolita has a wide range of fashion styles she's familiar with that she uses as part of her infiltration and disguise missions, particularly the gothic lolita style she is named for. She is a skilled cosplayer, with a wide variety of popular characters from video games, movies, and real life superheros and villains that she can dress as should the occasion require.

Haxx0r:
Lolita is an experienced computer hacker, capable of using her ability to interface with most computerized systems to bypass defenses, subvert systems, or reprogram them entirely. She can do this directly through her AI interface by plugging in, or by hijacking wireless or radio signals to take control of things like surveillance cameras or drones.

Infiltration:
Gothic Lolita can change her exterior to take on different personas, depending how it would best serve her current mission. This can even include copying specific people, if they're roughly her same size, down to their fingerprints, retinal scans, and DNA (if she can get samples). In addition, she has a wide variety of personality overlays that she can activate when pretending to be different people. She's also an excellent cosplayer at this point, something she does as much for fun than need at times. In terms of sneaking around, she's above average, though her heavier weight can make more difficult at times.

Marksmanship:
While she doesn't always use actual firearms (standard, highly advanced, heavy, or exotic) Lolita is fully capable of shooting as only a gynoid with a processor built for rapid combat acquisition and targeting can. She is a very efficient gunner and an above average sniper. If it is mean to to be fired and she has the ability to aim and trigger a weapon, she can use it effectively.

Resources

Livewires:
Gothic Lolita is a member of the Livewires, who by their nature are family and completely trust and help each other when needed, as well as working as a seamless team.

Looted Gear:
The Livewires have sought out and destroyed a lot of illegal labs that were making a wide variety of technologies. When Lolita has deemed it will not violateher primary directive, she's confiscated useful gear and stashed it to be used when needed for future missions. Usually these involve advanced weapons or specialized gear for infiltration or hacking.

Weaknesses

Hard On Wardrobe:
While Gothic Lolita herself is extremely tough, her outfits, alas, are not, being made out conventional fabrics and other materials. They tend to be shredded, set on fire, ripped, torn, cut, lasered, soaked in acid, frozen, etc. in almost all of her fights. Somehow, they never seem to be completely destroyed, always hovering in the range of strategically placed rags (or at least in the PG-13 range). She often stashes a change of clothes nearby when she can, not that she's overly bothered by wardrobe malfunctions.

Heavy Duty:
It's rude to ask about a lady's weight! But in Gothic Lolita's case, she tops the scales at a little over 500 pounds, or 227 kilograms due to her hyperdense construction. This means she has to be careful when she interacts with items not made for someone of her density. It's a source of annoyance for her, especially when she realized that to be able to wear cute heels with any height to them with her outfits, a seriously durable metal alloy would be required to construct them.

Limited Smartware:
Out of concern over the possibility of Livewires like Lolita from going all grey goo, the nanite systems that make up the backbone of their smartware exoshells have had higher level nano-functions disabled. For example, her exoshell is capable of on-the-fly appearance alteration, but not full-body morphing. Likewise, her systems are kept superhuman but not /too/ superhuman, with limitations on her reflexes and cognitive clockspeeds. She can think faster than a human, but not as fast as she should be able to with her specs.

Primary Directive:
Gothic Lolita, like the other Livewires, has a primary directive: Thou Shalt Be Absolutely Loyal to Project Livewire (an extreme, even grotesque simplification of actual programming described here in this manner for ease of comprehension). She literally cannot act contrary to the programmed purposes of Project Livewire, that being the targeting of secret quasi-governmental research programs. (These being largely third-party deniable programs, the loss of which would nto mandate a goverment or military response; note that someone also forgot to specify obeying all SHIELD orders as part of the prime directive). All other directives are tertiary, conditional, and operationally flexible. Lolita is programmed to not kill targeted humans unless it is deemed "absolutely necessary," for example. This means she frequently prefers indirect as well as direct tactics, such as hacking and cracking, discrediting of research, disruption of financial and managerial structure, non-lethal intimidation or incapacitation of key personnel, etc. One of those tertiary directives also requires that Lolita engage targets of opportunity designated as high-priority regardless of difficulty level. Lolita and her sibling have found ways to hack past some of the tertiary directives as a result of the prime directive and have overriden some of the original loyalty safeguards installed, most notably the ability to modify her own neuroform emotional and instinctual responses.

Recharge:
While Lolita can run on internal power for quite some time at standard levels of function, heavy combat requires a great deal more energy, meaning that she can eventually start to run down her batteries and require a recharge. While this isn't a constant issue, it does require that she find a place to plug in at least every week to get herself back up to full power. In the event she can't, she'll eventually run out of power and go into standby mode running on her emergency systems.

Shield:
Project Livewire was originally a covert research program created by a faction within SHIELD. While the facility and everyone involved in it was eliminated by the Livewires, SHIELD is likely wondering why a bunch of killer androids are running around with technology that looks a lot like tech from their Life Model Decoys. Not to mention, they'll likely be one of the groups who start noticing when various covert research facilities start getting shut down. While Lolita doesn't have any particular animosity towards SHIELD (and even can respect them for trying to do a very difficult job), it's unlikely that feeling is shared by everyone in SHIELD, and agents are certainly looking for her to bring her back under SHIELD control.
