Personality

Compassionate:
Jon's father is (Was? Time is weirder than it looks!) largely considered to be one of the noblest, most self-sacrificing, and true-hearted heroes on the face of the planet and off it. While that's as much nurture as it is nature, Jon was raised by the man and he inherited this in spades. As a child he eagerly took to wearing the 'S' to go on adventures and save the day, but as he's grown and matured he's come to understand the true difference he can make. There's nothing violent or aggressive about him, and he is nurturing in the extreme. Violence is always the last option for him, and if he can't talk it out then he'll try to defuse the situation in as non-violent a way as he can. Saving people is not just a 'job' for him, but a true calling written into his very self.

Driven:
Just as he inherited his father's kind heart, Jon inherited his mother's zeal for the truth. Though he is still wary about doing things like standing up to the authorities (like the police, the military, or the government) given that he was raised to respect such institutions, as he has matured Jon has developed a sense for exposing corruption and injustice. For him, wearing the 'S' is not only about fixing problems when they occur, but dragging them out at the root. As a close friend of his said in another place and time: It's not enough to fight the symptoms, he wants to be the cure.

Human:
Like his father, Jon grew up with his superhuman abilities. Unlike his father, however, he had someone with him who knew exactly what he was going through. While Jon readily understands that he is different with all the complications and feelings of isolation this can bring, he does not feel as separate or isolated like his fellow members of the House of El can. He doesn't need to put on a caricature of a timid human being to pass for one. Both in and out of the 'S', Jon is a child of the blue planet and does not see himself as an alien in anything but the most biological of senses.

Outgoing:
Jon is most comfortable when he is around other people. These can be teammates joining him in taking on some horrible threat to the planet, or just friends to chat with and mull over what it is to be a superhero without decades of experience to draw on. He doesn't often get nervous around others, makes friends easily, and having conversation is rarely a chore. Of course, his innate inclination towards connecting personally makes maintaining a secret identity next to impossible.

Character Sheet

Powers

Fire and Ice:
Jon is able to shoot heat from his eyes, much like Superman can, often referred to as laser vision by the public. The heat beams can reach a range of 50 yards using the radiation he has stored to use this heat energy.

Along with heat vision, Jon can take in massive amounts of air into his lungs, blowing it back at great speeds, and sometimes even be able to cool things down and encase them in ice. The range on this is two yards at maximum. This lung capacity can also be a bit of a hinderance, if he gets sick, he has blown the window out of his room, or he has even blown over a friend after telling a joke. These two powers are the most reserved of his capabilities, as they have caused the most accidents. He does not often use them.

Flight:
Flight: Jon can fly! He is able to subconsciously manipulate gravitonic particles to cause his body to levitate. Able to use leverage without a solid surface, Jon is able to use his strength and speed while he's in flight and often floats accidentally. He is fast enough to traverse the earth in an hour at his more casual speeds, but his full limits are untested.

Invulnerability:
Being powered by the yellow sun allows Jon to be near invulnerable, unless his emotions interfere. He has not been able to see just how far his powers can go, but he has stopped bullets and other attacks from foes with no harm done. He was once thrown through a building in a large battle, without a scratch. This applies to energy attacks as well, but magic and psionic attacks are not covered.

Kryptonian:
Jon's powers are fueled by sunlight from a "Yellow Sun" like the one in the Sol system. The radiation from it, and others like it, charge him. A 'red' sun (like Krypton's now dead sun) is the opposite, suppressing his powers altogether.

The powers that a yellow sun gives him allow for suspended breathing (his record was ten hours, but he had to go to bed.) It could allow him to be in space for prolonged times, and allow him to remain underwater for equally long times.

While under the effects of a red sun, Jon is slightly more durable than normal humans, but he is most definitely vulnerable.

