Natasha Romanova Hydra had a reputation for pursuing artifacts throughout the decades the secret terrorist organization determined to rule the world had existed. These things could very from the dangerous that had to be destroyed or even worse. So, at this Hydra facility, sneaking in through the ducts, one archaeological specialist was along to deal with the artifacts, and one special agent were sneaking through..
Lara Croft     And, of course, the best archaeologist for running around and being sneaky was none other than billionaire artifact hoarder Lara Croft. It was entirely possible that some of the artifacts wouldn't be important enough to lock up in SHIELD storage vaults, and thus may end up in Lara's collection. Such was a perk of working with SHIELD.
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff is crawling along, clicking her tongue as she would speak to the quiet SHIELD comm, which would carry less noise, "We want to get in as quickly as we can. We'll have issues fighting our way through a Hydra base on alert. We want to find where they're keeping the artifact, grab it,a nd get out." Even as she would come across a vent and use it to peer down into the hallway
Lara Croft     HYDRA had definitely fallen since World War II. The vent was tunneled out of the rock, so it wasn't just sheet metal making tons of noise, but for some reason it was still large enough for the two slender-yet-buxom women to sneak through without much trouble. Because of that, the vents were large enough for human entrance and egress, too. Heaven help the poor HYDRA intern who had to crawl through the air ducts if they got infested with rats.
Lara didn't respond over the comm since she had nothing to add. She'd already made her comments about going in through the ventilation system being a terrible cliche before the mission. She could see nothing in the darkness but slivers of light coming from around Natasha's feet.
Outside, in the hallway, there were precious few actual guards. Something like a slender golf cart drives through filled with packages and mail, then there's silence from beyond, at least for now.
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff would scan on down, assessing the presence of the guards, their uniforms, and the position of the vent. IT was cliche.. But it did work. Never let it be said that the classics weren't there for a reason. Natasha would slowly point down at the guards, their position, andt hen go to slowly work her fingers over the ventilation shaft. She would take out a small magnetic coupler, and go to press it as it would light and spin. The screws that held it in place starting to unfasten themselves enough for the two to quietly get the vent open without too much noise. Natasha looking from one of the guards to another, gesturing at the ones for Lara to take while at the ones she would. Then silently, she would drop on down, going towards her particular pair.
Lara Croft     Lara could be sneaky when she needed to. She had her silenced sidearm, but for this, she had a more up-close option. HYDRA agents were essentially worse than Nazi soldiers, so Lara never really got flak for using lethal take-down methods.
When she got ready to drop down, she attached a pair of anchors inside the vent system. According to the blueprints, it would be unhelpful to go farther by vent, so there was space up there to stow the bodies. She lowered herself down and pulled down the two tethers to drag the bodies back up. She then drew her weapon.
Lara moved in step with Romanoff, readying her chosen method of dispatching the guard.
Natasha Romanova Natasha's method of dealing with Hydra guards was to drop in behind one, then flipping up over his shoulders, putting his neck between powerful legs, and then snapping it over like a twig between them. Then towards the next one even as he was spinning towards her her hand would pull out her small, compact pistol and then fire three quick silenced rounds into his chest, dropping him hard. She would nod at Lara.
"Good job. Let's hide them. And I have an idea for how we can go a bit deeper in here wihtout standing out." She would point at the mail cart and grin.
Lara Croft     Lara was just as efficient, but not as acrobatic or skilled at murder as Natasha was. She dragged the guard's body to the lines and hooked it up. A line pulled it inside and forced it farther down the air duct. She walked back toward the other bodies to help Natasha with them as she looked at the mail cart. Lara looked at Natasha and raised a curious eyebrow.
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff would go to start to strip two of the guards, presuming that Lara would get the idea, "We have this and we'll be making deliveries." Her seeing if Lara agreed with the idea. "No one is going to notice us carrying things through." ANother oldie, but a goodie.
Lara Croft     Lara realized a blood-stained guard covered in bullet holes would draw attention. She looked up to the vent then hopped up and grabbed the lines, crawling back up into the vent and disappearing. When she finally came back down, she was dressed in the baggy uniform of a now dead HYDRA guard. Lara's hips and chest were full enough ot fill out the uniform. The midsection, she had drawn together at the back and fastened, making it look like it fit her.
