Tim Drake     Like any Gen-Z person his age, Tim eschews talking to someone on the phone. It's just not the thing to do unless his job with Wayne Enterprises requires it, and even that is a rarity. Lots of meetings that could've been an email, though.

Tangent aside, the point is: this has been arranged by text. If one were to map out the (sometimes fragile, often bizarre) friendships-slash-relationships that exist in the extend Batfamily, there might be a way to reason out the logic behind all the different text groups that exist amongst them.

There are many. And the invite to Hot Dumplings today for lunch went out to several of them.

Other invites, like the one sent to Austin, are probably delivered via random text from an unknown number that assures the sender is a friend of Phoebe's and that it's high time introductions are made. Julia gets one because she's already showed up once and Tim figures she'll probably do it again either way. Might as well include her.

The logical rules of the invites are thus:

    Are you not Batman? Check.
Are you the same age or younger than the oldest Robin? Check.
    Do you like dumplings? Check.

Thus, here they are. Tim's the first to arrive, punctual goody-two-shoes that he is, and with no one else present Mama Chang has taken the opportunity to fuss over him about the most recent pictures of him in the press. Oh, Mama Chang doesn't believe most (of any) of what the gossip rags say about the Wayne clan, given her unique insight into their true personalities--caped vigilantism aside, though who's to say how much Mama Chang really knows--but she's asking some fairly pointed questions of him, all the same.

In her native Mandarin, of course. And even for Tim it's harder to prevaricate in a language other than English, so he's mostly just stammering and not saying anything at all.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe comes in after Tim, wearing a light vest and an athletic sleeve over her left arm, wearing a pair of 'artfully' distressed jeans and orange T-shirt, with her hair up in an orange wrap, and orange-tinted sunglasses on. Yes. She was being Bougie on Purpose, breezing in behind Tim and giving him a friendly nudge of a shoulder. She has only limited Mandarin, but manages to greet Mama Chang politely and say that she's doing well -- which is the extent of her Mandarin not associated with food.

She's also punctual, and more to the point excited about seeing some of the others who she's only had passing encounters with.

She's been here more times than she would care to admit coming back from NYC -- but she misses the springrolls.

"So, how many are we expecting tonight?" she questions with a wry grin, lowering her orange tinted shades.
Austin Reese Austin's never actually been to this place before. But the text seemed like it was important, so show up he did. He's wearing a pretty standard getup for himself. T-shirt, leather bike jacket and jeans along with a pair of boots. He's sure if it needed to be formal somebody would have told him.

Same if he needed his other outfit.

Imagine his surprise when he finds himself nearly running into Phoebe after walking in the door, "Shoot, sorry." It takes him a moment to realize who it is, "Oh hey. Did you get invited here too or is this some weird coincidence?"
Julia Pennyworth Text. Text was a suitable means of communication even for someone of Julia's age. She was close to the same age as Dick Grayson anyway so it wasn't as if it was a stretch for her to tag along. Given the fun they had last time, she certainly is up for it again. Getting to hangout and eat amazing food was always a good time.

Dressed in her own casual clothes of jeans and a tanktop with a simple windbreaker, she catches the door to hold it open just after Austin slips in creating more of a roadblock to entering. Leaning to the side a bit to get a better glance of those already here she greets them with a simple, "Oi, we're getting more of those soup dumplings, right? Those were amazing."
Tim Drake     It's Austin's arrival, given he's not been here before, that triggers Mama Chang to busy herself elsewhere. A less serious version of Stranger Danger, and one that's served her well.

At least until Tim lifts a hand to wave the newcomer over. "Hey! Austin, right?"

So maybe Mama Chang is eyeing Austin suspiciously. But she is also starting to deliver plates to the table. Specifically: spring rolls.

    She has your number, Phoebe.

"Could be anywhere from," quick count and an acknowledging nod towards Julia at the door, "Four of us to... uh, something like fifteen?" Tim shrugs. "It depends." He motions for Austin and Julia both to come join; as of right now there are two tables pushed together in the already-cramped sitting space.
Phoebe Beacon     "Oops - careful!" Phoebe warns as she takes a step back in order to not be run over by Austin, and she gives him a grin, sitting down and picking up her chopsticks, and she gives a wave to Julia as well.

