Cael Becker     The party has been going on for a while - much food has been eating, many songs have been sung - and a //lot// of alcohol has been drunk. Cael has about half a whiskey in her hand as her gaze is trained on the stage, where Jon and Martin are both singing into microphones //at// each other, earning a small quirk of amusement to Cael's lips as she watches the antics of the pair.
"So weird," she mutters to herself, a free hand - coated in a smattering of glitter - idly stroking the head of her thoroughly-glittered pooch. "So fucking weird." What, the song they were singing? Their behavior?
    "I just don't get it."
Lydia Dietrich     Lydia had been carousing, talking with the various party goers, and had a stint on stage, singing some Tori Amos. It turns out the vampire isn't that bad at all. She's hanging out in the back, now, nursing her Manhattan that she's yet to refill for the night.

"What's so weird?" she asks Cael, genuinely curious. "I mean... their song choice doesn't seem that unusual to me."
Cael Becker     The song is sappy as hell so - no. Not at all surprising for Jon and Martin, certainly not for those that know them. At Lydia's question, though, Cael lets out a surprised, "Huh?" as if surprised that she was overheard at all. "Oh," she adds eloquently.
"No, I mean- well. //Martin//." There. That certainly clarifies matters.
"I mean... Jon's his husband. His //husband//. Yeah? And he goes and falls in love with some woman and... and... that's just fine. You'd think- I don't know. You'd think... //something//. But nope. Just fine."
Sara Pezzini Finally finishing the last call of the night, Sara was free to drink anything she wanted in whatever amounts she desired. Coming back from the restrooms just in time to hear Lydia's question and then Cael's response, she pauses to get herself a whiskey and coke before making her way over to Cael's table and sitting down.

"Should I weigh in here, or just leave it?" she asks with a grin, clearly having a few comments all saved up.
Lydia Dietrich     Lydia contemplates this for a while, watching Jon and Martin sing 'Total Eclipse of the Heart.' "Yeah," she says finally. "I don't... I mean, I kind of get it. I'm in the same boat. Mystique loves me, but she also loves Azazel. I'm not that kind of person, but I'm trying to let Mystique be that, and not get jealous." She shakes her head, "It's hard to let go and trust them to always come back to you."

She looks up when Sara arrives. "Hey there," she says with a grin. "Come join us. We're talking about how strange it is to find ourselves in poly relationships."
Cael Becker     "He should hate me, right? He should hate me! I'm... the other woman. I'm... I dunno. I don't get it. If I'd- I mean, I'd think- I'd be like... 'why aren't I good enough' or something? If- I mean..." Cael gestures towards Martin and Jon - without the pair seeming to notice.
    They're really into their song.
Her eyes flicker to Sara next before she offers a bit dryly, "I dunno, should you?" But after a moment the expression relents into a grin, and a gesture (with her glass of whiskey) for Sara to proceed.
"I mean. I'm not jealous of Martin because- that'd be pretty shitty. Martin was there first. By like... a decade."
Sara Pezzini Oh boy, so they were both having issues with poly and here Sara was, perfectly comfortable in a poly relationship. How do you explain poly to people who aren't, or usually aren't.

Taking a sip of her drink, she looks between the two of them but it is Cael she speaks to first. "No, he shouldn't hate you, that's not how it works for the poly mind set. Monogamy is a mind set, just like poly is. Religion keeps trying to say that marriage between man and woman is the /only/ way, but religion is a moronic, archaic structure, conceived of by men who wanted power."

She pauses there to take another sip of her drink. "A person is capable of loving more than one other person, it happens all the time, often leading to "adultry"," yes she air quotes. "It's not always because one person stopped loving another, or that something was missing in their relationship, it really is about falling in love all over again. For Martin and Jon, I can't speak with certainty, but I'm pretty sure they're alright with you and Jon being a couple, while Jon and Matrin are a couple because they think more poly than monogamous."

Now she address Lydia, offering a smile. "Jealousy can be a difficult factor with poly, which is why it's important to communicate, and stay communicating. If you aren't getting from the relationship what you need, you have to speak up and let your partner know that. You're important to her, and she'll want to know if you are having issues."
Lydia Dietrich     Lydia shakes her head. "I think for most couples, yeah, you'd be a homewrecker. Just.... some people are wired differently." She listens to Sara and nods along. "I think what it comes down to is trust and jealousy," she concludes. "You have to trust that your partner isn't going to abandon you for this other person, and you have to really look at why you're jealous."

She sighs and runs a finger along the edge of the glass, "I had to sit and seriously look at /why/ I was jealous in the first place. Mostly it boiled down to I was afraid that she'd leave me for him. He was there before me, after all. She's only loved a few people like that in her long, long life, and it was hard to accept that she could love both of us."
Cael Becker     "Well. I'm not willing to come between Jon and Martin. That's... that's some fucked up shit, you know? And besides," Cael gestures towards the pair. "He //loves// him. He'd- if I did something like that... he'd resent it." Which wouldn't be good for their relationship. "So either I accept, or... I can't have Jon." Which isn't an option for her.
"Martin doesn't seem jealous. In fact he, uh... he insists I'm family now. Him and Jon both. Fucking weird is what it is." Having a family - especially a family of this size, and really //belonging// somewhere - it's all so unfamiliar to her.
"Are you still jealous?" she asks Lydia curiously.
Sara Pezzini Sara sits back in the chair, eyes going to Jon and Martin on the stage singing. They were a cute couple, there was no doubt about that, but in her mind Jon, Cael and Matrin made an adorable trio, even if Cael wasn't technically with Martin.

"You are part of the family," she comments to Cael, eyes still on the stage. "Told you you would be, but then I have a little advance knowledge on poly and how it works, you're still working through it."
