Owner Pose
Emiko Queen The square is a great place to come unwind, to study when the weather permits, sometimes just to get a hotdog and take a walk! Or in Emiko's case, rollerskate! She's zipping around the park on a pair of black and red rollerskates, grinning and just enjoying the feel of the wind whipping around her as she zips around and has some fun! Today's outfit is simple, black capri leggings under a red plaid pleated skirt, a white short-sleeved tee under a black jean jacket with a red fabric hood that's currently flat against the back of the jacket. She also has a backpack slung over her shoulders.

Facing front, flipping around to skate backwards, she zips around and through groups and singles, sticking to the paved paths in deference to the skates, though she has no problem using benches, walls, planters, and ledges as needed to avoid colliding with others. The girl has talent, no doubt, not just the skill in skating, but her perceptive and reactionary abilities seem top-notch as well, letting her react at a moment's notice. She checks her phoen again, then cuts around a hotdog vendor at his cart, flashing a grin towards a pair of students she recognizes, then coming to a halt at the fountain. Glancing around, she taps out a text.

TXT: @ fountain, wearing skates & plaid skirt!
Franklin Richards A buzz is felt in Franklin's pocket and he reaches to check his phone. It's from Emiko, a girl he's met only briefly before in one of his classes. Franklin smiles a little bit, his suit fluttering with the blowing breeze as he types out a response.

'B there soon! I'll buy you a hot dog.'

He looks at himself. Ugh, far too formal. He closes his eyes to concentrate, and his suit turns into a longsleeve shirt and jeans with Jordans on his feet. "Much better." now that he has some confidence in his step, he starts to head over to where Emiko had chosen to be: right next to the fountain.

"Hey!"

He lifts his hand in a wave to get the Queen scion's attention. "Was wondering when you'd text. How are you doing, Emiko?" His smile was full of life, like he might break into a laugh at any second.
Emiko Queen Reading off the return text, she grins and tucks the phone away before starting to look around. When she spots him, there's a bright smile and wave for him, "Frankie! Hey! I'm doing great! How are you? Nice sneakers." She's smiling and cheerful, looking younger than she is but holding onto that youthful joy. "Give me a second to swap to my shoes and I'll take you up on that hot dog offer." Parking her butt on the edge of the fountain, pulling her sneakers from her backpack and taking a moment to swap over. Tying the laces together and slinging the skates over her shoulders with a grin.

"Okay! Good to go!" Hopping back to her feet, she tips her head towards the hot dog cart and smiles, "Thanks again for agreeing to help tutor me. Engineering and tinkering types of sciences I can do.. but I've never been too great with medical sciences." Emi turns to head towards the cart with him, head tilting to smile up at him, "If I can ever do you a solid in return, you'll let me know?"
Franklin Richards "I'm doing pretty alright, thanks! Oh, these-?" Franklin looks at his shoes like they weren't that big of a thing. "Thanks! I thought my hsoe game was pretty bad, so I tried to give myself a little bit of an upgrade, you know?" He does a little toe-touch that playfully shoes off his kicks. "Sure thing. New York has the best hot dogs ever. Have you tried hot dogs from other countries? It has a different taste - and some don't do it at all."

He says that last bit like it was preposterous! He walks with her towards the hot dog cart, ordering himself a regular hot dog with ketchup, but he looks at Emiko. "-and whatever the lady would like." He smiles at her. "Hey, anything for you. You're a smart lady and honestly, you probably have it down flat, the concepts just need explaining." Franklin smiles at her in friendly fashion.

"I'll keep it in mind, but I hope you won't get mad at me if I don't cash it in. No conditions on favors."
Emiko Queen Laughing, Emiko gives a nod, "I know. I didn't have a hotdog until I was... fifteen? Sixteen? Somewhere around there." She smiles, "I was born and raised abroad, so I'm used to all sorts of things Americans find weird." She nudges him lightly with her shoulder and grins, "But hotdogs are good. Even if they're terrible, they're still awesome."

She pauses to smile up at the vendor, "I'll take a dog with mustard, ketchup, and relish." Looking back to Franklin, she grins, "If I'm going to cheat on my diet, then I'm going to cheat all the way. No onions though, I still have a few things to do and onions just... follow you, you know?" She gives a shrug and grins, "I struggle with the biochemistry stuff. When it's just biology or anatomy I can slip by, but the biochemistry section always gives me trouble."