"You're in the right place, Austin, aaaand among friends. Tim's my brother-by-law at this point, not just a brother-in-arms. No one better for watching your back and -- ooooh spring rolls!" she squeaks, happily, and she turns her chopsticks around to help herself to a couple of them. "You'll find there's a buch of 'birds of a feather' that are going to be hanging out tonight. We're gonna get flocked!" she jokes easily, a smile on her face.

She frets on her chopstick wrapper a little as she talks.
Stephanie Brown The trip down from Bristol took longer than Stephanie Brown was counting on. Newfound access to high speed transport had spoiled her, she realized as she zoomed her motorcycle around a car and took the offramp to Chinatown. Though the alternate transportation would have gotten her back into Gotham faster, it would have left her without her bike. And dealing with rush hour in the Compact was never as good as being able to drive between lanes on the bike.

She pulls onto the familiar street, spotting a parking spot to pull into. She hops off, removing her helmet and giving her head a flip to help set her hair right as Stephanie heads for the door to Hot Dumpling.

She steps in, quickly spotting familiar faces and breaking out in a smile. "Ah, food already waiting. Maybe this being fashionably late thing has some merit," she says as she walks over to greet the others. Mama Chang glances up at the white girl, her expression quickly turning neutral where before it maybe had a smile for those who converse with her in Mandarin.
Austin Reese Austin takes his seat after looking at Mama Chang and trying to offfer his best smile. Man Batman had said there would need to be a lot of language training as part of everything, but he didn't think he'd need it so soon.

"I think Tim is part of the reason I'm here. And not just because he invited me." He says, as he looks Tim over, "Halloween party with a killer from beyond the grave? Straight up Freddy Kruger stuff."

Since there are spring rolls at the table, however, he will go ahead and grab one or two for himself. After all he's never gonna say no to wonderful smelling food.
Julia Pennyworth Julia Pennyworth flashes a grin back to Tim at the greeting and urging to join the table. While everyone else rushes to jump into a chair and grab food, she pauses to slip out of her jacket to drape it over the back of the chair. While she couldn't do conversational Mandarin, she had a specific skillset of phrases she knew. So she offers Mama Chang a grin, and a suitably easily understood, "<<Thank you for having us. I apologize for my sloppy Mandarin. I'm still learning.>>"

With that she finally sinks down into her chair to grin at the others nodding in turn. "Thanks for the invite. I feel like I've been spending too much time at the house lately." Manor. Not house. Close enough.
Tim Drake     Phoebe's various bird-puns make Tim's eyebrows climb up his forehead, lips turned inwards as he tries not to react. He slumps back in his chair, fingers curled around a cup of tea that's been steaming on the table for the last few minutes, and after a huff of a breath--no, he's not laughing--Tim takes a sip.

As Stephanie comes to the table, he says, "I definitely ordered an amount of food more appropriate for fifteen people so," another gesture is made to the table, now being filled with food, "Eat up. Be prepared for leftovers. You *will* be taking them home."

Somehow he makes that sound vaguely threatening in the sort of way that Alfred does when he's asserting his will against the various Bat-clan's bad decisions about their own health and well-being.

"Right out of a slasher movie, yeah. Pretty terrible," he agrees with Austin.

It'd just been spring rolls, some sort of mushroom-based salad, and okra slathered in so much sichuan pepper-based sauce that even from across the table Tim can feel his face tingling, but apparently Julia has summoned soup dumplings simply by naming them, as that is the next dish to be set down by Mama Chang.
Phoebe Beacon     "Killers from beyond the grave? And *I* wasn't inviii--" Phoebe trails off, and then she wrinkles her nose "Nope, I was horribly busy around Halloween at the bar." she states, and then chomps down on one of the spring rolls. She recognizes Stephanie, at least in passing, and gives a bright smile to the older Bat, giving a small waggle of her fingers, sinking a little in her suit. First time to really meet out of armor and work.

"I feel you entirely there, Julia... still on kinda split-shift." she explains quietly, and she reaches over and scratches at her atheltic-sleeve covered left arm.
Stephanie Brown Each person is given their own personal smile in turn as Stephanie slides into a chair and sets her helmet by her feet to be out of the way. "Sorry for running late," she tells them. "So how are you settling into Gotham, Julia?" Stephanie asks as she waits her turn, then gets a pair of spring rolls and some peanut sauce to dip them in.

