This is a list of currently active Groups in the game.

Types of Groups

It is divided into Teams and Associations. Teams have some kind of charter or organizational dogma. Associations are more based upon a network of personal relationships, localities, or common interest.

Teams

  • SHIELD: SHIELD was founded at the end of World War II. It is a US-led NATO operation with operatives drawn from all over the world. SHIELD drew heavily from the decommissioned Strategic Scientific Reserve and recruited many valuable assets and agents who had shown their mettle in the field.
  • Defenders: Someone has to keep an eye on the streets when aliens are in the skies. The Defenders came together during Loki's Assault on New York and kept gangsters like Kingpin from taking advantage of the chaos. Their name is a nod to the original superheroes of WWII and they fight for the little guys and small neighborhoods rather than going toe-to-toe with threats to the planet.
  • The Fantastic Four: Formed in 1990, The Fantastic Four are the first modern superhero team. Susan Richards and her husband Reed Richards are the spiritual parents to many superheroes that followed in their footsteps. Along with Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm, The Fantastic Four have had many adventures off and on planet and serve as role models as metahumans living squarely in the public eye.
  • Titans: Founded after the Alien Alliance Invasion in 2012, the original Teen Titans are now adults mentoring the next generation of young metahumans. The team is one of the Big Three along with the Avengers and Justice League. They welcome new recruits and have participated in events that affect the entire globe. They are quartered in Titan's Tower, just outside Metropolis.
  • Avengers: The Avengers first assembled in 2018 to halt Loki's Assault on New York. They are a group comprised of individuals with metahuman and supernatural talents. The team has a vested interest in keeping Earth and its people safe from all threats Terran and beyond. They liase frequently with the US Government and international peace-keeping groups such as S.H.I.E.L.D. and the World Security Council. Their headquarters is established in the Upper East Side of New York.
  • Justice League: The Justice League was formed in 2012 to battle the global threat of an alien invasion led by the Dominators. They were the first team with an open roster. The Death of Superman led to the group fragmenting into individual concerns. After the attacks on Genosha and New York City by Brainiac in 2020, the League reformed as an active hero group with a mission of global protection and crisis response. They are considered a nonpartisan international aid group under the Sokovian Accords and have a global mission of humanitarianism. They are based out of the Watchtower, a space-based orbital station. The Hall of Justice serves as secondary facilities and as their public relations center.
  • Xavier Institute: Founded in 2011 by Professor Charles Xavier, Xavier's School for the Gifted serves as a port of refuge for many young mutants that have been shunned by society and have nowhere else to go. Students can gain education and also nurture their unique powers under careful supervision and coaching. The Institute also provides logistical support and fresh troops for the covert paramilitary team called the X-Men. Spoken of only in whispers and rumors, the X-Men fight with the cover of anonymity against extremist groups like the Brotherhood of Mutants and Harbingers.
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: A 'team' in the sense that they all share a ship and a common cause of 'steal shit, don't get caught'. This band of misanthropes and ne'er-do-wells aren't known for their great strength, vast resources, or tremendous personal power. They're mostly known for being the only sentients sane enough to take on some insane tasks, and lucky enough to live through it.
  • Bat Family: No one would ever call Batman's allies "The Bat Family" to their face. But there's no better term for the collection of adoptees, loved ones, and even former rivals who fill out the ranks of that group. Every one of them a master of disguise and intrigue; past masters of arts both martial and intellectual. Criminals and villains alike fear few things more than the knowledge that one of the Bats is watching them.
  • Brotherhood: Known as the Brotherhood of Mutants, this quasi-cult of disaffected mutants and metahumans obeys the mighty Magneto with something close to religious zeal. Cities all over the world have small and independent cells that commit crimes ranging from minor vandalism to major felonies. Scattered and disorganized, they still represent a significant threat to not just anti-meta crusaders, but humanity at large.
  • Suicide Squad: Officially, Task Force: X-Ray is a special task force that falls under the DEO. Unofficially: they're metahuman offenders who have nothing left to lose. In exchange for full Presidential pardons, this grab-bag of dangerous criminals undertakes missions that are either too dangerous to risk more reliable assets like Stormwatch, or where it may be necessary to disavow the presence of the group if they are compromised.
  • Team Arrow: Team Arrow is a group founded on 2010 of heroes loosely based on Starling. It was formed a couple of years after Oliver Queen returned to Starling City and decided to truly pick up the mantle of Green Arrow and protect the city. It is composed of mostly street-level heroes and those with some kind of connection to the Green Arrow or the other members, having access to the Arrowcave and the technology available there. Their objective: To punish those who fail their city.