Emi shakes her head, grinning, "I won't be mad, but the offer is there. Just in case." She pauses, then adds, "You know, actually... do you like animals? No judgment, but serious question."
Franklin Richards Franklin pulls out some cash to give to the vendor, and only -after- the cash is handed over does he begin work on the hot dogs. Getting them up and running, he hands them off to Franklin and Emiko, and Franklin takes the first bite of his hot dog and closes his eyes with a bit of a pleasurable sound coming from his mouth. "I love hot dogs. They're so unhealthy, but there are days like today when I don't care." He laughs. Though nudged with her shoulder, he nudges her right back, all in good play. "Well, follow me and hopefully I lead you right." He chuckles.

"I used to struggle with biochemistry too. Honestly, it's all about the visualization. The qualitative over the quantitative. You know?" Franklin gives her a smile. "I love animals, actually. Embarassing thing about me is that I literally would -beg- to go to the zoo all the time. Please don't judge me too harshly."
Emiko Queen Emiko takes her hot dog with a smile and a thank you for the vendor before turning away to take a bite out of her dog. Enjoying and savoring that first bite with a soft sigh of enjoyment. When she opens her eyes, its to grin at him, "I concur, Franklin. I concur wholeheartedly." Chuckling, she takes another bite from the dog, holding up a hand to cover her mouth, "SUPER unhealthy, but SO satisfying!"

She tilts her head towards one of the benches, brows lifted in invitation to sit. "Told you already, no judgment! I don't judge people for their preferences. I -am- glad to hear about that though. Might be something you could put your name and face to to help out. There's a project that I'm working on, not alone, there's a few of us involved. Me, Bart Allen, Damian Wayne showed interest, though I have to confirm with him. We've got a really great piece of land and we're going to make a sort of... nowhere else to go shelter. A place for the animals that are considered 'unadoptable', or that people think are too much of a burden. A place that can be their home. And with the sort of press we can pull for this, maybe some of them will get adopted anyways. But we want a place where animals can have a home. We're going to be working with the shelters here in New York, Metropolis, and Gotham. To start."
Franklin Richards "Mmmm...so delicious." Franklin continues to om nom nom on his hot dog. Tasting the ketchup, the mixture of different meats, the bread, all working in harmony to provide a wonderful explosion of flavor! Though he smiles at her when she's being polite and grinning at him. Though her project appears to gain at least some of his interest, his eyes resting on hers as if to see if there's hidden purpose behind them.

"Huh, you, Damian, and Bart huh? Well, we're gonna have to make this a team project then. I thought I heard something about Damian liking animals, but I'm more than happy to help market these 'unadoptable' animals and see if we can get them adopted." It didn't take much to convince Franklin to get on board. Animals deserve a home because they're people too. Good, innocent, hardworking.

Animals are the best.

"No better place to start."
Emiko Queen No hidden purpose! Just people wanting to help animals.

"He does. Bart is in school to be a vet. And me? Well, I came to it more recently. I decided to get a pet as part of my brother's 'learn to be a normal person, Emi' campaign that brought me to New York in the first place. So I spoke to a local shelter, and in the course of finding my own pets, I discovered just how many of them were on borrowed time at the shelter." She offers a half-grin and lifts a shrug.

"See, apparently every time there's a big dustup in one of the big three cities? There's a lot of collateral damage. Not just in people, but in pets, too. Numbers at the shelters skyrocket as people either surrender pets or lost pets are turned in, the number of injured strays skyrockets too. Now... some of them get picked up. People get settled and are able to find their lost pet, be reunited, it's a wonderful thing. But just as many either lose an owner to the fight, or their owner is forced into a new living situation that doesn't allow for pets. Most of them are adoptable, and a lot of them find new homes. The city is pretty good about doing animal drives to either reunite pets with owners, or find new owners. But the ones that are injured, or special needs, or just considered 'too old'? A lot of them end up put to sleep because there's nobody to care for them and the shelters don't have room for ALL the animals. So... we're making a new home for them. A place they can live for the rest of their lives, with people that will watch over them, and care for them. And yeah.. we're hoping that if we put enough big names in front of it, we might even get some of these animals adopted to new homes. But for the ones that don't? They'll still have a home and people to love and care for them." Emiko finishes the pitch with a grin and a bite of her hot dog, chewing on it with a close-lipped grin.