"If there's extra, people at my old place would love it," she comments. "I haven't been a ready source of leftovers for them for awhile now. Stopped to pick up some things and ran into a few of them," she comments idly while getting the food on her plate.

She takes a bite of spring roll and sighs. "Ah, this hits the spot," she says happily.
Julia Pennyworth Julia Pennyworth glances the direction of those soup dumplings with a growing grin. In a very enthusiastic Mandarin she just says, "<<Thank you!>>" There's nothing more that needs said there. She picks up her chopsticks to pluck up a spring roll (before they all disapear) and then goes for one of the still steaming soup dumplings.

"Eh, I've only run a few things. Mostly been playing with the computers to familiarize myself with the systems." Something which could be taken as very mundane and not something that could immediately alert people to 'Hey, they're Robins!'

"Well, and hit the bar a few times but that's not the sort of thing you guys would be into."
Cassandra Cain This is when everyone's phones that Cass has the number for ping. All of them, at once. It's possible that someone got their number. However, some of you have preprogrammed text sounds that would say this is Cass on the other end.

Given that she's not one for texting, it's probably a picture. And if anyone checks, they'd find that apparently there are two cats having a boxing contest on eight street. Cass has a slightly skewed shot of it, and she's standing in front of her camera with the cats beside her in the frame.

The cats are taking this very seriously. Cass is apparently trying to wink. Or it seems like she was mid-wink taking the shot. She seems...well, it doesn't seem like this is a heavy work night for Orphan.
Tim Drake     "Steph, I'm not sure, have you ever met Phoebe? She's one of my best friends." Tim squeezes Phoebe's arm, and then he nods over to the newest recruit. "And this is Austin, too. He's still settling in."

And then Tim does the same as Julia, making sure some of the spring rolls end up on his plate before they've vanished. Not that Mama Chang would mind making more, and probably will by the end of the night, especially if there's people Steph can take the food to. But that's not the point. "I've been to bars! I mean, I didn't drink, because I'm 20. I was there for a show." He pauses. "I went into the mosh pit!"

Yeah, he's cool. Definitely not a nerd.

It's not Tim's phone but his smart watch (synced with his phone) that vibrates with the notifaction. Which he stares at, on the small screen, and then has to pull his phone out of his pocket to see the image Cass sent properly.

"There's been a Catwoman sighting," he announces, somehow straight-faced. Which, you know, there are probably various websites dedicated to that sort of thing. Fan blogs.
Phoebe Beacon     "Depends on which bar." Phoebe replies gamely, and she looks to Stephanie, and gives a wry grin "We've crossed paths, but nothing so official, I think. Mostly Work." she smiles, and gives an awkward wave.

"I've been to a couple bars. Mostly... for... work stuff." she admits quietly, and rubs the back of her head. "I was a barback for a while when I was staying in New York." she states quietly, and then she looks at the picture on Tim's phone, and gives a small grin.

"Mosh pits are fun, but they definitely don't like it when you mosh at the concerts I've been to."
Stephanie Brown Stephanie Brown nods her agreement with Phoebe about having met before. "A few places around campus. But don't really have a lot of free time for a... you know," Stephanie says, giving a little motion of her hand as if she's searching for a phrase. "Real life."

She does get a soft grin though, as that's not quite accurate. Her phone chimes before she has anything more to say though, pulling it out and taking a look at the photo. Stephanie grins and takes a picture of her spring roll, then a picture of the plucked chicken hanging in the window of the shop so Cass knows where they are, and sends them off.
Austin Reese "I am not old enough to drink, but that hasn't stopped me before." Austin says, in between bites of spring rolls. He also grabs some of the dumplings with his chopsticks and sets them on his plate, "Pleasure to meet you Steph." He's trying to remember if she was at Phoebe's birthday party. He probably hasn't put two and two together that she was one of the Batgirls at the Halloween thing.
Julia Pennyworth Julia Pennyworth clears her throat faintly. "I wasn't exactly hanging out in a regular bar. More a..." She pauses contemplating how to explain it. "Eh, it was a merc bar. Got to keep an ear out for news. Pitting myself as a small timer from across the pond." With that she pinches the top part of her soup dumpling to let some steam escape, and then tucks it into her mouth in a single bite doing the hfrahahaha blowing around it as she eats.
Cassandra Cain     The picture sits there, with no reasonable explanation for Cass' complete inability to properly wink when she's the one taking the picture. However the pic from Steph shows as received and read, which is nice but not particularly informative from Cass' end of things.

