Heather Danielson     It's been a long day for Heather. She was on a shoot all day. And of course they wanted her in bathing suits in February. She was cold all day, and spent all of her down time with coats and sweats on in front of heaters. Why can't they do bathing suits on beaches in the summer?

Anyhow, she finished about an hour or so ago, and she finally had time to do what she took the job in New York to do. She'd read things online about a Sensei in Hell's Kitchen... or the basic vicinity of it. Rather than just hiring some high profile teacher, she wanted the real deal. And so it is that a knock comes at the door of the Dojo, with Heather in street clothes standing out front.
Colleen Wing It was the end of a long day. The first day of the re-opening of the dojo. Classes had not started back up but many of the former tudents and kids made sure they stopped by. Classes would begin again soon, and Colleen could not wait to get them underway. It was evening, and the Sensei found herself in a pair of sweat pants, a t-shirt and barefoot, sitting on her couch with a pint of icecream on her lap. Oh what goes on behind closed doors. She needed that time to relax and she knew once things got going again, this time would be a luxury.

Upon hearing the door, Colleen set the icecream down on the table in front of her and padded out to it, opening it slowly and giving a smile ro the figure on the other side. Could she look any more casual? Most likely not. "Hey. Can I help you? Please come in." She stepped away from the door and gestured into the interior of the dojo. "It's cold out there." She raised a hand to tighten the ponytail that had started to come free.
Heather Danielson     Winter coat warming her, and bright red St Louis Cardinals Baseball Cap on her head, Heather gives a smile before stepping inside. She reaches up to remove her hat. It's only polite to take one's hat off in another's home. As she does so, her honey blonde locks unfurl and drape down to just past her shoulders.

"Sorry to come at this hour, but I have literally been working since the sun rose today. And I needed to get a bunch of calories into me before heading out this way. But..." She glances about, noticing the ice cream near the sofa. Her brows lift and she adds, "Bad time to visit?"
Colleen Wing Colleen blinks a few times, shaking her head. "Bad time? No. Not at all. I was just um...making poor choices because I can." She tilts her head to the side, watching the blodn girl before her a moment before speaking again. "So what can I do for you? Is there a problem you need my help with? If that is the case I make no promises, but I will hear you out." Heather is given a wink and a smile as Colleen turns ot adjust a few of the wooden swords on the racks along the wall.

"Or were you seeking a lesson? If that is the case, just let me know what you are hoping to learn and I will see what I can do to make sure you learn it." She turns to address her face to face. "Working all day long? What exactly do you do, if I may ask?"
Heather Danielson     Chuckling, Heather shakes her head. "Well, it's less about help. I just.. it's weird. It's difficult to approach my colleagues about this at times. But... I've had the most basic self defense training there is.. and I have two careers. One of which really requires me to improve my combat skills."

And then the question about what she does for work. "Well.. the work today was modeling. That only requires basic self defense to ward off perverted agents and stalkers. But the other job... is with the Titans."

She offers a hand and says, "My name is Heather Danielson, but when I wear spandex, they call me... I know it's cheesy but.. Knockout."
Colleen Wing Coleen extend her hand to shake it, a platful smirk tugging at her lips at the explaination of the nickname. "Knockout? I assume that has a double meaning...I mean spandex and all. Clearly a name referring to your appearance and your abilities? And with the Titans? Well, cannot say I have had the pleasure of ever working with many of them."

She holds up a hand and counts off the names of what she specializes in, before introducinh herself properly. "Colleen Wing. And welcome to Chikara Dojo. I can help you with Karate, Kempo, Ninjutsu or Kenjustsu, which is sword work. I mean if you wante the basic self-defense, Karate may be the way to go." She eyes the girl with a narrowed eye, considering her before asking. "So how much experience do you have? Are we starting from the bottom?"
Heather Danielson     Inclining her head, Heather asks, "Isn't Ninjitsu the art of invisibility and night an actual combat style?" But she shakes her head, "I mean, I am not an expert on any of this, but... something designed for unarmed.. I've heard of Kempo, and Karate. Whatever you think would work best for someone with augmented strength and a stupidly fast ability to heal."

She shrugs, "I have managed to hold my own, but that's just because of my augmented abilities. I'd really like to be more than just that and yeah... when my powers manifested, some reporter on the site gave me the stupid moniker. But I couldn't avoid it after that. It stuck no matter what I did."
Colleen Wing A hand goes to rub her face. "Oh did I say Ninjutsu? I meant Jujutsu. Yeah, nig difference there. Not training ninjas here. Tho, I do like the idea of that." She shrugs and nods once. "I think basic Karate would work well for you. You just want to be able to hit things with some defense. I think we can make that work for you."