Once she's finished chewing, she swallows the bite back and smiles, "We have a place all picked out, hundreds of acres, plenty of room for expansion, we're already working on the permits and stuff to get started with building. Bart's working on getting vets and techs on board. And we're going to do some promotions and events to get a good base staff that will be provided housing on grounds so there's always people with the animals, and we'll do revolving drives for volunteers who can come spend a couple hours a week just spending time with the animals, helping out, that sort of thing. The stuff that looks great on resumes or that we can partner with companies to offer employees time off to go hang out with them for a day."
Franklin Richards Franklin nods to her. "Well, have your studies changed at all? After all, the whole interest in animals suggest that you wish for a more proactive investment into the time. Maybe you could be a vet like Bart?" Franklin offers to her. "But in your brother's defense, whatever he did must've worked extremely well - or your more normal than you thought you were." Franklin smiles ever so softly to her.

Franklin hums as he hears her pitch, though he looks at her long and hard. "Emiko, you know I'm already in." He tells her with a smile. "I love animals too much to say no. Plus, I remember having a dog as a kid. I still love that dog, even though his time to depart life has already long passed."

He shrugs. "Oooo. I would love to offer funding. My parents would like the idea I think. It can be a largely cooperative effort in financials, execution, and efficiency. It'll be a lot of fun, I think. I can get us building workers. None better than the Fantastic Four. My Dad can build a veterinary clinic." He informs her. "But it sounds like we're in good hands already."
Emiko Queen Chuckling, Emiko gives a shake of her head, "No, I'm still sticking with criminal justice and social services. I want to help people as much as animals. Besides, I can do more for animals as a super rich heir of the Queen dynasty than I can as a vet." She lets out a laugh at his comments and smiles, "To be honest, he mostly just wants me here to make friends my own age, socialize, that sort of thing. He didn't want me to get trapped in the super rich socialite world while I'm still young. I love him for it, but I like to think I balance things pretty well."

Emi laughs lightly and gives a nod, "I know, it's just.. I guess this is my first real 'passion project'. So I have a tendency to go a little overboard on the pitch part of it. But.. that's exactly the sort of thing I'm hoping we can promote. We're not asking for anyone to give us money, but maybe that nostalgia of past pets will encourage people to give up just a little of their time. Come hang out, pet some cats, play fetch with some dogs. You know? Get people involved. And hey, if they spend enough time out there, maybe they'll bond with an animal and want to bring them home."

She flashes a grin and gives a nod, "We could definitely use some help in the construction area. I want to bring in someone really good as the head for the vet services, and have them work with the architect and engineers to make sure the facility is fully self-sustaining and able to handle any emergencies. We're also looking into clean energy sources we can utilize. The land we purchased includes water, about a hundred acres of good lake and river that connect into larger waterways. So that might be something."
Franklin Richards "Then I'm your guy. Construction is easy when it's done right, and I think I can make it happen!" Franklin smiles at her. "Oh yeah, I like that kind of science aspect to it. I'll hlep get someone for the vet services and engineers to make the most efficient lab we can get. I think we can do it, and since the land was wisely purchased with natural resources like water we won't have to do a crazy ton of effort to outsource." Franklin suggests with a playful smile on his lips.

"But I get it. Passion projects are important. To be without passion projects is to be...well, without passion I think. But, well, I think this will be a really good project. If it isn't....well, then I guess we're going to have a very long couple of days." He starts to laugh.

"Well, you're doing a good job with the friend part if you ask me." He teases her. "Yeah, my parents wanted the same thing for me. I'm not the most normal person and I grew up shy, so...guess we're kindred spirits like that, right?"
Emiko Queen "Sounds great! I'm hoping we can figure out a good hydroelectric option, with some solar backups so we can store energy just in case." Emiko gives a nod and flashes a grin his way. "Any sort of help you can offer is wonderful, really. We can use all the people we can get for something this big." She chuckles and gives a nod, "I wanted to make sure wherever we built could be largely self-sufficient, so this will work out really nicely." Looking very pleased to have garnered his interest an help in the project, she finishes off her hotdog in a few quick chomps.

"I mean, there's always something going on... but Bart kinda showed me what was going on with stuff, and then I started doing research, and when I adopted my own cats it was... well. I just had to do something. And trust me, this is going to be a -great- project. We've got some really great faces for social media and PR for it, we've got more than enough money to fund it, and we're getting people that are excellent in their fields to staff it. We're being very, very careful about that part. Making sure thorough background checks are being done before anyone is brought into the staff." Emiko lifts a shrug and grins, "With as many... well, with as many of us big names involved, we want to make sure that nobody's political, social, or financial rivals are going to try and sabotage the effort."

She flushes faintly and smiles, "Thanks. I like to think I'm pretty well-balanced for all that my upbringing was... unorthodox. Way I figure it, we're all just wanting to be treated with respect and courtesy, right? So that's what I go for." Chuckling, Emi gives a nod, "yeah, guess we are."