A moment later another pic, of Cass' left cheek and part of her jaw, is sent to Steph. No sign of the cats are in the photo, but at least she's making an effort to communicate. It's a dumb-ass effort to communicate though, so feel free to ignore it.
Tim Drake     Tim only pops an entire spring roll into his mouth and then does a complicated series of hand-movements that communicates something along the lines of "I plead the Fifth" when it comes to actually announcing which bar he's done all this at.

There's a joke in here about the Constitution and vigilantism, but we'll leave it for another time.

Still chewing, Tim leans over, all up in Phoebe's personal space, and then twists around so he can take a selfie of him, her, also Austin, and like... maybe half of Julia. Despite his age he is not a master of selfie-taking.

But then he adds some emojis of dumplings and hot soup and sends the pic to Cass.

"What's "real life," precious?" Tim asks Steph. Whilst doing an embarrassingly accurate impression of Gollum's voice. Like, so good that it's obvious he's spent a lot of time working on it.
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe, who usually avoids touch, leans into Tim's space back, making a goofy face into the camera and giving Tim bunny ears at the same time, appropriate of 'little sister'-ness.

And she grins, leaning back over and says it's a good pic, and she says "SOC-IAL-I-ZATION. Schoolwork, sportsball, puttin' in appearances, lovely big hang-outs at appropriately youthful places --"

She looks at Tim. "Even you couldn't say no to that!"

Because TIm absolutely cannot reply 'give it to us raw and wriggling' without busting into the blushes. She'd put money down on it.

And she gives a small grin.

"I've been doing a lot of work with the remainder of cleaning up in Manhattan... and... some additional work in the not-as-easily-traveled-to-places."

She gives a flat expression "Not a whole lot of time for socializing, but it's gotten me out of attending a gala so far."
Julia Pennyworth Julia Pennyworth holds up a dumpling on her chopsticks when the pictures is taken. That's likely her half--part of an arm, some hair, and a dumpling deftly held in chopsticks. That one is soon deposited into her mouth as well to chew up before she grabs a glass of water to chug, and then lets out an satisfied sigh. Oh, she'd eat MORE of course but this was a good start with good food.

"I... Honestly, I feel a little lost here." It's said quietly, yet with a somber bit of seriousness to it. Momentarily she stares at the plates in front of her before risking a glance up again to offer a wry smile at them all. "Newcome here, yeah? Not just to the group but to the entire country. My squad and I were together for... god." A shake of her head comes.

"Always heard it was difficult coming out of the military life."
Stephanie Brown Stephanie grins back to Austin. "Not the first time, but there's a lot of faces to get used to. Kitchen. There might have been an Asian girl of few words, and a knife," she reminds him. Having someone throw two knives at people stands out more than the faces might.

Looking over to Tim and Phoebe, Stephanie nods in agreement with Phoebe's rendition. "That. Pretty much anything outside of school, and... ah high intensity workouts. You know. To keep in shape," she says, the nearest she comes to talking about donning a costume at night.

A look of empathy is given to Julia. "Yeah, can take a little time to get used to things," Stephanie offers in a tone as if she had some amount of experience with that too. "Worth it in the long run."

She takes a bite of her spring roll, then glances back to Austin. "You staying at the manor, or living at school?" she asks.
Cassandra Cain     Cass doesn't read the last message for a moment or two. In fact, it might even be a minute before a response comes back. Three little dots, suggesting that Cass is typing. UnFORtunately, her typing speed leaves a great deal to be desired.

...

    OK

Really? All that for OK? Then a picture comes in, with video, of someone laying on the ground, and another one running away. The sound is horrible, the video is dark and basically useless, but it quickly shifts to what is Cass' face and her giving a thumbs-up. Then she signs off.

    So, probably on her way?
Phoebe Beacon     "It's easy to get lost. Tim and I have been working together for like, three years now. Pretty closely. That's how I met Cass, and Cass, and a lot of my friends. He's always been there for me." she gives a grin, grabbing another springroll. Omnomnom.

