Cassandra Cain Cassandra Cain is not present for the current situation. Largely because she wouldn't understand anyway.

The file's up for the team to see. Everyone has a personal file, after all. We are gathered around the bat-computer and are finally, finally, able to view what was found in Cassandra's bunker.

A while ago it was noted that Cassandra had her own hidey-hole. A place where she went to be safe. The detectives in the team wanted to know more. So, entirely by accident, they blew it up.

Babs has finally managed to open up some of the files found in the buried systems. The site itself is a writeoff, but there are things still deep in the core that were able to be brought out.

What they find might suggest even more. Which is why Cass isn't here. They need to know who she is, and if her past is going to cause us trouble.
Barbara Gordon Barbara sits near one of the computer interfaces with her sleeves pushed up on her slim fitting black sweater. She's got a pair of blueblockers on her eyes, filtering out the computer screen a little as she'd been at this for awhile. Once the information is cracked though, she just leans back in her chair and draws in a deep breath that has her lifting her hands up to run her fingertips through the tied-up strands of her crimson red hair.

"Well, that did it." She says to whomever may be around listening.

"Now, we all get to read what's here..." She says then before she reaches for her cup of coffee only to find its been gone for who knows how long, the cup isn't even warm anymore.

She frowns, and sets the cup back down. "Well, okay then." She says as she rises up from her chair to go get some more from a table not too far away.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown digs in the bottom of her bag of caramel corn. "You know, I don't really care for popcorn that much. And I don't like caramel candy. Makes my teeth hurt. But I like caramel corn," she says, looking at the bag more closely, as if maybe the ingredient's list or the address of the company who made it might help shed some light on it. "Strange."

The blond is sitting on one of the many counters that make up the Batcomputer's console, her feet swaying back and forth. A pair of Converse All-stars adorn her feet. Stephanie's jeans have holes in them, not because they are stylish but because they are old. She's wearing a Gotham U sweatshirt that is starting to fade a little bit, indicating it's a favorite of hers.

"I feel the same way about Cheetos. So I bet I'd like that Cheeto-flavored popcorn too," she muses before shaking her head and looking up at the computer. "Ah, you get it?" she asks Barbara. Stephanie pivots to face the giant screens more directly as she pulls out a few more candy-covered kernels from the nearly-empty bag. "Let's see," she says as she starts to read.
Austin Reese Austin was still in awe of the cave, but he wouldn't say it out loud. He didn't want to come across as being even more of a fanboy. The newest Robin had come down through the main entrance, and spotted Barbara near the computer. Just in time for her to get up and start to head towards the coffee, "Surprised you don't have like a big vat with a spiggot on it down here."

He himself has brought a can of energy drink with him. After all if you're going to stay up all night, it pays to pick what best keeps you going, "What're you working on?"
Julia Pennyworth With the gathering of the younger generation down in the cave that meant that there was likely to be spills and bits of food all around if one weren't careful. Normally Alfred might chide them on it, or Bruce if he were about. Unfortunately the butler and the bat could not always be present for such things. Which is why, unfortunately, Julia is sent down per her father's request.

Carrying a stack of coasters in one hand and a stack of napkins in the other, she makes her way down looking only mildly bored. "Oi. Presents from the butler. Keep it clean or face his wrath." Austin is handed a coaster as she walks by with a simple nod of greeting. Stephanie gets a napkin dropped on her head before sticky caramel popcorn fingers get on the computer keys.

It's only then she realizes, glancing Barbara's way, "Wait, coffee's out? Damn."
Cassandra Cain Barbara Gordon is better than good. She's along the lines of the best in the world. The fact that it took her months to get into these files deliniates how hard they were to get into. Partly due to damage, sure, but there are programs for that.

She's got it all coming up now...until she finds that it's not. There are still files not in this system. It looks like they not only hid the files, the split some of them into completely separate computers. Which means, more digging.

Still, there's an awful lot here. It keeps trying to access the outside world - the systems are actively trying to alert an outside source.

But what is found isn't Cassandra's file. It's an entire world. The file list that comes up is separated into systems. Control. Training. Staff. Upkeep. Subjects. Procedures.

A quick overview suggests that what they've found is the basic control OS for a complete biosphere. A contained world, where foods and goods are brought in...and there's a file listed as 'overview'. Possibly a place to start.
Barbara Gordon Barbara is starting another pot of coffee when Austin and Julia appear in the cave with she and Steph. Babs spares a moments glance to the two of them, and then nods her head. "Never enough..." She says in a breathy voice before she just walks back toward where Steph was perched giving her snack food rundown.

Babs hears it, but also doesn't hear it, she just stares at the screens, then does that thing where she zeros in on what she feels is the standout place to start.

The 'OVERVIEW' document hits the main screen, where its blown up for everyone to read through.

With a few mouse strokes, a few clicks, and a sorting system running... Babs speaks up.

