Veira de Wit The sun is still up at Alley Pond Park in Queens and there is one of the Spring Celebrations going on for the public and those that frequent the park. Some of the park board members are there as well. There is fun for the whole family and then some! It's been a lovely day and warm so that means that there are kids running around with their friends and enjoying the weather to go along with their mischief. Most are taking advantage of the Alley Pond Park Adventure Course attractions being open. It does look fun to get into.

Those that have been visiting the Queen's Giant Garden's in the last week might have noticed that there has been a new plant in the gardens, more of a vine variety. Its deep red and thorny vines are striking and hard to miss on initial walk throughs. So far the new resident has been thriving nicely.

Veira's running late given she had work run over and they were dealing with meetings on most fronts given Ukraine and Russia. She was dressed in dark washed jeans, black boots, a white dress shirt and a black blazer that was tailored to her form. Very much not the Morticia Addams look she usually sports to things. Her eyepatch is in place, her bangs getting long enough that she has to brush them out of her way every so often.

Her one umber eye, the color of burnt umber, is searching the crowd for someone...
Jan de Wit Wearing his own tailored suit, is Jan. The man came down for the celebrations, having made arrangements to meet a specific someone there. Rehersals were done for the day, and he had a bit of time to unwind and relax. An easy smile crossed his face as he watched the children play and enjoy the wonderful weather. It was a good day to visit the park!

Drinking a bit of iced tea from one of the many vendors - he relaxes on a nearby bench. One leg crossed over the other, he looks the very definition of comfort. Not a worry in the world.
Cinque Evers After a lot of pleading from his volunteers and workers, Cinque decides to close up Jamile Homeless Shelter Information and Donation booth earlier, so his people can enjoy the rest of the festival. Cinque reminds those that live at the shelter that the last van back to the shelter departs at 9:00 pm. Cinque begins to stack the pamphlets up as he gazes upon the Spring Festival. A collection of sights, sounds, and are store forever in Cinque's mind forever: A little girl with auburn hair crying as her bright yellow balloon escapes her grasps. the aromas of fresh popcorn and peanuts floating in the air, and the various conversations and music being partakes by crowd. He bites the corner of his lips as he recalls the differences and similarities of the diffferences Spring Festivals.
Veira de Wit Veira detours around a group of people, catching sight of the man on the bench. This brings a smile to her face. She sidles up to the back of the bench, leaning down to cross her arms on the back of the bench. "Do you come here often?" she asks Jan, her accent standing out a bit more as she does. There is a cheesy wiggle of her eyebrows his way as well. She's definitely in a good mood even with all the stuff going on at work.

"I'm glad we didn't bring the dogs, I think they would have gotten overly excited in all of this." she tells him as she straightens back up and heads to stand in front of the bench. She holds out a hand, "How was rehearsal?" she asks him with a soft smile. Though the sound of a child crying makes the Romanian womans head whip around to see if there is something to be concerned about.

Meanwhile, out in the wilds of the Adventure Zone there are a lot kids and adults lining up for the zip line. Adventure awaits for them!
Jan de Wit The voice earns a smile from Jan, even before he looks over to Veira. "So long as I am meeting a beautiful woman." He responds, standing as she comes around to the front of the bench. Her hand is taken and a warm hug is given to her, a quick kiss too. "Rehearsal was fantastic. Everyone is coming together nicely. It's such a treat to watch the dance crew grow and learn - and when we all get in step." A grin. "Chef's kiss."

The crying doesn't elicit the same response, though he does look to see that nothing was seriously wrong. Once he's sure nothing too terrible is going on, he looks back to Veira. "How was your day? Nothing too terrible, I hope?"
Cinque Evers Cinque Evers continues to break down his booth and starts to look up one of the Jamii Shelter van. Cinque walks over to the driver, an midle-age man with an extreme receding hairline who still wrapping the rest of his grey hair ponytail, named Alex and tells him, "I am almost done breaking down the booth. Why don't you go enjoy the festival, and I will do the first run. You can enjoy the Festival until I get back.

Cinque notices the nervous look in Alex's eyes and quickly adds, "I will be back way before the fireworks starts. A sense of relief washes over Alex's face as he slowly hands the keys to Cinque, "Thanks, Boss. I think the cotton candy lady is sweet on me, or maybe I am sweet on her. Alex slaps his knee and boasts in laughter as he told the world's greates joke, HA HA..Sweet on her! Do you get it?" Cinque raises both his eyebrows and offers up a fake smile, "Yeah, pretty funny....uhmm, I will see you back at the shelter."
Veira de Wit Veira gives a smile to Jan, hugging him tightly and relaxing a bit more now that she's found him, "The day was stressful, but that is because there are a lot of people arguing and I can only translate Russian so fast." she tells him with a chuckle. "I'm glad that the dancers are coming together, I'm looking forward to coming to some shows." she admits. "Shall we go see about some of the sights? I know there is a plant vendor here, unless you want to go zip lining with me." she grins.

Cinque with his genius and analysis might realize that there is too much weight on the ropes from the zip line that there is a line for. It's all how you intake the information. The ropes themselves are new, but there's something funky about the vibe that settles over the whole of the encounter here. A tension building in not only the rope, but the people around as they notice that something is amiss in the back of their brains.

