Sally Pride was created to be the ultimate pilot, as part of Null Industries' plans to create mutants as marketable, manufactured super soldiers. Intensive training and conditioning via Virtual Reality Simulations has made her just that, taking advantage of superhuman reflexes and hand-eye coordination to be able to operate almost anything she gets behind the wheel (or other control mechanisms) of. But she was rescued from that fate by a band of fellow mutants, and joined their fight for freedom from the society that views them as no more than violent monsters. All while trying to keep out of the grasp of her former captors. She was trained as a soldier and pilot, but the main reason Sally now fights for is so others do not have to go through the excruciating experiences she did. Cages and evil science labs suck worse than car crashes do.

Personality

Compassion:
Beneath the energetic macho driver tough girl attitude Sally is more sensative then most would think. She considers the other Mutanimals (and their token human) her family, and mutankind in general by extension regardless if they were born animal or human. Despite her own brash nature she is always looking out for them, and will go out of her way to help another even if it means putting herself in more danger than her own stunts do. She is a bit more willing to extend a hand and trust than some of her comrades, because it's something you need to be willing to give in order to recieve. Though that also means betraying that trust is a fast way to set her off. If she does actually get angry, it means someone -really- stepped over a line and she is going to make them regret doing so. Moreso if someone else was hurt than for herself.

Confidence:
Sally is exceptionally confident in her abilities, especially her skills as a driver and pilot. Put her behind the controls of a vehicle or give her an objective to make, and she will throw herself into doing so with no hesitation. Part of it is from her training to be a superhuman soldier, part of it is the bravery lions are often associated with, and part of it is just because she enjoys the thrill and the challenge. It has nothing to do with proving herself, it's what she enjoys and she believes she has the capability to pull it off no matter how impulsive or ill-prepared she may be. Confidence in herself and what she feels is right is also why she is the one that often speaks up, if she thinks someone is going too far or not acting in the best interests of their allies.

Upbeat:
Despite what she's been through in her relatively limited life as a mutant, Sally is one to try and keep an optimistic outlook. Or at the very least not get hung up on the negatives like some others do. She would rather look to the challenges ahead than stand in the shadows of the past and not try to make things better. As of such Sally will often joke and tease like an older sister to help keep spirits up. Even when the times are hard she tries to be reassuring and supportive of allies. Better to keep heads up looking to the future than staring at their feet in defeat. Or something about only losing the fights you give up on, but she's not the philosophical one. She wants their cause to actually be about helping mutantkind, and others in need, not lashing out over past transgressions.

Character Sheet

Powers

Dexterity:
Even more advanced than her physical strength is Sally's dexterity and reflexes. Being mutated from a big cat means she is considerably nimble and quick on her feet despite her size and strength, and reasonably flexible. Her hand-eye coordination is phenomenal though, and the reason she was chosen to be trained as the ultimate pilot. It also means she can respond to threats exceptionally quick, and aim her own attacks for where they will be highly effective.

Enhanced Traits:
Lions have natural physical prowess and the mutation process enhanced those abilities to match her increased intelligence and humanoid capability. She is exceptionally strong, able to rip open the door of a vehicle or smash through reinforced windows easily, and once even tore the blade off a helicopter tail-prop to use as a makeshift weapon. She also has great endurance, and while not immune to injury she will often, due to training and adrenaline, not register how much she's actually hurt until after the fact, or is completly knocked out.

Mutant Lioness:
Sally was mutated from a normal lion and still posseses several of those traits. Most notible is that she has semi-retractable claws (lions cannot completely sheath their claws) in place of nails, that she can use to climb and for extra grip as well as for fighting. She has a cat-like tail to assist her sense of balance and spacial awareness. Her hearing is better than a human's but not supremely so, while her eyesight is exceptional, and also retains a cat's natural nocturnal vision.

Skills

Brawler:
Despite being part of a 'super soldier' type program Sally only got a limited amount of combat training before more focus was put on her driving and piloting skills. That said, she has more than enough to put the enhanced traits of her mutation to good use. So she fights primarily as a street brawler, relying on quick wits and coordination to land strikes that make use of her considerable strength, and withstand blows through endurance, adrenaline and sheer tenancity to protect her friends. Prefers punching, kicks and general melee fighting. But she's not afraid to use her claws or even her fangs if the situation calls for it. Often wears fingerless biker gloves with studded knuckles to give her punches a bit more sting.