"I have the computer searching for anything that might be references to Cass directly. It's going to sort them in to a new folder, which should save us some time..."
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown takes the napkin, though any of the candy coating coming off on her fingers gets discretely sucked from her fingertips. "Thanks Julia," Stephanie says, while Austin gets a quick grin and a wave, before the young woman's attention ends up back on the screen.

"If there's a file that explains preferring to enter rooms through dusty ventilation shafts, save a copy for later reading," Stephanie quips, though she's focused enough on reading what's on the screen that it is said as more of an aside rather than with her normal joking tone she'd have used.

"Hrm," she murmurs, chewing on her bottom lip. "This is... a big looking operation," she comments as some of the details start to come together.
Austin Reese Austin of course does take the coaster, and setting it down on one of the desks as he looks up at the screen, reading what he can on the overview page, "I'm not a super genius and that looks pretty complicated. What are we looking at?" He asks, as he takes another drink from the can of energy drink, giving Stephanie a nod in response.
Julia Pennyworth Julia Pennyworth glances longingly a moment more at the coffee pot. It's shrugged off though as she turns her attention to the information dump on the screen. Unaware of what was being deciphered she just regards it a few long moments with her eyes narrowing faintly.

"Is this the Batman's training regimine for you all?" It's said seriously as she looks between the other three here seeking an answer. One that is apparently obvious once Stephanie speaks up. It just earns a further furrowing of her brow.

Resting her hand slightly on the back of the console chair she leans in closer to regard it with a shake of her head.

"Hold on--This looks like elite military training. For multiple assets. Where did you find this?"
Cassandra Cain It is not the Batman's training regime. The files on Cassandra fill quickly, but the first thing that comes up is the overview page. Which is partially corrupted, but more than enough is available to allow the entire room to get a shiver from what's inside.

Babs' computer fills in some blanks, where the file is beyond recovery but close enough to allow the system to guess at the content anyway. It fills in before your eyes.

Red Room Academy. USA experimental. DEFUNCT.

The last part of that was added at a much later date than the start. Timestamps are easily available.

Proceed to allow for girls become candidate. File within society for intelligence placement dark. Within parameters file kill zone kill. Negative on lunacy pirate. When allowed placement adults only.

It was originally in Russian. Translation is never perfect.
Barbara Gordon "You're not wrong..." Babs says to Steph as she focuses on her task at hand.

She gets that data recovery program working on the bits that are missing, her eyes tracing across the screen. "Oh, Batman wishes this were part of his training..." She mutters as she continues to do her thing.

When the information about the Red Room comes up, Babs leans back in her chair then to take another break, and let it all soak in.

"What does this mean to you?" She asks to Steph, though she glances to Julia and Austin again, as who knows what they might know too!
Austin Reese "Honest answer? No idea." Austin says, as he looks at it, rubbing his chin for a second, "Like she said, looks like military training...But that last line there. Seems like they were training spies? Or assassins I suppose. They mention kill a lot for it to be just spying."

He's basing his answers off of movies he's seen more than anything else. He's lived in Gotham his whole life.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown leans towards the screen again. "It's data taken from a location connected to Cassandra's past," Stephanie says for the benefit of Austin and Julia, though her eyes are still glued on the screen.

"Wait, what was," Stephanie says, and reaches over to grab a file with an image that had gone past as Barbara was going through them. She touch-screens it (that has to be the world's biggest touch screen!) to drag it over to the side out of Barbara's way while Stephanie studies it more closely, along with the files that Barbara is asking Stephanie about.

"This part," she says, motioning towards a fragment of a base diagram, the rest of the image having been corrupted. "The round walls. That's the silo. Here's the bathroom," she says, "And the bomb in the wall, the one we failed to get to in time was right here," she says, tapping a wall.

Stephanie zooms in the other side of the diagram. "And this part, this was a hallway that led to some rooms that had old metal bed frames in them, like a dormitory. There was also another room I thought was a gun range, which would be this," she says, tapping one that has that as the translation for it. "Rest of the image is corrupted I guess though. And we didn't go into other parts of it. Probably still had the security in place is my guess," she says.

Because, yeah, they did trip said security didn't they. Resulting in aforementioned bomb in the wall.
Julia Pennyworth "Academy? One hell of an academy." Julia continues to scowl at the data points on the screen until Stephanie pulls aside the photos of the actual facility. It all starts to nag at some hint of a memory that she finds quite frustrating to pin down. Standing straight with an annoyed sigh she instead rakes her hand back through her pixie-cut contemplating it all.

"Defunct now, eh? You're not wrong, Austin," she agrees with a single curt nod. "This is all very much like assasin training from the look of it. You've been there though?" This is aimed toward Stephanie pointedly.

"Either our quiet gal is on to some serious information or she might have been a subject here herself."
Cassandra Cain There's a bing, and Cassandra's file goes active. The computer's found all it's likely to find. Which means that Julia's comment is now answerable.

