Owner Pose
Cassie Sandsmark It's a bright, if slightly cold, day in Manhattan. The last bites of winter are still desperately clinging on as the temperature trends towards being warmer. And after a morning workout session, Cassie Sandsmark is treating her student in Amazon fighting techniques, Phoebe Beacon, to one of her favorite restaurants in Manhattan: Cotz's Deli in Midtown. Here, the pastrami and corned beef are piled two inches thick on rye bread, along with delicious deli salads made fresh. "You're gonna love this place," Cassie tells Phoebe excitedly. "Best sandwich place in Manhattan, hands down."

Across the street from Cotz's, though, is the Midtown branch of the Manhattan Savings Bank. And a non-descript van pulls into a parking slot nearby, letting a group of men out unnoticed by the blonde Amazon as her thoughts are focused on the lunch feast about to commence.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe Beacon had been working hard, coming by on a teacher's workshop day specifically to learn from another teacher -- admittedly, after aikido training in the early morning. For someone who joked her stamina wasn't up to snuff, she certainly does a whole lot.

The dark-haired, dark-skinned girl had hemmed and hawed a little bit about just what to order, and had settled with a grilled veggie rachel with swiss cheese. It's still two inches thick.

She had drawn herself to the counter, looking over at Cassie with a wry smile.

"I dunno, we have some pretty great delis in Gotham, but man, NYC sandwiches are *huge* compared to ours." she states, looking to the van as it pulls up.
Cassie Sandsmark With Phoebe's already considerable fighting training, Cassie mostly has been focusing on building up the woman's endurance and fighting with a staff or clubs; good impromptu weapons should Phoebe ever have the need. "I think everyone's partial to their own home town cuisine," Cassie says with a smile. "For me, New York is the best for everything. I mean, I'll take a Manhattan street cart gyro or falafel over what I can find in Athens any day." She giggles a bit and slides into the booth. "So, everything else going okay for you? Keeping up on exercises and stuff? Any questions about the non-fighting aspect of Themyscira?" Cassie is certianly an eager teacher, ready to promote the ideals of Themyscira anytime, anywhere.

And it's about that time that gunshots ring out inside the bank and the man from the van start securing the location. "Everyone down on their knees!" one of the men shouts out as he sends a spray of bullets into the ceiling. His compatriots quickly attack and subdue the guards on duty, and frightened patrons drop down to the floor as commanded.

Across the street at the deli, the muffled sound of automatic gunfire and screams wakes Cassie from her pastrami reverie. She looks over at the bank and notices the idling van. "Crud..." She looks back at Phoebe, a serious expression on her face. "That's my cue. Stay here or come with, it's your choice. I can handle a bank robbery, no problem, but some folks might need your healing powers after things are secure." Sliding out of the booth, Cassie starts to run out the door and towards the bank, removing her shirt as she does so to reveal the top of her Wonder Girl costume and her shining bracelets.
Phoebe Beacon     "New York is pretty great... and I'll give it that, the street food's loads better. You never can tell if there's something in the carts you're not supposed to eat --" the girl trails off, "Well, actually, I do have something I'd like to pick your brain about helping oth--" the dark-haired Beacon begins, and her head snaps, drawing down as the gunshots ring out. The screams and sounds of violence familiar, and she tenses -- but when Wonder Girl changes costume, Beacon follows suit -- pulling her hoodie up over her head, pulling out a beat-up domino mask and slipping it on, Beacon immediately follows after the more bullet-proof Wonder, drawing down low.

Gotham's superheroes aren't so loud and flashy. Most of the time, but she's not going to let Cassie wander into danger on her own!
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie leads with her shoulder, easily crashing through the bank's front door and slamming her body into one of the gunmen which sends him flying into a solid marble column with soft *crunch*. The three other gunmen turn in surprise and start firing at Wonder Girl. Cassie is almost a blur of motion as she defelcts the automatic gunfire harmlessly away with her bracers, and flies to plant herself directly between the gunmen and the larger group of hostages on the floor. As the gunfire subsides, she blocks one of the last bullets in a way that sends the riccochet into one of the robber's guns, disarming him. "I may not be very well know," Cassie says to the would-be thieves, "but the W symbol and the bracelets should give you guys a clue that this isn't going to go your way. So I suggest you all surrender now."
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe does not speak up. Her lips are pursed, her dark eyes narrowed as she darts in, fast and low. She may not blur, but there are momentary flashes of light. One gunman has his legs swept from under him. Another goes upside-down and flat-backs against the wall, the breath knocked out of him. His gun scoots away from his grasp as Phoebe kicks it-- taking out two who were entirely distracted by the Wonder Girl before the sweatshirt-wearing Beacon catches her breath, and draws to a stand.
Cassie Sandsmark With the flick of her wrist, Wonder Girl's lasso snakes out and magically encircles all of the gunmen at once. MOre colis loop around them, holding the theives in place. Cassie is about to speak when the sound of squealing tires is heard. "Oh yeah. Forgot about him..." Wonder Girl flies off to catch up with the van. Flying in front of the vehicle, she reaches back and punches down through the short hood, knocking the motor free from it's mounting and bringing the vehicle to a stop. "Please tell me you're not going to put up a fight like your buddies..." she says to the driver.

