Shirlee Bryant was the first woman to become the Cat. She might have been a superhero, like her counterpart Greer Nelson, but fate set her on a different path. Out of uniform, she is a stunningly beautiful young woman, and she uses that to make people think the best of her. In uniform, her mask makes her resemble the cat-headed Egyptian goddess Bast.

Timeline:
* 1987: Born and raised in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
* 2005: Scouted by a photographer, the pretty blond cheerleader moved to Chicago. She appeared in magazine pictorials and pinup calendars but never broke into the mainstream or the big money.
* 2012: Malcolm Donalbain found her at a meet-and-greet and hired her as the spokes-person for his proposed nationwide chain of fitness spas. After he agreed to sponsor University of Chicago Professor Joanne Tumolo's private experiment, he volunteered Shirlee as its guinea pig. They succeeded beyond expectations. Shirlee developed super-human physical and mental abilities.

Timeline2:
* 2013: For a year, Shirlee layed low, shadowing Greer Nelson (her arch-rival) and committing robberies to build a bankroll and fund her lifestyle. If someone saw her, they would think it was Greer in the Cat uniform. Toward the end of this period, Greer and the Cat disappeared (she'd been transformed into Tigra and relocated to the West Coast).
* 2014: With her competitor gone, Shirlee set the Cat loose on a major crime spree. Beside the cash she accumulated, she collected secrets that allowed her to blackmail her way into the corrupt power structure of Chicago.
* 2015: Greer relocated to New York and Shirlee decided to follow her. She used her contacts in the underworld to establish her bona fides there. She retired her Cat alter ego temporarily. Toward the end of this period, Patsy Walker became the Hellcat and Shirlee brought the Cat out of retirement.
* 2017: Hellcat wrote a book, "The Hellcat Chronicles", and Shirlee learned the background of Dr. Tumolo's and Greer's conspiracy against her. She engineered Dr. Tumolo's death in New Orleans, plunging Greer into a year's long depression. Then she set her sights on Patsy. Patsy's ambition to join the Avengers was thwarted and she disappeard from public sight.
* 2020: Greer joined the Avengers, putting her back in Shirlee's list of enemies.

Shirlee has become more aggresive since gaining powers. She doesn't put up with treatment she used to have to grin and bear.

Perceptive:
Her enhanced senses and intelligence allow her to discover more clues and fill in the blanks with inferences. She's very smug about this.

Privilege:
Shirlee tends to think of herself as deserving more than she's achieved so far in life.

Socialite:
Shirlee grew up having to play up to those with higher social standing. Now she plays the part herself, mingling at political and social events with ease. With her augmented aural and vocal skills, she can adopt an accent or drop one at will.

Shirlee's enhanced strength also allows her to run on par with an Olympic athlete. she can maintain a 20mph pace for hours, and sprint even faster.

Shirlee's vision has been enhanced to match a predatory animal. Her visual acuity is roughly 5 times that of a human.

Shirlee's strength has been boosted to that of the finest Olympic athletes. She can clean and press 800lb.

Martial Arts:
Shirlee has no formal training, but uses the martial arts she has seen on TV and film to create her own synthesis. She also incorporates elements of her gymnastics training and dance in her fighting.

Cat Ears:
The ears molded into the cowl are acoustically coupled to her ears, giving the wearer more sensitivity and greater directionality. She can hear a normal conversation from the other side of a city block, and tell where the conversation is taking place within a foot.

Cat Eyes:
The eye coverings of her cowl enhance her field of view and night vision, making it extremely difficult to sneak up on her. She can see as well as a cat in the dark.

Claws:
Her gloves and boots have hardened steel claws, allowing her to climb by digging into concrete walls or steel beams. The claws on her gloves can also be detached and cast on 30-foot cables as grappling hooks, allowing her to swing from one building to the next.
