Helena Wayne It's been a while since Helena Wayne took the chance and visited Wayne Manor. It's not HER Wayne Manor, but this alternate-dimension version is really close enough. Close enough that Alfred was certainly pretty much universal. And welcoming. And his tea was awesome.

Tonight when she rides her motorcycle up to the mansion she's likewise greeted by Alfred, who she hugs warmly. There's a sparkle in the butler's eye when comments that she's looking a bit thin, and suggests that she simply 'help herself' to the kitchens.

She knows the way, of course. And it's a close enough parallel to be easy to find. Along the way Helena wonders whether the Bat Cave entrance is still in the same place. She opens the door. The black-haired woman is dressed in straight-leg jeans tucked into motorcycle boots just below the knee. The leather jacket is worn open, a purple silk blouse beneath it.
Julia Pennyworth In the kitchen is not the scent of tea as one might expect given Alfred often keeps such things at the ready. It's coffee. An equally alluring scent that was often in this kitchen, though not necessarily at this time of day. The woman currently waiting impatiently while staring at the pot was still adjusting to the time zone differences so a cup was exactly what she needed.

Having purloined one of the mugs from the cupboard that likely 'belonged' to one of the Bat Kids she shifts it between hands while that precious drip of dark liquid starts to fill the pot. Julia was dressed rather casually in a worn pair of combat boots, jeans, and a simple white t-shirt which declared 'SUPREME' in block letters. Apparently this was fashionable somewhere in the world.

Hearing the approaching footsteps of Helena her attention shifts to the woman whom she greets with a simple upnod. "H'lo."
Dick Grayson     Coming in another of the doorways is the pair of Dick Grayson and Stephanie Brown. They are both in sweats and t-shirts with wet hair. He's got his arm around her waist and a smile on his lips as he murmurs quietly to her "So where do you want to go tomorrow? Anywhere you've always wanted to go?"

He pauses a moment as he notices the two women already in the kitchen, then raises his voice to a normal speaking volume to say, "Hi Julia, Helena, didn't know you guys were visiting. How are things going for the two of you?"
Stephanie Brown Stephanie laughing as she and Dick walk in together, and leans against him as he talks to her quietly. "You know, I'm not normally a fancy restaurant sort of girl," she replies to him. Which he no doubt knows. "But, I wouldn't mind going to the Podium," she says, mentioning one of the hottest dining spots, over in the theater district. "Seen a few broadcasts of charity events from there and it seemed like it would be a really nice place for a special occasion," she tells him.

The blond coed looks up and sees the others in the kitchen. "Hey there," she says warmly. Stephanie looks over to Julia, smiling to her before her eyes go to over to a face that is more familiar. Stephanie gives Helena a friendly wave. "Hey there," she greets the other young woman. "Just finished up a swim," she comments, they seeming to have used the mansion's indoor pool.
Austin Reese Apparently getting noticed by Batman gets you a lot of strange packages. First was the one with the suit in it. Then another package. This one had a smart phone with coordinates pre-programmed into it and the same glowy Bat logo as the last time.

Imagine Austin's surprise when he pulled his motorcycle in front of Wayne freaking Manor. Though it makes sense, who else would have the kinda money it takes to afford all this stuff.

He was even more surprised when the gate opened. Undetered, he wandered inside.

He had been wandering the halls for a few minutes before he heard voices, and a moment later his head sticks around the corner of one of the doors, "Uh. Hey there."
Julia Pennyworth As more people start to filter in Julia pauses in her juggling of the mug between her hands. The ding of the coffee pot being finished brewing finally saves her having to come up with more small talk for the half second it takes her to scoop the pot off the burner to fill the mug up. "Oi. Don't go dripping water around in here, someone could slip," she points out to the just-swum pair that were hugging on one another like they were about to snog any second now.

A good long sip of coffee is taken in spite of the burn. Then she raises the cup toward everyone in greeting as she turns on her heel to lean her hip against the counter. "H'lo there," she greets the somewhat confused Austin. Since Dick had already said her name she shrugs, and offers out, "I'm Julia. Just in from across the pond so you'll have to excuse me if I'm a bit bleary." There's a short pause before she adds. "There's coffee left if anyone needs."
Helena Wayne Helena Wayne gives pause at the smell of coffee instead of tea, then she is greeted by an unfamiliar young woman. Definitely wasn't a Julia in her home-dimension version of Wayne Manor. "Pleased to meet you, Julia." she replies. "I'm Helena. Coffee smells good." Last name omitted to keep the confusion to a minimum.

The swimmers enter, then, and she returns the greetings with a smile of her own. "Evening." she adds, stepping past Julia to rummage around for a mug of her own. Austin would've seen the large, purple street beast belonging to Helena when he pulled up. At least it's a fair bet that it's hers, given that she's got the boots and jacket for it. She turns when he peeks in. "Oh, hi there."
Cassandra Cain Eyes from the darkness stare at Dick and Stephanie. If body language could talk, those eyes would read allllll the things. And given that in this case that's exactly what is happening, it's good that Cassandra doesn't mind the idea of them being together right now.