She shakes her head with another small smile. "You gotta love the media. They come up with a name and after using it a few times with some catchy phrase you are forever known whether you like it or not. I mean I suppose there could be worse names? And Knockout does make you sound like you are a hottie. I actually kind of like it."

Her eyes take in Heather once more. "Are you looking to start this evening? I mean I suppose you are dressed for some basic stuff, simple strikes and defenses."
Heather Danielson     "I could start any time really. But.." She tilts her head, "Jujutsu involves grappling and holds right?" A pause, and she adds, "So, what sort of damage do you think eleven point five tons of lifting strength could do with that?" She asks with a smirk. "But yeah, the most basic stuff would be best to start with, but I'd love to visit for weekly, or maybe bi-weekly lessons, so long as you can handle putting up with teaching a public superhero."

She glances about the dojo once more and grins. "I really -do- like your place though. It's nice... has the -genuine- feel to it really. Old school, like Mister Miyagi... and I know that's so stereotypical and presumptuous of me... sorry."
Colleen Wing "Yeah. Holds, throws..paralyzing strikes. You know what, we can hybrid train you to fit your needs. I mean it is not everday that someone comes seeking some training that can lift over ten tons. Usually you hit things and there is no real need to make sure you hit in the right place." She raises a hand to tuck a strand of black hair behind her ear. "We can do bi-weekly if you want. Evenings might work better. Or earlier in the day. Once shcool lets out the afternoons are pretty full with classes, or they will be again."

Her eyes scan the main room of the dojo. "I tried to make it the way it was before the fire. The simplisitic dojo. Nothing fancy. Keep it genuine and let the sweat hit the floor. You have no reason to be sorry, Mr. Miyagi was a legend. If my dojo reminds you of him, then I have achieved the look I was going for. Okay, money had a lot to do with that, a lot to do with that."
Heather Danielson     Smirking a bit, Heather shrugs, "Well, for starters I should also make sure you know that I am totally willing to -pay- for your services. And not only pay, but pay well. Besides... you might need some special and extra-durable gear. I mean a heavy bag might rupture if I hit it. So if I provide the funding or the gear... can you be my Sensei?" she asks.

But she walks further inside and adds, "Maybe I should learn something about fighting with sticks or some such. I mean I can heal fast, but I might need to block a blade or something now and then."
Colleen Wing "Yeah, let's not destroy my dojo. Can you tone your strikes a bit, or are they always on full power? I mean, when you hit something, I asm assuming it is destroyed. I can promise you that my equipment here is not going to withstand that at all. If you have anything you want to bring in, then I can store for you. Not everday I have someone coming in here seeking my teaching that has the ability you have."

At the mention of fighting with a stick, Colleen smiles and claps her hands together lightly in front of her. "No we are talking. I could teach you some sword skills, kind of my specialization. Takes a while to be really good, but I could teach you the basics to strike and defend." She gestures to the wooden swords on the racks. "COuld practice with those, as long as you do not swing too too hard. You want a Sensei, I would be glad to take you on as a student."
Heather Danielson     Smiling, Heather nods, "I'd invite you to Titans Tower, but that might be awkward. I would be more comfortable learning in a Dojo, not just in a super gym. Something about it would just feel more genuine."

And Heather turns her eyes to regard the wooden swords, "Are those.. what is the word.. bokken?" she asks. "I was thinking of using something like batons, or Askima... Escrima? sticks made of titanium or something." she adds with a shrug, "But.. it's entirely your call Sensei. I'll do what you need... and when you have the gear, it's yours to use for any other students you might use it for."
Colleen Wing Colleen smiles when Heather correctly names the Bokken on the rack. "Yeah. most of them are generic for the students to use. They serve their purpose. No live blades in here, cannot have a lawsuit on my hands if a student was to get hurt." She takes one of the bokken from the rack and gives it a few twirls before her with a fluid motion of her wrist before putting it back on the rack. "I can get escrima. I had a few set, but lost them in the fire. Would you be more interested in those? I typically stay with wood, but in your case we could get titanium ones for your use out there."

She leans against the wall casually, watching Heather as she speaks. "I don't teach anywhere else. Call it an honor thing. My lessons are in my own dojo, thats why my classes stopped. There is something about this space that I have created, I am not sure I would feel comofrtavble at Titan Tower." She shrugs. "I will make sure you have private lessons. Nobody will know you are taking them, as discretion is important to me."
Heather Danielson     Nodding her head, Heather watches the expertise and comfort in the weapon twirls. It reminds her of Nightwing's easy confidence. It makes her feel even better too. She nods about the sticks, "I understand the desire to use traditional wood for sticks. But... if I hit something and the stick shatters rather than the target... that would be what my daddy would call... Suboptimal."