Super Senses:
Jon's senses are enhanced to beyond superhuman levels while powered by a yellow sun. Jon is able to see across the entirety of the EM spectrum to such an extent that he is able to visually identify radiowaves and bandwidths. He is able to see down to the subatomic level and match the power of the most advanced microscopes and h's able to see things from an extreme distance away. He is able to see through most everything, with the exception of lead.

Jon's nose is better than a bloodhound's own. He is able to smell odors from across a city.

Like his father, Jon has a superb ability to hear. He can hear sounds on every wavelength and can hear noises across the planet. He has to focus to tune out all the noises, which can make conversations difficult and normal life hard if he can hear a cry of help from anywhere on earth.

Jon's sense of taste is accurate enough that he can taste the individual ingredients and chemicals in the food he eats if he focuses hard enough.

Super Speed:
Like Superman, Jon has the ability to move at incredible speed without being connected to the speed force. Despite his being able to act fast on reflex, prolonged actions while moving at super speed require a great amount of focus, and of course, like any human teen, he can lack that amount of focus.

While Jon is capable of moving fast enough to catch a bullet, or to not be seen, this is not his natural state.

Super Strength:
His father's son, Jon is /extremely/ strong. A half-kryptonian, Jon's cells being charged by the yellow sun. He is capable of lifting tens of thousands of pounds, lifting cars and heavy machinery with ease. He's strong enough to send many of his father's powerful villains flying with his punches and he's fully capable of fighting around the same weight class.

Skills

'normal':
Jon has had to remain under the radar with his personal life. While not as unassuming as Clark at times, Jon is able to blend in with a crowd, given he has the appropriate clothes and glasses.

Empathetic:
Jon does not like to see people be hurt, and is in tune with the outward emotions of others. He listens, and more often than not, offers a helping hand when he can.

Thrifty:
Jon is good with money, something his dad made sure he had a sense of from his younger days. He is not rich, but he can indeed set a budget for himself.

Resources

Allowance:
Jon has earned money from chores and such to spend how he wants, it's a meager sum, but he can often buy himself a meal or get something every now and again.

Weaknesses

Family:
Jon cares very much for his family, like Clark, if anything were to happen to Lois, he would be utterly devastated.

Helper:
Jon's father is very good at maintaining the balance between Clark Kent and Superman. He's maintained the same secret identity for years and years, and only a few people have ever cracked it without him telling them outright. This doesn't come as easily to Jon. He has the same drive to help people, but he can be more impulsive about it. Jon has had a few different 'secret identities' over the years, and he usually leaves them in tatters when he rushes to the aid of someone in peril while still wearing his 'civilian' clothes. He cannot pretend to be normal when people need him.

Kryptonite:
Just like any other kryptonian, Jon has a vulnerability to Kryptonite. The mineral from his paternal homeworld can pierce his skin, and damage his organs. The radiation the rocks give off can weaken him to a heap on the floor, or in prolonged exposure, kill him.

Lead:
Lead will inhibit Jon's ability to see through objects just like an X-Ray. There is no workaround for this weakness, it is absolute.

Magic:
Mystics and magic are tricky against Kryptonians, while it may not be easy to damage Jon with mystic energy, it is indeed a viable way to counter his Kryptonian physiology. He can be harmed, and hurt by magic of all kinds.

Naivety:
Jon is young, and likes to see the good in people, believing no one person is every truly irredeemable. This means that sometimes people can take advantage of that, and allow him to be taken advantage of.

Psionics:
Due to largely a lack of experience in facing telepathic foes, Jon is extremely susceptible to telepathic intrusion and control.

Red Sun:
While a Yellow Sun can charge Jon's cells that give him his incredible gifts, the Red Sun takes them all away. Under the effects of a yellow sun, he loses all of his strength, speed, invulnerability, the works. He becomes powerless and vulnerable.

Trauma:
Jon's past trauma regarding his powers still haunt him to this day. He once accidentally killed his cat while trying to save it from being taken by a hawk. To this day, it keeps his heat vision from being something he can use at will.

He remains reluctant to harm living things because of this, and will not go farther than necessary to subdue.