Cassandra Cain, it says. Father, David Cain. Mother - Shiva.
Dates listed for birth, entry to the system immediately after. Then the file lists her weapons scores, all well above average. Hand to hand, perfect. Intersocial scores, abysmal. Her file is listed as being terminated at her early teens - the computer thinks that she was killed for failing the program.

There are no further entries.

The main file itself goes on for a while, listing supplies enough for a small army, toiletries, weapons damaged on site, injuries, deaths. Most are not given names.

When the personnel files are opened, they are blank. They either deleted them, or that system requires access to an on-site computer. Which got blowed up, most likely.
Barbara Gordon What the others say is mulled over inside of Babs' mind. Some of it is a little more sticky than other bits, but ultimately she pulls her eyes from the computer screens to look at the three of them with her.

"Our goal here is to find things that will help Cass. Whatever that might be. But what we don't want to do, is bring up anything to her that might actually harm her. It may be a tricky road to walk, too, deciding which of those things are which. But... lets do our best."

The redhead looks back to the screens then and she starts to cross-reference the searches through the Bat-computer for anything regarding this 'Red Room'. It's possible that in all of Bruce's history, he may have come across it too, and filed it away somewhere.

"Maybe, Batman, has had some dealings with them. It's not like he ... you know... isn't neck deep in such worlds...." She dryly says as she orchestrates the search through the existing 'cave files'.
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown stares at the screen, not just because her mind is whirring but as her emotions churn too. To Julia, Stephanie says, "Subject, most surely. Cass was living in the remains of this place. Unbeknownst to those who used to run it. She took me there and I'd visit her there."

Stephanie crinkles up the bag that had her caramel corn in it, tossing it into a trash can. "Long story short, some kind of sensors got tripped when a different entrance got used than the one we used. And, someone Cass referred to as 'Mother' came up on a monitor, knew Cass and was surprised to see her alive. And then set off a self-destruct. We defused a few of the bombs but couldn't get to the last and just got into the elevator shaft in time."

The blond leans over to the keyboard and taps a few commands. "Probably Lady Shiva," Stephanie says, "the reference to Cassandra's mother. I mean, they even resemble each other," she says, pulling up Batman's file on the assassin. "But that's not the woman that Cassandra called 'Mother'. Not her biological one from the sound of it, the one who tried to kill us all."
Julia Pennyworth "'Mother' could refer to a trainer as well. Usually assets-" Julia pauses here to clear her throat at the lingo she was using. "Could be assasins, spies, or otherwise. Their handlers are often given names like that. Partly to help drive home a sense of loyalty to 'family', partly so if they're caught they don't know any other name to refer to their handler by."

RShaking her head she steps away from the computer looking a bit disturbed, to say the least. "Can't say as I blame her for being quiet then. You lot know her more than I do, but if I can help..."

The offer trails off. It's left out there though. "I've got some things to tend to topside." With that simple explanation she heads to the stairs up at a steady clip.
Austin Reese "I haven't run into them." Austin says, as he hmms faintly, "Still if she's in trouble, perhaps we can figure out how to best help her out." He doesn't know Lady Shiva either, but he can pull up the info easily enough if need be, "So if she's actually a spy, or at least was trained as one and they had this whole academy to train folks, there might be way more trained super spies out there."
Cassandra Cain The site history as listed shows that the experiment was shut down at X date. (kept vague for rp reasons) A quick cross-reference into Batman's own files would solve that - he was at that time conducting a deep dive into the odd occurrences in that exact area. Their own history shows that 'local elements' were becoming too active, and the project was abandoned. But it was in a different text format - perhaps a different person was in charge at that time.

Cassandra's own files show that she was an astounding pupil - no surprise to anyone who's fought her. But they also show that she was not given certain accreditations? A file on 'Serum Application' shows as 'denied and stored in vault'.

Did anyone see a vault? There is no sign of a vault in these files.
Barbara Gordon Babs reaches up then and taps one of the windows on the main monitor. She brings it up and points at it. "This is a routine, of some measure, and it's trying to ping an outside source. That's what it's designed to do anyway. But, it's thankfully not accomplishing that." She tells the others.

Her eyes go back to her own computer screen then. "I've been trying to see if I can pinpoint /where/ it's trying to reach out too... but no luck yet." She adds before glancing at Steph, and Austin.

"I wish I'd been there for that... whatever was in that site probably would've saved a lot of time..."
Stephanie Brown Stephanie chews her lower lip as she reads the screen. "Mentions a 'vault' in relation to this serum thing. Might be a vault could have survived the blast? Or, it could have also had its own bomb to make sure it was obliterated. Either way, it might be worth a visit?" she suggests.

Stephanie glances around, half expecting to find Cassandra hanging from the roof of the cave among all the other bats up there. "I can tell her about this if we want. Going to be kind of hard to relate this though, lacking the kind of words that it would take."
