Heat of the Forge, Project Completion
Date of Cutscene: 30 June 2021
Location: The Turtle's Mall Lair
Synopsis: Leonardo completes the construction of the tanto he's making for Kainashi.
Cast of Characters: Leonardo, April O'Neil

It took three days but the blade is finished. The single edged, slightly curved blade that ends in a steeply angled chisel point measures exactly one Japanese shaku (or just under a US customary foot) has an intricate Turkish twist pattern of two different metals in it. The blade was acid etched to make the distinctive pattern pop but it has also been blued in order to reduce the blade's reflexivity. While Leonardo allowed the intended recipient to see the beginning of the process none other than Master Splinter has seen this since he completed the basic billet construction.
Yesterday a package with the African blackwood Leonardo had ordered arrived at a PO box that April and the brothers share. After she brings it to him at the mall lair he began the work on the sheath and handle for the blade. Constructed in the traditional fashion, the two halves of the wooden sheath and handle are made to fit the blade, holes are drilled though it for the handle's pins. Epoxied and sanded, brass habaki firmly in place, even the pins have been blackened to blend into the wooden handle.
His work completed, Leo nods in satisfaction. All said, it’s a good weapon for a budding ninja. Before heading to bed he wraps it in a black furoshiki cloth which was delivered in a smaller package which was delivered at the same time as the wood. While completely black, the cloth was woven with two different textures so that a set of four dragons can be seen in the two-foot on a side square cloth (like see in this picture but black on black rather than blue on white).