"Hail HYDRA," she said with a bit of swagger toward Natasha. Punctuating that, she put her HYDRA helmet on, completing the disguise.
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff would go to hold her hand up and over, doing a mocking version of the same salute while grinning. Going to then go along towards the mail cart. The bulky uniforms doing an excellent job of hiding their weaponry. It does however smell, and she would wrankle her nose. Quickly scanning over the uniforms to look for anything amiss.
"We'll be heading towards the storage room with our target."
Lara Croft     Lara moved to the other bodies and helped Natasha get them hooked up and stuffed into the vents. She rides her tether up and attaches the vent cover itself before dropping back down. She moves to the mail cart without needing clarification on directions or objectives. She hopped into the driver's seat and looked over the controls. Electric, of course. Indoor vehicles most often were. She'd driven plenty of electric vehicles, and the controls were not exactly in code. They were simple enough for the grunts to operate it. She waited for Natasha before driving along toward their destination.
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff goes up and over to the side of the cart, hopping up and over to the passenger side while giving a half salute and grin to Lara. Then the two would be off, Natasha remaining silent and letting Lara navigate and her looking around as they would start to pass agents in the halls. several of them with steaming pots of coffee. Talking about the baseball lockout
Lara Croft     Men check out the women taking the mail around. They're not familiar with them, but in a base this size, that's not super unusual. A few do the HYDRA salute at the passing electric vehicle just to get a response from the bombshells. Lara does a silent one back while driving.
When the reach artifact storage, Lara is out of her depth. Normally, ancient tombs don't have need of hacking tools. A modern HYDRA vault, however, does. She turns sideways in the driver's seat and unzips her uniform enough to reach into it. If trouble comes while Natasha works, she's going to be ready for it. Hopefully, if this goes like movies, their cover won't get blown until the way out.
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff goes to repeat the salute as well, managing it in a flat, lazily formal way that new recruits would tend to do when there wasn't an officer around to try and correct them on the matter. Natasha would keep a flat look over on her face as the duo would move to bypass most of the personnel then get over to the vault. It has a voiceprint, retinal, and biometric lock. Natasha goes to put a contact in her eye, pulls out a glove with cloned bio-material in it, and then goes to press it up against the lock. Then a small recording device is taken out, which goes to play 'Hail Hydra! Hail glorious Hydra' in the voice over of Viper. And the door goes to open.
Lara Croft     Lara jumps down from the mail vehicle and zips up her jumpsuit as she steps over the threshold and into the vaults. It's her turn to work. And suddenly, she stops. Inside the room isn't laid out like a museum. It's laid out like storage. There's wooden crates everywhere. They're supposed to be in a certain order, but it's clear that whoever was in charge of this didn't do their job. Lara begins looking for the numbers branded into the wood slats that would identify the artifact they were looking for.
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff would just glance over at Lara with a 'this is your thing' expression on her face. Everything's thrown about haphazardly and no real sorting. And they don't have long before even the dullard dimwits of Hydra happen to notice that the big vault is open and a cart is parked near it.
Lara Croft     Lara climbs boxes and looks through things. She finds the number they're looking for and manages to keep her celebration to a smile shot at Natasha. She squats down and pulls a small prybar from her boot. She readies herself to jam it between top and bottom before she notices a small, indented plus sign on the top of one of the nails holding the crate together.
Lara slips her prybar away and runs her finger over that indented plus. She unzips her outfit and pulls out a set of lockpicks and other small tools. She pulls out a screwdriver and puts the head into the head of the nail and turns it. That's no nail, that's a screw! Lara looks around at a couple of the other boxes. No screws anywhere else that she can see. She takes her time and begins unscrewing. It takes time, but until their cover is blown, the women have it.
Once the boards have been unscrewed, Lara lifts the top of the crate off. She looks around before putting it back on and starting to screw things back together. It's another long process that she finishes before slimbing down to stand next to Natasha. Something was wrong.
"Guards have probably missed a check-in by now," Lara says. "We need to leave."