But then she looks about the room once more, nodding. "It does feel right. Your lessons, your school. It makes sense to me. It makes -total- sense really." And she grins, "And trust me, I appreciate discretion. Long as I don't lead Paparazzi to your front door, we'll be good. I just want it to be a fair exchange. So, I'll see about acquiring some of the gear we use at the Tower and we'll go from there."
Colleen Wing Colleen listens to everything she has to say and her suggestions, nodding slowly. She walks over to the a small table just inside the curtain leading into her living area and pulls out a business card, offering it to her. "So here is how we can do this. You secure everything you need in terms of special equipment and when you do, give me a call and we can do a night time delivery. I can keep it in the corner away from everything else as long as there is not a huge amount of it." She gestures to a empty spot in the corner of the dojo.

"Titanium escrima would be best. I am just not in any place to afford those. The training should be the same tho, the material does not matter. If you can get those, you can certainly keep them for your everday use. Deal?" She walks back over to Heather and places a hand on her shoulder. "I think this will be nenficial for the both of us. I can promise you, by the time you are done your classes, you will be well-skilled in unarmed combat as well as the escrima. Tho, I will admit I have not used those for a really long time. "
Heather Danielson     "When we get to that point, what do you say to me giving you credit as my sensei? It might give you some PR. Increase business and all. Trust me, I know a little something about exposure." says Heather.
She grins and looks to the hand on her shoulder. "I do need to say, it's nice to be treated like a person, rather than someone on a pedestal. Or even some sort of meat in front of a camera. Thank you for that."
Colleen Wing She pulls the hand off Heather's shoulder and gives her a smile. "I treat everyone like a person. You have to earn my respect and trust, I do not simply give it because you have a name that says you should." She shrugs and then adds. "I am sure you make the camera look good. Have not ever done anything like that before. Not sure I would like it."

At the mention of some PR, Heather is given another smile. "I will take any PR you can get me. I am not in it for the money, but the publicity might go far to maybe help the kids and less fortunate around here. I am not the best at marketing. You know, flyers on lamp posts and such. "
Heather Danielson     "I also do a lot of charity work. Maybe I could help out there. If you like, I could help with like.. food drives run out of your dojo. Make it so the neighborhood knows you are helping the community, not just running a business." offers Heather as she tilts her head. "Maybe give away winter coats when it's cold... of course, the charities I work with would be providing the materials... that is, if it's something that interests you."

And she's totally off topic now, fully engaged in charity goodwill mode. "I think word of mouth would do better for things like that than any flyers."
Colleen Wing "Any help would be welcome. I can use the dojo as a place for anything involving charity should we want to do it. I do a lot of free classes for kids during the week. They can't afford them and it keeps them off the streets after school. Gives them some self-confidence and good values. Just doesn'r always keep the lights on, you know?"

She considers what Heather has said for a moment before speaking again. "If you have any charity ideas, let me know. We can set up anything we want in here, even a bake sale." She shakes her head with a smile. "If you ever want to do a photo shoot here, I think it owuld be pretty awesome. A little tough girl look?"
Heather Danielson     "Well, one idea... some of those kids, have -them- help with the charity events. Recruit -their- friends for the next one. Make it a community effort. With your dojo as the hub of it." suggests Heather. "It'll resonate with the people you are helping, and it'll give those same people you are trying to keep off the streets, an even more compelling reason to be involved. Trust me, once they realize how good it feels to help others... most of them will be almost addicted to it."

And then she grins and nods, "I think we could document the lessons for release down the road. Knockout learning how to knock out her opponents?"
Colleen Wing " I am all in on those charity events. Anything I can do do help the famlies and youth in the city. I think we could do a lot of good that way. We will need to talk about it more at length I think. Order some food, sit down and press out the details when we feel we want to get the ball rolling. I am sure we will get a lot of support, these kids are dedicated and if it has to do with the dojo they will all be on board."

She looks to Heather and pats her on the shoulder one more time. "Don't mean to keep you. Let me know when you want start. I will makre sure we can make it happen."
Heather Danielson     "I should get back to my hotel. I need another meal." mutters Heather. She smirks, "One side effect of my whole... augmentations as you might call them.. I need like ten times the normal calories to fuel my healing and strength. If I don't eat, I start ... let's just say it's not fun for me."

She reaches up a hand to place on the one upon her shoulder, "Thank you again Sensei. I look forward to learning from you. I'll be in touch very soon. Also, if you ever need a Titan, you've got one."
