Fujibayashi Hanzou was a member of an ancient Japanese ninja assassin clan until they and his family were killed by a cryomancer of a rival Chinese assassin sect. Hanzou's hellbound soul was claimed by a demonic Lord of Hell, who resurrected him as the revenant Sasori and gave him the chance to avenge his family's deaths. Full of rage and hellfire, Sasori is now a Spirit of Vengeance, bringing Hell to the guilty and the damned, all the while seeking out his ancient nemesis who still lurks in the coldest shadows.
Timeline
Timeline:
* 1737: Born in a small village on the border of Omi and Iga prefectures in Japan, to shinobi
parents.
* 1745: First mission as a shinobi, simply being a distraction for an assassination
target.
* 1752: Undergoes his genpuku ceremony to be recognized as a man, taking on the name
Hanzou.
* 1760: After a shadow war to determine the successor of the shogun, Ieshige, Hanzou
takes control of his clan, succeeding his father.
* 1772: Hanzou takes a woman named Tomoe as his
wife.
* 1774: Hanzou and Tomoe see the birth of their firstborn son, named Masanori.
* 1787:
Hanzou and Tomoe give birth to their daughter, Iroha.
* 1789: Hanzou leads his ninja against the
Ainu people in the Menashi-Kunashir rebellion. Disgusted by the treatment of the Ainu, Hanzou
retires from active duty to live a peaceful life in seclusion.
* 1791: Hanzou, his family, and
their clan are invaded by an ancient Chinese rival sect of assassins. A cryomancer freezes Hanzou's
family and duels Hanzou, defeating him. Hanzou's soul descends to Hell.
* 2021: After 230 years
of endless battles against demons and damned souls, Hanzou draws the attention of a lord of Hell.
This demonic figure offers Hanzou a deal to become a Spirit of Vengeance and he will be given the
chance to avenge his clan against his ancient rival. Hanzou accepts and becomes the vengeful spectre
known as Sasori.

Personality
Honorable:
Perhaps the last vestige of the man that was Hanzou that still resides in the being known as
Sasori is a sense of honor. Sasori has no desire to inflict his pain on the world, and he still has
some instinctual sense of his warrior's code in life. He will not attack the innocent, the helpless
and infirm. It is this lingering beacon of humanity that keeps Sasori from becoming a true
monster.
Tortured:
Sasori is a being who spent nearly two and a half centuries in Hell, wracked with the knowledge
and guilt that he failed to protect his family and clan. His time spent in Hell has left deep,
irreparable scars on his soul. Sometimes he doesn't even know how to present himself as a human
being.
Vengeful:
Sasori is not just a vengeful ghost, but a full fledged Spirit of Vengeance. His soul has been
twisted by the powers of Hell to become something demonic, filled with rage. He is Wrath incarnate,
pitiless and unstoppable. He does not feel pain, remorse, hunger, or thirst. Wealth, fame,
compassion. None of these mean anything to him. He is Damned, and his job is to send the souls of
the Damned to Hell.

Powers
Chains of Hell:
As a Spirit of Vengeance, Sasori can manifest hell-forged chains of black metal that end in
kunai-styled daggers. He can control these chains via mental command, and they are able to grow up
to around 30 feet, and possibly more if Sasori strains or focuses on nothing else. Though these
chains are more durable than steel, they can be shattered and broken, though it doesn't seem as
though Sasori runs out of them.
Fiery Teleportation:
The Spirit of Vengeance that is Sasori is capable of teleporting his spectral mass in small
explosions of Hellfire. The limits of this teleportation are seemingly localized to around 100 feet
or so, and he must have line of sight to his destination. He can, with great effort, drag a single
person with him, though as his teleportation literally travels through Hell, this is often a
harrowing experience for whomever has the misfortune of traveling with him.
Hellfire:
As a Spirit of Vengeance, Sasori's very soul is infused with the flames of Hell. This gives him
the ability to generate gouts and torrents of the mythical soul-burning fire, often manifesting as
skull-faced projectiles or dragon's breath from his mouth. This fire harms beings on the spiritual
as well as the physical level, though beings without a soul are immune to it. It is, however, good
for roasting marshmallows and making smores.
Hellish Resolve:
Sasori, even in life, was possessed of, and nearly defined by his vast willpower. When he
marshals this resolve, it requires truly formidable force to sway Sasori. This is especially true
when it comes to the focus of his vengeful obsessions. This, as well as his ghostly nature, make him
extremely resistant to mind control, psionic illusions and other mental manipulations. Having an
iron will does not mean that he cannot be duped, however. Just that swaying his mind often takes
acts of cleverness over brute force.
Physical Prowess:
As a Spirit of Vengeance, Sasori's revenant body is gifted with exceptional strength, stamina
and durability. He's able to achieve astounding feats of strength, lifting up to a ton or more, and
making prodigious leaps from a standstill. He can run at peak human speeds, around 30 mph, with
short bursts of even greater speeds. He's able to work tirelessly, as his body has no longer a need
for food, water, or air, though he will get winded after prolonged extreme exertion such as in
battle. His body is capable of withstanding tremendous force, and impact damage from blunt objects,
explosions, and the like may only stun him for moments, but will not truly put him down. His agility
is his main asset, allowing him to perform inhuman feats of acrobatic skill, dodge bullets and
balance on thin ledges and tightwires effortlessly.