A hand reaches out and places a cup in front of Helena while her back is turned. World's Okayest Dad? Sure. Why not.

Then Cass slips back into hiding.
Stephanie Brown At the offer of coffee, Stephanie holds up a hand in a manner to suggest she'll hold off on the beverage, though she gives Julia a grateful enough expression. "I'm Stephanie," she offers towards Julia. "And I could eat a... I'd say water buffalo but with Damian around I don't have great confidence I wouldn't actually end up being given some," she comments.

She pats Dick on the back and heads for the fridge, asking Julia, "And, how do you know...?" she asks, motioning with a little twirl of her finger as if so the statement could be filled in with whomever it is Julia is connected to.

She looks up then as Austin comes to the door of the kitchen. "Oh, hey there," she says to him, offering him a bright smile. "I'm Stephanie," she offers for the second time in the last minute. "Hungry? I'm just about to see if I can make myself a Dagwood," she tells Austin.
Austin Reese "So I'm not gonna lie." Austin says as he steps through into the kitchen proper, looking over the gathered group, the smell of fresh brewed coffee making him want some of it, "I have no idea what I expected when I came in here, but it wasn't this."

Still, he is hungry, "I could eat, yeah. And maybe get some of that coffee? Last coffee I had was from a corner bodega in the Narrows and I'm not convinced it was actually coffee."
Julia Pennyworth "I get the feeling that's pretty standard for most of this 'family'." Julia tips her mug which says 'Superstar' on it toward Austin indicating the cupboard that the mugs are from. Just as Cassandra passes a mug over to Helena earning a thoughtful gaze at the rather quiet ninja-like girl. "Sneaky that one." A light smile tugs at her lips. One more sip of coffee is drunk before she looks back to Stephanie to respond.

"I'm just here visiting good old dad. He doesn't leave the city much to visit after all. Bit of a workaholic that he is. All honor and dutybound talk."

Was she insinuating BRUCE was her dad? It couldn't be, could it? Then again... Maybe? She was close to Dick's age from the looks of it.

Julia lets that hang a moment to see how the 'detectives' in the room respond before she gives a half-amused snort. "Julia Pennyworth, at your service. If you're making sammies, I'll take one too."
Helena Wayne Helena Wayne turns back towards the counter... where did this mug come from? She knows a thing or two about burgling (or even reverse-burgling, in this case), so a dark brow lifts as she fills the mug. "Coffee smells great...." Pause. Familiar voice and build, back from the Halloween school reunion. "... Austin, right? And relax; we're all human here."

Including whoever is setting out coffee mugs when no one is looking.

"I'm Helena, by the way." She steps clear of the fridge to give Steph first go at it. Pennyworth? A smirk touches her lips, then. "Helena Wayne, while we're putting last names on things."

Wait-what?
Cassandra Cain In any other room, Cass might be able to get away with that kind of thing. In this room however, she's now given away her presence and there are no shadows deep enough for a person to hide in. Even if she is fair to middling at it. So instead of staying hidden (impossible anyway) she stands up from behind the counter and grasps a clean glass. Which she fills with cold water from the tap, then turns and sips it while looking at the crowd.
Stephanie Brown One of Stephanie's eyebrows go up. "Ah, didn't realize Alfred had kids," she replies to Julia. "I'm going to have to get some stories out of him, I can see," she says as she makes her way to the fridge. "Alright, that's three sandwiches," she says, motioning Austin further into the room. "Take a seat if you'd like." His presence doesn't seem to surprise her, but neither is anyone talking about certain things openly at the moment.

The fridge door is opened and Stephanie starts pulling out all sorts of things for sandwiches. Cuts of meat, tomatoes, blocks of cheese, condiments, lettuce, a few other containers that she peeks in first before setting them to the side.

The door finally is swung shut and Stephanie goes to the pantry and selects some bread, returning with a nice soft rye that has a beautifully colored swirl to it. "Oh hey Cass," Stephanie says with a smile towards the Asian girl. Stephanie pulls out a knife, motioning with it towards a tomato and then offering the handle to Cass with body language that suggests she's asking for some help.
Austin Reese Austin moves to grab one of the mugs that he was directed to, "I suppose I should introduce myself. I'm Austin. Austin Reese." He nods to Helena, though the last name Wayne kinda throws him off. He never figured Bruce Wayne for the settling down and having kids type.

"So if it's not obvious I only recently got invited to this party. I suppose I should have figured it out since it does make sense when you think about it." He takes a second to look at the mug he grabbed, tilting his head at it for a second, wondering how a Stark Industries branded mug got in here, but he shrugs and pours himself some coffee.
Cassandra Cain Having been planning to leave, Cass pauses at the motion from Steph. Her eyes flick around the room, then she shrugs and reaches for the knife and the tomato proferred by her compatriot. A moment of expectation later and Cass, the human weapon, simply places the tomato down and performs perfectly normal knife slices, making it into reasonable size slices for use in sammiches. No magic nor incredible showy moves. To be fair, the room is a little full for that kind of thing. Someone'd get stabbited.