Natasha Romanova Whether or not they have what they're after, it's time to go. "We don't have more than a few minutes at most." Natasha agrees.. Right over as a series of alarms go to blare throughout the facility, and Natasha can just look at Lara, "Lovely. Do you think that we could track down wherever has it in this place or we going to have to abort and just bug out of here?" The primary mission is still getting the thing. But if someone beat them to it and took the time to cover their tracks, they probably don't have the time.
But it never hurts to check just in case Lara thinks they still have a chance.
Lara Croft     "No," Lara says. "It was stolen from Hydra. We're in the wrong location altogether without realizing it." She reaches into her stolen jumpsuit and draws her silenced pistol. She takes a deep breath and says, "Get us out of here alive, and we can discuss options over drinks. First round's on me."
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff would smirk, "Works for me. We need to be fast." Right as yells were coming down the corridor as several cries of alarm. "They know where we are. We have to get to cover." The only cover being.. The mail cart.
Lara Croft     Lara follows Natasha to that cart, gripping her sidearm at her hip with white-knuckled fervor. The guard-laden cart is bigger with beefier tires, but it turns and zips off past them. Of course, they hadn't set off an alarm. The alarm was because a patrol didn't check in.
"They're reiforcing the guard at the exits," she realizes. She looks at the cart and puts her gun away. She points to the controls and says, "It's a dumb cart." She jumps in and sits in the driver's seat once more. "None of them are self-driving. They can't stop us remotely except by gunfire. Get in and try to act like a mail girl on alert."
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff would just laugh at Lara, "I like the way you think, Dame Croft." She would quip while getting on the passenger side, sliding in and having one of her hands with a gun ready concealed by her thigh just in case they needed it. Her glancing over her shoulder to see if anyone was coming. "Let's get going."
Lara Croft     Lara drove the way they'd come, getting over to yield to guard-filled carts. Soon enough, they were back at the vents. This wasn't the escape plan, but their old one was definitely not feasible, now. Lara parked and stood on the seat. "Give me a boost up," she requested, lifting a boot. "Drive the cart to the crossing hallway, then get back here. I'll lower your tether down. Hopefully, that will buy us enough time and confusion."
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff would give a nod to Lara, "Can do." This is going to be tricky and require careful timing. Lara is given a boost up, and then Natasha goes to put her foot down on the cart's pedal, taking it forwards to block over at the middle of the hallway ahead! Just for safety's sake, a small little bomb is put in the driver's seat with a remote trigger just in case as Natasha would leave it and then start to hurriedly back away!
Lara Croft     By the time the Black Widow is back at the vent, Lara is waiting above with the tether down. There wouldn't be any way to get the screws IN from the inside, so they'd have to glue the vent in place. It wouldn't be that noticeable, and the vent cover would be there, in any case.
Up in the vent, the stripped bodies were still there. Lara had had enough time to strip out of her jumpsuit and stuff it against the body count and out of the way. She wasn't about to crawl out of here smelling like an unwashed teenager.
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff goes to yank off her own outfit as well. It would just get in the wa while the two were going to escape and risk slowing her down. With the two ready, Natasha would let out a sigh, "We're going to need to figure out how to track it later on." It could be dangerous in the wrong hands.
But even worse in Hydra's. Going along to get ready to crawl out with Lara after moving to put several things to block the door to slow anyone down coming in just in case
Lara Croft     The way out was uneventful. People could be seen through various vents for a while, and the alarm was a frequent reminder of their failure. However, soon enough, the two were outside, and in an area where they only had to worry about occasional patrols. Lara ducked into the underbrush. She had experience hiding in these circumstances. Trinity weren't as disciplined as HYDRA, but they were just as capable of finding lazy hiders and murdering them. She had close calls enough to know how to keep hidden. Natasha was probably good enough. She had more obvious hair, and her method of hiding was usually charming and smarming, as far as Lara knew. Hopefully she could coat herself in mud and sneak around like a native.
Natasha Romanova Natasha Romanoff would slide down into the underbrush, and let out a silent grumble frmo the look on her face. Going to glance at Lara in approval, not quite slathering herself up, pulling a small hood up and over her head and then a set of dark lensed glasses over her eyes to help conceal them. LEtting the other woman get ready. Then gesturing with her hands towards a circuitous route to take them away from the base.
