Zeta radiation, or 'Zeta Beams', are an emission made of subatomic quarks kept in an exotic energy state. When these emissions contact normal matter, they affect the p-brane resonance of the constituent atoms and briefly forces them out of synchronization with the rest of the universe.

Zeta radiation is always artificially created. Unrestrained quarks in normal space will automatically assemble themselves into hadrons. At lower energy levels, the quark bombardment can cause something to 'phase' in such a way that normal matter no longer efficiently interacts with the energized object. This is called a 'quarter-turn' by physicists. At higher energy levels, quantum valence values are inverted, causing attraction and reaction between phased and normal matter to become highly repulsive of the other state. This is a 'half turn' value. The chief utility of the zeta radiation is the 'full turn', where the matter state is so highly energized that the p-brane fields of the component superstrings become misaligned with the rest of the universe. This state is brief and difficult to achieve, requiring enormous amounts of energy to sustain. However this can be used for short-range teleportation, where the target and receiver locations have a brane-sympathetic charge deployed. Attuning these locations to one another via quantum entanglement allows phased matter to traverse vast distances near-instantaneously.

Zeta rays were developed as means of opening extradimensional portals on Earth, breaking past the p-brane alignment that numerically isolates one universe from the rest. This was a unique application of the Pym Particle, notably discovered by Hank Pym himself. When the Godlings use magic to traverse the paths of Yggdrasil (such as via the Bifrost), the chief component of that energetic state is a zeta radiation emission. The same principle allows the gods of New Genesis to use their boomtubes for the same end result.