"So basically like a sixth of my life, between training and my very brief stint as a barrista at MoonCents Coffee."
Austin Reese Austin snaps his fingers, and points at Stephanie, "That's the one." He definitely remembers knives being thrown around. He manages to snatch up another spring roll, and then hmms a little bit at Julia, "I'm pretty new to this whole thing too, so I can understand the sentiment."
Julia Pennyworth Julia Pennyworth waggles her chopsticks at Austin with a clear nod of agreement. "Yeah it takes time, I know. Plus I'm older than most of you. Kind of feel out of place. But." Another shrug is given as she tucks into the spring roll finally. "I'll get over it. I get along well enough with Kate and we've got similar history there at least." It was nice having someone who understood.
Tim Drake     There's a particular sort of look that Tim gets when he's putting the pieces together for some mystery in his head. It's that kind of look that he's aimed at Julia, though the particulars about what he's thinking aren't shared. Instead, he just nods, and says, "I've heard that too, yeah. If there's something we can do to help, just let us know." He gives another nod when she mentions Kate.

"We'll get you both introduced to the rest of the family. Takes a little while, we're all busy with--."

Yes. High intensity workouts. Tim clears his throat, sticks his tongue out at Phoebe several minutes late for her cheek, and then Tim leans on the table. "It's easier, I think, once you've met people. There's enough of us that you're bound to find a few people you click with. Shared life experiences or something, right?"
Phoebe Beacon     Phoebe is satisfied with the look she gets from Tim, and sticks her own tongue out in reply. Nyeeh!

"It can be tricky to find the right group of people you click with. Luckily, I kinda float between a couple. I'm always willing to help if I'm not stuck in anything. Y'know. Giant trans-dimensional bugs from space, gang fights, rescuing ballerinas from horrible ex boyfriends..." she pauses a moment, and wrinkles her nose "Learning how to tell the difference between what fork you're supposed to use on a dish -- this food is so much easier. Soup? Spoon. Not soup? Chopsticks." she states, picking up her mushroom salad.
Cassandra Cain Cass still hasn't arrived. She's out on the town, sending interesting texts. Yet isn't she really here in spirit? She wouldn't eat the dumplings anyway, picky eater that she is. Then suddenly a picture of a crashed motorcycle comes in, followed by a frowny-face emoji. It looks like she's a few blocks out and drives like Launchpad McQuack. But she'd call if she needed help, right? Of course she would.
Julia Pennyworth Julia Pennyworth leans her elbow on the table as she hunches slightly over her plate in a way that her father would definitely not approve of. Chopsticks raised she dips them down for another bit of dumpling before an eyebrow arches at the photo coming across the phones. "Think we should go give her a hand?" She asks uncertainly with a glance at the door. "I don't think that's too far off."

Of course, there was food right here, too. Such a dilema. "Ah, as I said I'll get used to it. Damian actually asked me if I was going to be taking over my father's role."
Jason Todd Outside, the roar of a motorcycle engine rumbles through the windows. A few moments, later, Jason walks in, helmet in hand. He takes stock of the situation, then makes his way to the table, flopping down in a seat.

"Sorry I'm late, had some business come up.

EARLIER

"God dammit, stop fighting me!" The Red Hood yells at the man who is clearly having a substance fueled freak out. "Why did it have to be PCP?! I have somewhere to go!"

The man, who is smaller than Jason, roars and kicks him in the groin.

NOW

"I need a beer and some food. What a day."
Tim Drake     "Someone in this group would try to eat soup with chopsticks just purely out of spite," Tim adds. He has one of the vegetable dumplings plucked up from his plate and hovering a few inches from his mouth as he speaks. His other hand is busy with his phone.

Texting while talking is apparently rude. Or maybe it's that he's had this same dumpling in his chopsticks for at least a solid minute that makes Mama Chang yell at him from where she's about to disappear back into the kitchen.

It makes him startle a little bit, and the dumpling slips from his chopsticks to go splat on his plate. Tim's quick to pick it back up and take an actual bite from it now that he's been scolded.

He's still chewing as he looks over towards the door as the roart of a motorcycle shakes the whole building. "Business," Tim says agreeably, and then pushes the freshest plate of dumplings towards Jason. "Jason, Austin. Austin, Jason."

