Orson Randall was the warrior known as the Iron Fist, and actively defended America during World War II.

He was born in 1896. In 1906, his father's airship was inadvertently shot down by the Atillans and Orson was discovered by the monks of K'un-Lun. Raised and trained by the monks, he eventually challenged the champion of K'un-Lun for the title of Iron Fist. Orson returned to the West in 1914 as the rumblings of war from Europe reached his ears. He joined the Freedom's Five to fight off German aggression in Europe. In 1933 Randall was recalled to the city of K'un-Lun to fight in the Tournament of Heavenly Cities. Randall refused and fled to New York, losing himself in a drug addiction and many clashes with his 'misfit' friends and the growing Harbingers influence in New York.

When America was readying itself to go to war, Orson found himself in the company of other 'Mystery Men' under Roosevelt's direction. He was a founding member of the Great Lakes Defenders and used his potent martial arts abilities to defend America from nationalists and their agents from the Third Reich.

After the war, Orson adopted a young orphan named Wendall Rand. Wendell trained furiously under Orson and became a remarkable martial artist in his own right, but was never introduced to the mysteries of K'un-Lun's mystic traditions. Instead, Wendall left for the United States and founded the Rand Corporation.

His grandson, Danny Rand, would become the next Iron Fist.
