The "Scientist Supreme", Dr. Hank Pym is very famous for his contributions to 'super' science. His Pym particles (shrinking and growth particles) are his flagship creation with vast applications, but he is also known for a number of other publications... and problems, such as Ultron. As Ant-Man and Giant-Man, Pym has been a reliable hero, included in the ranks of the Avengers. There are few that match Pym's intellect, innovation, and ...abrasiveness.

Personality

Confident:
Hank is exceptionally self-assured and confident. He knows himself, his capabilities, and limits. The fact that he's a bit vocal about his positive traits can be irritating to some, but the more important piece is that Hank is a very shrewd man about reality, and has a good scope of what he can do to change the world. He is not a wilting flower, but very assured and absolutely willing to stand up to anybody when he has to.

Introvert:
People don't ALWAYS suck, in Hank's opinion. A lot of the time people do suck, though. Hank is an introvert, but not to a degree that he's a hermit. He likes a certain few people, and tends to drive away the rest of them, which is just fine, to him, mostly. He doesn't worry what people think of him. He finds huge groups exhausting, and usually stays out of parties and the spotlight. While that is the case, he also cherishes his fame and importance, taking great pride in his accomplishments. He enjoys giving speeches in front of groups, but he doesn't enjoy the after-party, parties themselves are draining. It would take an impressive crowbar to get him to do something like go dancing. Nope. He believes his way is the best way, and is proud of his introversion.

Passionate:
Hank's bipolar disorder makes this particular trait really obvious to other people a lot of the time, as it shines a big spotlight on something that's already pretty big in his life. He's working to handle his issues, but even without the mood swings, he is a very emotionally driven person. Most people don't expect scientists to be this way: they expect a removed, calculating style, and Hank breaks that stereotype into little pieces. He is passionate, deeply involved emotionally with his work and the projects he does, as if they were his children. He cares very deeply, and it powers him to do phenomenal things. His work benefits the world, and has great importance. His love of the work itself means he is always doing something he loves: that his job is his love! That is a rare thing to have, and he values it. However, due to this, he is prone to jealousy related to work, and can be harsh on people that are indifferent about science, or those that 'waste' their time. His priorities mean his relationships with others usually take a backseat to his work: he's married to it, and his life usually lacks balance. He is capable of love for another: deeply and with great abandon, but lacking that, his work gets the full emotional wattage. Sarcasm is the blade he often uses to cope emotionally, and if he's particularly sour about something, his sarcasm can be quite cutting. When upset, Hank's tact and self control usually fall apart, and he's known to be explosive when angry, often saying things he shouldn't. The statement "I don't care" is used in both extremes: it can mean he doesn't care even a tiny bit, or it can mean he cares way too much.

Stubborn Perfectionist:
Hank is a sort of person who starts a project, and by god, he's going to finish it. If he puts his mind and effort behind something, it's going to get done, and done well. He doesn't relent, or stop, or give up; a mission, invention or design can become an obsession that can last years. He can be trusted to hold to his word, to be honorable, strong and gracious. He is very honest, but with that comes a lack of tact. He might snarl at a friend of his, even to the point of having a fight, and leave them to suffer for a while, but eventually, he'll do what's right, and help: if it was his fault. Eventually. If he's slighted, though, look out: retaliation is likely.

Powers

Focused Genius:
Hank Pym is a genius, though he applies it with a very narrow scientific focus. His Obsessive-compulsive disorder has only filed this 'focus' to a razor edge: the combination has made Pym one of the top minds of the planet, turning a flaw into a boon. His hyper-focus can mean that he doesn't laterally jump to other theories or ideas very easily: he usually is so intent on one thing that 'adaptive' is not necessarily a trait here. However, when his focus does move to a new problem, invention, or hypothesis, Hank's a steamroller of creativity and analysis. He can be somewhat plodding in doing things 'his way', but 'his way' produces insane results: he's capable of solving extremely difficult problems, such as portals to other worlds, the very nature of materials in the universe, the nature of self-awareness for Artificial intelligence, and time travel. Hank is limited only by his own tunnel vision.