Associations

  • Xavier Institute: The proteges of Charles Xavier train and hone their skills. One day the younger cohorts will move on to membership in the X-Men or other teams associated with Xavier's School. But for now they cut their teeth on lower level threats, while attaining the kind of solid education that Xavier's School for the Gifted affords. The First Class have long graduated, and the New Mutants are transitioning into leadership and operational roles as the newest cohort of graduates.
  • Happy Harbor: Happy Harbor is a school outside of Staten Island that was part of a social project to integrate young metahumans into a learning curriculum. It was founded in 2019. After several years with no incidents, and at the behest of the student body, metahumans were encouraged to make their abilities publicly known as of the end of 2020. Happy Harbor is run by Headmistress Morrigan MacIntyre and retains a large number of metahumans as teachers and mentors.
  • Hellfire Club: Possibly the most elite social club in the world. The Hellfire Club routinely courts socialites, actors, billionaires, and politicians. The even more privileged Inner Circle has significant influence at all levels of the private and public domain alike.
  • House of El: The House of El was one of the oldest and most well-respected families in ancient Krypton. Jor-El made a perilous journey to Earth and joined the Justice Defenders while seeking a cure for the sterility plague afflicting Krypton. When he returned he discovered Krypton was on the verge of destruction, and any solution for his people would come too late. As a last-ditch effort he sent his son Kal-El and his niece Kara Zor-El to Earth. The House of El is a symbol of hope, freedom, and determination for an entire world once more.
  • The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is one of Britain's oldest associations of remarkable individuals. Wilhelmina Murray led the first incarnation of the league, known as the 'Murray Group', in order to combat the threat of En Sabah Nur and the Mollusc Invasion in 1899.
  • Infinity Watch: Formed from a disparate group of mystics and likeminded individuals who gathered to dispel the Threefold God following its manifestation in New York City, the Infinity Watch stand in defense of Earth against mystic and extradimensional threats. Overseen by the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange, they battle the insidious threats that often go unnoticed by the general population.
  • GIRL: Geniuses In action Research Labs was the brainchild of The Unstoppable Waspette. With the help of the Avengers and other allies, many young women were rescued from the Red Room science training facilities. GIRL was funded by Pym Industry's majority shareholder Janet van Dyne and set up as a think tank for the best and brightest women on the planet.
  • Gothamites: Less a shared sense of fraternity and more mutual misery, Gotham City's residents do find occasions to stick together. In a town where crazed lunatics in masks fight killer clowns, bottom-heavy crimelords, and steroid-shooting luchadores, community is the sanest possible option.
  • Birds of Prey: Formed in 2011 after Barbara Gordon found herself paralyzed from the waist down by the Joker. Restricted to mission support and her hacking she adopted the persona of Oracle and began to recruit female heroes who could benefit from a network of allies and equipment to make the world safer for everyone. The network of allies grew over the course of the next five years with many of them becoming friends and a sort of found family. Their operations also included missions in New York, Metropolis, of course Gotham, and beyond. In 2017 when Barbara went into surgery and then intensive rehab to become Batgirl once again the Birds took a hiatus until 2020 when several alumni decided it was time to get the Flock back together. The Birds have access to extensive intelligence and informational resources, state of the art technology when requested, and a network of allied heroines as backup.
  • Asgardians: Asgard's territory of The Nine Realms are a beacon of stability and security for the worlds and demesnes of Yggdrasil. The hardy Asgardians are an empire of mighty godlings, where even the serfs could walk among mortals and be worshipped. The Golden Palace of Asgard proper is the seat of power for mighty Odin, ever-vigilant protector of the realms.
  • Themyscira: The home of the Amazons, daughters of Olympus. Every woman on the island is a superhuman warrior of unparalleled skill and incredible physical capability. Over the centuries, rare outsiders have been inducted into their ranks or accepted as friends and allies. The Amazons are tasked with the preservation of culture above all else, to be ready to help escort humanity away from savagery if another Ragnarok shakes the world.
