The son of known terrorist Magneto and a former terrorist himself, Pietro Maximoff may be known to more than a few for negative purposes. But, then there is the other side. The light side...the side of angels. The Avenger. The defender of mutant rights. With the gifts that he has been given, Pietro will fight for what he believes to be right, whether that is for mutant kind, civilization as a whole, or the disenfranchised.

And....for his sister, Wanda. Always for Wanda.

Timeline:
* 1990 - Fraternal twins, a red-headed girl and a white-haired boy, are given to Marya and Django Maximoff to raise. The exchange happens near Wundragore Mountain, with the exact events shrouded in mystery. The Maximoffs give the twin babies the name of Wanda and Pietro.

* 1997 - The Maximoffs' Romani camp comes under attack by residents of a nearby village. The cause of the attack is due to accusations of thievery and a belief that Wanda had attacked a village boy. During the attack, Marya was believed to have burned alive in the wagon. While in the midst of a brutal beating, Django yelled at the children to run, to save themselves. Pietro's mutant ability was displayed publicly for the first time as he sped away, cradling his sister in his arms. On their own at such a young age, the twins encounter hardship and prejudice as they grow older.

* 1999 - Due to their connection via birth to Wundragore Mountain, the twins have their first encounter with Chthon cultists.

* 2005 - Magneto reveals he is the twins' biological father. This doesn't sit well with Pietro initially, but begrudgingly learns to accept the fact. The twins become the youngest to join the Brotherhood.

* 2010 - The twins have a falling out with Magneto. The two decide to go to America for a fresh start.

* 2018 - Both Wanda and Pietro help to repel Loki's attacks. This prompts others to notice, most particularly the Avengers. The two accept an invitation to join the Avengers somewhat later. In addition, mostly due to Wanda's prompting, the two reconcile with their biological father.

* 2019 - Combining his love of history with his fascination of languages, Pietro receives a Masters in Linguistics/Language Studies from Columbia University, with a particular focus on the Romani language and culture.

Crutch:
Pietro needs support. Oh, he is much too proud to admit it, but he needs to feel like he belongs. That is why he clings so tightly to his sister. He has never been alone and the sheer thought of it scares him. It scares him down to his core. He is already so isolated...without Wanda, he would be lost. Of course, he must not let her or anyone else know that. He is much too proud and stubborn let that happen.

Intelligence:
When all the world seems to move at a snail's pace, you tend to find activities to do at your own speed. Pietro finds that reading is one of those activities that he has full control over and, as a result, he reads a lot. And, because he reads a lot, Pietro is rather intelligent. While certainly not a genius intellect by any means, Pietro can hold his own rather well. He is able to pick up things quickly and can be surprisingly good at remembering the details, despite how distracted he may appear to be.

Passionate:
Pietro feels things very keenly, and his reactions to things are almost always emotional. There is passion underneath that seemingly cold exterior. This is not normally seen, thanks in no small part to the sheer quickness of his reaction times. Pietro can literally react to a situation, think about it, and calm his emotions, all before anyone except the most observant can notice. To those frequently around Pietro, the man normally seems to never show emotion other than anger and consternation. In reality, the reaction and adjustment is simply too fast to follow for most. This doesn't change the fact that he is a highly emotional being. On the contrary, more often than not, Pietro's situational handling is more colored with emotion than approached with strictly logic, which has a tendency to cause issues.

Patience:
Everyone is telling Pietro to slow down. To show some patience. If only they knew just how patient he really was. Pietro is patient. Oh, he is loaded with patience. You would have to be if you were able to move, think, and experience life as fast as he does. However, it is not an unlimited amount of patience...and when the whole damn world is moving so slow, that patience grows thin at times. No body really understands...no one understands just how utterly *annoying* it is to slow down and hold back, just so that he can operate at what other people consider 'normal'.

Stubborn:
Pietro's stubbornness can also be construed as obsession or dominance. But, again, it is just a misunderstanding. People just don't realize that, by the time normal people make a decision, Pietro has analyzed five different scenarios, weighed the pros and cons, and made, in his opinion, the best educated decision for the situation at hand. Really, it isn't his fault others do not have the vision he has.

Enhanced Durability:
Also as part of his speed physiology, Pietro is capable of resisting tremendous impact forces that could easily crush and kill a human without suffering any serious external or internal injuries. This is essential for high speed movement, for without this durability, Pietro would suffer extreme harm from wind resistance due to running at super-sonic speeds without some sort of protection.

Speed Physiology:
As part of Pietro's mutation, his body is adapted towards the rigors of high-speed running. His cardiovascular and respiratory systems are many times more efficient than those of a normal human being. Pietro metabolizes an estimated 95% of the caloric energy content of what he eats as opposed to the 25% normal humans do. This high metabolic rate also ensures that, although not immune to toxins, venom, and other chemicals, Pietro will burn through whatever effects the toxins have considerably quicker than a normal human. Pietro will certainly get sick, but the duration of the sickness would be much shorter than normal. His body does not generate fatigue poisons, which would normally force the body to rest. Instead, he expels waste products during his accelerated respiration through exhalation. His joints are smoother and lubricated more efficiently than normal humans. His tendons have the tensile strength of spring steel. His bones contain unknown materials significantly more durable than calcium to withstand the dynamic shocks of his feet touching the ground at supersonic speeds. His eyeballs are able to withstand high wind velocity, allowing him to see clearly without any obscuring of vision. In addition, Pietro's practical reaction time is several times faster than normal. His brain processes information to a level commensurate with his bodily speed, enabling him to perceive his surroundings and react while traveling at high velocities.