Object Shifting:
Hank is also able to influence inanimate objects he is in contact with to reduce or increase the sizes of those items. He has absorbed so many particles that he generally has an ambiant field around him. This has created a lot of problems related to his strain levels, but comes with the benefit of influencing items by touch. This means he can influence items he picks up that are in his 'field' or have pym particles saturating them. The strength of this has a lot to do with how well he prepares, though. It is a lot easier to 'unshrink' something (as in, to carry a shrunken item in a pocket and restore it) than to influence an object that doesn't have a lot of particles associated with it yet.

However, he is known to have a temper tantrum and throw giant staplers or other enlarged objects to make a point. Similarly, if he needs to 'borrow' something, snaring it and shrinking it, then stowing it in a pocket, is also possible. He cannot casually do this with big objects like cars, that takes an invention to saturate the object with particles first. But then, later, it can be influenced to be restored and used by Pym.

Shrinking living things is highly unstable and very very dangerous. Pym doesn't shrink other people or living things without proper protection for them.

Size-Shifting:
Hank Pym is infused with Pym Particles, which allow him to reduce or increase his size exponentially at will. All size shifts take a toll, and suits are usually used to regulate and control the changes so that he doesn't harm himself.

Pym's strength adjusts in proportion to his size changing, meaning he can lift more when he is larger, but comparative strength also increases as he shrinks, allowing him to maintain the same strength he held at his normal size even when the size of an ant.

Due to his current strain levels (see Strain Weakness), Pym is far better at Giant size at the moment than staying tiny. He generally sits at 60' tall, with a 75 ton strength push. He can maintain that for about an hour without having much strain. Larger sizes are possible, to truly dwarf buildings or skyscrapers, but can cut the time down to 20 minutes or even less. Massive size (1000+) attempts without specifically being prepared could cause unconsciousness. Anything over 150 feet has diminishing returns on strength compared to the size (and being able to move his own weight), but it sure is impressive. Lastly, Pym enjoys increased durability while large, equal to about his strength.

Pym can, of course, drop down to Ant-size as well, or even smaller. He maintains the strength he had at 6' at these tiny sizes, which puts a punch behind even a tiny fist. It also allows excellent leaping ability, able to throw his itty-bitty body a long way. He can't hold this form long without gear, but with his gear protecting him, he can last hours before it gets really painful. Extremely small forms (smaller than ant) require survival gear from the suit, but for the most part he has the suits on anyway.

Skills

Biochemistry:
Hank Pym holds a masters in Biochemistry. Biochemistry includes the chemistry of living organisms and the molecular basis related to changes that occur within living sells. This is a science that examines how proteins, nucleic acids, vitamins, lipids, and hormones work together in chemistry processes. It is a study for biological processes (cell development, growth, disease, etc).

Combat Skill:
Hank's combat skills revolve around fairly general martial arts. He is not a strong combatant compared to those who have truly studied, but he is able to hold his own in most general hand-to-hand situations due to exposure and training through his heroic connections. He's just more often sitting in a lab, not training, but he can get by in combat.

Computer Science:
Hank Pym holds a masters in Computer science and engineering. Computer Science is centered primarily around theory and software, and Engineering focuses more into the hardware with heavy electrical engineering areas: physical applications. Hank is primarily focused into science, as he is more of a scientist than an engineer, but is capable of building physical structures to house his software as well. In terms of Software vs. Hardware, Pym lends to Computer Science side of software (algorithms, AI, cryptography, operating systems, etc). Hank Pym has his own OS on all of his systems, and is an elite level hacker and world-class programmer.

Entomology:
Hank Pym holds a doctorate in Entomology (focus Ants). Hank's original passion (obsession) is with insects (such as ants, bees and beetles), and this was his first doctorate. Most Entomologists pick a specific insect to specialize in: Hank's was ants. It includes study and classification, physiology, behavior, population dynamics, life cycle, and any other items having to do with insects.

Mathematics:
Hank Pym holds a masters in Mathematics, with a robust knowledge of extremely complicated math concepts and principles. This skill often overlaps into computer science and particle/quantum physics, but he is able to hold his own with other top mathematicians, and can produce answers to complicated problems quickly.