Back at the bank, the thieves are still secured in Cassie's magic lasso. But, there's another concern. Next to the teller windows, there's a scream from one of the bank employees, and an elderly co-worker next to her is starting to twitch and convulse. "Something's wrong with Mr. Simmons! Please help!!" The woman is looking around in a panic.
Phoebe Beacon     Beacon was about to turn and make an exit -- but she hears the plea for help.

And she turns, and makes her way to the teller and the elderly man. She looks at the man quietly, drawing him gently to the side as she sinks down to her knees. She exudes calm as she draws his head back slightly, making sure if Simmons has glases, they are off, taking off her hooded sweatshirt and folding it to slip under his head.

She doesn't bother to check pulse.

She closes her eyes, drawing her fingers closing in against him, and concentrates -- brilliant light drawing down her veins.
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie Comes flying back into the bank, carrying the driver by his belt and setting him down hear his associates. After trying him up with the lasso as well, Cassie looks over to Phoebe seeing her assisting a man on the floor. "How is he?" she asks with concern.

Before Phoebe can respond, though, the man opens his eyes and gasps, his coloration returning to normal and his termors subsiding. Phoebe can tell that the cardiac event that the man was having. SIrens of both NYPD and NYFD are heard approaching, and the bank security guards are slowly getting to their feet and working to secure the robbers.
Phoebe Beacon     She breathes out, Gotham's Beacon leaning back as her hands shudder slightly, and gently the girl whispers: "You're going to be all right, Mr. Simmons... you'll want to go to the hospital though and have your ticker checked." the kindly teenager states, and Phoebe offers a hand to the man, to help him up, taking back her sweatshirt, and turns back to Cassie.
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie also helps the gentleman up and brings him over to the paramedics rushing in. Once they are taking care of the general public and the police are dealing with the theives, Cassie returns to Phoebe and smiles brightly. "Good job," she says to the other woman. "I mean...I'm still amazed that Red Robin said you needed *more* fight training. You handled those two really well. Better than I could have when I started out."
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe gives a slight blush, and she rubs the back of her head a moment, and quietly replies: "Well. There is a difference when everyone is looking at your partner-du-jour and not you." she gives a wry little smile, pulling her hoodie further down to hide more of her face.

"Besides, I got very lucky this time. No one shot me."
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie nods as she walks with Phoebe. "Well...I don't know if you can get the reflexes to block bullets..." she taps her bracers. "But I think we can get Red Robin to hook you up with a bullet-proof costume. He's good with acquireing stuff like that. Still, I'm proud of you as both a teacher and as a friend. You could have stayed safe, out of the line of danger, and helped with any healing after the fact. But you went into a dangerous situation with the goal of protecting others. And you did that."
Phoebe Beacon     "... that's my nature. My dad is... was a hero. A real hero. He said there there is a Beacon, there is Hope... so I kinda take that to heart." she explains, walking with Casie as she looks back over her shoulder at the grouping.

"That is... actually something I wanted to talk to you about. Armor. Movement in it. I won't ever have your reflexes or strength, sure."
Cassie Sandsmark Cassie nods. "Of course. You need something light enouh to move in, but strong enough to take a bullet on occasion. And if you feel ready for it, Diana did promise you a set of armor for your own. So we can start the fitting process whenever you'd like. It will take a few days to fit something to you, but it will be what you're looking for, I'm sure."
Phoebe Beacon     "I... figured that was if I decided to keep training and mastered philisophical pursuits as well." the girl gives a grin. "And of course, it's an honor. I'm truly in your and Diana's debt for all manner of things." Beacon gives a wry smile, and slips off her domino mask.

    "... so... ah. sandwiches?"
