Valkyrie

The Valkyrie, also known as the Daughters of Odin, are among the most elite and admired of Asgard's warriors. There are less than a dozen in total, and many of them are groomed for many years before being selected for this most esteemed position. Even being in the livery of the Valkyrie or serving as a squire or page is considered a great honor.

Individual Valkyries are akin to commandos. They have their own strengths and tactics and are accustomed to both working alone or commanding troops. Few in Asgard have the authority to overrule a Valkyrie's command in the field, and their mere presence at the front of a war host galvanizes troops with fresh hope and invigorated morale.

The most sacred charge of the Valkyrie is to act as a psychopomp for the fallen Asgardian dead. They guide the deceased to Helheim, where they are judged and sorted to the various realms of eternity that await those souls.