Medicine and Cybernetics:
While Hank isn't formally licensed as a medical doctor, his knowledge of biology, anatomy and so forth is sufficient to where he can perform complicated procedures, which can include installing, upgrading, or maintaining cybernetics. This is a zone where his biology knowledge pairs with robotic. He is also highly adept at treating viruses or bacterial infections, radiation poisoning, and other areas that circle around his zones of expertise.

Particle Physics:
Hank Pym holds a doctorate in Particle Physics. Particle physics is a branch of physics that has to do with the nature of particles that constitute both matter and radiation. Quantum physics is more general than particle physics: Particle physics involves the applications of Quantum physics to particles. Hank is the top of the field in his niche of Particle Physics, which is rooted in Quantum Physics.

Robotics Engineering:
Robotics engineering covers design, testing, and building robots. This is generally done in a mixture of computer-aided design, drafting, and computer-aided manufacturing. (CADD/CAM). It also includes research to expand the potential for robots, and goes hand in hand with Pym's study in Computer engineering. Hank is capable of building robots of extremely complicated designs for a variety of applications, including extremely advanced and self-aware AI (such as his mistake/success, Ultron).

Resources

Ants:
Hank Pym has a set of several dozen specially trained ants that he uses in his lab facilities or home for various tasks. These ants are infused with Pym particles, which makes them able to safely shift inside a laboratory that may also be shrinking in size. Usually these ants are about the size of big dogs, with bite and physical strength superior to dogs (more like giant ants!). They are usually just 'lab assistants' and guards, and Pym protects them like treasured pets.

Avengers:
As a former (and current) Avenger, Hank has full access to all of the Avengers tech and physical resources, in addition to information and communications. More importantly, he can call upon Avengers if he needs to, for either SCIENCE or assistance.

Inventions:
Hank Pym has an array of inventions. There's a few things he doesn't do: he avoids weapons and military applications as much as he can, so he doesn't generally have aggressive inventions. His items are usually more medical or robotic in nature, often tools to gather more data, or to protect his precious data. That said, often these inventions can be re-appropriated to deal with situations as they come up. It can save time to already have a dismantled space-field ripper when someone falls in-between dimensions. Due to his ability to miniaturize things, he usually keeps a kit of a variety of things such as force-field generators or flight tech (jetpack?) in shrunken form on his person when he's suited up. He's very able to equip other superheroes on the fly, though he is often stingy and requires his items back.

Mobile Labs:
Hank Pym has several 'Mobile labs': meaning, labs that are shrunken down and can be moved to new locations, and then sized back up to full scale. These are his prized possessions and he is very critical about others having access to them. Usually he will keep one set up near where he is currently working. These labs contain the heart of his serious equipment, most of it his own design or invention, and are extremely tempting to villains to steal, when they are small. Fortunately, security within the labs is also extreme, and those that attempt to hack or breach one of these mobile labs may not be as successful as they had hoped. Equipment in these labs can serve any number of high grade Pym inventing needs, though he has to have enough space to bring a lab up to full scale.

Pym Technologies:
While Pym has sold sections of his company mostly due to not wanting to run a business, he maintains heavy rights within Pym Technologies. There is a board, and shareholders to deal with, but Pym's name is on the thing, and that carries significant weight. Pym wants to be left to do his research, and there are lots of businessmen and women that were eager to take over the business side of things. Still, Pym retains good control over the company, at least for now, and it grants him access to labs or toys if his own locations aren't available.

Suits:
Hank has invented multiple suits to allow protection and utility during shape-shifting. While he can size-shift without them, he will avoid it due to strain problems. These suits shift with him, being made of highly advanced polymers, and are generally fuelled by Pym particles separate from the ones Hank Pym himself has within his body (to reduce personal impact). These are specific suits that can reduce the strain of going into Giant or Ant sizes. These suits are armored to withstand general bullets (in most areas, they are not perfect, due to allowing good mobility), and are geared mostly towards protecting the wearer from the problems related to shifting size: these are made for agility, not for invincibility.

The helmets allow Hank to communicate with and command ants, termites or other organized insects. He can cause the insects to complete advanced, complex tasks. The helmets also give advanced thermal and electromagnetic imaging, and allow a variety of types of communication, even at tiny size.