Jan might see a disturbing resemblance to this from a recent vision. Except it's not stop motion and is really not far from them.

There is a 'TWANG' that is heard, reverberating through the air as the rope from the first zip line starts to snap away from its safety base...
Jan de Wit Perhaps it's the divination training he's been doing. Perhaps his mutation is evolving. Maybe even it's the vision he had the night before. In any case, Jan looks to Veira. "Keep clear of the lines." The warning is issued even before the break of the zipline. The dancer is in motion, moving with confidence and grace - vaulting over benches and obstacles as if this was all planned. Even those gasping onlookers aren't in the path of Jan, his sight allowing him to know the path before taking it.

Regardless of the damage to that tailored suit, Jan moves with a purpose and speed. As the rope breaks, and the children start falling, he's right under one of them. He's got an inkling that the other will be safe - just not sure how. The child is caught in his arms, with Jan rolling to accept the impact. The roll continues, making sure they avoid the whipping high-tension cable.
Cinque Evers As Cinque gets behind the seat of van, he takes a quick glance of the rear view window. Upon looking at the rear view window, a bunch of seagulls are seen flying in the sky. Cinque quickly pulls his keys as his ignition as he recalls seeing inverted birds flying over a field of red. First the pattern seem appeared in from of rain drops in one of the leaves of the Queen's Giant, the follwing night the pattern was witnessed on a blanket in one his dream, then the following day on a mural in a subway tunnel, and finally on a jacket that was donated to the shelter.

Cinque begins to quickly process the entire Spring Festival focusing on the top area towards the bottom. Within seconds, he eyes observe the Skyline and the danger that are about to fall the two riders. As time begins to slow down, and he can see each strand of the cable start to break, Cinque is already jumping in the air to catch the kid. When the kid lands in Cinque's arms, they both fall safely to the ground. Cinque lands in patch of soft leaves
Veira de Wit Jan's words make Veira look at him oddly, but that's when she hears the rope snapping. Oh shit. "Get back from the ropes!" she calls. There is already people panicking, parents scrambling to get to their children. Others are getting out of the way. That cable however is...a problem, it's wriggling around like a snake, it smacks someone, but luckily it's just going to leave a hell of a graze.

In one quick motion Viera takes the throwing knife she has tucked into her back sheathe and stabs it into her arm, letting blood flow. After that there is the focus of powers on the rope, cold white whisps of magic taking control of the rope and engulfing it. Morana's Avatar twists her hands, blood dripping down her arm as she does. The rope wriggles another moment before it bursts into brightly colored flower petals.

They rain down over Jan, Cinque and the children underneath. They catch on the wind and as people rush to see about the kids and the men who managed to react so fast and catch them. There are already people calling for the ziplines to be closed down and those that are moving to leave before anything else weird happens.
Jan de Wit Flowers? Petals? Did he die? Jan looks about for any further danger, before looking to the little child in his arms. "Exciting day, right?" His tone is light and confident, trying to steal away some of the terror the child might be facing. "Where are your parents?" He wonders, helping the child to their feet. Soon enough the child is reunited with their family, Jan taking off the badly torn suit jacket. Ah well.

Glancing over, Jan offers a smile and wave to Cinque. "Nicely done, friend. Good catch." He offers, friendly enough. Eyes then scan the area, looking for anyone else who might have been hurt. A nod to Veira, the man offering a salute of thanks. "I suspect everyone's had enough zipping for today, no?"
Cinque Evers Cinque wipes the boys tears as his parents come to console him. "In time this will be nothing more than a boring story that you tell your friends, or maybe you remember this day entirely different, maybe you notice the ropes breaking before everyone, and you called out and that is what saved everyone. In any case, I hope that that one day this day makes you stronger.

As Cinque steps away from the child and his parents, "Oh, I was just lucky. I was jumping up trying to catch a frisbee..." Cinque squints his left eye and shakes his head as he thinks with his mind he should have been able to think of a better lie on a spot. Cinque coughs, "I better go find her and make sure she didn't get hit with anything."
Veira de Wit Veira makes her way through the crowd, her procedure for stopping the blood from her arm already well in hand. She gives a relieved sigh as she sees that everyone is fine. There is a dip of her head to Cinque, "Thank you." she tells him. Then she looks to Jan and there's a chuckle, "Maybe for life after that." she shakes her head. "We'll have to see if Vinny can get you into the schedule for a new jacket." she comments.

"Umm...until then, I probably need to go home and stitch this up before I bleed all over the ground." she mutters with another head shake. Too much excitement for one day.
Jan de Wit Well, his jacket can at least be used to help stem the bleeding from Veira's wound. He moves to place it there, wrapping a bit and applying gentle pressure. "Luck is a fantastic friend to have." He offers to the other man, smiling. No judgement, no suspicion - just admiration for another Good Samaratin. "And yes, I think ziplining might be off my bucket list." A wry grin.

"Let's get you home and stitched up. We can reach out to Vinnie later, yes?" A nod and a wave to the other man. "Be safe, and thank you again!"
Cinque Evers Cinque throws his hoodie up and quickly heads back to the van. "I got to leave quickly if I want to get back in time before the fireworks. He makes his way through the crow back to the van, stopping to gather up anyone from the shelter that wants to come go home.