Spectral Body:
Sasori is a ghost made flesh, and a Spirit of Vengeance borne from Hell. His corporeal form is
not bound to the same laws of mortalkind. It is not blood and bone that reside under his skin, but
the flames of Hell itself. At times, especially during great rages, he sheds his flesh, and appears
as little more than a burning skeletal figure. The benefits of having a body like this is that he
does not need for food nor water, nor air. His body will rapidly heal from most wounds, given enough
time. And the more damaged he is, the longer that regeneration will take, as it is not the likes of
a mutant healing factor. However, should his form be completely destroyed, his soul simply spirals
back down into the pits of Hell, and over time, he will be able to reconstitute himself and return.
There are, of course, magical and divine means that can truly and permanently harm him, and possibly
even destroy him, but those means are rare and arcane.
Skills
Cooking:
Though it is little known now, in his mortal days the entirety of Hanzou's clan knew that the
only thing Hanzou was better at with a knife than killing, was cutting up in the kitchen! His
cooking skills are immaculate, and he really knows how to throw a nice flambé on a savory dish. One
might even say that his dishes are hella fire!
Ninja Warrior:
Sasori is a warrior and a fighter, and his mastery of martial arts extends beyond one form or
style. Instead, during his life, Sasori studied many styles from his native homeland, the Okinawa
islands, Korea and China. This has resulted in Sasori having a fully comprehensive fighting form
that is balanced and custom tailored to play to his strengths and mitigate his weaknesses. His
uppercuts are the stuff of legend. Two and a half centuries spent in endless warfare among the
denizens of Hell have only served to hone Sasori's techniques, and turn his personal style from a
thing of elegance to a brutal and efficient marriage of technical excellency and fiendish
savagery.
Sasori isn't just an unarmed fighter. In fact, for all of his brutal skill with his
fists, he's more well known for his skills at Kenjutsu, specializing in using the traditional daisho
set of a katana and wakizashi used by the samurai of old. Be it single or dual sword style, Sasori
is a world class contender with blades in his hands. Still, his legend stems yet still for his skill
with the kunai and chain, from where his moniker Sasori, or Scorpion, comes from. With a throwing
dagger, Sasori is truly someone to be feared. He is able to use these weapons to extreme, deadly
efficiency both in close quarters and at range. His throwing accuracy is uncanny and almost
preternaturally precise. This is now only enhanced with his hellish connection to his chained kunai
as a Spirit of Vengeance.
Shinobido:
Sasori was a legendary ninja in his mortal life, and those skills carry through to him today. He
is a master of the art of stealth, remaining unseen and unheard, vanishing without a trace, and
stalking targets.
Terrifying:
Simply put, Sasori is a vengeful spirit who stands at over six feet and either looks like a
ninja from hell, or a literal burning skeleton. Given his wrathful disposition, this only culminates
in Sasori being a natural when it comes to terrifying people. Often whether or not he even means to.
Resources
Hellfire Chain:
A a Spirit of Vengeance, Sasori holds command of a chain made of iron forged of damned souls in
the depths of Hell. This chain is supernaturally attuned to him and obeys his commands, and is
capable of igniting with Hellfire, or just simply punching through a foe, grappling them, and
pulling them towards Sasori. Its supernatural nature means that it can cut through most mundane
materials with ease, though more advanced materials such as vibranium, adamantium, nth metal, etc
are more resilient to it, as well as perhaps mystically enhanced objects.
Weaknesses
Archaic:
Hanzou was a man who lived over two centuries ago. Needless to say, a lot has changed since
then. He does not understand modern technology. The bustle of cities and their lights and sounds are
unnerving and disorienting to him. He wouldn't even be able to begin to understand the concept of a
smartphone, nor does he understand how to operate vehicles or other pieces of technology that have
come about since the industrial revolution.
Devil In the Details:
Sasori's powers and his ability to exist on Earth as a vengeful ghost stem from a deal that he
struck with a powerful figure in Hell. As such, these gifts can be taken away, should his Hellish
benefactor wish to do so. This means that, ultimately, Sasori has to toe the line, so to speak, to
his demonic master, lest his entire purpose in unlife be ripped away from him, and his soul sent
screaming back into the pit.
Inexperienced:
While Hanzou is a very experienced fighter and killer, his resurrection as a Spirit of Vengeance
is new and fresh. He still hasn't truly grown into his full potential, making him somewhat weaker
overall than one might expect of a Ghost Rider. With time, as he grows accustomed to this new
existence, he will likely grow into his powers and even discover new ones that he still doesn't know
that he possesses. But for now, he's just a ghost coming to grips with a new paradigm.
Obsessive:
Sasori is obsessed with his quest for vengeance for his clan and family. This makes him have a
sort of tunnel vision. Moreover, as a spirit of vengeance, he has a sort of encoded obsession with
visiting vengeance upon any guilty souls that prey on others, even when it might interfere with
whatever else he might be doing. He feels compelled, supernaturally, to visit justice on the wicked
and send their stained souls on to their fate in Hell. Anyone who discovers these obsessive
compulsions will find Sasori rather easy to manipulate and coerce.