The suits have rocket packs that can allow huge leaps or limited, brief flight when in small size modes. A stinging weapon in the gauntlets of the suit allows for a bioelectric 'bite', capable of stunning a human or knocking them out, within several yards of distance, though it does not work with the giant-sized suit versions. Finally, the suits are flame retardant and electrically insulated.

Wealth:
From inventions and various technology solutions in computer software, Pym has collected a worth of about 10 million in personal assets. He has squirreled this away all over the place in investments, which means only about 1 million is accessible much of the time. If he needs more money, he tends to liquidate or create something new to sell to finance the new project or building, and sits with this cushion of personal wealth being pretty consistent. He's savvy and hoarding, but also smart about real estate or opportunities, which means his money is usually tied up. He owns several homes; all of them have lab spaces.

Weaknesses

Bipolar and Obsessive:
Hank has a pair of mental disorders. He is aware of them, but that doesn't mean he can always do a lot about it. Hank is prone to suffering big mood swings, from deep depression up to manic. His obsession is usually less severe, and comes in the form of needing his lab a certain way, and working insane hours compulsively. He has had a mental breakdown related to the problems he suffers from, and does have some medication he uses that helps.

Hard To Work With:
Hank is well known in the scientific community as being very hard to work with. His discoveries, knowledge and intellect make him a glorious goal for students to want to learn from: but a spot working under Hank is nearly impossible to obtain, and even harder to keep. He is extremely good at driving people away, due to his mix of mood swings and perfectionism. He takes a certain kind of patience to endure, though he's better than he used to be, he's still a very difficult partner on any project. Usually he makes up for it in contribution: but it all depends on what other people are willing to deal with.

Pride:
He's proud of a great many things, and can often be found to be boastful if he feels he's not being given proper credit. He doesn't need to proclaim that he's the smartest person in the room, unless someone foolishly suggests otherwise. Similarly, if he's not given respect, Hank can be impossible to deal with, as he turns surly when his pride gets injured. And his pride is easily injured, even by compliments, if they aren't given in a way that Hank feels is honest.

Selfish:
There are some people that would use shrinking tech to go be heroes and make the world better. Hank... does do that, but his first instincts are how to make his personal life better. He usually keeps his gaze inwards first, before looking out: so he will work for tech that improves his comfort as a priority. This just means he may take some pushing to look beyond his own lab or current obsession, and help the world. It doesn't mean he won't help, though; he can be very heroic when he has his mind on such a goal.

Strain:
Changing size is straining on Hank Pym, and he has been doing it for a decade. His experience with it and being very accustomed to size-shift is still present, but his body has taken a beating. His body does not react well to shrinking anymore, at least not without equipment to help protect him. It is dangerous for him to do it too often, and is at the point where it can cause him significant pain or injury to attempt to do sudden big shifts in size (such as from ant to giant quickly). Overusing this can make him very ill, and unable to shift in size for days. It is the price of heavy strain on his body for such a long time. For this reason, he usually has equipment to protect him from this, or sticks to Giant sizes without equipment.

Stubborn:
His stubbornness usually grants him the title of Grade-A Asshole, more often than not. He's extremely judgmental and critical of himself and others. Hank can be doggedly determined to not forgive someone, to not let go of a slight, to push a joke a little too long, and to lack understanding of those who aren't as dedicated to causes he considers worthy. He doesn't react well to being told he's wrong, and rarely apologizes, even if he does come to be aware that he overreacted. This doesn't mean he doesn't feel guilty, or badly about mistakes, but admitting them or apologizing is a whole other issue that his stubborn pride has a hard time with socially.

Vengeful:
Hank doesn't just drop things, he carries things around forever. Small slights against him or things he cares about can fester for years. He isn't subtle about it, he'll bring it up, at least: which can cause a number of fights, but at least he doesn't bury dirty laundry. He just doesn't have a lot of ability to forgive unless the other party is truly groveling or really learned their lesson in a way that Hank feels is appropriate (which can be way out of proportion). Particularly big buttons are things like thievery or attempts to duplicate 'his' inventions or property. He is very protective over whatever he considers his, and punishing to those that step too close to his toes.