"I can't imagine anyone but Alfred being..." His mind blanks on anything other than 'Alfred' to describe the things that Alfred does. "Well... what do you want to do, job-wise?" he asks Julia.
Phoebe Beacon     "It CAN be done. You have to get the sticks at just the right distance apart and then the vaccuum between them when you suck them like a straw can carry the broth up -- but for the sake of Mama Chang let's not make a mess of the place." Phoebe gives a wry grin to Tim. "And I'm with you. I can't see Alfred retiring, but I bet you Julia could give Damian a run for his money." she replies, giving a grin to Julia as well before Todd makes an appearance.

"Hey Jason." Phoebe greets Jason with a wave of her hand, and she looks over at him, and she tilts her head back, the medic (who ever mother-hens people) sizing him up a moment.

"Bad business?" she asks out of concern, "Do... you need a minute to talk things over?" she asks, one eyebrow rising as she takes offher orange-tinted glasses.
Austin Reese Austin manages to stop eating long enough to give Jason a look. He hasn't seen Jason before, at least not out of costume. Jason would probably remember him from the fight with the Joker. Either way Austin puts one of his hands out for Jason to give it a shake. Then he'll get back to the food, after grabbing a drink, "Good to meet you Jason. Glad you made it."
Julia Pennyworth Julia Pennyworth snorts faintly at the mention of Alfred being Alfred. Her head dips down a little to snag some more of the spring rolls though it also serves to hide her expression. "I'm alright with being support. I was enlisted, not an officer. Though I should look into something more legitimate, too," she adds a bit quieter once she was sure Mama Chang was in the kitchen and the old men toward the back playing Mahjong weren't eavesdropping. Usually they didn't--they were too busy gambling among themselves over the game.

Her head inclinese toward Phoebe with a wry grin when Damian is brought up again. "Eh he's been polite enough. Just grumpy. I can deal with that." Then Jason comes in. "Ah, it's about time some of the eye candy showed up. Sure you don't want some soju? Beer works too though and I'll join you in that."
Jason Todd Jason squints at Austin. He has met that guy. He shakes his hand with a firm, businesslike grip. All the while giving Tim a look like 'What does this dude know?"

He shakes his head slightly at Phoebe. "Nothing too awful. I got ... kicked in an uncomfortable place. Someone was being a little unruly." He pauses to glance at Julia, and he makes an exaggerated eyebrow waggle. "Soju and beer will get the job done faster. Sign me up."
Cassandra Cain     Mama Chang makes a sudden exasperated sound, then proceeds to make noises of the type she's known for. She moves her hands animatedly, then she sends someone into the back.

A moment later she eyes the group of you all, then into the back room. And then she says something in Cantonese about keeping the noise down.

Because she's just taken notice of a Cassandra sleeping in the corner of her kitchen! Apparently she's arrived, and decided to close her eyes a second or two.

At least she's alright. You know, ish.
Tim Drake     The way Tim turns around to face Phoebe as soon as she talks about creating a vaccuum between a pair of chopsticks is abrupt enough that it almost looks like he's been physically struck. And then he says, "There's no way that's true. You definitely just made that all up."

His eyes still narrowed, Tim leans over the table to reach for another round of dumplings. "No. That's not how physics works. I don't believe it," he adds as he relocates several vegetable potstickers onto his plate.

Still suspicious, Tim settles back in to eat, and catches Jason's look. So he shrugs one shoulder and gestures around the group. "Austin's new. Still learning the ropes."

Mama Chang pulls his attention away though, and Tim's eyebrows go up. "If 'keeping it down' can include no one calling Jason 'eye candy' then that's fine with me."
Phoebe Beacon     "I dunno about eye-candy..." Phoebe states, looking Jason up and down, and then she helps herself to some of the dumplings.

"And it's totally true. My sensei did it once to prove it to me. Is this the face of a girl who would lie to you, Tim? I think *not*." Phoebe replies to Tim with a wry smile, and then she gives a little nod.

"Austin's got a room at the Big House." she states to Jason by way of introduction,a dn she gives a grin. "Meanwhile I've got the paperwork to go with it. For what it's worth."
Julia Pennyworth Julia Pennyworth snorts faintly at Tim's reaction to what she called Jason, though she does allow herself an easy grin. It never hurt to tease a bit after all. The sudden hurry to quiet down earns a little half-rise from her seat to see what was all the commotion--Or shushing of commotion. Catching sight of Cass there she settles back down with a grin. "Poor girl seems overworked. Should give her a day off, if she'd take it."

