Cheetah Everything cost money. Everything had expenses. Barbara-Ann Minerva had come to know this the hard way in desperation as she would seek alternative sources of funding as her world fell apart. So as her life had changed, it was something she had to keep up with. but it was simple. As an archaeologist, she knew what something was worth.. And more importantly, who might want things. So today she was transferring something over in a bar. A drink in one hand she was making a show of sipping at while letting out a sigh. Arm in a sling, bag over a shoulder.
Nikolas Kamarov     The door opens, a swirl of cold air blowing in momentarily as Nikolas enters, closing the door behind him. He's dressed more simply than normal, jeans and a bomber jacket over a blue henley. It isn't really the place where one wants to call attention by wearing a suit and trenchcoat, after all. He also has a bag over his shoulder, a simple leather messenger bag.

He pauses to look around, then spots Minerva and heads over to to where she's waiting. "Afternoon..." he murmurs.
Cheetah Cheetah would look up and over at Nikolas, giving a wave and then a sigh and close her eyes, "Hey, this drink sucks. You seem like you've been about here before, tell a woman what she might like? I tend to enjoy somethign bitter but I'm afraid of just what they put in the water here. So have a suggestion?" Signal.
Nikolas Kamarov "Hmm. Their vodka wasn't bad last time I checked." Nikolas rumbles as he takes a seat. "Not top shelf, but not potato drippings either, hmm?" He smiles faintly.
Cheetah Countersignal given. "All right, I suppose that's fine. Let me buy you a drink for being nice?" Bag slung over her shoulder left at the table while she would fish her wallet out to go pay. Bag that was identical over to the messenger one that Nikolas was carrying
Nikolas Kamarov Nikolas sets his down next to the bag in question. "Sounds fair, if you've the time." He leans back in the chair opposite Barbara-Ann, muttering. "At least vodka will sterilize the glasses."
Cheetah The switch is made very quickly. Nikolas is so smooth no one would notice if they were not a Bat and directly watching the two. A few moments later Barbara-Ann comes back with drinks for the two. "Thank you."
Nikolas Kamarov "Excellent. I trust you had no problems of note?" Nikolas asks, accepting the offered glass as he swirls the shot glass a little bit, eying its contents, before knocking it back in one swallow.
Cheetah Cheetah would shake her head, "No, the bartender knew what I wanted when I said it. You've been here a few times?" the phrase for 'no issues with getting it'
Nikolas Kamarov "Off and on, when I pass by." Niko says, nodding with a grunt as he lets out a little 'pah' of appreciation for the drink. "Mm, smooth. Were you taking a break today?" Or translation, are you open for another job?
Cheetah Cheetah would nod over, "Yes, I tend to be in between things. Work is work. And just working at the gift shop barely gives me enough to pay my rent."
Nikolas Kamarov "Ah, that reminds me then, I had that magazine you wondered about." Niko reaches inside his jacket, pulling out a rolled magazine and setting it out flat on the table between them. A Smithsonian magazine, showing one of its most recent exhibitions. Though the actual request is folded amid the pages, of course, and not immediately obvious. "If you don't want to hold onto it when you're done reading through, feel free to give it back, I had someone else who might be interested too. But it doesn't matter overly." he assures her.
Cheetah Simple enough over. Cheetah in human guise go to take it, "Sure, thanks. I love reading them but they're too expensive. And you want to support the foundation for something you care about." Translation 'I'll look into it'. And in professional terms the quivalent of 'if I don't get back to you, don't wait for me'. She wasn't asking for 'dibs' on it after all
Nikolas Kamarov Nikolas smiles thinly. "I'm happy to pass it on to someone who appreciates it. If nothing else, something to read during slow moments at your work."
Cheetah Cheetah would sigh, "Yes, and it's better than having a supervisor tell me to scan things and take inventory." Nothing actually 'exchanged'. Moreso just playing to her role.
Nikolas Kamarov "I can't help feel you're wasted on retail. What is the term, hang in there? I'm sure your big break will come soon." Nikolas tilts his head. "Surely you have dreams of greater heights?"
Cheetah Cheetah would laugh, "The only type of job offers I've had are for somewhere like this where they grab my ass and I get paid in tips." Trasnlation 'this type of thing was beneath her, but it was a living'
Nikolas Kamarov "I suppose it just means you need someone who appreciates your talents in general rather than just the physical side of things." Nikolas agrees.
Cheetah Cheetah would smile, "Yes, I'm looking for something long term that gives me a steady job. Maybe a little dignity."
Nikolas Kamarov "Well, you have good taste in magazines so far. I know my boss appreciates it. Perhaps I could put in a word?" Nikolas says. It's not like they wouldn't put her on retainer to acquire things or for other activities, after all.
Cheetah Cheetah would move to get up, "Well, time for me to go ahead and get back to my shift. Thanks for the drinking break."
Nikolas Kamarov "Of course...have a good day. I think I will try at leas tone more for the road." Nikolas says, smiling faintly as he nods. "Good day to you."
