Tabby in the Woods
Date of Cutscene: 06 August 2021
Location: Woods Behind Xavier's
Synopsis: After the events of Shi'ar: Night of the Raptors, while everyone else is back at the mansion dealing with the aftermath Tabitha deals with some of her own demons out in the woods.
Cast of Characters: Tabitha Smith

James Proudstar: "This place is as safe as any other...safer than most."
Tabitha Smith: "Genosha was supposed to be safe, too."

The words echo through Tabby's head as she wanders through the woods behind Xavier's on her own.

'I should go back. Somebody's going to be wondering where I am.' Even as she thinks it, an image of John Proudstar's face dead on the ground in that trooper armor flashes through her mind and instead of going back to the mansion, she just keeps making her way through the woods, tossing little plasma bombs ahead of her as she goes. They aren't big enough to cause any serious damage though some of the tree lovers might be pissed at her later.

They aren't big enough to cause any serious damage because the rational part of Tabitha Smith's brain knows perfectly well there's nothing to find, but at the moment those echoing words and that flashing face have got the flight part of her fight or flight wanting to run.

Run, like she did from the home where Marty Smith was beating her for being what she is when she heard there was a safe place for mutants in New York.

Run, like she did to Genosha when being a mutant in America got too hard.

But, she just got back and Jimmy wants to try and see if there's something there and Kitty is going to help her finally graduate like she should have done back when Jimmy and the rest of her class did. And if she's not going to run, she'd got to get this done. She's got to prove to herself that this fear is a lie. That despite the Shi'ar attack Xavier's really is the safest place she can be.

That image flashes through her head again. She needs to prove to herself that there really aren't any more mysterious clones of John Proudstar roaming the woods tracking her. So Tabitha trudges through the woods alone while everyone else takes care of the school and making sure the kids are okay and patching up Lockheed and the other wounded and worrying about Jean's parents. It may be fruitless, but this she can do. This is the job that's not too big for Tabitha to worry about. Tonight, the woods around Xavier's will be safe and Tabitha Smith will make sure it's so, one handful on tiny plasma bombs at a time.