"Beer and soju it is then. I could use some more dumplings too. I can never get enough of these," she adds with a longing glance at the mostly empty tray. Still, Jason had just arrived, she was going to leave some for him and the others too.
Austin Reese After he hears Phoebe mention him having a room, and Tim's talk of him being new, he nods a couple times, "Oh yeah, I'm in the know." Well maybe not totally in the know, but he knows enough. He realizes he's out of Coke, so he'll hop up in order to go get some more, before he plops back down at the table, and then grabs his chopsticks again, "Okay. What haven't I tried yet.." He hmms to himself as he scans the various dishes still to be sampled.
Jason Todd "Alright," Jason says with a nod. "Caught up with a guy who was out of his mind on PCP. In doing my best not to go full bore RH on him, he kicked me in the, uh, balls." Pause. "So I might have hurt him after, but I can't be blamed. You don't ''do'' that."

Oh look, alcohol. Jason takes a hit of the soju before digging into his beer.

What food?
Tim Drake     All Tim can do is shake his head at Phoebe, still unbelieving. Though he's got half a potsticker in his mouth so he can't decry her sudden and overwhelming disrespect for the sanctity of physics.

It's not as if most of them reject gravity with little more than the force of their own will and a piece of wire on the regular. Which, yes, something of an oversimplification, but whatever.

"Bruce is working on his collection," Tim says. He shrugs, both shoulders rising to his ears as he ducks down. "You know how it is. Honestly I'm surprised it's taken him this long."

Then he frowns down at his plate, skeptically.

"I'm trying hard not to make a Pokemon reference here and not just because I know Phoebe's going to make me be the duck."
Phoebe Beacon     "Eat some food, Jason." Phoebe states dryly, turning her chopsticks around and putting a couple of springrolls and veggie dumplings on a little plate and setting it in front of Jason. Did we mention she mother hens?

"Ooch. Yeah, back when I was solely working with the homeless it was always a real tough time running into the ones who were just... out of their minds in that minute. I don't envy them... must have a lot of inner demons. Can't exorcize those in the normal way." Phoebe comments quietly. "But once they start getting physical on a bad trip... yeeaaah." she pauses a moment, and then looks to Tim.

"Nah, nah, you're definitely more like, Fletchling, but kinda crossed with a Kadabara? LIke you don't have psychic powers but you're super smart."
Austin Reese "Which duck?" Austin asks as he grins at Tim, "And you know, I feel hurt. I have been called a stray and a collectable in the last couple of days." The grin on his face shows that he's very clearly making a bad attempt at a joke.

Jason's story gets a hmm out of him. He's definetely had run-ins with that type before. It's never fun. Phoebe, however, gets a look from Austin who tilts his head a little bit, "Are you going to figure out Pokemon combos for everybody? Because if so I want a say in mine."
Julia Pennyworth Julia Pennyworth doth quote, very straight faced and in a high-pitched voice, "Psy-ai-aiiiii," before taking a good gulp of her own soju. Just to respond to Austin as to which 'duck from Pokemon' she imagined that Tim might expect himself to be. Of course she didn't seem the nerdy type but that was exactly the generation she grew up with, even if she went the military route.

A sympathetic wince is given as Jason recounts his evening. "Yeah that's not a good thing. Need some ice?" She offers helpfully while scoring another spring roll with a quick swipe of her chopsticks.
Tim Drake     "Ducklett, at least, not Psyduck. But I think if I were like any of the intelligent Pokemon it'd be Porygon." Between Tim and Phoebe, they could spend an entire day arguing about which Pokemon matches which person. Which is at least less of a somber topic than them all talking about being the real life orphan equivalents of NFTs. Bat-Fungible Tokens.

Oh god. Well, at least Julia has Alfred, so she doesn't count.

Alcohol's a great money maker, so Mama Chang is more than happy to keep that flowing. For the Wayne kids and their friends that are of legal age, mind you. More spring rolls do indeed make it out onto the table, as well as even more dumplings, somehow, until the entire table has had their fill.

And then there's a big production about boxing everything up for folks to take home. Mama Chang harrangues more than one of them to eat more, they need to put some weight on, all that sort of thing. General motherly concern.

By the time everyone's made it back home (or wherever they're headed, after Hot Dumplings) Tim's already created a new group text to discuss which Pokemon they all are.