Firearms:
Sally is a reasonably good shot thanks to her hand-eye coordination, and has training in use of both personal and military level firearms, and vehicle mounted weaponry. She just prefers fisticuffs and only carries a handgun or similar for things she can't just punch the crap out of, or picked one off of someone she already beat up. The great coordination along with training does give her good precision in vehicular combat, though depending on the type it can be awkward to drive and operate weapons at the same time.

First Aid:
Sally knows the basics of first aid and field treatment of wounds as part of her pseudo-military training. It's probably more important that she has learned how to apply this skill to mutants, despite their often varied and unusual physiques, as well as humans. She can't do complicated treatments but she can make sure you're bandaged up and stable enough to find the help you do need.

Gearhead:
Her vehicle training included the general maintenance of such, which she has continued developing over time. Fiddling with vehicles is one of the few things she has that's close to a hobby even if it also serves a purpose in being ready for missions. Sally will make sure whatever vehicle the team gets their paws on is running at peak performance and then some. She knows how to force access and hotwire the ignition, though she insists those skills are only for 'emergencies'. Like saving friends. Or denying enemy assets because she really liked that fully loaded SUV they were using.

Vehicle Operator:
Through various virtual-reality simulations Sally was trained to be the ultimate pilot and driver. She can get behind the wheel or other controls of almost any known vehicle; including aircraft, rotorcraft and military grade hardware, and know almost instantly what she can do with it. And if need be push beyond that as well. She knows all the wicked stunts you see in action flicks and isn't afraid to try to pull them off, try to use environment to her advantage in a chase, or even use the entire vehicle as a weapon if she can.

Resources

Safehouse:
The Mutanimals have a safehouse in a rundown building in an equally rundown part of New York City. It's far from fancy but Sally at least has her own room and personal space. And a night light to help prevent nightmares.

Stun-Gun:
When she needs a gun Sally does carry one of the stun blasters originally stolen from Null Industries, prefering one of the handgun style models. It fires energy bursts that are fairly potent but non-lethal, like a high powered and wireless taser gun.

Vehicles:
Sally is usually in charge of driving the truck her team uses for a transport. She also has an old muscle car that she's tinkered with over time. Sally is probably better known for her knack at hotwiring, hijacking or otherwise 'aquiring' vehicles for use, especially if she can snatch one from the enemy or the general vicinity. These 'borrowed' vehicles rarely survive longer than an encounter or two, as she also tends to wear them out quickly with her intense stunt-driving and using the vehicle itself like a weapon.

Weaknesses

Brashness:
Despite all the good it does for her Sally's confidence can also be her own worst enemy. Like most thrill seekers she is prone to acting on impulse and little worry towards safety, more focused on the challenge ahead, or what amazing stunt she can try to pull off with whatever vehicle she's gotten her paws on. Skill and excitement usually triumphs over potential danger. If one of her allies or family of fellow freaks is in danger she will jump in to help them with only limited consideration towards the danger and little concern for her own defense. You're talking about someone that once crashed a helicopter into the side of a building just to save her team from killer robots, and because doing so was one hell of a dynamic entrance.

Cages Suck:
Sally spent most of her 'youth' that wasn't intense training of laboratory experiments locked in a cage. She really, really hates cages because of it. Really she hates the general idea of restriction and restraint, so it doesn't necessarily have to be a physical cage. Not being able to live by your own choices is also a cage of sorts. She gets increasingly irrate and fidgity, alternating between snapping and snarling at who or whatever has her compromised, and skulking miserably in a corner like a... well... caged animal.

Wanted Mutant:
Null Group would love to get their hands back on their 'property' (and for all the loss in revenue the ragtag mutant rebels have caused them). The people whom the project was developing for would also really like to aquire what they paid for. The Mutanimals have interferred with the Foot Clan's criminal operations enough times to be somewhere on their radar. There also may or may not be covert government operations trying to detain sources of the menance mutants supposedly contribute to.