She does look up at Helena, and at Austin and Julie. She may seem familiar. Unless you live here in which case I'd damn well hope so.

A single glance toward Steph suggests that she's done with this, and to toss her more materials for crafting.
Julia Pennyworth "Wayne, huh?" Julia looks Helena over a single time as if she were seeking out any signs of who he might have had a kid with. Unfortunately she does not know Selina. It's a waste of time. Instead she nods toward her with a grin. "Gathering of the families it seems. I'm the only Pennyworth kid that I'm aware of, though," she points out looking back toward Stephanie offering over a bit of a shrug.

Her attention shifts to watch Cassandra slice the tomato in an entirely normal way. It's the sort of half-asleep-trying-to-be-awake stare one has before the caffiene has fully kicked in. A quick shake of her head forces her to focus again. "Good t'meet you Austin. Helena, and Stephanie." Everyone's name is said in turn commiting them to memory for later. "Apparently dad and me mum shacked up when Bruce was out on his world tour as a teen. Don't know that he'd have the time otherwise. Could be wrong."
Helena Wayne Helena Wayne spots Cass now and the grin remains. Meeting the girl's gaze, she offers a small nod in greeting. And discreetly, she curls her off-hand into a tight fist before releasing. Helena takes her coffee black, and slowly sips while the sandwich process starts. Despite the 'reason' she was guided to the kitchens, she's not up for a sandwich raid.

"It's not what you think. Very long story." Yes, she noticed the reaction to 'Wayne'. "Think of me as more of a 'country cousin', if anything." If country cousins came from alternate dimensions.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown sets out the bread and adds lettuce before opening up the various meats that she pulled from the fridge. Roast beef goes on first, and then a layer of turkey on the other half of each sandwich. By that time Cassandra has the tomatoes cut. Stephanie takes those, passing Cassandra first the block of sharp cheddar, and the one of Swiss.

The blond is paying attention to the conversation even while making the sandwiches. "Well, just relax for now, and get some good food in you," she tells Austin. She's not sure what Julia knows or doesn't, so does her best to subtly keep the conversation from going too much further in certain directions. Stephanie grabs a small plate, adding a few dill spears to it, and sets it out over by Austin for him to munch on while the sandwiches are being made.
Cassandra Cain Cass reaches for a knife for the cheese. Then she looks at the room, frowning. Her eyes look between people, her crazy thoughts wondering things hidden behind the wall of speech. And then, with a slight shift of warning, she throws both knives across the room. One in each hand.

One goes for Stephanie's chest, the other one for Helena's face. She just threw knives at two people! Like, sharp things!
Austin Reese Austin takes a seat near the kitchen island, waiting paitiently for Stephanie to make food. It looks real good from where he's at.

Imagine his surprise when suddenly knives start flying. Knives sailing through the air is definitely not a standard thing he's used to. Usually it's bullets.
Stephanie Brown A table knife is used by Stephanie to spread some spicy brown mustard on the side with the turkey. One sandwich, two sandwiches, three sandwiches. The lid goes back on the mustard and she wipes the knife clean on the bread.

That little shift in body language from Cassandra pulls Stephanie's head up. She has nothing even comparable to Cassandra's ability to read people like that. But she knows Cassandra.

The knife flies through the air towards her, spinning at a rate that will have the blade pointing at Stephanie in the moment it hits. The blond reaches up, catching the knife by the handle just before it reaches her chest.

Blue eyes look across at Cassandra, but Stephanie just turns then and uses the knife to cut a few slices of black forest ham, adding them to each sandwich.

Cheese is cut and added, and then Stephanie assembles the sandwiches with a third slice of rye right in the middle. They are adorned with more pickles on the side, and some of Alfred's homemade crinkle cut potato chips. She sets the plate down in front of Austin, and one for herself, and Dick's at the table as well.
Helena Wayne Helena Wayne is raising her coffee to sip when she catches the glint of steel flying towards her face. Several options for dealing with it come to mind, but one thought is at the forefront.

Silk blouse, Helena! Don't spill the coffee!

She pauses mid-sip to take a side-step. It's almost too smooth to be so quick, and with her other forearm she deflects the thrown knife up towards the ceiling. Helena manages not to spill the coffee or cut the sleeve of her leather jacket in the process.

To be fair, it's probably not the first time a knife ended up in the kitchen ceiling, either.

Helena finishes her sip, giving Cass a curious look. "Enjoy your sandwiches, everyone. I'm going to do a little exploring." And with that, Helena steps out.
Cassandra Cain Cass actually makes a small clap, her elbows in close to her body. Two claps for two people. She then snags a slice of tomato and slips it into her own mouth, letting her little test go with that. She seems impressed from the look on her face. Maybe even proud.

Then she picks up her water glass and sips. If anyone had any doubt about the content of the room though, there is no longer much of it to be doubted. This room is full of 'active individuals'.