Superhuman Speed:
Pietro is capable of running faster than the speed of sound (770 miles per hour). He has enough energy, due to his speed physiology, to allow him to run at this average speed for an unknown amount of hours before needing to slow down. Using his speed, Pietro has been known to snatch arrows out of the air from a standing start as well as dodge machine gun fire. He can create cyclone-like gusts of wind powerful enough to knock a person off of his or her feet. He is able to run across water as well as up the side of buildings with little to no difficulty.

As part of Pietro's speed, he is immune to the effects of friction, reduced oxygen up to a point where a human can no longer breathe, and impact upon his body while moving at super-speeds (See Enhanced Durability).

Superhuman Strength:
As part of his speed physiology, Pietro has superhuman strength, particularly in his lower body. He has been known to be able to lift nearly 1000 pounds with his upper body and press approximately one ton with his legs under prime conditions.

Fighting:
Over the years, Pietro has been given training in hand-to-hand combat with a variety of instructors. Pietro has taken well to the training and sought to improve his skills, combining them with his own gift for speed. This is in part of his attitude that anything worth doing is worth doing well. In addition, his drive to protect his loved ones compels Pietro to constantly improve his skills. After all, someone has to protect those he loves.

Historical Knowledge:
Pietro reads. A lot. And, when Pietro reads, he tends to prefer non-fiction to flights of fancy. He is a history aficionado and reads whatever history books he can find. As a result, he is able to ramble on about dates and facts enough to bore even the most learned of history professors.

Multi-Lingual:
Pietro likes to learn...and one of his studies is language. The young man speaks six languages already, and is more than willing to study those that he doesn't know. For the most part Pietro can read and write a language far better than he can speak it. He simply doesn't get much practice in speaking the languages, as opposed to reading or writing. Best known ones are English, German, French, Russian, Romani, and Spanish.

Navigation:
With the ability to go virtually anywhere, it helps to be able to know how to get there. Pietro has worked to develop his navigational skills, which includes map reading, course plotting, and determining lines of position. Pietro is able to use celestrial observation, terrestial ranging and, if available, electronic navigation to determine where he is at any point and the best course to take to get to where he wants to go.

Survival:
Due to Maximoff siblings' rather independent childhood, Pietro has acquired the skills to survive out in the wild for a short period of time. While no Boy Scout, Pietro can in a pinch obtain shelter, hunt for food, create a fire, and forage for supplies. It does help to be faster than the wildlife, which greatly assists in the whole survival aspect.

Avengers Assemble:
As a member of the Avengers, Pietro is able to call upon the team for assistance. As well, Pietro's status allows him all the rights and responsibilities of being an Avenger. This includes use of the fleet of vehicles (should he actually need it), residence at Avenger's Mansion, as well as being expected to respond at a moment's notice.

Costume:
Pietro's costume is fabricated to be able to withstand the stresses of super-sonic speeds. There is little else in the way of protection provided, as Pietro relies on his speed and combat training for defense.

Family:
Pietro may have issues with his biological father, but he knows that he can rely on him at any point. He is absolutely certain that Wanda would have his back, should he even need to ask. Pietro's family may certainly not be the ideal family, but they are willing to do whatever it takes to protect each other.

Mental Illness:
Mental illness may almost be considered a family genetic trait. Pietro suffers from severe depression, due to the detachtment from the world his mutant ability fosters. Also, this depression may fluctuate, depending on the mental and emotional stability of his sister Wanda.

Poison Reaction:
Due to Pietro's sped-up metabolism, he experiences the effects of toxins, poisons and chemicals within his body at an accelerated rate. He will get sick, but he will also rush through the symptoms much much quicker than a normal person. There's a huge drawback to this as well. He processes things so quickly that if it's something that doesn't dissipate, he may be dead long before anyone even realizes the danger.

Seems So Slow:
When you are able to go super-sonic, the world is a slow, quiet place. People take forever to make even the most simple of actions and trying to listen to them talk so slowly can be maddening. As a result, Pietro comes off as impatient at best and a major ass at worst. Because of this perception of the world crawling, Pietro has a tendency to get distracted easily, thus missing when important things are going on. This distraction can place Pietro at an extreme disadvantage, because even the slightest miscalculation at super-speeds can be disastrous.

Wanda:
Wanda: Pietro is the big brother, even if it is by only a manner of minutes, and he takes his role very seriously. Pietro and Wanda have always been together and Pietro can not nor will not imagine a world where they are not together. He will do whatever he needs to ensure Wanda's safety, risking his own well-being to ensure that no harm befalls her.
